Using Password_verify_function for EBS Application Schemas

HI,
As you all know, EBS Application Schemas (ex: AP, AR, GL, HR, etc) are associated with the DEFAULT profile and DEFAULT profile PASSWORD_VERIFY_FUNCTION is set to NULL. If I alter DEFAULT profile and set PASSWORD_VERIFY_FUNCTION to make use of a complex password function as below or create a custom profile with a custom password function, I am not able to change the Schemas password using FNDCPASS.. it throws the below error:
APP-FND-02704: Unable to alter user PRP to change password.
APP-FND-01564: ORACLE error 1403 in changepassword
Cause: changepassword failed due to ORA-01403: no data found.
The SQL statement being executed at the time of the error was: and was executed from the file &ERRFILE.
According to metalink note # 1306938.1, it is mentioned that the error can be resolved by setting PASSWORD_VERIFY_FUNCTION back to NULL, which I dont want to do as we wont be able to enforce complex password function for the application schemas.
Please suggest

Best practices for creating application schema

All,
Can anyone recommend best practices (or pointer to a url) for creating application schema. A novice installer created a schema and the tablespace ran out of disk space in 2 days and the system came to a halt at a production site. The tablespace was created with one datafile and with MAXSIZE specified. I am looking for Do's and Dont's on production system.

I'm not sure that you can boil this down to a "Do's and Don'ts" list unless you want to get overly general...
For example, do make sure that you provision space appropriately. "Appropriately" however, is going to be radically different in different environments. Some shops set all their data files to autoextend in production and monitor utilization at the OS level. Other shops specify exact file sizes and monitor utilization at the Oracle level. Each approach has its own advantages and disadvantages, you just need to make sure that your application uses the same approach that every other application in the organization uses.
Do have an idea about the space utilization of the application, but don't go overboard. Running out of space in 2 days means someone failed to do a basic analysis. On the other hand, I've seen people spend way more time than they should making 5 year projections based on some relatively soft assumptions and getting worried about internal overheads that were much smaller than the error bars in their baseline estimates. Of course, the precision necessary also depends on the implications-- a 20% error in a multi-TB data warehouse is going to have a lot more impact than a 20% error in a 20 GB OLTP application.

I've checked the obvious things, changed the fuse, tried different cables, poked paperclips in reset holes, but nothing doing. I wonder if there is anyone who knows what might be wrong. I was hoping to get some of its content transferred soon, but I'm guessing that can't be done if it can't be started up. Many thanks, if you can help

Was it possibly a power cut in connection with a thunderstorm? Any other evidence of higher than normal voltages (light bulbs, et cetera)? Has the line voltage been checked (measured with an appropriate voltmeter/multimeter)?
If necessary, it would be possible to remove the hard drive, and then connect it to an external IDE/ATA to USB adapter (example below). That way you could gain access to files on the hard disk from another computer.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your security questions. I found an article with some useful information if you cannot remember the answers to your security questions:
What should I do if I don't remember the answers to my Apple ID security questions?
Try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you are not sure you remember the answers to your security questions.
If you are confident you can't remember them, try one of the following:
If you have three security questions and a rescue email address
sign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID passwordsign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to reset your security question.

In this days i'm trying to use Adobe AIR with FLEX to build
RIA on Desktop and other application (like company managment and
other:) In past i used VB .NET, C++, C#, and JAVA. I know that this
are the language for "antonomasia" to build company managment
software, but for you, what is the negative aspect to use AIR in
Desktop application? For example:
- Performane? (Database handling is not optimal, or other
issue....)
- Using AIR interpreters means up RAM and CPU usage, or
others?

Its possible but you would need to tell each movieclip and audioclip to play/pause. You can create a for loop inside your mouse event function to find each movieclip and pause/play its timeline and a separate for loop for audio clips. Also instead of setting fame rate to 0 for pause just use a stop() command.

One advantage i think, may be it's free . Isn't it ? Anything else ( say, it's faster .? )

The main advantage is that it is a P2P system. It is not the same as a Flash Media Server or other Flash servers. When using Cirrus, your content is sent directly to and from clients, they do not need to send it to the server, get it interpreted and then send it to the other user.
So essentially Cirrus is fantastic if you have an application envrionment that needs multiuser interaction, but only for client to client operations: you'd want peer-to-peer.

Weblogic.Deployer using -deploy for existing application

I'm running on weblogic 8.1 SP3
when I use -deploy for an existing application the documentation says it will do a redeploy.
documentation for the targets option says that it will use existing targets for an application that is currently deployed.
BUT it doesn't work. Is this a known issue ?
I use the following options:
-name fortune
-source /data/bea81/applications/stg/fortune.ear
-verbose -debug -deploy -stage

Check to see if the problem is with the Deployer tool or myApp.war:
1) Does myApp.war deploy using the console?
2) Check myApp.war has all the classes it needs?
If your app does deploy from the console then we can focus in on the Deploy tool. If not it may help give us a clue as to what is going on e.g. your war file missing classes.

Spotlight seems to be of no use except for finding applications

Whenever I search for music, pictures, videos, or even simple word documents on Spotlight, it returns no results unless I first click "Show All" so the Spotlight window comes up and then only by selecting "Home" under "Where". Whenever I search directly from the Spotlight icon, however, it's basically useless, except for finding applications. What's wrong with it? How can I fix it so that it searches for everything that it was made to find?

As you seem to be finding, Spotlight's kind of problematic. In my experience it manages both to find too little and too much.
-- "Too little" because, rather than search your hard drive, Spotlight searches its own index, which by design doesn't include everything on your computer; plus from time to time the indexing process simply doesn't complete itself, or the index becomes silently corrupt. I don't trust Spotlight searches.
-- "Too much" because the unrestricted Spotlight search from the menubar returns every document that contains even a whiff of your search term, the result being that you may have to slog through 400 hits to find the one document with the filename you specified. (You can perform the search using cmd-F and that will help a bit but it's a few more keystrokes.)
For simple filename searches I've found it is best to simply bypass Spotlight altogether and use the non-index-based utility EasyFind (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/11706). It's not as fast as the pre-Tiger cmd-F find but it produces more reliable and more predictable results than anything Spotlight can currently offer.
I'm hoping (without any particular basis for it however) that Apple makes Spotlight a little more useable in Leopard.

I use green screen editing on vegas alot, is it worth it to buy PS and use it for that application on a chrome book?

I just bought a acer chrome book being told I can utilize PhotoShop on it and keep an easy platform to use. is it worth the trouble using PS for green screen on a chrome book?

We don't really do Green Screen with Photoshop, but it certainly does an excellent job of making transparent backgrounds for still images. It wouldn't be able to do this with video though.

How to use proxy for all application in XFCE?

Is there any way I can setup a proxy and then all applications over XFCE can use it, just like the Internet Option in Windows?
I tried "export PROXY=..." in command line and setup proxy for Firefox, but those setting is not for overall system.
If unfortunately there is no way for global setting, at least please tell me how to setup proxy for svn command.

I don't agree that a User or System DSN is needed - that's a Windows idiom.
I haven't used the J2EE SDK to set up a data source, but I know that when I do it in Tomcat I've got to put a <resource-ref> tag in the web.xml that identifies the JNDI lookup string, and then the JDBC driver/URL/username/password details under a <Resource> tag in the context.xml to tell the data source how to create the JDBC connection.
My <resource-ref> name is "jdbc/APIPrototype". My JNDI lookup string looks like "java:comp/env/jdbc/DataSourceName".
You've got to do more than just put the JNDI lookup string in the Context lookup. Your error message sounds like the server is saying you've haven't done that set-up work.

Catch problem for JSPs, can't i use Oracle9iAS for our Application ?

I have deployed .ear file by using OC4J. I am facing catch problem, in defferent situations.
1. We used pager tag library for search nagivation, it is not working proper.
2. 'Creation of new object(in my case enterprise,certificate,role etc.)' is not working
properly. What ever i try to create it is giving Error in
TrainiumPKCallBean :javax.ejb.DuplicateKeyException: Entity already exists
3. And some of my pages not giving proper results, but if i edit that .jsp file, then it
gives correct request for that time. If i want correct result, then again i have to edit and
save that page.
I belive all the above problems are coming due to catch.
If this problem continues, we can't use Oralce9iAs.
please give me solution..

I must admit, I had difficulty understanding your question. With your
permission, I'll try and rephrase it. Hopefully I have understood it
correctly, and can offer something constructive.
I assume that "TrainiumPKCallBean" is a CMP entity bean. You are invoking
the "create()" method in that bean's home interface from your JSP, correct?
When you invoke the "create()" method of a CMP entity bean's home interface,
OC4J will try and insert a row into the relevant database table(s).
A "DuplicateKeyException" means that OC4J is trying to insert a row
that has a primary key of an already existing row in the database
table. The only way to avoid the "DuplicateKeyException" is either
try to use a different primary key value, or delete the row from the
database table with the primary key that you are trying to insert.
So I suppose that by editing the JSP, you are changing the primary
key value to something that doesn't already exist in the database.
Unfortunately, based on the (lack of) information you have supplied,
I can't offer anything else -- sorry {:-(
If you wouldn't mind supplying the following information -- it may
help me to help you solve your problem(s).
1. Version of OC4J
2. JDK version
3. Operating system
4. Complete error message and stack trace
5. Part(s) of the code that are causing the problem
