Using pl/sql in forms to access rs232 information

Does anyone know how to capture information receved from serial port (example: serial code) using pl/sql with forms.
THX.

What you need is a 3rd party comm ocx or ole
control like SAXCOMM,PDQCOMM etc.
Once this is loaded on your machine , then using forms goto the programs "import OLE libray interfaces" option and load the commms control you are using. You must choose the events and methods. Once this is done then the programme units should be updated with the procs (methods) you can call.
I hope this helps.

  • Using Dynamic SQL in Forms

    Does anyone know anything about Dynamic SQL not being available in Forms v. 6.0.8.11.3? I trying to use Dynamic SQL for the first time and am having some difficulty. When I try to put my SQL in a function and run it straight into the database through SQLPlus, it works fine, but when trying to compile the code in Forms Builder (in a library), I get compiler errors. Any help would be appreciated...
    Thanks!
    Vanessa

    When I tried to compile the following code in Forms, the compiler error I got was Encountered the symbol "STMT_STR" when expecting one of the following: select. However, when I run it in SQLPlus, it creates the function without any errors.
    FUNCTION my_func
    return number
    is
    TYPE DiaryCurTyp IS REF CURSOR;
    cur DiaryCurTyp;
    stmt_str VARCHAR2(200);
    dmonth NUMBER;
    dday NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    stmt_str := 'SELECT dmonth, dday FROM p2_diary
    WHERE dmonth = :1';
    OPEN cur FOR stmt_str USING '12';
    LOOP
    FETCH cur INTO dmonth, dday;
    EXIT WHEN cur%NOTFOUND;
    -- <process data>
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE cur;
    END;

    hi Anversha s
    thank you for your reply
    I means what's the risk when to use native sql to access external DB..
    can you show me some examples about open sql which is used to access external DB...
    Now I am investigating the technique about the connection
    between SAP (by abap program) and external DB...the supporter suggestion is to use native sql to access external DBs.but my manager is afraid of the risks when to use native sql,So I have to report the effective document (example: SAP official document) to explain  to my manager.

  • Using ANSI sql in forms 9i triggers

    hi,
    could use some help here please!
    I am getting errors when trying to compile triggers in forms 9i against a 9i DB which include cursors or sql select's which are written using the ANSI join syntax.
    example:
    declare
    cursor cur_test is
    select dual1.dummy "dual1", dual2.dummy "dual2"
    from (dual dual1 inner join dual dual2 on dual1.dummy = dual2.dummy);
    begin
         null;
    end;
    when I try and compile I get error message "103" which seems to think that the SQL is not valid. If I put the same statements into recordgroups they will compile, and they run via SQL*Plus OK.
    versions are:
    Forms [32 Bit] Version 9.0.2.9.0 (Production)
    Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
    JServer Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
    Oracle Toolkit Version 9.0.4.0.23 (Production)
    PL/SQL Version 9.0.1.3.1 (Production)
    Oracle Procedure Builder V9.0.2.0.7 Build #1022 - Production
    database: 9.2.0.1.0
    Any ideas?!
    thanks,
    Pete

    If you remember that Sybase and MS worked together on SQLServer. Version 6.5 was pretty much the same database server. MS then built version 7.0 leaving Sybase behind. They added ANSI standard joins to their db. What did they get? PROBLEMS. Every patch contained fixes for ANSI standard joins. Even SQLServer 2000 has problems with it.
    Oracle now trys to follow MS and add ANSI joins to their database. What did it give them? BUGS. Remember this one?
    select * from sys.role$ cross join dual
    http://otn.oracle.com/deploy/security/pdf/sql_joins_alert.pdf
    Use standard joins and not ANSI joins. That will solve this problem.

  • Can a SQL SERVER table be accessed via Oracle Forms

    My boss asked me this question today. I am pretty sure the answer is "no", but thought it better to throw it out to the crowd:
    "Can a SQL SERVER table be accessed via Oracle Forms?"

    Yes, this is possible using Oracle's Transparent Gateway. Check out the My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) document "How To Create A Form Based on SQL Server Table" (Doc ID: 564915.1) for all of the details. This document is based on Forms 10g (10.1.2.0.2) so you may need to upgrade your Forms version if you are not already at this version at a minimum.
    Hope this helps,

  • Using pl/sql to access non-apex HTML items on page

    how would i use pl/sql to access html items on a page. the items are not apex items.
    i want to loop through a set of html items on the page and do a database update on these values. the method i am using to distinguish these items from others on the page is using a custom attribute of type. i am then going to use the id as the primary key for the database.
    using javascript i can traverse through all items however i require to do it in pl/sql. i realise that i could use javascript to put all values in one apex hidden field but this would be sloppy and i want to avoid doing this.

    Hello,
    When a form submits the server never sees any custom attributes one way or the other, (this in any web environment) all anything on the server side will ever see is the value of the form item submitted. The only way to do what you want is to use javascript to collect the extra information and place it in a form item visible to APEX (a regular APEX Item).
    The javascript route isn't a work around its the only way this will work the way you want. In the product itself we use custom attributes in an htmldb: namespace so the attribute does looks like htmldb:something="value", (you should make your own namespace don't use htmldb:)
    I recommend using the namespace on your attributes instead of just shoving it in there as it will be closer to valid html or xhtml, it will still fail validation but at least you have the argument that "Hey xhtml is xml and xml allows for custom namespaces and custom attributes for that namespace so it's still good xml" not that I've ever used the argument or anything.

  • Adding data to multiple tables using one form in Access 2010?

    Hi All,
    I have a access database with two tables and I want to create a single form to enter data into that tables.
    How to adding data to multiple tables using one form in Access 2010?
    I don't have to much knowledge of access database?
    Please help me
    Thanks
    Balaji

    You really don't enter identical data into 2 tables.  You enter dat into one single table, and then you have an unique identifier that maps to another table (you have a unique relationship between two tables).
    Maybe you need to read this.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/access-help/database-design-basics-HA001224247.aspx
    Think about it this way...  What is you update data in 2 tables, and then the data in one of those tables changes, but the data in the other table does NOT change.  WHOOPS!!  Now, you've got a BIG problem.  For instance, you have a customer
    named Bill Gates.  In one Table you update Bill's address to 1835 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039 and in the other table you accidentally update Bill's address to 183 73rd Ave NE, Medina, WA 98039.  Now you have 2 addresses for Bill.  Why would
    you want that???  Which is right?  No one knows.  If you have one address, you just have to update one address and if there is a mistake, you just have to update one address, but you don't have to waste time trying to figure out which is right
    and which is wong...and then update the one that is wrong.
    Post back with specific questions.
    Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.

  • How to upload files from a form using pl/sql ?

    Hi
    Is it possible to upload the physical files outside the database (under UNIX server)using pl/sql? I already know how to store the files inside the database(wwwdoc_documents$) but I didn't find any documentation about storing the physical files outside the database.
    I have in my form the following component:
    <input type="file" name="upload">
    and I want to let the user browse for the file on his/her disc that he want to use. What I want to do next is to save a copy of that file on our file-server, and then use it in my application. How do I do that in pl/sql?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Sebas.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I like this approach as Java is more familiar to me than other languages.
    Our DBA is out of touch today, so I could not grant the javauserpriv to my database user. I tried to run the script anyway in the chance that my user had the privs, and it seemed to have hung. I am now combing Oracle's site for more documentation so I can write some tests to see if I can get a basic Java object working. Under what heading would I find this?

  • How to use Oracle SQL Developer 4.0 to connect to Ms Access file with .accdb extension

    Hi all,
    I am using Oracle SQL Developer 4.0 and Ms Access 2013 under Windows 7 (64 bits)
    After browsing and selecting MS Access file with accdb extention, I got  an error message  :[Microsoft] " Data source name not found and no default driver specified".
    On Administravitve Tools=> ODBC Data Source Administrator=>Drivers I have                                                File                                date
    Name :                                                                               Version
    Microsoft Acess Driver (*.mdb, *accdb)                                 12.00.4518.1014                                        ACEODBC.DLL                    26/10/2006
    Would you please advise?
    Thank you very much in advance

    That MS Access driver is 64-bit, I think.  If SQL Developer, or JDK is 32-bit you need to use the 32-bit driver.   You can see if you have a 32-bit driver installed using  c:\windows\system32\odbcadm32.exe

  • I want to use the SQL query IF EXIST to update or insert data in a ms access table, but it doesn´t work

    Hi,
    I want to use the SQL query IF EXIST to update or insert data in a ms access table, but it doesn´t work
    (fault number -2147217900)
    I want to search for a value in a ms access table , if it exist i want to update it, if not i want to insert a new row.
    Working with LabView 7.1, database con. toolset.
    Who can HELP?
    Thanks a lot
    Marco

    Hello,
    I think that If exist is not a standar SQL command (I know it exists I think in Oracle and SQL server), MS access doesn't support it, so I think the best way to do it is first make a Select and then either an Update or an insert, sorry...

  • Accessing MySQL InnoDB tables via JDBC using Oracle SQL Developer

    I had posted a problem in the Oracle SQL Developer forum with how that application (v1.1) accesses MySQL InnoDB tables and someone replied that the "[data migration] team created the integration with MySQL", so I am posting here in hopes of learning more about the problem.
    Here's a summary:
    When I use Oracle SQL Developer to query MySQL InnoDB tables, I need to issue a "commit" before I do each query to ensure that I am getting current results. Otherwise, it appears to be using a snapshot as-of the last commit. Is this a problem with SQL Developer, or a JDBC configuration, or MySQL problem even?
    The full details are here:
    Re: MySQL InnoDB tables

    Hi,
    I've posted a response to your original thread.

  • How I can create dynamically-formed requests or use native SQL in EJB?

    Hi all.
    I'm working around modify an example from NetWeaver Developer Studio (CarRental). I want to get ordered data from table and allow users to specify the ordering field, not in the code. EJB QL doesn't support dynamically-formed queries like "select object(b) from QuickBooking b where b.status like ?1 order by b.<b>?2</b>" so i can't passing field name as parameter into query. Creating a sorting method for every field is not good solution because I need a dynamically-formed requests.
    I think using native SQL will help but I don't know how I can use SQL in EJB.
    Thanks,
    Lev

    import javax.persistence.EntityManager;within class, place
    protected EntityManager  entityManager;of course make it public, private, whatever you need.
    Then, in your method
    entityManager.createNativeQuery(....);R. Grimes
