Using Portal to develop XML intergration apps.

Hi, Can anyone help me in the use of Portal (v3.0.9.8.0), XML
application on database (v8.1.7.0.0). The question is how does
one insert the variable values into the XML code using PL/SQL ?
The examples show hard-coded data and one cannot encapsulate
variables in the tags using the <ORACLE> tag (nested). I want to
generate dynamic XML pages using bind variables or SQL Query
results, is this possible ?

To be on topic, the course is about "motion graphics", and After Effects is an excellent, highly used tool in that trade. When creating video, Flash is used much less because it's very inferior. Again, in "motion graphics". With a robust expression scripting language in After Effects, Flash lost its footing in this department. Flash was probably only previously part of that course to deploy your video to the web, but it's not necessary or desirable due to (as kglad mentioned) Adobe discontinued Flash Player for mobile. Your target just changed to outputting MP4.
What you want to do, make apps, is a completely different world. Adobe AIR SDK is a great, frequently updated runtime that I've made dozens of apps with. Java is used with the Android SDK to make native Android apps. Objective-C with Xcode and the iOS SDK is used to make native iOS apps. Visual Studio and Azure (or HTML5/JS/CSS) are used to make Windows apps. The big difference here is the AIR SDK can get a good return on investment from re-using most of the code base of your app (depending on its type) by its scripting language porting to Android, iOS (and I think still Blackberry tabs), not Windows however.
If you want to make apps, you took the wrong class.
There are numerous frameworks out there similar to AIR that can deploy to multiple targets that are worth consideration on their own. From specific frameworks (like game-oriented) such as Unity to extremely abstract (used for anything) like Phonegap and standard HTML5 web development.
I haven't used Flash to make anything like a website in almost a decade. It's strictly been device apps, desktop apps, kiosks and product demonstrations. It's an extremely capable IDE for just about everything, except modern motion graphics.

I've tried both, adMob and Medialytics. Both Frameworks are very easily integrated with adMob being a little bit more elegant. It literally took me 5 Minutes to integrate ads in my app - from DL of the framework thru reading the docs until first run with ads!
Medialytics took a little longer to integrate...about 20 minutes I'd say but that was the analytics framework, not for ads. As far as I know medialytics is still not ready to serve ads.
Two days ago on October 5th I submitted my first app with ads. Still waiting for it to get ready for sale...

Using Google Play Developer License RSA code with Air for Android App?

What is the procedure for using Google Play Developer's provided license code (Base64-encoded RSA public key to include in your binary) for an Air for Android app in Flash?
I see the need to load a p12 file and have gone through the process of creating one for Air for iOS with OpenSSL but the Google provided key is in a different format. To start with it is delivered by copy/paste off a webpage.
I am using Flash CS5.5. I could switch to CS6 if neccesary.

Since OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser which is xmlparserv2.jar.
i have read the following article which states that
OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser. The Oracle XML parser is fully JAXP 1.1 compatible and will serve the needs of applications which require JAXP functionality. This approach does not require the download, installation, and configuration of additional XML parsers.
The Oracle XML parser (xmlparserv2.jar) is configured to load as a system level library of OC4J through it's inclusion as an entry in the Class-Path entry of the oc4j.jar Manifest.mf file. This results in the Oracle XML parser being used for all common deployment and packaging situations. You are not permitted to modify the Manifest.mf file of oc4j.jar.
It must be noted that configuring OC4J to run with any additional XML parser or JDBC library is not a supported configuration. We do know customers who have managed to successfully replace the system level XML parser and the Oracle JDBC drivers that ship with the product, but we do not support this type of configuration due to the possibility of unexpected system behavior and system errors that might occur from replacing the tested and certified libraries.
If you absolutely must use an additional XML parser such as xerces, then you have to start OC4J such that the xerces.jar file is loaded at a level above the OC4J system classpath. This can be accomplished using the -Xbootclasspath flag of the JRE.
i have also run the following command
java -Xbootclasspath/a:d:\xerces\xerces.jar -jar oc4j.jar
but no success.
How could i utilize my jar's like xerces.jar and xalan.jar for parsing instead of OC4J in-built parser ?

Error Deploying Sample Portal from Development Guide

I am going through creating a New Portal from WebLogic Portal 7 Development
Guide and I am running into the following problem.
After completing Step 2: Create the New Portal, when I try to Hot Deploy the
application, I get the following error.

The problem is that the EBCC is trying and failing to access the J2EEapplication descriptor
dtd from Sun's website.
If you can't get Internet access, here is the workaround:
- save the attached file to your harddrive (just save it to c:\)
- edit the application.xml file for your project as follows:
- first copy the entire DOCTYPE declaration and save it somewhere
in
a
separate text file (in case want to revert back to it later)
- edit the DOCTYPE declaration so that it looks like this:
<!DOCTYPE application PUBLIC '-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD J2EEApplication 1.3//EN' 'file:///application_1_3.dtd'>
( notice that the java.sun.com web address is replaced with the URI
to
the file on your harddrive)
- save your changes and hotdeploy will work with or without Internetaccess

Installing Portal server, does it include App server?

Hi All,
I hope that you can give me a pointer on this one.
I want to use Portal server to develop portlets for .
when i will install it, would it automatically install Sun Application server with it or do i have to do it seperately.
I understand there is a Identity Server that must exist.
Will it be installed too or should i do it manually and then somehow show where app server/identity servers are?
If so , how can i show portal server where App Server is.

Hi Serge,
Just run the JES installer and select to install the portal server, the installer will automatically select the pre-requisites. When doing a sandbox installation, just install all components on one server:
- application server
- portal server
- access manager
- directory server
Be sure to read the release notes and the JES installation guide.

We are having a problem with the way reports developed in Web Dynpro for ABAP displayed in the portal (the pop-ups and dropdowns look out of wack). The issue appears when we wrap the reports into portal themes (either standard or custom). As per the thread (the link for which I posted above), the suggestion was to apply WDFORCEEXTERNALSTYLESHEET parameter to the WDP, however our system doesn't have this parameter in the system, but it seems like I can create my own parameter. Can some on give me all of the properties assigned to WDFORCEEXTERNALSTYLESHEET in table WDY_APP_PROP_DEF.

Hi Brad, I was trying to apply the note 1033496 but our ABAP servers does not have the WDFORCEEXTERNALSTYLESHEET parameter available in WDY_APP_PROP_DEF table. All other notes are not applicable to our issue.
The portal is NW2004s SP12, the ABAP server is NW2004 SP11

How to create a counter using Oracle SQL Developer?

Is there any way to create a counter using Oracle SQL Developer to create the below scenario. Meaning it will recorded down the name of user and ID and time and the date they login.
Library portal home statistics shows how many users (outside and within the campus) visit the library portal.
Page Access statistics is recorded on an hourly basis. Users may select the statistics by
yearly (statistics displayed by all months in the selected year)
monthly (statistics displayed by all days in the selected month)
daily (statistics displayed by all hours in the selected day)

For the last 5 years (and in IPCC3.x/4.x,UCCX/5.x/7.x) I've used the same basic subflow to read a XML document that contains holiday dates where the queue should be closed. I've re-used this script on 20+ client installs and it's always worked. The structure of the script allows you to pass the path and filename of the XML document as parameters to the subflow. (The document is in the repository)
I loaded this script in UCCX 8.0.2 recently and it crashed with a Java.IO error. It looked like it was trying to read the file system directly and not the repository. (In the Linux appliance model this kind of makes sense but why is the step trying to read the file system directly?)
So I open a TAC case (SR# 615243125) and TAC tells me that the method of using the Create File Document step is not supported anymore and that I should specify the filename directly in the Create XML Document step
The problem that I see (aside from having to edit all my scripts that use XML files) is that the Create XML Document step is looking for the input to be a type DOCUMENT and not a type STRING. This seems to imply that I have to hardcode the document in each script that I deploy for a customer. When it was a string it was easy to construct the full file path from parameters and pass to the subflow.

#1 Am I missing something here?
#2 Do you assume that you'll be able to load a script that worked fine in UCCX 7 into UCCX 8 and that it should completely function when you're doing everything according to the step reference documentation.
#3 Cisco didn’t document this in any way that I can find.
#4 How can you use the Create XML Document step in a fashion that would let you construct the path of the file and the filename previously in the script so you could pass it to a subflow ? It would seem this functionality has been killed in UCCX 8

The input filename is a STRING, could be an explicit path and filename in the repository or a variable that represents that path and string
The output of this step is a DOCUMENT to be used in the Create XML Document step
The string FILE_FullPathHolidayFiles references en_us\folderName\documentName.xml
The document was properly uploaded into the repository only, NOT trying to directly read c:\foo\blah…

You are mixing two different issues together here.
The Create File Document step is indeed not needed or supported for creating an XML document. That is why there is a unique step; to trigger XML parsing within the MIVR subsystem.
Accessing the file system is restricted to a single folder within the VOS model (i.e. 8.0+). This folder is not backed up, replicated, or cleaned up automatically. It was intended to give developers some FS access as a temporary swap location only.

You're right, I guess, on the Create File vs. XML Document step. AFAIK Cisco never wrote a notice into the Step Reference Guide explicitly stating that you cannot use the Create File Document although the documentation seemed pretty clear to me without it. File system restrictions are documented in the 8.0 release notes.

No it hasn't; just concatinate a string to build the Source Document parameter the step needs. Example: "DOC[" + myFilePath + "]"

I downloaded OS X Lion Server using my apple developer account? Will it stay after my enrolment is over?

The title says it all. I downloaded OS X Lion Server using my apple developer account? Will it stay after my 1 year enrolment is over? I basicaly signed in and redeemed a code to download OS X Lion Server. It is now in my purchased list in the Mac App Store. But I got it by redeeming a code that I got through being an Apple Mac Developer. I wanted to know if I decided not to pay $99 next year to renew my enrolment, will I still be able to keep OS X Lion Server in my purchased list in the Mac App Store. When I click on More Apps by Apple in the Mac App Store, it takes me to the page with all their apps. OS X Lion Server says it is installed. But I want to know if it will still be in the purchased menu after the enrolment is finished and not renewed.

I am a new Mac Developer. I checked the page you gave me and I think it's more to do with topics about programming and using the developer tools and pre-release software. I don't think my question relates to any of the topics there. OS X Lion Server has already been released and is available for the public. I was planning on buying it. But before I did that I wanted to become a developer. So I enrolled in the Mac Developer program and I went to download OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 2 when I realized that I could also download the already released OS X Lion Server which was available for $50. So instead of buying it from the Mac App Store, I just got the redemption code from the Mac Developer Center and downloaded it free of charge (I did pay the $99 to be a Mac Developer though). Now it has been added to the purchased list in the Mac App Store and when I click the More Apps by Apple button in the Mac App Store, it takes me to the page with all Apple apps. And now on that page it says that OS X Lion Server has been installed. I am just wandering if once my enrollment is over next year April, and I decide not to renew my enrolment, will I still be able to have the OS X Lion Server in my list of purchased apps and still be able to re-download it? Sorry if this is too long, but I am trying to be as clear as possible. Sometimes when I ask questions, I wait a whole day and go back there, only to find out that they didn't understand what I meant. Standalone 10.1.3.1.0 - Configure app to use the data-sources on parent app

Hello:
1.- I have defined a connection pool, and a data source, for the parent app "default"
in my oc4j standalone.
2.- I read in some place, that I can use those definitions in my deployed apps,
without define a datasource for every app.
3.- Previously, I have my own data-sources.xml file in every ear file, with exactly
the same information, and in my orion-application.xml, i have a <data-source>
tag, specifying this file.
4.- Now i want to use the parent's data-sources definitions, so I remove from all my ear files, the data-sources.xml file, and the tag in the orion-application.xml, I've deployed the apps, but I can't connect to de parent datasource, so..
How can I configure my apps, to use the parent's data sources configurations?

You could also define a datasource for the OC4J instance. Then the apps deployed on it, can retrieve the datasource.

Create offline interactive forms using webdynpro java with XML data source

Hi Gurus,
I am having a scenario like below:
Sales guy request for order list online from portal- Sytem receives the request and creat XML file- from xml file need to create a Offline interactive form-Sales guy fills it offline at customer site- uploads in portal -on submit xml has to be generated with captured data at customer site-Process to ECC.
So my questions are:
How to create the offline interactive form from XML?
Once filled offline interactive form uploaded into portal how to create XML again from pdf ?
Please give some idea on this as this is my first Offline interactive form using XML datasource.

Sorry for replying lately. First of all I did not get your suggestions as your are editing the same posting.
Secondly we will be using WDJ. Actually in between SAP Portal and ECC we are having adobe LCES so we need to create Interactive form using XML only. Once it is filled again the form will be submitted to another application which is running on FLEX, which will process the order.
