Using Property Loader in a sub-sequence with multiple invocations

I'm using the Property Loader to load a different set of limits for each invocation of a sub-sequence. In my example, I have a sequence to do tests all the tests on a given RF band. But I want the ability to specify different test limits for each band.
It wasn't hard to come up with an expression based on Parameters.Band to specify different Start and End data markers in the Property Loader step. So far so good.
I don't necessarily want to override the same limits in every band. For one band, I might be happy with a default limit from the sequence file itself. Trouble is, if I don't specify a limit in the limit-file for a given band, then the limit loaded by the previous invocation of the sub-sequ
ence is still in effect. This was a surprising behaviour. There's a huge opportunity for errors to creep in here, because the limit files may be edited by "lusers", and it's hard to explain this pitfall.
Is there an easy way to make the limits reset to the sequence-file defaults before I call the Property Loader? Or alternatively, to make the loaded limits affect only the present invocation of the subsequence (the same way loading Locals only affects the present invocation?)
BTW, I'm not actually using the official TestStand Property Loader, which I find too unwieldy. We wrote our own Property Loader. But the problem is common to both. Changes to RunState.Sequence.Main... persist across invocations of the sequence.

Here I go, answering my own question again. For the benefit of anyone else who ever runs up against this...
The trick is in the Sequence Properties dialog. Turn off "Optimize Non-Reentrant Calls to This Sequence". The little comment there makes it pretty clear that this is what's needed. I tried it, and it works.

  • Can I use property loader in a main sequence to load properties in subsequence?

Hi, I have been trying to use the property loader to load test limits and local variabels into subsequences from the main sequence.
I can export all the properties for my main sequence and all the subsequences contained within by selecing <all sequences> in the export function.
When I try to load the exported file back in using the property loader I get differant errors depending on the format I exported/imported it with.
For text or csv files iget error -17100
"The file format is incorrect near the section 'StationGlobals'.  Make sure that you are using start and end markers correctly."
For an xl format I get error -18
"Property loader step failed to import or export properties.
    310 property value(s) were found.
43 property value(s) were imported from 920 row(s) of data"
There is no where near 920 rows of data or 320 properties in the exported file.
If i use the property loader to load properties in just main it works fine, is there extra formating I need to do to the file before importing it or is it not possible to load properties into a subsequence from a property loader in main?

    Hi,
I have tried several sequences and building the propertyloader file using the export tool,
Moving the End_Mainsequence to the bottem did not help.
I can load values into a single sequence with no problem it is only when I try to load properties into a sub sequence from the main sequence that I have issues.
Attached is a more simple example of what I am trying to acheive.
    Kind regards,

  • Using Property Loader with Renamed Steps

If I have a test step in a loop where the step is renamed using RenamePreviousStep after each iteration, is there a simple way to use Property Loader to load test limits corresponding to the dynamically changing test name?
The only way I have found to do this so far causes errors at runtime on the non-existent step names in the file which have to be ignored. Also it is not very slick to call PropertyLoader every time the loop iterates.
Is there a more elegant way to load limits for steps which "don't yet exist"?

How do you organise your limit file.
Do you have a different Start/End Marker for each of your iterations
so that you have the correctly named step(s) between the markers?
You could try loading an array of limits into a local array(s) from
your Limit File then index through the array as the datasource for your
limits. Remember its a PropertyLoader, so its not limited to just
limits. That way you only read it once and you are not tied to the Step
    name.
I originally had all limits within a single Start-End marker pair. Having now given each limit set an individual Start-End marker and setting PropertiesListSource dynamically in the Loader Step in the loop, that works OK.  Perhaps not so elegant still as each iteration of the loop requires a Property Loader step instead of loading everything in one hit (I'm guessing there has to be some performance overhead in multiple property loader calls vs. a single load of all limits) but at least there are no errors on the loader step now I am only loading that test which exists after the loop rename.
The alternative of loading data into arrays had ocurred to me and I may experiment with this if performance becomes an issue with the first approach.
Thanks for your reply Ray, its much appreiated.

  • Best way for using Property Loader with Excel

I am trying to architect a test system to run a variety of tests (DIO, AIO, PWM...etc) and I noticed that Property Loader can be quite handy. I am trying to find the best method to utilize NI TestStand Property Loader to load test properties from Excel into some sort of parameter database. The properties shall be loaded only once when the test sequence is opened. The parameters of the excel table will have a format like this:
    TestType TestCondition  ECUPin#   Limits.High    Limits.Low  Units  PWM_Frequency  CAN_TX   CAN_RX
    DI            ON                    1                                                                                      0x0102   0x0304
    AI            OFF                   2                0             0.1                V                                0x1324   0x0405
The table will look much more complex than this one, but once I know how to do this I should be fine. Does anyone have suggestions for what I am trying to do ?
    Thanks,
    Ayman

There are a couple methods of thought here:
Property Loader-  You can use the tool to export and import properties.  The best way to do it is to export the properties that you want in the Excel file using the tool.  Then make copies of the file and change the values in there.  This will ensure that once the values come back into TestStand they will all go to the correct place.
FileGlobals Method-  You can create a large container which has all the correct variables in it in your file globals or locals.  There is an object in the TS API called a PropertyObjectFile.  This file is a simple text file that contains the properties, sub properties and values of any property object in TS.  You can easily just pass the container into it.  The problem with this is that you then have to create a VI or some tool to edit the values in it.  You can go in there and manually change them but it's not as intuitive.
Property Loader to FileGlobal Container-  This would basically be a hybrid of the two.  Pretty much what you described in your post.  Where the property loader only has to load the container in your FileGlobals.
Which method is best? It all depends on your application.  If you ever need to dynamically export the properties then you can't use the Property Loader.
One thing to remember is that you should only Import/Export properties that need to be changed in the Excel file.  This will help reduce the number of properties.
    Hope this helps,

  • ActiveX controls disappear when VI is loaded in a Sub-Panel with Start Modal Dialog usage

    Hi,
I have a subpanel in a VI (VI1) in which another VI (VI2) is loaded. VI1 is used as a module for an Action step in TestStand. VI2 has ActiveX controls like ExpressionEdit and Adobe PDF reader etc. VI1 loads VI2 in a sub-panel and calls Start Modal Dialog.vi. I have set 'Show front panel when called' to true for VI1 so that the VI pops up when the sequence is run. When the sequence runs and when the Start Modal Dialog VI is called from VI1, all ActiveX controls in VI2 (loaded in the sub-panel) disappears. Here is the screenshot of the frontpanel of VI1 when the sequence is run:
This problem occurs in TestStand 4.2.1, TestStand 2010 and TestStand 2010 SP1 (as far as I have tested. May occur in older versions too). In the attached file, VI1 is 'ExprEdit Test.vi' and VI2 is 'SubpanelLoad.vi'. The attached sequence is developed in TestStand 2010 SP1.
How can this issue be solved?
    Thank you,

Subpanel Load ExpressionEdit problem.zip ‏23 KB

    Hi,
An update on this issue: I tried changing the order of loading the VI in the SubPanel and the start modal dialog. I called start modal dialog and then loaded the VI (VI2) in the SubPanel. When I ran the sequence, the activeX controls did not disappear (I was pretty sure that the ActiveX controls in VI2 would not disappear since I am calling Start Modal Dialog before loading the VI in the Subpanel). Then I just changed the sequence of operations back to the previous order (loading the Subpanel with the VI and then calling the Start Modal Dialog). When I ran the sequence, the activeX controls where still displayed. But when I ran the sequence with the VI1 backup (that I had taken before making all these modifications) the activeX controls were not displayed. I a nutshell, I now have 2 versions whose codes are the same. But when I run the sequence with action steps for these VIs, the activeX controls disappear when the unmodified backup VI runs and does not disappear when the modified VI is run. I have attached the files that I used along with the sequence file. The details are as follows:
ExprEdit Test (Not Working).vi - The unmodified backup VI for which the ActiveX controls disappear.
ExprEdit Test (Working).vi - The modified VIs in which the ActiveX Controls do not disappear (But same code as ExprEdit Test (Not Working).vi).
ExpreEdit Test.seq - The sequence file containing 2 action steps one each for theabove mentioned VIs.
SubpanelLoad.vi - The VI that contains activeX controls and is loaded in the SubPanel.
Note that the sequence is created in TestStand 4.2.1.
    Thank you,

  • Property loader in .csv Format : Error with list of Numbers

    Hi,
I need to change property files from the .xls format to the .csv format so that I won't need to install Ms Office on the Test Station PC.
Everything works is .csv format except for variales containing lists of numbers.  Here is an example.
This variable contains the channel list to send to a Digital Multimeter.  A string containing all channel numbers seperated by comas (The DMM model is Agilent  34070A).
I create a variable named ChannelList of type string containing : "101,102,103,104,105"
When exporting to property file (Using Tools-Import/Export properties), TestStand will write the following line is .csv format :
    ChannelList,"101,102,103,104,105"
When trying to import this property value with a property loader I get the following error :
    Runtime Error Occured
    Error evaluating expression:Runstate.Sequence.locals.ChannelList = (""101")
    Unexpected Token: 101
What puzzles me is that teststand is not even capable of reading its own exported property within a newly created file.
    Any ideas?
    TestStand 2013
    Thanks in advance
    Nien

    Nien,
This is a known issue and we are looking into this issue in future version of TestStand.
There are couple of approaches for fixing the problem:
    1. Use a different character for comma in the property loader file. After importing the data, replace the character with comma using TestStand expression in the sequence file.
    2. Use Tab Delimited Text format instead of CSV format.
    3. We can see that, property loader is using expression to update the value of the property (The exact expression is specified in the error message you have posted). In a text editor, update the csv file to have the value as
    ChannelList,101""+Chr(44)+""102""+Chr(44)+""103""+Chr(44)+""104""+Chr(44)+""105
This will create the expression such that, the value of ChannelList property will become 101,102,103,104,105
Note: This is just a workaround and you should use this approach with caution.
    Thanks,
    Shashidhar

  • How to use BAM to start an XI message with multiple occorrences

    Hi:
I am trying to use BAM to send some data to XI. It is working fine when I have a message that has only header information. I am able to do the binding and the message is being sent properly.
The problem is when I have a XI message with multiple occurrences. This message creates a complex proxy structure like the sample bellow:
    -ZTSTPROXY (Header)
        -Header_Field1
        -Header_Field2
        -Occurrences (Items)
         -Item_Field1
         -Item_Field2
It is possible to pass data the he Header fields separately on BAM, but I have no access to the line fields on BAM binding screen (it shows me only the name “Occurrence” but no field).
So, I assumed that I have to pass the whole structure, not the fields separately. Then I tried to create a method on my Business Object that will return the same structure as my proxy, but this field cannot be used on BOR. I am receiving the message OL403 (Data Type cannot be used for methods).
Ok, I would not give up. I tried to use an Abap Class instead of a Business Object. By using the class I can define an attribute with the same data type generated by the proxy and it is possible to do the bind on BAM (directly to the “output” field, not to the specific fields on the structure).
But, when I raised the event, the message created on XI is empty. Only part of the tags were there and no field values.
Debugging on the event, I found that the problem is when it is trying to assign the container element on the method EVAL_ABAP_ASSIGN_CODE on the class CL_SWF_EXP_EXPRESSION. The program is raising the exception CX_SWF_EXP_DYN_ASSGIN_FAILED. Probably because the proxy structure is not allowed on the container.
Has anybody tried to pass a multi-line element to an XI message through BAM? How can this be done (if possible)?
    Best Regards,
    Flavio.

    Hi,
why don't you use an internal list for your question if you are from Oracle? JDeveloper 11 and OC4J11 related questions for the public technology preview have their own forum:

  • How to access the Requirements property (& subproperties) of steps and sequences with the TestStand API

The concept of associating teststand objects to unit requirements for traceability purposes was added to TS 3.5, and I need to find out how to access the array of strings used to store unit requirements in step objects, sequence objects and sequencefile objects. The teststand help file points out that the requirements list of a sequencefile object is accessible using the PropertyObjectFile interface, and also points out that Requirements is a property of the sequence and step classes. Furthermore it implicitly states that the requirements property has a Links subproperty which is an array of strings, but that is pretty much the extent of the documentation on this new feature so far. There seems to be no expression function available to get to those requirements either.
I know that this feature was added to allow TestStand to interface with RG, and I am planning on using RG, but I would also like to do things with the requirements information within TestStand.
    Anyone?

Are you talking about the Requirements Gateway?  It is a separate product from NI that will do what you are looking for.  I haven't used it so I am not sure of the API chain to make it work.  Take a look and see if that is what you were thinking of.
    Hope that this helps,
    Bob Young
Sorry, I just re-read your original post and see that you are looking to also use the Requirements Gateway, so you obviously know about it.  I don't know what the API changes were that made it work so I am not going to be much help.
Sorry about posting before getting the correct information from the original.

  • Using the same action sequence with multiple buttons and exclusive conditional interactions

    Hi all,
first of all, pardon me for my english and if I post questions already answered, but I can't find anything about that.
I'm new to flash and I decided to use Flash Catalyst to speed up the building process of a multimedia presentation for university.
I have a menu with 10 buttons that change a text box on rollover (I converted it to a button label) and I need to reset the name of the current page on RollOut. Since the action sequence for it is the same of every button on one page, is there a faster way to apply the sequence than repeating it for every button? (I had to do it 10x10=100 times... and what if I made some mistake? )
Another question is I want to disable the interaction of the menu button of the current page, but conditional interaction let me choose only an "if in state" condition an not a "if not in state". How can I do this? should I simply disable the button on that page?
Thanks a lot for the help!
    Cheers from Italy

I answered to myself by grouping buttons and disabling the button in his state.
    Thanks anyway!

  • Load data from a file with multiple record types to a single table-sqlldr

We are using two datastores which refer to the same file. The file has 2 types of records header and detail.

Can someone help in loading these lines from one file with only two data stores(not 2 separate files) using File to Oracle(SQLLDR) Knowledge Module.

    Hi,
Unfortunately the IKM SQLDR doesn't have the "when" condition to be wrote at ctl file.
If you wish a simple solution, just add an option (drop me a email if you want a LKM with this)
    The point is:
With a single option, you will control the when ctl clause and, for instance, can define:
    1) create 2 datastores (1 for each file)
    2) the first position will be a column at each datastore
    3) write the when condition to this first column at the LKM in the interface.
    Does it help you?

  • How to use the Load Balancer Plug-in to serve multiple domains

In SJSAS8.1 SE/EE the asadmin commands that create and maintain a load balancer configuration operate within a domain. When the load balancer configuration is exported an xml file is created that contains all the information for that domain. To make the load balancer plug-in balance the load for multiple domains, the loadbalancer.xml files can be manually merged to conatin the data that is exported from each domain's load balancer configuration.
For example, 2 domains are created, both having a load balancing configuration. After exporting both configurations using the asadmin export-http-lb-config command, the user would then cut and past the cluster information into the single loadbalancer.xml file that resides under the web server's config directory.
An example of the manually merged loadbalancer.xml file follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

  • Load balancing of PIX firewalls with multiple DMZs

I need a suggestion about how to balance the traffic through two PIX firewalls, with 4 interfaces (IN,OUT,DMZ1,DMZ2)
In all the documentation related to the subject, I see always the firewalls with only two interfaces:
    http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/117/fw_load_balancing.html
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/webscale/css/advcfggd/firewall.htm
What if I need to balance on more than 2 interfaces?
Do I have to add more content switches, one for each interface ?
Or could I use VLANs inside the same content switches, and assign the ports to DMZs appropriately ?
Thank you in advance for any help.

We just had some internal discussions about that at my work, and the suggestion from a local cisco specialist was, if you want to levarage load balacing over multiple DMZ's, then you get the CSS blades for the 65xx's. Right now we have mulriple CSS and LD failover pairs (One pair for each DMZ) and it is starting to become expensive, while we aren't really utilizing the full capacity of them. If you get the Blades, they have Gigabit traces to the backplane of the switch, and you can use them for as many poers as you have on the 6500.
Then again, it depends on if physical security is essential to you, and you are concerned with L2 attacks (VLAN Hopping, etc) There are tradeoffs and benefits when using a consildated infrastructure.

  • What are the steps to using camera & color space matching on footage with multiple cameras?

    Hi there,
I am new to speedgrade, and need to use the Camera and Color Space Matching technique to automatically color correct my sequence which contains footage from multiple cameras. I have watched all the videos on speedgrade on AdobeTV and lynda.com that I can find, but haven't been able to find one that actually shows me how to do so. Can anyone point me to a video/tutorial where I could learn the steps for the process or outline them for me if that is easier?
    Thanks!

I'm in the same boat.  There is a new 'camera matching' function that premiered at NAB 2013, but when will it be actually available...?   As to your original question, look up getting a proper White and Black balances with each camera first. Learn how to work with HSL and RGB values etc, and I think Karl Seoule has some videos that cover this under 'Color Finesse' vids at Adobe TV.  Also check out the '3-Way Color Corrector' tuts and "Secondary Color Correction' tuts as well.  And finally either on Adobe TV or Creative Cow there is on video that actually talks about matching either 2 shots or 2 cameras as well.
All this is to say here is no easy/simple way.  I'm hoping when Adobe introduces the Color Matching in Speed Grade we can just use stills as reference in Speed Grade, develop 'looks' that match the cameras and then apply the looks in Premiere without having to use the huge .dpx files that we have to use in Speed Grade now, but that may just be part of the process.

We have one 400mbit pipe out to the internet, and all of our clients are given public-facing IPs to the internet. A caching server would be great, especially on update days. All wireless clients are on the same subnet, which is where I'd like the server to be serving the cached copies.
I have installed Mavericks on a fresh machine, downloaded OS X Server 3.0.3, and attempted to start the caching service. This is what I get.
    Unable to start service.
Caching cannot be run on a public network. Consult documentation.
How can I get this up and running?

The way the Caching server works is that the server will be accessing the Internet and when doing so traffic will be coming from it via a particular public IP address. Usually this will not be the address of the server itelf but your router as for most networks NAT is used. In this by far more common scenario the client Macs (and likely iOS devices) will be going through the same router and hence show up via the same public IP address.
If the client request is the same as the address registered via the Caching server then Apple redirect the request via the Caching server.
The setup would look something like this -
               Internet
                    |
                Router (with NAT)
                    |
      (LAN)     +------Caching Server-----Client devices
With this setup because everything is using the same public IP address Apple can reasonably assume everything is on the same network and trigger a redirection to your Caching server.
If you try a setup like the following with the Caching server having its own public IP it will not work because the Caching server and client devices will have different public IP addresses
               Internet
                   |
               Router (no NAT)-------------------+
                   |                                      |
                Firewall (with NAT)       Caching Server
                   |                                      |
                   |                                      |
    (LAN)     +-----Client devices-----------+-----------
Your configuration as described is more like the following
               Internet
                   |
               Router (no NAT)
                   |
    (LAN)     +------Caching Server-----Client devices
With yours not having NAT each device has its own public IP address including the Caching server and Apple cannot redirect traffic as it thinks they are on different networks.
