Using property value in Allocation Logic.

Hi All,
Can we use a property value from one dimension as ID for different dimension in the Allocation Logic?
I have a category Actual which has a value of 2011 in the property YEAR.
I need to use 2011 in DIM TIME statement. If somehow i can get the 2011 value into a variable then i can use that variable in the DIM TIme statement.
EX:
*SELECT(%TIMEYEAR%,"ID",.....................................)   (This is where i need help ..in writing the statement)
DIM TIME WHAT = [YEAR]=%TIMEYEAR%;  WHERE = %TIMEYEAR%(1).INP;   USING = %TIMEYEAR%(1).INP;
This would mean:
DIM TIME WHAT=[YEAR]=2011;   WHERE=2012.INP;   USING=2012.INP;
Can we get this to work in Allocation Logic?I need to know if i can get the value of the property into the variable?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
KK

Hi
I believe using the category property "YEAR" in the logic may not be a good idea. In case of next year, you need to change the property value "YEAR" to 2012...... and so on.
If you want to bring the current year as variable you can use system variable %YEAR%
%YEAR% - Returns current calendar year
DIM TIME WHAT = YEAR=%YEAR%; WHERE = %YEAR%(1).INP; USING = %YEAR%(1).INP;
Try and let me know
Thanks

  • Use property value in *REC EXPRESSION statement

    Hi,
How can I use the value of a property in a *REC EXPRESSION statement.
Assuming I have a property PRIORYEAR in my TIME dimension that indicates the same period in the previous year
    Example: ID: 2009.JAN, PRIORYEAR=2008.JAN
I want to fetch the value from the PRIORYEAR with something like:
    *REC(EXPRESSION=([TIME].PRIORYEAR),ACCOUNT="RENTASPERCSALES")
But it won't work. I tried few other options such as
    *REC(EXPRESSION=([TIME].CurrentMember.Properties("PRIORYEAR")),ACCOUNT="RENTASPERCSALES")
    to no avail.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Regis

    Hi Regis,
Just checking, have you tried using 'TMVL' function in your script logic. Please check the help.sap for the usgae and some examples.
We could use TMVL in all the following places.
    - in a 'WHEN' statment
    - in an REC expression
    - and also in a scoping statement.
We had some issues validating the script logic with TMVL in SP04 and teh same have been resolved in SP05. You might have to write the logic and validate the logic if your BPC version has any SP related issues.
    Example:
    *WHEN TIME
    *IS TMVL(-1, 2010.DEC)
    *REC(FACTOR=1, TIME=201.DEC)
    *ENDWHEN
we could also use TMVL with a data manager prompt value such %TIME_SET%.

  • Addition of values after allocation logic instead of overwrite 7.50.05 NW

    Hi Gurus
I am writing an allocation logic where I am allocating some values in a ratio of sales. but there is already some value in the fields i am allocating into and after this logic, the new vales are overwriting the existing one. But my requirement is to add those values in exsting values. Please let me know how to do it.
as a work around, I am copying the values into a differnt account, then running the allocation on that one and then adding this into the original account. is there any easier way for this.
    Regards
    Swathi

    Hi Swathi,
Overwriting is the nature of planning. So, not only allocation overwrites results - all planning functions do this. The only exception is if you do multiple calculations in same construct - those will be added. Reason for this is, that user can run same planning function multiple times and you don't want those results to add up.
So, if you want to summarize what was there before allocation and after you have to have additional Dimension, DataSrc for example, and have values in that Dimension different in existing data and in allocated. This will keep them separate. In report, do not show break-down by that additional Dimension and you'll see total of the old value and the new one.
Please let me know if this is not what you were looking for.

  • Fetching property value in script logic!!

    Hello Experts,
We are using BPC 7.5 M, I am working on a script logic and need to fetch a value of a property of a dimension member where dimension member is itself defined in some property.
We have a Org dimension which has a property "FORECAST_UNIT" and this property contains a member Id of Org dimension itself, In my script logic I need to fetch value of "Currency" property for the Org dimension member defined in "FORECAST_UNIT" property.
    Please Advice.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rohit

    Hi Roberto,
Attached code (In Image) is of our Aggregate Forecast Unit logic, Every Org (Entity) has an forecasting unit defined in Forecasting unit property in Org dimension and Forecasting unit is also a member of Org dimension, below logic aggregates the data at Forecasting unit level:
The issue is that I need to check before the code marked in Red executes that if Org-- Forecasting unit -- Currency is USD then only Red part of logic should execute.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Script logic - how to use a selection variable within an allocation logic

    Hi,
I want to implement a simple top-down distribution to distribute values from a yearly budget (Y20xx.TOTAL) to a quarter budget (Q20xx.Q1, ... Q20xx.Q4) using the actuals of the previous year as reference.
If we hard code the members it works fine:
    *RUNALLOCATION
    *FACTOR=USING/TOTAL
    *DIM ACCOUNT WHAT=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; WHERE=BAS(FIN); USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM TIME WHAT=Y2009.TOTAL; WHERE=BAS(Q2009.TOTAL); USING=BAS(Q2008.TOTAL); TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM CATEGORY WHAT=SBO; WHERE=<<<; USING=ACTUAL; TOTAL=<<<
    *ENDALLOCATION
Of course, we want to make this dynamic, using the values inputted in the selection screen of the package: time, entity and category.
So if we start with write the following logic, it does not work anymore:
    *RUNALLOCATION
    *FACTOR=USING/TOTAL
    *DIM ACCOUNT WHAT=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; WHERE=BAS(FIN); USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM TIME WHAT=%TIME_DIM%; WHERE=BAS(Q2009.TOTAL); USING=BAS(Q2008.TOTAL); TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM CATEGORY WHAT=%CATEGORY_DIM%; WHERE=<<<; USING=ACTUAL; TOTAL=<<<
    *ENDALLOCATION
So, how to use the selection variables in this allocation logic? %TIME%, %CATEGORY% also did not work ...

    solved it ...

    Hi Dries,
Looks like you solved this, but if I can just add a small point -- when you use syntax like this:
    *DIM ACCOUNT WHAT=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; WHERE=BAS(FIN);
    *DIM TIME WHAT=Y2009.TOTAL; WHERE=BAS(Q2009.TOTAL);
each time the logic runs, it will scan through the dimension from the FIN and Q2009.TOTAL members, one level at a time, until it reaches the base members (where calc = 'n'). This may happen very quickly, if the dimension has very few levels, but could take a bit of extra time if it's a particularly deep dimension. (By which I mean many levels of hierarchy -- not some 1970's Pink Floyd musical reference.)
You may speed things up by using a member property instead of the BAS(xyz). Flag all the base members using a specific property value, and that way the logic engine can pick up the complete list of members in the WHERE clause, in a single query.
    *DIM Account What=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; Where=[FloydProperty]="DarkSideOfTheMoon"; ...
This adds some maitenance work in the dimension, which may be problematic if your admins are changing it regularly (and will cause problems if they forget to update this particular property).
I can't predict how much time this will save you (maybe not much at all), but anyway I figure you'd want to know exactly what work you're asking the system to perform.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • [ASK] Get One Row of Property Value From Dimension in Script Logic

Hello, i need help about how to get one row of property value from dimension in script logic.
Let say there is CATEGORY dimension and the members are like this :
    ID                                                  YEAR   Status
    PLAN_2011                                   2011        A
    PLAN_2011_V1                            2011        I
    ACTUAL_2011                              2011        I
    FORECAST_2011                         2011        I
    FORECAST_2011_V1                  2011        A
    PLAN_2012                                  2012        A
    PLAN_2012_V1                           2012        I
    ACTUAL_2012                             2012        I
    FORECAST_2012                         2012        I
    FORECAST_2012_V1                  2012        A
If i scope CATEGORY like this :
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET CATEGORY = [CATEGORY].PROPERTIES("YEAR") = "2011"
Then i will get member scope like this :
    PLAN_2011                                   2011        A
    PLAN_2011_V1                            2011        I
    ACTUAL_2011                              2011        I
    FORECAST_2011                         2011        I
    FORECAST_2011_V1                  2011        A
    Question :
In script logic, how can i read the second record of scope and move it to variable ?
Ex. : I read second record, so i can get the data of second record (PLAN_2011_V1, 2011, A).
Is there any function to read all record that had been scope ? So i can read all those 5 records.
Is there any substring or offset function in script logic ? How to use it ?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Firstly, when we scope the logic, it doesnt fetch the entire record from the member sheet. It just fetches the ID.
Secondly, we dont have the feasibility to read only the second ID and skip the others. However, one alternative is that you use the SELECT statement to store all the IDs in a variable, and then use a FOR loop. But this will loop through all the 5 IDs, as per your example. If you want to skip all the IDs except one, you should maintain some property, so that all the IDs are neglected which doesnt have a particular property value.
    Hope you got the idea.

    Hi,
How to get Document Set property values in a SharePoint library into a CSV file using Powershell?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to you want to get document set property value in a SharePoint library and then export into a CSV file using PowerShell.
I suggest you can get the document sets properties like the PowerShell Command below:
    [system.reflection.assembly]::loadwithpartialname("microsoft.sharepoint")
    $siteurl="http://sp2013sps/sites/test"
    $listname="Documents"
    $mysite=new-object microsoft.sharepoint.spsite($siteurl)
    $myweb=$mysite.openweb()
    $list=$myweb.lists[$listname]
    foreach($item in $list.items)
    if($item.contenttype.name -eq "Document Set")
    if($item.folder.itemcount -eq 0)
    write-host $item.title
Then you can use Export-Csv PowerShell Command to export to a CSV file.

We had the same issue after applying the SP2 & August CU. we open the case with MSFT and get the same resolution as you mentioned.
I blog about this issue and having the office reference.
Later MSFT release the Hotfix for this on December 10, 2013 which i am 100% positive should be part of future CUs.
So if you apply the April CU then you will be fine.

  • Why knob need to use property node to change its value

Refer boiler vi in CLD exam sample question.
In the vi the knob vlaue is changed with a property node, it is not wired directly to a constant. The comment in the vi is something like "writing using property node because of the latch action of the booleans in the cluster"...
Huh? How do the booleans influence the knob even though they are in a same cluster? What principle is this called? I need to google this up,  I didn't read it in.

That comment doesn't make any sense.
There are two main reasons I can think of why you want to use a Value property node.
    1.  You want to control the order of execution by using the error wire.
    2.  You want to use a property node on multiple controls by feeding it references to different controls.
Neither of these appear to apply in the screenshot you show.
However, looking deeper, it looks like you can set the value of a specific item in the cluster by way of the property node.  Check out the Link to section of its shortcut menu.  I don't think you can use a local variable to set a given element of the cluster.  Now you could change the value of the entire cluster.  Read the cluster, bundle the new value for that one element, write to a local variable of the cluster.  But you won't be allowed to do that because of the latched booleans that are a part of the cluster.  Hover over the context help of that property node and read the description there as well.

  • Can evgts be used to pull a total based on a property value?

can evgts be used to pull a total based on a property value?
    for example evgts(act,cc,pc,,time,acct.property='PPE")

    Hi Steven,
I assume you want to "EVGTS" the total value af accounts whose property is "PPE". This is not possible as any retrieval requires value readily available from the cube.
In such case you may need to use dimension formula (calculated account) to roll up data based on property. Quick and dirty option is to fetch the data with EVDRE (can only be used with small quantities of data) and summarize on the worksheet.
    Hope this helps,

  • Why is the first value missing in the Chart when I use Property Nodes to clear my Charts programatically ?

    Hello everybody,
I am using Property Nodes to clear my Charts right at the beginning of the program. The Property Nodes (History) are outside a While-loop.
When I connect a Chart with the counter-variable "i" inside a While-loop, the first point I see in the Chart is (0,1) instead of (0,0). It looks like the Chart misses the first point !
If the Chart is outside the While-loop the Chart displays all points.
Can anyone please explain this behaviour ? How can I solve this problem ?
    Thanks,
    Cesar

Make sure you have the error output from the property node connected to
the loop border. Even if the error os not used in the loop, this will
ensure that the property node clears the chart before the loop starts
    running.
What is probably happening is the loop start running at the same time
the chart is being cleared, so the first point is also being cleared.
