Using results of other reports of a Dashboard

Hi there,
i've created a Dashboard with some requests on it.
Now i want to use the result of a report to do calculation on a further report.
Is it possible to save the result of a report in a variable or is there any other way to use the result of a report in another Report?

Thanks wildmight for your suggestion,
the thing is that I can't create calculated columns on BMM because the results are calculated with subqueries.
I need to do a calculation like
z = x * y
x := count of Customers who have bought Product1 and not Product2 (calculated with subqueries)
y := average Revenue of Product2
Product1 and Product2 are prompted
I dont know how I could calculate this two statements in one report.

Formula using results of 2 reports

Hello,
New to Crystal Reports... I have 2 existing reports, and I want to create a report that calculates a metric, using the results of the 2 reports, linked by the grouping that I used in each.
e.g.
- Report A from table 1 counts all shipments by date, grouped by month
- Report B from table 2 sums hours of network outage, grouped by month
I want to calculate (sum of hours outage)/(running total of shipments), and display graphically by month
Working with subreports, I have only been able to pass one single value to the main report, not all values by month to do the math
I would imagine this is a pretty simple task, I have done this using other tools, but have not found a simple way in Crystal Reports yet. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks, this is helpful. But when I create the shared variables, I am still only passing a single value to the main report (the most recent value of the variable). Each subreport contains formulas to calculate values I need and lists them against a date/time. e.g.
Subreport A calcuates outage hours, and shows what datetime the outage started:
Hrs DateTime
Subreport B shows total shipments by datetime:
CountShipments DateTime
Hrs and CountShipments are the shared variables.
I want to divide Sum(Hrs)/(CountShipments) and graph for each month.
Any method of doing this that you are familiar with?

Using results of different reports into another

Hi,
I have two reports which two different subject areas
SA1 and SA2
I have a report R1 in SA1 which gives productid and stocklevel based on some conditions
I have a report R2 in SA2 which gives productid and stocklevel based on different conditions for the same productid which is used in R1
Now i need to subtract the stocklevel for the products
that is i have to match the R1.productid with the R2.productid and find R1.stocklevel- R2.stocklevel.
Is there any way of finding them in the answers...

Empty Report Layout in Dashboard instead of NO RESULTS

Hi I am using OBIEE 11.1.1.5
I have created some reports
When I give some filter conditions I expect it to display No results
But What I am getting is an Empty Report Layout with the Column Headings and Grand Total without any values in the cell
Have anybody experienced it
What is the reason for it and How to Overcome this

Try this way,
How to do this--
Please create No Result report and apply using( Guided Navigation) to main report
1. Drag the no result report in your dashboard.
2. Click this report Guided Navigation Properties --> Reference Source Request -- YES then ----select this report path into -- Source Request- then Show section--- select this option (If request returns Noting).
3. The out put like if there is no date you will get NO Result report.
Please do work around here.

Hi Indu,
If I understand you correctly, you want to create the query once but run mulitple reports of it. Is it okay if the reports are in tabs within the same document or do they have to be in separate documents?
If the later it is not really possible. There are a few options
It is possible to use a query create in QaaWS, but there is no schedule option around this, so every call is on demand.
Also you can create instances of reports using Web Intelligence/Crystal Reports and have more that one Live Office document/Xcelsius dashboard point to the instance. In this event you are runnig the query once and using the displaying it in different reports.
Finally, if you just want to reuse a query from one report to another then you can copy and paste the report and change the report layout.

I would like to know if we have any option in OBIEE where in we can save the output of a report and use it as a filter for another report?
My scenario is like:
1) I have a report on ORDERS which gave me 250 orders.
2) I want to have a report on SHIPMENT table for these 250 Orders.
Can we save the result of report 1 as a filter and use it in 2nd report?

How to Use views of one report to other reports

I have so many reports with same views like static text, header & footer .
My question is: I have created these views on some reports which are same to all reports as i said. Now i want to use these views from the existed reports without creating once again which takes long time to ensure that size and color everything should be same for all reports for those views.
Can any body give an idea how to make use the views of one report to other reports...?

I have achieved using Headers & Footers in another report through import formatting from another analysis option presents in compound layout view.
But i unable to get the remaining views like static, Legend....etc. into another reports....

You can use OpenDocument, URL reporting.
e.g.

No its not possible to display list of reports in dashboard prompts.
Can do this using SQl results in prompt(we write query checking out report names manualy),but its not easy thing if you are having many report names to be displayed.

500 Internal Server error for a single report in a dashboard

Hi All,
I had an issue with a report in a dashboard i.e.., In a dashboard a report is prepared by using the opaque view. When I ran the report in a dashboard it ran for about 15 to 20 mins and the report is excuted with the data. Now I tried to downlaod the data for that particular report into the excel sheet by using the option Download to Excel. At this stage after 5 mins I am facing the Internal serevr error. But strange behaviour is that it downloads sometimes and sometimes it does'nt. One more important thing is that I tested the query in backend and it took around 6 to 7 mins to fetch the data. The total no of rows for the query is only 166. So can anyone please give me some suggestions or we can have a discussion as this report is behaving strangely. One more thing I forgot to mention is that they used session variables as parameters in the query for two fields which they used in the opaque view to build that report.

LO 02010 / LO 26631 error while embedding a crystal report in a Dashboard

Hi Experts,
I am trying to embed a crystal report in a Dashboard Design using LiveOffice 4, and i am getting the below error.
"An error occurred while opening the report. The report does not exist; you have insufficient rights to open the report; or you cannot make a connection to the BusinessObjects Web Service. (LO 02010)" and "Crystal Reports Java Format is not supported. (LO 26631)"
I am logging in as an administrator and the report does exist in the CMC.

We did a upgrade from BOBJ 3.1 to 4.0 recently, and need to migrate the existing dashboards. DB connections to the reports have changed, hence the need to embed the migrated reports to the dashboard.
Yes, I get this error when i try to embed a crystal report in dashboard. I do get the same error when trying to embed a WEBi report too. As you suggested, i tried inserting a sample crystal report, and that inserts like a charm.
Pls. advice.

This information is then currently exported to MS-Excel to produce a report containing graphs, pie charts etc.

To present output from our Spend Analysis Report in a more readable dashboard type presentation. This facility should allow easy manipulation (slice and dice) and drill down of the data.. Our requirement is to have something operating within a very short time-frame, say within a month or two. Although you might suggest Web Dynpro Business Graphic or SEM /BW (as the optimal solution) we understand the set up time for either of these solutions is prohibitive. Visual Composer has been suggested as another option but we have no in-house expertise to determine if this is a viable solution.

which was proposed as a quick way to present SAP 'raw' report output in a more readable form. Other solutions in this space that have been suggested include:-

Filter Based on other report not working

Hi Gurus,
I am using OBIEE 10g.
I have a Dashboard page in that i have a prompt and 2 reports,(A, B reports). Report B is using the same columns as prompt where as report A not.
Report A has columns which hold the same data as report B, so i thougt to pass the values based on Report B column using the filter based on other report. I am able to complete it succssfuly but Report A is not having amount of data that i was excepting. When i started investigating i found out that the column which i am using in the prompt and report B have values ( NEW, OLD, NULL) report A able to take the values NEW and OLD but the NULL values are not passing to report A. In report B it is taking null value as it has filter as prompted.
Is it any way to have the values (NEW, OLD, NULL) in report A?
