Using SharedObject between multiple apps

Assuming I own and have access to two different apps' SharedObject variables ... is it possible to save settings from Game A and have it be remembered in Game B?
Essentially, I'm just trying to bring settings from a "Lite" version of a game and if users choose to purchase and install the "Full" version, all of their settings from the "Lite" version will be remembered, saving them some hassle.
Is this possible? Or is there a better way altogether that I just don't know about? Thanks!

I think SharedObjects can only be seen by the app that created them. If you find otherwise, please let me know!
I also wanted to share saved data from a lite game and a full game, but I think I would have had to use SQLite to achieve this.
In the end I just set some of the early levels of the full version to be unlocked by default.

Sharing SharedObjects between multiple .swfs

Relatively simple problem; I have a project that I think may be more manageable if I break it up into multiple small .swf files rather than having a gargantuan mega .swf.
Now, I know that I could use a root .swf and load data from the others, but I think that it'll be a lot easier to debug and update if I'm using separate self-contained .swfs, so this is the direction I'm currently investigating.
However, the .swfs won't really work unless I can have user-data persist between them, so I'm wondering if I can load a SharedObject saved by another .swf file? Are there any important caveats that I need to be aware of?
In particular, can anyone give me sample code that would allow me to do this with both an online and offline copy of the files; i.e - if I run the same set of .swfs from haravikk.com, and locally, I want them to still be able to share data with one-another. In this case though I won't need to worry about sharing data between a local copy and haravikk.com, just so long as the files themselves can pass data within whatever domain they're loaded it should be fine.

To do this I still need to make sure that all .swfs are retrieving/flushing their SharedObjects to the same domain though, right?
I'm curious, is there a good way to work out what the right domain is dynamically?
For example; say I have "Menu.swf", and "About.swf", both store in the same folder "MySite", so the files are located at "MySite/Menu.swf" and "MySite/About.swf" respectively. To avoid tying the files to a particular domain-name (so it can still work offline) I'd like to grab the current location of the .swf, and remove the file-name so that I have a domain containing just the enclosing folder.
Is there a best way to do this? Basically so I can have my .swf files using a consistent domain for storing/saving, while still supporting relocating the files, so they will work offline if I copy them to my local machine for example.

Hey. You could create your own custom formula which you would code. Then that formula is reuseable in the formula builder. That should get you where you need to be.

Discoverer worksheet: working with data between multiple sheets

Hi All,
Is there a way to use data between multiple discoverer worksheets? What I am trying to do is combine data from different worksheets and display that data in another sheet. I believe it is not possible in discoverer at the moment (I might be wrong). I am not being able to do this any other way, because the data to be calculated requires user input. Which is (to my knowledge) only possible by using parameters via the worksheets. If there is a workaround, please let me know.

Your best best is a custom folder within the EUL and then create the parameters based on the custom folder.
If you don't want to do that you can join can create bogus joins between two folders by created an item called "join" or something like that and then get all the tables pulled into each other. Performance will likely be messy and require careful use of conditions, summations, etc... due to the fact the join will essentially be a Cartesian join of two tables.
To answer your direct question: No, there is no way to reference other worksheets for display purposes within discoverer.

Decision Between Multiple Alternatives-Process Chain Formula

Hi,
I need to write a formula in the process type 'Decision Between Multiple Alternatives'.
If the current date is on the end of month then i need to trigger a monthly snapshot dataflow if not then daily dataflow needs to be triggered.
Anyone have any idea of how to write a formula for this?

Multiple Apps, Using Spaces, need more flexibility.

Hello all,
I am a novice web designer and still very new to mac os.
Between the compliment of Adobe apps, an ftp client, firefox, bbedit and your random textedit, At timess, I 'm struggling to keep my apps in place. I'm quite literally using all of my screen real estate on most (if not all) of my spaces.
I'm restricted into branching out into other spaces due to the fact that I'm a FireFox, FireBug, FireFTP kind of mac user and have yet to find a way to enable the usage of ONE application between multiple spaces (WITHOUT it 'following' me from to space to space).
With so many applications open in a limited space, it seems like something is always getting knocked out of place, not to mention it's time consuming always having to setup the same configuration. I have yet to find a way to keep everything rigid and in place, does antyone know of a way to accomplish this?
An "advanced tab" to further configure spaces, a file management program that enables more rigid application controls?
Or is there just a much better way to accomplish this?

I've set all of the programs I need for normal projects to open on specific spaces using the Spaces preferences. I know where they will come up as soon as I launch them. Several of my programs are set to launch at boot because I use them all the time, and they are already open on their space desktop when I want to use them.
I've been using dual monitors since OS 7.5 - Pretty nice for putting all of the menu's on a second monitor while working with graphics or pages on the main monitor. The adapter you buy for $20 can be for DVI or VGA monitors.
Spaces works fine this way. I run 9 spaces (in a 3 X 3 grid) as a limit because I change spaces by using the Control + a number key combo, and you can only use single digits and can't choose 0... Still this does privide me with 18 working spaces and the programs stay where they belong. You can use the Arrow keys to change spaces, but I don't keep track of my app's spatially. I've got a list on the wall to remind me if I get rubber-headed.
Finder is set to work on all spaces so that folder windows don't disappear on me while working with different files in a project folder.

unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

Encrypting communication between an app that uses an ODBC/DSN (with ADODB) and SQL Server 2008 R2

I've been doing a lot of reading the last couple of days on how we can encrypt db communication between our product app and a customer's SQL Server db, but cannot make it work as expected. The app uses a ODBC/DSN to connect to the SQL Server db. I use this
ODBC app to setup the DSN (on a Windows 7 PC):
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
The DSNconnection uses the SQL Server driver 6.01.7601.17514 and has these properties:
- WinNT authentication.
- Client Config button: TCP/IP to <server-name>\<instance.-name>
- Change to default db: <name-of-app-db>
- Everything else is default setting.
SQL Server is on the same Windowns 7 PC and has a self-signed cert installed (used IIS to generate it) and has the Force Enryption set to "yes".
I have a test C# program that uses the ADODB 2.7.0.0 COM-wrapper, made by Visual Studio after adding a reference to the ADO 2.7 library version 6.1.7601.17857. The program creates an ADODB.Connection object that has a simple connection string: "DSN=<san-name>;UID=<user>;PWD=<password>". The
program then creates an ADODB.Recordset object and reads and displays a field from a table.
Works fine.
If I go into SQL Server and set Force Encryption to "no," clear the cert, restart the SQL service, and then re-run the program, it works fine.
Here's the kick. If I go into the DSN and select "Use strong encryption for data" the Test button on the DSN works—why does it work? The SQL Server is no longer encrypting the connection so an error should occur. If I run the test program, it works
as well—why? I can look at the connection properties in the test program and see that ADODB has added the ";Encrypt-yes" stuff to the end of the connection string. Yet that option seems to have no effect.
If I set the SQL instance back to Force Encryption:yes, enable the cert, restart the SQL service, and clear the DSN's "Use strong encryption for data" option, I can still connect to the db with the
test program—why?
What am I doing wrong? I need to be able to ensure that the communication between our app product and the SQL instance is encrypted, and that we get an error if the SQL instance does not support encrypted communications. We really don't want the customer
to have to enable Force Encryption because they have other db's on their SQL Server that do not use encrypted communication, but they want to know that our product's communication channel with the db is encrypted.
No, I can't change the app product's code at this point in time. I'm stuck with working with what a DSN called from ADODB has to offer.
Also, how can I be sure that communications are encrypted? I mean, I've tried things like "SELECT * FROM sys.dm_exec_connections" but that doesn't help because I have no idea how to tie the list of sessions shown back to my test program, although
I guess it's a good thing that some of the sessions listed show encrypt_option as TRUE.

Ah yes, very good point. It's easy to miss because you have to delete then recreate the DSN in order to change drivers. So I switched the DSN over to the SQL Native 11 driver.
Now when I try to connect to the SQL instance as <computer-name>\<instance-name>, and without a cert on the server, I get "the target principal name is incorrect". Perfect; now we're getting somewhere!
Change my DSN to use <fqdn>\<instance-name> and it works. This tells me that SQL Server has auto-generated a cert and named it <fqdn>. I would have expected the "cert fail" error, not a cert
name mismatch, because I'm not using Trust Server Cert.
So I load up my self-signed cert, and that works too.
I am still confused as to why I'm not seeing the "cert fail" error when I have no cert loaded on the SQL Server. I am not using Force Encryption on the server at all, so wouldn't expect SQL Server to auto-create a cert when an Encrypt=yes request comes in,
but apparently it does?
I also ran into a problem with this:

There is no s.client_interface_name, probably should be s.hostname. There's also no s.session_id. I thought maybe this should be s.sid, but then no rows ever come back. The c.session_id looks like 51 and 52, but the s.sid looks like a very long binary number,
so these two fields cannot be joined. I don't know how to convert the sid's properly so that the join would work. Ah wait, I just found the s.spid column; the join works when that column is used (I assume that's correct anyhow).
If I add a Thread.Sleep(30 seconds) to my C# program just before the connection is closed, this query shows me the session for the correct hostname has encrypt_option=TRUE.
And I have to keep my fingers crossed that all the app I/O will still work properly after
changing the driver. Probably a safe bet though.
Think I'm ready to throw in the towel on getting the "cert fail/no SSL" error to appear.
It does look like I am able to sufficiently show that the connection is encrypted when Encrypt=yes is used with the newer driver.

Yes, but if you want these devices to have complete capability of calling each other they each must have their own separate, individual e mail address. If they don't have individual e mail addresses, the i phones will be able to call each other because you'll be using their individual phone numbers -- the Mac mini will be able to call the i phones, but, the iphones will not be able to call the Mac mini. This is because the iphones will be using the mini's e- mail address to make the call, and if they have the same e mail address, they will think they are calling themselves, so the call will not connect.
So, the way I see it is, if you keep all of the email addresses the same, the only thing you'll loose is the ability of the iphones to call the mini.
EDIT: Thinking about it, my first sentence needs to be modified. Your iphones can share an email address but it must be different from the Mac mini address.
This isn't rocket science, but it can make your head spin. LOL

Did being able to use the same data in multiple apps get added?

In the new iOS 4.2, did Apple include the ability to use the same data, eg PDF files in multiple apps? I have several hundred PDF files that I want to use in three different apps.
Or is it still the same, that you have to load up (and use valuable space) the same data again and again for EACH individual app?

I don't know but think it would mean the PDFs must be stored somewhere on the device itself (like on a computer). Then also the apps must be designed to use the files from there. So a change in the iOS wouldn't be all that's needed.

(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD." Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

Can anyone tell me how to use the 'Decision between multiple alternatives' Process variant in BI 7 Process chains ?
The requuirement is that I have a DSO eg DSO 1 from which i have to load DSO 2 and DSO 3 . Now if the number of Records in DSO 1 are < 100 i will load DSO 2 from DSO 1 else i will load DSO 3 from DSO 1 .
So in the PC i have used a 'ABAP Program' variant (which counts the number of rows in DSO 1) after loading DSO 1 and after this 'ABAP Program' Variant , i have used the 'Decision between multiple alternatives' Process variant. Problem is it is giving me only some some system fields in the formula , like sy-datum or sy-timlo , which are of no use here .
It would be great if i can receive some help here .

in RSPC you create a ABAP processing type "ending with specific values".
We use true or false for things as you specify.
your abap program should return a true or a false to indicate which of the situations is applicable.
