Using signal express with NI9227 timing settings

I have Signal Express LE and using modual NI 9227, I am trying to measure input current draw AAC. What should my timing setting be for "Acquisition Mode," "Samples to Read", and "Rate (Hz)" be if I want to read every .5 seconds and every 1 seconds? Can someone explain to me what the Time Settings mentioned above mean.  I am a Lab Technician learning as I go. My EE's are very busy and want me to do as much as I can on my own, please help.
Thanks
DustDevil

DustDevil,
First, welcome to our forums!
Second, we have a great KnowledgeBase article here that talks about the various timing settings you have available and what they each will mean for the timing of your measurements.  In that article, "number of samples per channel" corresponds to the "samples to read" you have available in SignalExpress.
Also, the 9227 is one of our modules that uses Delta-Sigma modulation to get a higher resolution, which has some caveats as far as sampling rate is concerned.  There is a minimum data rate (about 1600 samples per second) that you cannot sample below.  If you set a rate lower than 1600 you'll still be getting data back at 1600 S/s.  This help file describes the "Subset and Resample" step you can use in SignalExpress so you can acquire data at the minimum rate of the device and then resample the result to end up with data at the "rate" you actually want.
Give those a look and re-post if you have any follow-up questions or need clarification.

  • Generating PWM signal using Signal Express

    Hi,
Would anyone help in generating PWM signal usinf Signal Express 2.5.1.   I am using a cDAQmx and connected NI 9472 to the slot number 6 to output the PWM signal. Also I have connected a NI 9421 to the slot number 5 to acquire the PWM signal, so that I could verify the signal.
So would you please let me know how could I generate a PWM signal using Signal Express without any LabVIEW Programming. Please help me out.

    HI Aamruth,
I atached a project, where you can see how to do it. I hope this helps.

  • Using Signal Express VI for DAQmx, timing & file size issues

I am using a Signal Express VI with my DAQmx. Long story short, my DAQmx VI's don't work in LV 8.6 (possibly IT installation error). I have a few issues (I'm a beginner so be easy).
First, I'm confused on how to get the timing correct. I am trying to read a 100 samples (2 channels) average them and repeat this at 30Hz and record this data.
Second, everytime I open the Signal Express VI (in my block diagram) and change sampling for example, click OK, then save my VI before running my program. I noticed the file on disk increased in size by the megabytes! All I changed were the sampling settings.
I appreciate any input, thanks in advance!

To your first concern, it sounds like DAQmx was installed before LabVIEW.  Just reinstall DAQmx and it will work fine in LabVIEW.
For you second concern.  To get 100 Samples at 30 Hz, you will need to change your channel setup in signal express.  You will need Continuous Aquisition, with 100 Samples to Read at 3000 Hz.  Then you code should work as expected.

  • Can I use Signal Express for multiple customers for only the one time $699?

How do I go about distributing Signal Expresss applications to multiple customers?

    Hi Nutter,
Unlike LabVIEW, Signal Express doesn’t have any file distribution capabilities.  If your application uses only basic features, you could install the free LE version of Signal Express on as many computers as necessary.  If you need the full capabilities of Signal Express, however, you would need to purchase a license for each customer.
An alternative to paying for Signal Express for each customer deployment would be to generate LabVIEW code from the Signal Express project and create an executable.  This process is described in the Knowledge Base articles Generate LabVIEW VIs from Signal Express and Deploying VIs generated in Signal Express.  Note that this method requires that you have LabVIEW installed on your development computer with Application Builder capabilities.

  • Using airport express with a 2wire router

I just got Bellsouth DSL with a 2wire dsl modem that is also a wireless router.
It works fine, but I still want to use my airport express to listen to music.
I can't figure out how to do so, though I have tried various configurations
with the airport setup utility. Anyone have any ideas? How can I use
    express with another wireless router?

Let's double-check your AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) settings ...
Perform a "factory default" reset of the AX
    o (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044)
Either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then using the AirPort Utility in "Manual Setup" mode, make the following changes:
    AirPort > Base Station
o Base Station Name: <rename or leave default>
    o Base Station Password: <enter desired password>
    o Verify Password: <re-enter desired password>
o Remember this password in my keychain: (optional)
    o Set time automatically: (unchecked)
    AirPort > Wireless
o Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
    o Network Name: <existing 2wire's wireless network>
o Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network>
o Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter the existing wireless network password>
    Music
    o Enable AirTunes (checked)
o iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
    o iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
    o Verify Password: (optional)
o Click Update to write the new settings to the AX
    In iTunes:
    iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
o Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)

  • Mac Mini Server Airport Express with Server Firewall Settings

I posted this in the Server forum, but I've had no responses so far - so I'll try it here instead! Any help is appreciated...
I've got a new Mac Mini Server (mid 2010) with Snow Leopard Server v10.6 that I intend to use as a file server in the long term, and as my main computer replacing my old PC in the short term.
One of it's uses will be my iTunes server for my Airtunes network with two airport expresses.
When I disable the server firewall iTunes can connect to the airports with the check box in the 'multiple speakers' menu in iTunes. If I enable the firewall with the default settings of 'allow these ports' I cannot. I have used the Apple document on well known TCP and UDP ports to open for Apple software packages with particular attention to streaming audio / iTunes etc. Still doesn't allow the speakers to be selected in the 'multiple speakers' check box.
I also tried the 'allow all traffic' option for the firewall, again no connection to the remote speakers happened. If I turn off the firewall it all works fine. It seems that there are some ports that need to be open in order to establish the connection - I just don't know what they are.
Does anyone know of the appropriate ports to open? I tried searching the forums and I did try some of the suggestions for port 5000, 6000, 6001 etc but it doesn't make any difference!
    Thanks in advance...

I found this works too. Though I came about this a slightly different way.
I moved over to Airfoil as Airtunes didn't work without the firewall and Airfoil did. I then had problems with Airfoil not reconnecting to the remote speakers when you cycled the power on them, I don't want all of my remote speakers powered all of the time. They were set to automatically connect, yet they refused connection a couple of times before connecting, which meant logging into the mini and reconnecting manually, which wasn't what I wanted to do. During an email conversation with Rogue Amoeba I sent them a debug logfile - they pin-pointed it as a connection denial with IPv6 addressing.
Once I had that info, I disabled IPv6 for my network adaptors and Airfoil worked and reconnected fine even when airport expresses are power cycled. I then tried Airtunes again and now the speakers can be connected. It's down to the first choice for connections is IPv6, if this is not available it's IPv4.
It's definitely a bug with the IP6FW control and link-local traffic.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I use logic express with my Macbook

I just got a macbook and i was wondering if I can use Logic express or pro on it??

    yes!
it of coourse depends what you want to do with it - but yes!
by all acounts logic express and pro will run very well on the new macbooks.
I'm using pro on my old powerbook - just about manage to use it live and it's slow but useable to get ideas down onto and am using an intel imac as my main studio computer with logic pro 7.2.3 - it's essentially the same as a macbook except it doesn't have integrated graphics and it has a faster hard disk which does make a difference. Apart from that i'm sure your new macbook would toast my powerbook in terms of performance.
Be sure to get the intel version of logic (7.2 and above) as an older "ppc" version may run but is not supported and would probably run very slowly.
    Enjoy!

  • Can I use Airport Express with iPhone in my hotel room?

Is there a way to set up an Airport Express in my hotel room when I travel, so that the provided High Speed internet cable in the room can be plugged into my Airport Express, giving me a wireless internet connection for the iPhone? I use Airport Express often this way with my MacBook, so I don't have to be tethered to the cable.

I did this about a month ago when I was in England. I just had the Airport Express with me, and had not done any configurations. I plugged it in and had the iPhone find it. It worked in some hotels, and didn't at others. When it worked it was great. I assume with some of the hotels where it didn't work, that I needed to configure it but since I didn't have my laptop I didn't have any way to configure it. Is there any kind of "universal" or "automatic" configuration you can set it up with?

  • Why can't I use Signal Express as a Front End to my LV application?

Why not make an API for Signal Express so I can use its
functionality as a front-end to my LV
    applications.
It is very powerful and user friendly so why have LV developers recreate
the wheel? Give an interface to access a SE project via LV
to get data and pass results into LV
so we can then use its power to make quicker more user friendly applications.
SE could run in the background as the analyzer and the LV application call SE to get the portions of
    the data it needs.
Even an automatic VI compiler on SAVE would be a start so a user
could edit a project in SE close it and it would compile the VI which the LV program calls.
LabVIEW developers typically do not have 6-18months to
design and perfect a powerful user friendly interface and are stuck using MAX
and its inadequacies which is much less impressive.

    Arron,
I agree that it would be a good idea to include this functionality and have filed a product suggestion.  To file a suggestion, you can go to www.ni.com/contact and click on the link in the lower left hand corner for product feedback.  Thanks for letting us know!

  • Can I use Airport Express with a USB Hard disk as a NAS solution?

What have people tried for NAS solutions that work really well wirelessly? Can I use my Airport Express with its USB port to attach a hard disk? Or do I need an Airport Extreme base station? Or some other solution?

The price of the Time Capsule includes the NAS backup system plus a hardware router for your network.
Macs do not support USB 3.0 and most likely won't because Apple's weight is behind Thunderbolt which is considerably faster and more versatile than USB.

  • How to use Aiprort Express with iMac DV

    Hello,
I'd like to use an Airport Express with an old iMac DV SE 400mhz. It's running Tiger. All I need it to do is run Airtunes. And I need a solution that doesn't require me to scan eBay for an old airport card, because I need to try to make this happen in the next couple days. Any ideas?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Do you currently have an Ethernet network? If so, could the AirPort Express (AX) be connected to this Ethernet network? If so, there is no need to make your iMac DV wireless at all. It can stream music over Ethernet to the AX.
    router <-+-> iMac
    .........|-> AX
If you do need to make your iMac DV wireless but don't want to get an AirPort card, you will want an Ethernet wireless adapter. Examples of Ethernet wireless adapters are the Linksys WET11, Linksys WET54G, and the Buffalo Technology WLI-TX4-G54HP bridge.

  • Using Airport Express with Internet Sharing in Leopard

    Howdy all,
I have Internet Sharing enabled on my MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.5.4. I use a Sprint Sierra Wireless Aircard 597E modem to connect to the Internet.
I'm trying to get my Airport Express & Time Machine to recognize my MacBook Pro, or the other way around. Basically, I want to be able to access the Airport Express to wirelessly play music through a pair of speakers and be able to access the Time Machine for backups & accessing files.
With Internet Sharing enabled, my iPhone can access the web, so I believe I have the sharing set up correctly. However, I can't see the Time Machine and my Airport Express just keeps blinking amber.
Does anyone know what I might need to do to resolve this issue?
Any help is so very very much appreciated!

    Thanks Kappy,
I'm not sure you're exactly following me on this one, though. Here's what I've discovered on my own for anyone else facing the same situation I am:
    1. You /cannot/ use Airport Express while using Leopard's Internet Sharing.
    2. If you want to create a local network, in this situation, you'll need to use Time Capsule to establish the initial local network, then join the Airport Express into that network. At that point you can use Time Machine with Time Capsule, access it as a hard drive and use AirTunes with the Airport Express.
But you cannot use the Sprint AirCard (and I assume any other similar setup) and your Mac with Internet Sharing to build the local network and then join the other devices to it. Unfortunately.

  • Operating Signal Express with Labview 7.1

    Hey,
I have just recently installed Signal Express as a portion of the Sound & Vibration Measurement Suite and teh Sound & Measurement Assistant front end works well. When I attempt to start a new VI in Labview 7.1, I am unable to insert tools from the order analysis menu.
Do I need to upgrade Labview or is there another solution
    Thanks
    Doug

    Hello Doug.
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
The readme of Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0 states that you must have LabVIEW 8.2 or later Full Development System or Professional Development System installed and properly licensed in order to run this application successfully. So, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it appears that you will not be able to use this Measurement Suite inside of LabVIEW 7.1. As further confirmation of this, do you see any S&V or Order Analysis VI's on your functions palette in LabVIEW? If you don't, this will indicate that the functionality for LabVIEW was not installed because of an incompatibility between the toolkit and the version of LabVIEW.
Let me know if I have explained this well. If there is anything else I can do for you to help you through this, please let me know. I will be more than happy to help!

  • Using Airport Express with a new (so far unopened) MacBook

I'd like to use my MacBook without extraneous cables around the house and when I go away. I understand I need Airport Express (or is that Extreme to do this), but I would also like to change my ISP before I configure the new Macbook. Any thoughts, suggestions, advice to a total novice in these matters?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Your MacBook will work with either an Airport Express or Airport Extreme base station, and if you only have a MacBook than the Express would be a better choice of the two.
Are you going to use cable or ADSL?
    Check out the following website.
    Reviews of equipment
    http://www.adslguide.org.uk/reviews/
    Comparisons of ISPs
    http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/compare.asp
I would suggest going for a wires only deal and purchasing your own equipment.
Do not get a USB modem unless you are going to only use it to keep a door open or similar...
As most ADSL Modem Routers are setup through a web browser you should be fine with a Mac.
Personally I use plusnet and Netgear ADSL Modems. One is a DG834G combined device and the other is a DM602 Modem Router connected to an AEBS.
If you really want an Airport Express, I would also check out ADSL Nation's X-Modem M3 http://www.adslnation.com/products/xmodem-m3.php It is also now available from the UK Apple store and retail stores.
    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore?productLearnMore=TJ151
which can also be used in conjunction with an AEBS or AX.
