Using StreamConnection with MMAPI emulator
Hi,
I am using StreamConnection class to establish a socket connection with my server. If I run the application on PalmOS PDA it works fine. But when I run it in the mobile media emulator it does not connect to the server.
Does anyone know why?
These are the things I tried:
1. I tried using HttpConnection instead of StreamConnection and the application is able to connect to the server on the mmapi emulator but unable to retrieve data (as I wrote teh program keeping StreamConnection in mind....this probably can be fixed, but I wanted to make it work with the StreamConnection class using sockets so that I dont have to change my programs.)
2. I checked to see if the StreamConnection class files are present in the api zip file and I found all io classes in this zip file emptymmapi.zip
I really dont know why it wouldn't connect using StreamConnection....
Any answers would be really appreciated....
The StreamConnection undoubtedly exists but sockets might not be supported.
MIDP doesn't require sockets to be implemented so maybe opening a socket connection (socket://url:port) is impossible. Aren't you getting some "Connection scheme not supported" type exception when trying to create the StreamConnection?

did anyone know this ? I got an error ( prefetch error: -5 or prefetch error: -2 ) when trying to run the code to play video format 3gpp with MMAPI. i send 7KB 3gpp file video format by chunks of 1KB and send each chunk to the midlet 7 times.
the midlet will collect that chunck 7 times again,so it will become 7KB (byte array). then, it will create a new player, realize and prefetch it, but it become exception of prefetch error: -5 means that the operation is not supported.
but it work when i try to play file video 3gpp that store in local :

I lost the last few days of my life struggling with a weird issue in the emulator. I just ran out of options and I would really appreciate if someone could help me figure out what's wrong.
I am trying to debug a service package from Visual Studio 2012. It's really just about any package -- even the ones generated from a Windows Azure Cloud Service VS template. Any. The VS debugger starts, and in parallel there's "Starting the Windows Azure Debugging
Environment" dialog which shows "Deploying service package to the Windows Azure compute emulator..." message.
The progress bar shown in the dialog gets stuck for a long time (possibly even for an hour or longer!) at some 60% and then the following error message is shown:
"One or more ports used by the Compute Emulator are currently used by other processes. To resolve this, please see MSDN documentation at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh472164.aspx"
There doesn't seem to be anything else listening on the ports mentioned on the above MSDN page. I did nevertheless try to re-map devfabric and agent ports by specifying different values in the .config files mentioned on the page, but that did not help.
What I also tried and did not help:
- reinstalled SDK, IIS Express, Local DB
- reinstalled VS 2012 (yes, I got that desperate)
- tried using IIS instead
- used SysInternals TcpView to check if there are any conflicts
- rebooted the machine: the deployment works initially (*once*), and the subsequent deployments fail (!)
- tried to kill all Azure-related processes in memory and restart debugging
- tried looking into log files under the user directory (dftmp\...); no errors in *any* log
- tried looking into Event Viewer logs (Azure-related and in general); no errors either
Since the conflict seems to be related to my current network settings, below is my IP
configuration. I am behind a router and I have DHCP activated, but again that should not matter since none of that has changed in the last few years (and the emulator did work until few days ago).

Unfortunately I already tried all kinds of re-installs (the full list is in my original message). The only one remaining is the reinstall of Windows 8 itself, which I would really like to avoid.
What I find really strange is the time it takes for the above error message to appear. It's like one hour or even more (never measured exactly, I left the computer running).
What kind of a timeout is that? I would expect that, if ports are really used by some other application, I get the message in less than a minute (seconds, actually). To me this looks like the emulator itself for some reason believes there's a problem with
some port while in reality there isn't.
I'll eventually contact Microsoft Support, thanks for the suggestion.

Can you use ResourceBundle with resrouce that are grouped within folders?
Hi I'm trying to internationalize my program by using the java ResrouceBundle.
Is there a way to use it with resources that have been grouped into folders?
For example, instead of using locale to specify the resource name as MessageBundle_en_US.properties, I would like to specify the locale name as the resource folder name like this:
resources_en_US/MessageBundle.properties
or resources_fr_FR/MessageBundle.properties etc.
Is there something already available for this in the API that i'm not aware of or, if possible, is there a way to overwrite the ResrouceBundle package to handle this?Hi Simon,
Yes, I understand people would expect it to work on the emulator too, but the point of Scout is really to provide you information about the real performance (on the device and in production) to be really accurate and reflect the reality.
Having it work with the emulator would always be an approximation, which could still maybe be valuable, but we thought we would focus on production code.
But thanks for bringing this up, it is valuable feedback about your experience.

Hello I am getting an error with the emulation. I feel it its pretty pointless having it if i can not use it live. Any one out there come acroos this issue and if so how do I fix it?
Cheers..... The emulation of samsungtest has completed successfully. Your app binary is located at c:/etc etc etcyet the emulator is not running on my desktop? Strange. I do get a pre load error and it tells me go to the bulldog. My desktop emulator on the taskbar is a blank file icon and before it loads i get a pre load error?

Thanks in advance.it would not be install of Adobe that would cause this, however a changed printer driver may. Has the printer driver changed? Do you see any difference on the rpeort if you set the option "No Printer? (File menu, select Page setup).
When you say the report is now 21 pages, do you mean it has more data? Or has the format changed such that it is 21 pages long. The latter would again point to printer driver... -

As Winston Churchill wrote, however you might want to do a factory reset on the Apple TV.
This way all information pertaining to your daughter will be removed from the device. Specifically if see was sign into any of the streaming service, Netflix, Hulu, etc. her credentials will still be associated with this Apple TV, doing a factory reset will remove all that and make it as if you purchased the device and just plugged it in.

OPEN CURSOR using a WITH clause in the select query

I am using Oracle 9i. I have a requirement where I have a REFCURSOR as an OUT parameter for my procedure. I have declared the TYPE and created the procedure.
In the procedure, I am using OPEN <cursor_name> FOR <query>;
Ideally this works in most of the cases that I have tried earlier. However, in the current case I am using a WITH clause in my query to get the results.
I need help in understanding if the above mentioned syntax would not allow me to use the WITH clause in the query.What error do you get , seems to work ok for me on 10g

My iPhone 4 will not sync my new voice memos from the "Voice Memos" app to my computer. This is frustrating, should not be so hard, can someone please help. I use PC with windows 7 with iPhone version 6.1.3 and iTunes most recent. Thanks.
In the Music tab of iTunes, do you have 'Include Voice Memos' checked?

I ordered my Macbook Air with Aperture two years ago. I now have an iMac - can I use that with Aperture in any way? I appreciate that it is a different computer but I am now the end user of both devices and I was just wondering if it was possible.

However I believe you can have Aperture installed on two machines however only one may be using it at a time.
On the new iMac launch the Mac App Store - Purchased - look for Aperture and download to your new machine. -
How do I use LDAP with iMQ 2.0?
I am looking for an example to see how to use LDAP with iMQ 2.0.
I was able to set up the config settings to access a local LDAP,
but iMQ authentication still rejects valid logins.

How do I use user_datastore with a feeder proc to add an mdata section?
Hi,
I have text data spread across a number of different tables. I have created a user_datastore with a feeder procedure that creates an xml document which is then indexed into a dummy column on the parent table. This works fine. However I need to add an mdata section to the index, via my xml document. I haven't seen any examples of this being done in conjunction with the ctxsys.auto_section_group option of the create index statement, and am wondering if it is possible?
Could somebody furnish me an example of how I achieve this.

RalphYou can't use MDATA with AUTO_SECTION_GROUP. AUTO means it automatically assigns zone sections for every tag it finds - if you want anything other than zone sections you must use BASIC_SECTION_GROUP, XML_SECTION_GROUP or HTML_SECTION_GROUP and manually define your sections.

With .NET of course you can just decide to have Excel support added during
project creation. CVI can act as an ActiveX server and easily control
Excel just by building off the examples shipped with CVI. I see that
there is support, using the Measurement Studio for Visual C++ 6.0 Project Wizard,
for taking existing CVI projects and converting them to Visual C++ 6.0 projects
or for calling CVI libraries from a .dll from within Visual C++ 6.0. I suppose I could do the work
in CVI and then convert the project but I'm so deeply tied into all my MFC calls that I don't see
how I can cleanly include the CVI libraries into my existing VC++ 6.0 projects.
What I'm really after here is a visual graph control like the one in CVI that I
can use from Visual C++ 6.0. I purchased a 3rd party graph control for use
in VC++ 6.0 that works well but isn't really visual. I mean you can't
enter any values in it until you run the program and fill it out programmatically.
Then you can see which columns are two narrow, quit the program, adjust the
column width of your now empty control, and repeat, until you get the thing
looking the way you want. If I could call into Excel from within Visual
C++ 6.0 the way I do from within .NET
then I could use Excel to hold the table and just read in the values into my table
control at run time. Basically I'd use Excel as a visual development tool
for all my tables.
I do all my coding from within CVI and Measurement Studio for Visual C++
6.0. I'd use CVI for everything if I didn't depend so heavily on certain
outside controlled C++ .dll's. Could you please suggest then what I can
do to get Excel support for Visual C++ 6.0?
Last question :
Is there any plan to ever have a NI table control like the CVI table control for
use in Visual Studio? One that you can
completely set up before you do any compiling?
I imagine that the way Microsoft sets up their environment makes this idea impossible. Otherwise someone would
have come up with a truly “visual” table control before now.

You can most certainly use Excel with VC++ 6.0. Measurement Studio won't provided you with any classes to talk to Excel in VC++ 6.0. This is because Excel allows control via Automation and you can use its automation API to do anything you need with Excel. This is what CVI uses as well.
You can see this MSDN article on how to set this up. This mentions VC.NET, but it should work the same way.

Even with .NET, you have to do thru the Excel Automation support. Excel started shipping with Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA) which are .NET wrappers about the Excel Automation object model. C++ Automation is definetely not as nice as .NET, BTW

I would not recommend using the CVI Excel libraries if all you want to use them for is Excel automation. You will end up creating un-necessary dependencies and go through extra layers that way. You can make calls straight to Excel from VC++ without requiring CVI.
One quick observation about your excel approach. If you decide to use Excel as your table, you might be requiring everyone who uses your application to have Excel installed on their machines. Just wanted to make sure this was acceptable to you.
Have you looked at the Datagrid Activex control, which is one of the common controls that ships with Visual Studio? You can add it to Visual Studio by right-clicking and picking it from the list of installed activex control. If you have not already, you should check it out.
Microsoft has made significant improvements in the number of controls they provide with .NET. They have a Datagrid control that seems to be what you need.
Measurement Studio did add some high level classes for Excel and Word Automation that simplify some common tasks, but these exists for VS 2003 C++ and VS 2005 C++, not for VC 6.0. Underneath, we end up using the same Excel automation classes, so you can easily setup something similar for VC 6.0. Plus you can find alot of references online on how to use the Excel Automation object model with C++.
We currently have no plans in Measurement Studio to create a table control unfortunately. I am assuming when you said graph, you actually meant table, since Measurement Studio already provides a ActiveX graph controls for VC++ 6.0 that is very similar to the CVI graph.
On a side note, VC++ 6.0 is really really old. Have you considered upgrading?
