Using this.getField to hide multiple buttons...

Hello all,
I'm a relative newb to scipting, but I'm sure there's not better way to learn than jumping in at the deep end! Anyway, I'm putting some script into a pdf I want to hide multiple buttins using this.getField... Is it possible to have script like
this.getField("buttons1").display=display.hidden
this.getField("buttons2").display=display.hidden
this.getField("buttons3").display=display.hidden
this.getField("buttons4").display=display.hidden
etc..?
My only problem is that I have this scipt (only a bit longer) under a button and it only seems to execute the first line, then the rest of the script (which includes some OCG visibility) doesn't

As George said, you need to check the javascript debugger to see if there are any messages. If your buttons are not named exactly as you have it in the script (e.g. "buttons 1", "Buttons1", "button1") then it will give you an error, and won't process any of the following code. The debugger will tell you what the error is and on which line it occurred.

I am pulling a phone number from a form field using this.getField("EmailAddress").value and inserting it into an email. Once there, it loses it's formatting as a phone number and becomes a string if 10 digits again. Is there a way to retain or recreate this formatting?

Since a Format script doesn't change the underlying field value, just what gets displayed in the field, you'll have to add something that changes the underlying field value. You can use the Validate event for this and even use the same built-in code that's use by Acrobat to do the formatting. Begin by adding the following function to a document-level JavaScript:

and call this function with the following custom Validate script:

How to use the same script for multiple buttons

I'm creating a blockbusters type game, I have a grid of 20 buttons and I need them (individually) to turn blue on click and red on double click. I've managed to do it with the first one using this code;

Now I'm having trouble getting the same to work for the rest of the buttons, they are each named bn2, bn3 etc. They need to work individually and remain blue/red once clicked. I've tried listing them as addEventListener commands but not having a great deal of success!

One way to do this is to use arrays to keep track of the buttons and their properties.

Now you can have any number of buttons, just add their instance names to the array at the top.

"The Loged On user does not have permission to use this object" error

Hi
I've created a form that is used by a customer which allows for certain draft documents to be approved and then once approved they are created. The problem that I am having is that when the users attempt to update the changes on the form an error is logged, which is shown below:
"Error: -3000
The Loged On user does not have permission to use this object
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0xFFFFF448): The Loged On user does not have permission to use this object"
Once the update button is pressed then a User Defined Table and Drafts are both updated with the relevant modified UDFs from the form.
If I log onto their system then I don't seem to get any issues. To me it looks like a user authorisation problem but the ones who have used the form seem to have the relevant licences.
Do you have any idea why this error could be occuring?

Hi,
Go to Administration --> System Initlization > Authorizations> General Authorizations not expand all and check if the service call is given full *Read & Write * rights to the required user.
If not then give full rights and check the add on.

How to use one pop up window for multiple buttons and input fields?

Hi Experts,
I have created a pop up window that will be opened from multiple buttons in the same view. There are input fields that the data will be populated from a pop up window. How can I set up which button that a pop up window is opened from? I also would like to populate the data from a pop up window to the input field next to a clicked button. There are 6 buttons and 6 input fields that share the same pop up window. I would very appreciate your responses.

Hi,
Try creating 2 context attributes, one in your component controller and the other in the pop-up view. Bind the attribute of pop-up view to the component controller attribute.
In the main view, on click of every button set a unique code in the controller's context which helps you in identifying the button clicked. Since u have created a binding to the pop-up view attribute the value flows from the controller.
In the init method of your pop-up view, check the value of the attribute and based on that display which ever UI elements are required.
Eg:
On Button 1 click set value "B1", Button 2 value "B2" etc. In the init() of pop-up view u can check the values and perform the required operation:

That is not a practically empty xinitrc - that file only needs one line: exec WM. Other things are entirely optional, and some of them very useful, but I'd encourage you to stick with the simplest xinitrc that will do what you require.
Is slim involved? Probably. That is the source of many problems. But to start narrowing this down, I have 3 suggestions:
1) temporarily (at least) change your inittab to default to runlevel 3 ... actually, is it currently set to 5 or 3? if it is currently 3 that would explain why slim doesn't start.
2) at a tty in runlevel 3 use "xinit" instead of "startx". Startx is fine most of the time, but it is essentially just a complex wrapper for xinit. That complexity can often iadd useful functionality, but it *always* makes troubleshooting more difficult. So for now just use a vanilla 'xinit'.
3) remove dbus-launch from your exec line in xinitrc. This is done by console-kit so it is redundant and potentially problematic. Further BOTH of these are taken care of by slim, so I'd even suggest getting both a jump start on being ready for slim and simplifying troubleshooting by removing both of them. Just make that line "exec openbox-session"
Edit: adding one more:
4) temporarily switch out openbox-session for openbox. I suspect the reason feh's setting of the background is getting overridden is due to a script or setting in openbox's autostart settings - many of these are only invoked when "openbox-session" is called, while "openbox" starts *just* the window manager itself.

I assume you're talking about the Lion installer? If so, yes, you're allowed to use it on any machines authorized with your Apple ID (which I believe means a maximum of five machines). This is, of course, meant for family use... I'm not sure about business use, but I'd suspect you need one copy per machine at a business. If you're in that situation, you may want to wait for the $69 Lion flash drive Apple will be releasing next month sometime, as that won't be tied to an Apple ID. But check with Apple to be sure on that.

Can I use stylesheets to create multiple button styles?

I am trying to create a custom look-and-feel within UIX to get it as close as possible to
our existing application's look-and-feel.
As part of this, I customized the UIX button by overriding the following named style:
ButtonServerText
and also by providing my own icons for:
buttonStart
buttonEnd
buttonTopBackground
buttonBottomBackground
The good news is that I was able to get the button component to look exactly like our existing
application buttons.
The bad news is that we have different types of buttons in our application
for different purposes. (i.e. the image used for the button can be completely different based on the context e.g.
yellow button for important actions and light-blue buttons for secondary actions)
It seems like there is no way in which I can use this stylesheet mechanism to create different types of buttons
and use them within my application. (sometimes different types of buttons can appear on the same page)
Please let me know if there is a way.
This is in fact a general question regarding overriding a stylesheet for customizing look-and-feel.
Lets say I customize the "contentContainer" component using the stylesheet. This change would then be global.
But I do want to have different types of contentContainers in the application. I would be forced to create my own custom
UIX elements similar to contentContainer and write my own renderers.
(I know contentContainer does have the light, medium and dark styles. I used this just as an example.)
Please let me know what my options are.

The bad news is that we have different types of
buttons in our applicationRight. This is a fundamental limitation of our look and feel customization functionality - we only support global customizations, not instance-specific customizations. I agree that there are many cases where instance-level customization would be useful, but this just instance supported yet.
The only solution that I can think of for your button dilemma would be to use static images. It's pretty easy to wire up an image to behave like a button - just embed the image in a link and use <fireAction> as the link's primaryClientAction.
Obviously, the downside of this approach is that you need to create the button images manually - which also isn't ideal if you are planning to translate your applications. One possible solution here might be to use UIX to pre-generate your button images. The idea would be to create custom LAFs for each style of button, then create a UIX page for each button style, including <button> instances for each translated value. Then, you could configure UIX to run in the desired look and feel, hit the corresponding page, and UIX will generate the required buttons into your image cache. Again, not ideal, but this might be easier than creating the buttons by hand.

own renderers.Right - this is a generic problem. But for some components, like content containers, an easier solution might be to leverage UIX's templating mechanism. Remember, you can embed arbitrary HTML contents in a UIX page/template by setting the namespace to "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40". You can then reference these templates from your other UIX contents as if they were in fact UIX components. I'd recommend that you explore UIX's template support to see if this will meet your needs.

Why can't I accept the beginning agreement button? unable to use this program without it.

I'm unclear on what you are wanting. Do you mean that you have perhaps a link to Google, and somehow you need to cause a Hide / Show button to appear on the Google page?
I'm not sure that's even possible.

How to hide multiple XsltListViewWebPart when they are empty using OOTB or script?

I have a SharePoint 2013 page that displays a few XsltListViewWebParts i.e.(Lists).
All the lists contains rows of data when we open:
http://Server/Pages/MyPage.aspx
But, We have some customized filters and views in place, and when we open e.g.: http://Server/Pages/MyPage.aspx?FilterField1=LinkTitle&FilterValue1=250
The page opens correctly, But all the XsltListViewWebParts which do not meet the filtering will still be shown but as empty web parts - How to hide those?
In other words, In my SharePoint 2013, How to fully hide multiple XsltListViewWebParts on a page when they are empty ?

The problem was due to JQuery is not loaded in the page.

Instead of referring the JQuery link provided in that page, use the Google CDN (<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.2/jquery.min.js"></script> )Link in script editor before calling
