External topics using Hide/Show button

I need to be able to add a Hide/Show button for external topics - i.e. topics that are not part of the RH project, but rather linked to from the TOC using http://

Hi there
I'm unclear on what you are wanting. Do you mean that you have perhaps a link to Google, and somehow you need to cause a Hide / Show button to appear on the Google page?
I'm not sure that's even possible.

What is the best method to create a button that will hide / show a particular caption? I looked into using an advanced action, but have not been successful in indicating the correct variable / control statement to make it work.

Thank you for responding and yes, I believe this is exactly what I'm trying to accomplish!
Since it is the first time I’ve ever had to use the Advanced Actions in Captivate before, I’m having an issue re-creating the screen shots you sent me verbatim. Here is how far I was able to get before I noticed that the v_visib “if” statement is not “selectable” in the “else” piece of the statement.
Do I need to “save” the “if expression” before I’m able to select it as a variable in the “else section”?

Hide show button and textual area via Javascript or jQuery

Hi folks am Apex newbie using 4.0.1 on Vista laptop running OracleXE (for dev purposes)
A quick desc of what items are on the page of my Helpdesk appkication and what I want to achieve ..
I have a Progress region defined on the page - with textual areas and some region buttons.
Details are have 2 textual areas in my region - 1st textual area shows current progress (this is read only).
Second textual region is where IT person will type latest progress on Helpdesk prob (ticket).
There is a region button Save Progress Text which when pressed will append text from textual area 2 into textual area 1 and
also appends text e.g date / time / userid etc of progress text added.
This all works fine.
Have added a new region button - call it Enter Progress Text - which I would like when pressed will make textual area 2 and the Save Progress Text buttons visible.
I can hide and show the textual area 2 via $X_show / hide but cannot for life of me hide the Save Progress Text button.
I also tried to make a subregion holding textual area 2 and the Svae Progress Text button but again via Javascript / jQuery could not hide the subregion.
Can someone please tell me the syntax of how to hide via Javascript / jquery as can't find anything much at all in the Apex online documentation.

P.S Don't want to use dynamic actions or hide / show region as want there to be buttons on screen to make things explicit for user hence my desire to use Javascript.

How to keep display as Show when using Hide Show region with pagination?

We are trying to use a 'Hide Show' region with pagination. The problem is that if you 'Show' (ie expand) the region and then hit the link for the next page, the next page displays Hidden (ie collapsed). We want to keep the page display as 'show' when you move to the next set of records.
There is a fix in this forum for this issue in version 2.2 (Application Express) but we are on 2.0.0.00.49 (HTML DB). Does anyone know of a similar fix for HTML DB 2?

Running the application install script via SQL Plus using FLOWS_020000 produces result:
NOT COMPATIBLE (Your export may contain calls not supported by your HTMLDB version.)
The wwv_flow_api package routines that are not available in our version appear to be:
create_or_remove_file
create_install
create_install_script
Is there any way to handle these calls in other ways?

Drill down hide/show report on same page

Hi,
Is it possible to create a drill down report where instead of linking to new pages, the details can be displayed using hide/show buttons on the relevant columns? For example, if you have the following fields:
Region
Country
Division
Account
Order
Product ID
Product Price
Would it be possible to ,by default, have the report only show distinct regions. By clicking an expand button on a particular region, it's countries are displayed. By clicking an expand button on a country, its divisions are displayed,etc., eventually being able to drill down to order details.
This seems similar to a tree to me, although I have not used trees before. However, from the way I understand the structure of hierarchy in trees, the way this data is structured it would not be possible through a tree.
Any ideas? If not I can just settle on a standard drill down report with links to new pages, but if the above is possible it would work much better for my users.

Can't find External Topics

I am trying to create a jump to an external topic, and can't
find any of the topics after selecting the hlp file.
Using RoboHelp for Word version 6 build 099. The Primary
Source Layout is Winhelp 2000.
I have added the hlp files to the primary layout, and to the
External Dependencies. Yet, when I select the help file from the
hotspot screen, the external topics do no show up.
My output help files are not stored in the same folder as the
working files are.
Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks for the replies everyone. As I have Frame11 I tried opening the Insets pod as Winifred suggested and it was very easy to find and delete the bad link.

Hide/SHow region

Hi All,
My requirement is to show the details in the region whenver the page opens as the user doesn't want to click on + sign everytime.

How is a JQuery Vertical Accordian Different Than A Hide-Show Region

Hello Everyone.
I an using Apex 4.0.1. I recently learned how to create a JQuery vertical accordian. I'm using the sample accordian that Patrick Wolf recently created/posted. It uses a really nice "accordian template" that he put together. It's really quite useful when it comes to saving space and all on a page.
Then I began wondering: How is this accordian different than Apex's own builtin Hide-Show Region template?
And so, I created a sample page on my workspace in apex.oracle.com. I placed a JQuery vertical accordian that consists of 3 regions: 2 reports and a chart. I added a little bit of JQuery to Patrick's template that causes all 3 accordian slices to be closed as opposed to the default behavior of having one slice always open. I also added code that allows a user to re-size the entire accordian either vertically and/or horizontally.
I then created 3 additional regions that mimic the first 3 regions above. These I placed in "column 2" on the page. For each region I assigned the "Hide-Show" template.
As far as I can tell, both the accordian and the Hide-Show regions provide the same functionality.

The app has open authentication assigned, and so, no login credentials are needed. Please click the "Accordian" tab.
I realize that the accordian has more flexibilty in that one may add features like choosing to collapse/not collapse all slices and re-sizing, etc. I suppose one could do similarly for the Hide-Show regions using Javascript or JQuery but it would likely be an effort.
Admittedly, such added features are cool and all. Still, it's been my experience that in the majority of business-like production environments, such "cool" features are pretty much useless. For example, I do not see how re-sizing the accordian or Hide-Show regions has much purpose. In fact, such "cool" features often get in the way of the main goal of the application.
Of course, a JQuery accordian may also be created that expands/contracts slices "horizontally". I do not know of any way to do the same thing using Hide-Show regions. If someone does know how to do this, I (and likely others) would sure appreciate you sharing how.
So, then, with respect to basic functionality (saving page real estate by encapsulating several regions), how is a JQuery vertical accordian any different than Apex's own builtin "Hide-Show" region?

Yes. Now I do understand what it is you are doing in your accordian page. And also I want to thsnk you for providing the sample code on your page showing how to go about preserving the current state of the accordian when you navigate from/to the page.
You commented that this kind of state preservation is not available with the Hide/Show region. I'm thinking that you are correct, though I think I once saw something about doing this posted in this Forum. I'll search through and see if I can locate it.
In any case, have you (or anyone else reading this thread) any other differences between a JQuery vertical accordian and Apex's own Hide/Show region? Other than being able to apply Javascript to an accordian to do things like preserve it's state (like you did), what else may one do with an accordian that is not doable (or at least not easily doable) with a Hide/Show region?

Where is the Show button in the itunes window?

I'm trying to add songs from my library on my laptop to my parents computer. I've already turned on home sharing. But in the helpful tips it says to use the show button at the bottom of the itunes window and I cannot find it.

How to hide my button?

I'm trying to hide my button once my MovieClip is invoked so that it will not appear behind the MovieClip?

SHOW ALL / HIDE ALL BUTTONS produce error in chm but not in "View Selected Item"

My SHOW ALL and HIDE ALL buttons work in the View Selected
Item mode. However, the compiled version generates an error tag:

However, I am none the wiser for my effort and don't know
what (5) might be telling me.
6) The only thing I can think of is that the compiled chm
file is two levels away from the Project Name directory that holds
all the files. The files live in Robohelp 6.0 > Project Name
while the compiled help is found in Robohelp 6.0 > Project Name
> SSL! > MicroSoft_HTML_Help > Project Name.chm.
Should I be adjusting the Relative Path within the topics?

Hide/Show Create button on a report/form page

Hi, I included one form and the related report on one page.
When I create a new record, it will show in the report below.
I make the ID column as the link, which assign the ID to the ID item in the form. DML will do the rest work for display.
However I got a issue. when I click the edit button for one row, the create button doesn't disappear. Although it has a condition of "VALUE OF ITEM IS NULL". I un-hidden the ID item and it do have value when I edit some row.
Is this because of some refreshing reason or...?
Your help will be great appreciated.

BTW, this hide/show pattern of 'KEY VALUE is null' works well when I use two pages(one form and one report.)

Why does the revealed image flicker when using the Show/Hide feature?

I started using the Show/Hide Button and Forms function in InDesign CS6 and have had some peculiar things happen. I was mocking up some samples and on the swf version if you hover over the left side of the blue rectangle all is fine but if you move to the right side of the blue rectangle the image starts to flicker. When you hover over the red rectangle the pop-up image just flickers constantly. I guess there must be some issue with having the button for a revealed image under some portion of the revealed image. The problem went away when the button and the revealed image did not overlap.
This problem didn't occur with another file I had originally created in CS5.

Hide/Show a button on a tile, based on the tileset you're in.

I made a new tileset Z_CustomerPlan, it has an existing tile in it, capshort1.
I added a button to this existing tile capshort1, named Z_BTNPreviewAll.
But this button should ONLY be visible when in the new tileset Z_CustomerPlan because capshort1 is used in some other tilesets.
i tried to do this with the following code in the onload event of capshort1:
if not mcore.uftileset = "SZ_CustomerPlan" then
     ctrlZ_BTNPreviewAll.visible = false
end if
but this isnt working, it makes the button invisible on all tilesets, including Z_CustomerPlan.
So im trying to show/hide the button based on the tileset... is this the right way?
Some help would be nice.

After an intensive investigation i came to the following conclusion...

     ctrlZ_BTNPreviewAll.visible = false

does not work, BUT..
if not mcore.uftileset = "sZ_CustomerPlan" then
     ctrlZ_BTNPreviewAll.visible = false
end if
..does work
can you spot the difference?:)

Where is hide/show toolbar button?

Hello all,
I have purchased Aperture as a retail package, and I am running Snow Leopard. I have a "hide/show Toolbar" button in the upper left of the title bar, as indicated in the included screenshot.
I used Aperture on a friend's machine, and he does not have the oblong "hide/show toolbar" button. His OS is Lion with Aperture installed from the Mac Store.
Does anyone have any ideas about why he would not have this convenient button, while I do?

Hello Nathan,
if you want a button in the toolbar to toggle it on and of, you could do the following:
Create an AppleScript to toggle the Toolbar on and off
Save the script as an application
Assign a nice icon to it, just like the drop of toothpaste, the button used to look like
Drag the Apple Script to your Finder toolbar
This AppleScript seems to toggle the toolbar - I have not done much testing so far:
(* Toggle the Finder Window Toolbar , Autor LDF *)

          set wi to front window
          set vis to (get toolbar visible of wi)
          if vis then
                    set (toolbar visible of wi) to false
          else
                    set (toolbar visible of wi) to true

The only problem is, you can easily hide the toolbar this way, but once the toolbar is hidden, you cannot turn it on again, since the button now is hidden , so you may wish to put a link to the script in the Dock as well
