Using UIX 2.2 in Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2

Jdeveloper 10.1.2 was released with UIX support built-in.
I have been working on 10.1.3.2 for a while and i am required to work on an old application that was build in 10.1.2 using UIX and Struts. How can integrate the UIX enviornment to 10.1.3.2. and most probably i will be requierd to build new pages for the same application modules and i am of course, going to choose to build the new pages in JSF while keeping the older pages (UIX pages). both will have BC4J model
I am aware of the migration tool, but not ready to go into a migration process, the application if for a GSM operator and been used by some 400 + users

There is no more UIX support in 10.1.3 and greater. Oracle dropped UIX like a hot potato.
People tried to get UIX running on top of a 10.1.3 binding/model stack but failed.
So, mixing JSF and UIX on top of the very same model layer is probably impossible. Running JSF and UIX pages in unison sounds pretty hairy to me. Both will need their model layer versions and controllers.
I am not from Oracle. I had some email conversations with Steve Muench about the UIX/10.1.3 problem, but he couldn't help either. My impression is: If you are waiting for Oracle to provide UIX support in 10.1.3 and later .... don't hold your breath! UIX is as dead as a rusty doornail.
So my advice is: Stick to UIX until you can migrate the project completely to JSF and hang on to your copy of 10.1.2. That's what we do.

  • Is it possible to use SOA Suite 11g with JDeveloper's integrated WebLogic?

Is it possible to use SOA Suite 11g with JDeveloper's integrated WebLogic? Or do you have to install an external WebLogic?
    Thanks for help.
    Edited by: user7722720 on 07-Dec-2011 02:04

    Hi
By default, NO it is NOT possible to deploy any SOA Applications on Integrated Weblogic Server that comes with JDeveloper. This integrated weblogic server is very light weight basic weblogic server with single domain (only 1 AdminServer) to deploy a standard J2EE, ADF Applications like EJBs, WebApps, WebServices, ADF Apps etc. BUT SOA (having BPEL, BPMs etc ) cannot be deployed.
There is an option to upgrade this integrated weblogic server and install SOA on top of this. Like download soa installer that matches with your JDeveloper version and install soa on top of this weblogic. BUT I strongly do not recommend this, because you will not be able to upgrade iin future to the latest versions.
Yes, its always better to install the standalone Weblogic Server that matches with your JDeveloper version. Then install SOA on top of this Weblogic Server. Then create RCU Schemas in any Oracle Database. Run config wizard and create a SOA Domain. Now integrate this in your JDeveloper to deploy any soa applications.
Make sure that JDeveloper, Weblogic Server, SOA Software, RCU all these versions should match and they should be same.
    Thanks

  • Can we design the BPEL process using API's instead of JDeveloper

    hi' All,
I might be sounding funnny, however I would like to know "Can we design the BPEL process in 11G from scratch using API's instead of JDeveloper"
and is there some tutorial which talks about how to do this.
    thanks
    Yatan

    Hi,
Designing a BPEL process without JDev will not be a good way to go, but you can deploy the process without JDev and also can change the dynamic parameters while deployment. For that you, need a separate ANT script. For Prod Env this is a very common thing.

  • head Title in browser window using UIX

I have an application that is using UIX. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to add a variable value to the header of the webpage, meaning to top bar where the minimize maximize and close button are for each web page window.
Currently I have it saying a title but I want to add a functionality where it will post a value that I am storing in a bean.
    Thanks

    Sorry I just got it.

  • How do I use Generic LDAP Authentication in JDeveloper?

    1) How do I configure the internal OC4J environment to use the generic LDAP service?
    2) Does the JAZN LDAP only work with Oracle OID?
    3) Is there a document or list-of-documents that consolidates the JDeveloper OC4J server administration functions? The existing OC4J administrative documentation is splattered about various web documents.

  • Using a backing bean in JDeveloper to assign bean class variables

I am using JDeveloper 10 to make a jsp page that is a form full of inputs and buttons. JDeveloper then creates the setters and getters for you for the ids of the various inputs and buttons. I also have used JDeveloper to create a backing bean.
The idea of this is to have the backing bean read in parameter(s) from an http source/link(when the form is loaded or instantiated) and assign those parameter(s) to one of the bean class local variables.
The reason i want to do this is, is that when the form is loaded the first thing it will do is open up an available database(in the bean class constructor), then in the constructor call a function to do a database query that will return a result set that will then be used to fill up the form.
That variable that is assigned by the backing bean will be the value of a unique database identifier for doing the sql query so that is why it is important that i get this value as the form loads.
So simply i need to find out from someone how to do this. i am totally new to doing any jsp development or using managed beans and i have gotten far enough to launch the form, retrieve and write to the database using sql queries and all the rest.
I just dont know enough about managed beans to make a decision on things like making the bean have a session scope. do i need request scope? if i change to request scope how do i make sure the database isn't being called every time the page changes or is refreshed?(when i had it as request scope the constructor was being called every time the page was reloaded and that isnt effecient at all, especially with multiple users). can you define more than one managed bean in one faces config file? do i have to manually change something in the jsp file to make sure things run smoothly?
Just maybe things are easier than i see them to be and my only problem is that i just dont understand what i am doing. here is what my backing bean looks like now with just basic session scope.
An example of course would be something like: http://host:port/context-root/faces/register.jsp?12345 - where 12345 would be the value that i would like to assign to a local variable in my bean class that can then be used for filtering out information via a query then filling up the form, all this happening at instantiation.

    <!--oracle-jdev-comment:managed-bean-jsp-link:1register.jsp-->
    </managed-bean>
    </faces-config>
This is what i have now, i've tried tons of stuff on the web like assigned value parameters but just am stuck on exactly what to do as nothing has seemed to work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
don't think you will get a readily programmed solution to this (though I wish you luck). Here's how I would approach the managed bean issue
    - One managed bean that you configure from a java.util.HashMap. This bean should be in requestScope (should be okay here). Say the bean is called "formFields", then adding data to it can be done with the following EL #{formBean['attribute_name']}. You need to add this as the value Expression of the inputText field you create dynamically. The filed will then read and write to the HashMap
    - Create a managed bean in session scope to handle the database interaction. Put this into session scope (e.g. "database")
    - Create a managed bean that holds the action listener that handles the update, insert and delete actions (e.g. logic handler). This bean has a JSF reference to the root component in the page (or the form layout component to add the fields to)
The "database" bean is referenced from the logic handler managed bean using the #{database} expression, which you resolve using a ValueBinding (ExpressionBinding in JSF 1.2). Or, you configure the bean as a managed property.
The logic managed bean also needs to reference the formFields bean (similar to above) to access the contained filed names and attributes. If the filed attributes match column names in the database then you should be all set

  • Unable to use Subversion 1.7 from JDeveloper 11.1.2?

When I try to check out a workspace from my Subversion repository, I get the message
svn: The path '...' appears to be part of Subversion 1.7 ... Please upgrade your Subversion (SVNKit) client to use this working copy.

There is no update available under Help, Check for Updates.
Can it really be true that the latest JDev doesn't support the latest SVN here more than 6 months after its release? If you are seeing this issue, how are you circumventing it?

    Hi -
But 'Table.uix' included by 'TestUIT.uix' has been
ignored and has not worked!!So is the problem that you don't see the contents of Table.uix? Are any error messages logged? Do you see the contents of the GlobalHeader.uix and TabBar.uix includes?
It would be very helpful if you could put together a minimal testcase which reproduces the problem (no BC4J tags) that we could use to test the problem out over here.

  • How to use a ".generate" file in JDeveloper 11g ?

    hi
Using JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.0.1) I created a Database Diagram and dropped both SCOTT.EMP and SCOTT.DEPT tables on it, creating Offline Database Objects.
After that I used the "Generate..." option from the right-click menu on the SCOTT Offline Database Source in JDeveloper, to generate a SQL script.
Step 6 of 6 allowed me to "Save settings for reuse", resulting in a ".generate" file (see GenerateSQLFromDatabaseObjectsStep6Of6.png).
    question
How should I be able to reuse such a ".generate" file, the right-click menu does not have a "Generate" option (like JDeveloper 10g has) or something similar, see GenerateSQLRightClickMenuForGenerateFile.png.
