Using variables in formula heading of FR
Hi John,
I have a requirement where i need to have the variance of 2 budgets. That is the budget of prev yr and budget of curr yr.
Can i make use of the substitution variables in the heaading of that column> I tried a function VariableValue but it is noshowing any heading in the report. The heading is blank
Hi,
Are you talking about column names or the heading of the report, if you are talking about the heading of a report have a look at the function "GetHeading"

SAP PI: Using Variable Header Binding in Receiver Mail Adapter
Hello,
I try to use Variable Header Bindings in the Receiver Mail Adapter. Therefore I wrote the following User-Defined-Function in a mapping:
Java Function Start -
DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
.getTransformationParameters()
.get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
DynamicConfigurationKey key1 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
"http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail",
"XHeaderName1");
DynamicConfigurationKey key2 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
"http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail",
"XHeaderName2");
DynamicConfigurationKey key3 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
"http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail",
"XHeaderName3");
conf.put(key1, new String("Test1"));
conf.put(key2, new String("Test2"));
conf.put(key3, new String("Test3"));
Java Function End -
As expected I see the Attributes and Parameters in the Dynamic Configuration in the SAP XI Monitor:
Dynamic Configuration Informattion Start -
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
- <!-- Mapping der Request-Message
-->
- <SAP:DynamicConfiguration xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
<SAP:Record namespace="http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail" name="XHeaderName3">Test3</SAP:Record>
<SAP:Record namespace="http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail" name="XHeaderName2">Test2</SAP:Record>
<SAP:Record namespace="http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail" name="XHeaderName1">Test1</SAP:Record>
</SAP:DynamicConfiguration>
Dynamic Configuration Informattion End -
Now I configure my Receiver eMail Communication Channel and set the Variable Header Fields as follows:
Adapter Specific Attributes: Checked
Variable Transport Binding: Checked
Variable Header (XHeaderName1): TSender
Variable Header (XHeaderName2): TReceiver
Variable Header (XHeaderName3): TOther
With this configuration I would have expected three new Header fields in the Header of the eMail, the reicever gets. But they are not there.
When I set standard attributes like THeaderTO, THeaderSubject a.s.o this works fine and the values are also set accordingly. Where it the mistake here?
The PI version we are working with is PI 7.0 SP10.
Your help will be highly appreciated.
Thank you,
SteffenHi Luciana,
Honestly, I cant really remember how or if it was resolved and I was just helping out on the issue, but another consultant continued with it, so unfortunately I cant be any help on this.
Good luck!
Cheers,

Retrieve the message put in message header using variable substitution
hi,
i am using dynamic configuration to put some information in the message header.is it possible to retrieve the message using variable substitution and if it is possible then how it be done using variable substitution.
regards,
MeenakshiVariable Substitution does not allow you to read all the messaeg header elements only some of them can be read/ access....for more info on how to read the message header elements refer: /people/jin.shin/blog/2007/04/27/sap-netweaver-xi-variable-substitution-with-adapter-specific-message-attributes-via-dynamicconfigurationbean
From the above blog:
When using Variable Substitution, only certain standard message header attributes can be used/accessed (e.g. sender_party,
sender_service, receiver_party, receiver_service, interface_name, interface_namespace, message_id)
Better use Dynamic Configuration to read the parameters.
I am wondering why you need to read the message header parameters when you are putting them using Dynamic Configuration.....cant you just get the details from the dynamic configuration UDF itself?
Regards,
Abhishek.

OBIEE 11g: Use presentation variable in Column Heading
Hi everyone,
I was playing around with sample app dashboards and I saw a dashboard prompt that they converted into a column selector. I liked it and reproduced it in my own sandbox.
I like the results, however, I would also like to change the column heading to clearly reflect which measure was selected. It's pretty clear when you are looking in the dashboard, but once you export the data, it can be confusing which measure was selected.
That is why I would like to use a presentation variable in the column heading section. I tried to do this but it interpreted it as a literal instead of evaluating the statement.
Is there anyway to get a variable in the column heading?
Thanks!
-JoeHi,
Have a look at the following links:

hope it helps.

Variable and Formulas Question
Hi folks,
I use BOXI r2 sp 4 and I have a general question re: variables and formulas in Webi reports.
Billing Year Month and Cost of Service are standard time dimensions and measures that I use in my Webi reports and they were created at the semantic level.
Normally, I create cross tab reports with the Billing Year Month along the horizontal axis and the Cost of Service in the Body (Business Unit or Department would be placed along the vertical axis).
For some reason, when I use formulas/variables to modify the standard time dimensions (like changing Billing Year Month to Year), the values for the Cost of Service are returned incorrectly.
Example.
Semantic object: Billing Year Month = (yyyy-MM) returns correct values
Report variable: Substr([Billing Year Month;1;4) returns incorrect values
Can anyone please explain this problem?
Thanks,
WannettaHi John,
The attribute of the Billing Year Month at the semantic level is a character type.
After reading your response, I realize that I may not have been clear regarding the problem.
The following formula does return the correct value in and of itself.
>=Substr([Billing Year Month];1;4
If I create a variable and then drag it onto my crosstab, it returns the correct value ONLY within the header.
When I drag the cost of service measure onto the crosstab; the header values remain the same but values in the body either disappear or the change to reflect incorrect values.
I thought one of the prime features of Webi was the ability of the Report Developer to create variables/formulas and use them in the headers to manipulate the semantic "measures" in the body (read: output) at the report level.
Is this a matter of semantic design or does Webi not possess this capability?
Or, is the issue entirely different?
Thanks!

Is it possible to use a DateDiff formula within a single field?
Post Author: EarthMover
CA Forum: Formula
I have a field that lists transaction times for the signing on and off of maintenance tickets.
My problem is that since both the sign-on and the sign-off are in the same field, I don't have the
option of using the DateDiff formula like I normally would ex: DateDiff ("Interval",startDatetime, endDateTime).
Because the start-date and end-date are in the same field, the formula returns no value. To combat this
I believe that an IF/THEN/ELSE statement would work, if I made one for the start-date and one for the end-date.
My transaction field is using a DateTime format ex: 10/28/2007 11:58:07. I tried making the IF portion of the statement
dependant on another field that tells me if they've signed off or on ex: ACDN or ACUP, both of these are examples of someone
signing on to a ticket, and signing off of a ticket results in: COMP. Based on this information I believe it should be possible to create
a conditional statement to return to the information I require. I've attached an example of what I see, at the bottom.
I've only been using Crystal for a couple of weeks now, so I'm still learning, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Repeating group variables on the header of a second page.
In BI Publisher Desktop 11.1.1.6
I have something similar to a customer and a list of invoices. On each page I need the customer info at the top and also some customer info printed at the bottom of the page. The customer is a group and I do a page break on it and list all of the detail invoices. This works fine except for when the list of invoices goes beyond a page.
I cannot find a way to have the customer info repeated on the top and bottom of the second or consecutive page(s). It would be great if the header could pick up the customer name but it does not appear to be that you can use variables in an MS-Word header. Is this possible and if so, can anyone point me to any examples of how to do this?
Thanks!Thanks very much but I am missing something or did not ask my question correctly.
If I add <?Customer_Name?> into the heading, it prints the name but it prints the first customer name on every page (the same name). It does not pick up the second customer record name when it is on the body of the second customer. So, page one has Customer 1 in the heading and some detail.. Page 2 has Customer 1 in the heading but the detail is for Customer2 . How would I get the header variables to pick up the customer record name that the for loop changes to? Also not sure what you mean by putting the tables in the header. The repeat table is in the body. Are you saying move that into the header?
I do appreciate your help...as I know I am close and think I am missing something simple. -

If you just create a string, it's not going to fill in variables into the string by magic. -

FTPs connection error:When using Variable substitution for Directory path
Hi
I am transferring data from BI to xml file via PI: Here a Client proxy from BI sends the data to PI and the PI FTPs the XML file to a remote location. For FTP I am using FTPs SSL connection.
It was working fine untill I used Variable susbstitution to determine Directory path dynamically. I am using this because different xml files are intended to goto the different locations.
I did the variable substitution like this:
Target Message Structure:
---> Target Directory: %var1%
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<MT_BI_EXTRACT_FILE>
<Header>
<Directory>/Customer</Directory>
</Header>
<Detail>
</Detail>
</MT_BI_EXTRACT_FILE>
And in the variable substitution I am doing it this way
payload:MT_BI_EXTRACT_FILE,1,Header,1,Directory,1
And the error I am getting is:
Attempt to process file failed with Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool: com.sap.aii.af.service.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: iaik.security.ssl.SSLException: Peer sent alert: Alert Fatal: handshake failure

Does anybody have some Idea of this ??
Regards
NainaHi,
I guess the problem is not with Variable Substitution..
Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool:
So its a connection problem..
Also check the option Disable Security check and try again...
Try to check again if the interface is executing properly without Variable substitution and let us know..

Report Painter - variables in formulas
Dear all,
we try to use value variables in formulas within Report Painter reports which should not influence the selection. Example: the benchmark of a daily rate is 975 - and the report should calculate the variance between the effective daily rate (total of service-provider costs divided by number of rendered hours divided by 8). The 975 should not be stored as a fixed value within the formula but should be defined as a value variable.
Ideally the value should be editable at the selection screen.
Has anybody an idea?
Thanks for your response.Hi
I suspect you are not able to use the '& symbol in the formula in your system because the note 593897 was not present in old release.
Due to this note there is no need to enter '&' symbol for variables in the formula but in order for the variables to be used please make sure that the variable is contained in the general data selection of the report.

I can't get the script to work: the dynamic text box is displaying NaN after I run the function and use a hard-coded number for the variable. Here's the button's script that is getting a NaN display. Regards,
saratogacoachI don't know the formula that you're trying to achieve, but the log and sqrt must use positive values.
If you're uncertain if a variable (or formula result) will give you a negative result and you need a positive one, you can use the Math.abs, which return s always a positive value.
I've just altered like this in the first IF:
var q:Number=Math.sqrt(Math.abs(-2*Math.log(p)));
and in the second:
q=Math.sqrt(Math.abs(-2*Math.log(Math.abs(1-p))));
In this case the second formula has two Math.abs since I don't know the result of "1-p" (in this case is negative) and then you multiply by "-2" wich will make the number negative again, so it has to be positive for the square root. If you have the change consider changing the formula to see you can eliminate, so many Math.abs, make it simple.
Otherwise is just a question of predicting results and see if the formula fits right. -
Dynamically creating file using variable
HI, i am facing an issue in creating file on run time using variable.
i have a variable FileName. In refresh tab i have written a query like SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'YYYY,MM,DD') || 'TEST' FROM DUAL. i tested the variable and its value is correct.
i have created an interface to extract the data from table and store it in file. i have assigned variable FileName to the file.
Now when i run the interface...the file is created but the header is created in different file and its name is ambiguous e,g(19) and the data is placed in other file with the name which is the value of variable FileName.....
ISSUE is two ODI creates two files one for header only and other for data....
when i run my interface in a package the file created perfectly ..... but i dun want to use package i want to create file through running interface onlyone file name is some number like 19.txt and other filename is 20121211_TEST.txt (this name is coming from variable).....
however when i create a package with variable and interface,only one file is created 20121211_TEST.txt (header and data are not created in separate files.)
create header (ID,
NAME,
DEPT)

Using variables in Calc scripts and Business Rules
I am sure there have been previous discussions about this, but can somebody let me know the benefits of using variables in Calc scripts and BRs?
Thanks,
AI have never used calc variables and after reading a study guide, which talked about them, I couldn't really understand the benefits.^^^I use variables all the time to make abstract difficult formulas. Below is an example.
/* Declare variables */
VAR varSalaryCosts ;
VAR varProdOHLabXXXX ;
VAR varXXXX ;
A whole bunch of code here along with very limited FIX statement and then...
"Salaried Labor"
varSalaryCosts = "Salary Costs"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
"Wage Bonus"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
"YYYY Retention Bonus 40%"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
"YYYY 60% Ret Bonus Accrual"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" ;
varProdOHLabXXXX = "Number of Employees"->"ZZZZDepartments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
"Number of Employees"->"Blah Departments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
"Number of Employees"->"Humph Departments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
"Number of Employees"->"TTTT"->"Codes"->"Salaried" ;
"Salaried Labor" = varSalaryCosts * ("Number of Employees"->"Salaried" / varProdOHLabXXXX) ;
)The last formula is how the formula was described to me by the business owner. I find it to be much easier to read than something like:
"Salaried Labor" = ("Salary Costs"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
"Wage Bonus"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
"YYYY Retention Bonus 40%"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
"YYYY 60% Ret Bonus Accrual"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried") *
("Number of Employees"->"Salaried" /
("Number of Employees"->"ZZZZDepartments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
"Number of Employees"->"Blah Departments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
"Number of Employees"->"Humph Departments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
"Number of Employees"->"TTTT"->"Codes"->"Salaried")) ;I have used ARRAY in a really-cool-but-alas-not-invented-by-me calc script to do currency conversion in Planning better than Planning does currency conversion. (How's that for a run-on sentence?) It is one of the six blog posts I am working on and I will finish it soon, I hope. I am sort of in thrash mode right now. It does have its uses and I'll try to remember to update this thread when I'm done.

Using variables in etext template
Hello All,
I have a requirement where in I have to print totals in each trailer of a batch. I have to do totals only for a particular set of records.
For doing sum there is a value column under each outboundpayment record. say /payment/value
Output contains the following
header
body
trailer
for each batch the above 3 will be repeated .
say for batch 01 there will be a header, 2 records in the body and 1 record in the trailer section. Now in the trailer section I have to print sum only for batch 01.
When Iam doing sum(payment/value) it is printing the sum of all the batches as there is no condition while doing sum.
outboundpaymentinstruction
outboundpayment - 01
outboundpayment - 01
outboundpayment - 03
outboundpayment - 03
outboundpayment - 04
outboundpayment - 04
outboundpaymentinstruction
Can anyone provide some guidance. Is there a possibility of using variables ?
