Using  Weblogic app environment in Visual Age

Hi,
          I am using Weblogic as my test environment in Visual Age. I am getting alone
          well with servlet and beans. But I am having enormous problem with jsp. Does
          any body know how to configure weblogic test environment in Visual age to
          use bean tag in JSP (the JSP cannot locate the beans although the classpath
          has set to the project_resource/project Name).
          Help will be highly appreciated

          I don't understand this at all.
          My VisualAge has no notion of JSP (professional), that all came after I
          imported all of
          the weblogic stuff. So what does "VA supports a back level revision of JSP
          spec" actually
          mean?
          Also, "has created their JSP container to be tightly integrated with VA".
          There is no
          JSP container to speak of except for that which weblogic provides. Perhaps
          you are
          referring to some Websphere/VA environment?
          All in all, the integration is just about wonderful. Is there a good reason
          why JSP is not
          supported? Seeing what VA does with the WebSphere environment, I believe
          that the IDE
          environment is capable of dynamically reloading classes that have been
          generated etc.
          The basic question is: Why doesn't the VA environment support JSP's? If the
          answer is:
          "we haven't implemented it yet" then I understand, (and will ask when it
          will be:-) ).
          Questioningly,
          Jon

  • Performance of Weblogic 4.03 and Visual Age 2.0

    Hello,
    I am experiencing severe performance problems when running Weblogic 4.03 and
    Visual Age 2.0. The server runs extremely slowly in this environment,
    however, the 3.13 version did not suffer from this. Has anyone else noticed
    this? Is there anything I can do about it?

    Has anyone else noticed this? Is there anything I can do about it?You can set the following undocumented property in weblogic.properties:
    weblogic.system.gc.intervalSecs=5
    There's some kind of bad interaction between Visual Age and WebLogic's
    garbage collection control. Basically, there's a garbage collection
    task that by default runs once a second, and in the Visual Age VM,
    something it's doing takes more than a second.
    The problem only seems to exist in WebLogic 4.0.3. It doesn't happen in
    4.5.x. Also, according to one report I've had, you may need to set the
    property value to more than 5 on slower machines.
    Note that this property is unsupported, and is not guaranteed to even
    exist in any other version of WebLogic.

  • Weblogic 5.1 and Visual Age 3.5

    Hello !
    I'am using Weblogic server 5.1 and i want to add the visual age integration kit to my visual age enterprise edition 3.5. But i wonder if there is an integration kit for this version of visual age ?
    Any hint is appreciated !

    I am also in this boat! And the boat really wants to leave the docks
    this week (so we can move all our dev int VA).
    A contractor here got it working, but I am having some difficulty.
    So far, I've gotten the server to start, but I am having problems
    getting the JDBC20 drivers to do the right thing. (What's strange is
    that the app is running fine on our Solaris environments. It just
    doesn't fly in VA on NT.)
    If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. We have a support call
    out to BEA...
    Getting the integration kit installed isn't that hard. Just follow the
    instructions. When you try to add the features, you'll get error alerts
    saying that class javax.aaa.bbb.ccc already exists in the Java class
    libraries. You have to delete each of these packages that clashes,
    re-runing the "add feature" each time.
    To delete a package, first, open an edition for "Java class libraries",
    and then delete the package. (On the project, Right
    mouse->Manage->Create Open Edition, then on the package, Right
    mouse->Delete...)
    There might be some stray problems. I try to eliminate them by finding
    the relevant package (click on each problem, and look in the status bar
    at the bottom of the window) and then changing the particular version
    being used. Go with the ones weblogic provides. I think that was all.
    After this, you can go with the instructions in the kit. It's a little
    tricky setting up parallel config files if you're going to develop on
    DOS and deploy on Unix.
    If you're using VA and WL, please drop me an email.

  • SSO using WebLogic app server and AD as the auth source

    Hi All,
    I am trying to setup SSO on 10gR3 using MS Active Directory as the auth source and WebLogic as the app server.
    Do I have to create a custom SSO or can this setup be configured using the basic SSO and config changes?
    Any help or guidance will be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Bob

    There are many ways. The generic answer is federation via SAML, look at the docs for Oracle Identity Federation.

  • JSP output does not change on Weblogic 5.1 / Visual Age 3.5

    I'm making developmen on Weblogic 5.1 and Visual Age 3.5.
              I change a JSP and when I reload it in my browser, I can see that the

  • Commerce Server and Visual Age 3.5

    I tried and was unsuccessful getting the Commerce server (3.11) to run
    under Visual Age 3.5. I can get it to start up correctly, but if I test
    a commerce application, Visual Age disappears with no messages. From
    my experiments, I think it is a problem with a conflict between versions
    of the CORBA or javax components that cannot be loaded into VA from the
    weblogic distribution (because they are 'required by the system' in VA;
    no workaround I know of to get them in there). Another constraint is
    that you must use the weblogic.Server class from the Weblogic VA
    Integration Kit; perhaps it is incompatible.
    So, has anybody got a commerce application to appear running the
    weblogic commerce server under visual age 3.5?
    Note that I did get the plain weblogic server 5.1.0 running with thte VA
    integration kit, and I can get the commerce server to startup correctly.

    Bryan,
    I have succesfully used Kawa 5.x Enterprise (Beta) with WLCS. You should
    check it out if you are interested in a more "standards" based solution for
    the Windows platform.

  • Visual Age 3.5, WLS 5.1, Integration Kit 5.1 beta and JSP?

    Hello,
    i have a problem with the missing JSP-support in Visual Age. It would be a
    workaround to develop JSP outside Visual Age and just put them into the
    myserver/public_html directory. But if i start WLS from within Visual Age,

  • Visual Age Java and WebLogic

    Hi there,
    I am using Visual Age for Java and Weblogic for my EJB development. I want

    Hi,
    I'm not sure what you are asking but all you need to do once you have VAJ
    configured to run WLS is to deploy your bean (put it in the weblogic.ejb.deploy
    property in the weblogic.properties file) and run the weblogic server inside of
    VAJ. Of course, you will need to run a client that uses the bean to be able to
    step through the execution of a bean method...
    Hope this helps,

  • Migrating CORBA apps to J2EE using Weblogic

    Hullo,
    This may not be directly related to RMI-IIOP per se, but I was hoping to ask for
    some best practices / pointers / risks involved in migrating a CORBA app to a
    J2EE environment.
    I understand that a lot depends on the application semantics itself (sessions
    / transactions / security / ..) but I was hoping to ask for some general rules
    of thumb.
    The business domain is well identified - only a new technology needs to be incorporated.
    We are going to take on this task using Weblogic 6.1 sp2 and realize that a phased
    process would be ideal where critical parts of the application are kept intact
    as CORBA components and the rest are rewritten as J2EE components talking to the
    legacy components using Java interfaces generated by the IDL.
    Any experiences and stories would be most appreciated.
    Cheers!

    Anthony,
    Have you installed the SP 10 service pack for the VAJ I-Kit ? That may be the issue. The I-Kit
    requires this service pack to work with WLS 5.1 SP10. The service pack can be downloaded at -

  • How to setup the cluster environment for BPM using weblogic

    want to setup the cluster environment for BPM using weblogic....
    i have installed the oracle weblogic server 10gr3 and oracle BPM enterprise for weblogic 10gR3
    i have used the Admin tools from the "oracle BPM enterprise for weblogic" to setup the configuration and create the weblogic domain servers.
    i can launch the process administrator and import the project exp file to domain server.
    but what should i do to setup cluster environment using weblogic?
    what i want to do is :
    setup one admin machine..
    setup two product machine..
    enable the cluster so the admin machine can monitor the status of the product machine..
    thanks a lot ...

    The install guide at http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/config_guide/index.html gives a reasonable amount of info on how to do this.
    Personally I have not used the OBPM option to configure WebLogic instead I've used the information in the above install guide to create the weblogic domain in advance of configuring OBPM.
    Once you've setup WebLogic configure OBPM using the values I mention in the following thread: How to set the JMX Engine parameter in Process Administation?
    Let me know any specific config questions and I'll do my best to answer them for you.
    Thanks,

  • Installing (using) JSSE to Visual Age

    Hi all,
    I have installed JSSE 1.0.2 in JDK 1.3.1 successfully.. Everything is working fine. However what I need to do is use JSSE under Visual Age 3.5... (my VA is iv3-4 jdk 1.2.2 (patched.))
    I am importing three jar files which comes with JSSE but same test programs which works fine with JDK is not working under VA... Can anyone help about installation process of JSSE to VA?
    Ex: Program below works fine with JDK1.3.1 but not under VA...
    import java.net.*;
    import javax.net.ssl.*;
    public class JSSE_install_check {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
         SSLServerSocketFactory factory =
         (SSLServerSocketFactory) SSLServerSocketFactory.getDefault();
         SSLServerSocket sslSocket =
         (SSLServerSocket)factory.createServerSocket(5757);
         String [] cipherSuites = sslSocket.getEnabledCipherSuites();
         for (int i = 0; i < cipherSuites.length; i++) {
         System.out.println("Cipher Suite " + i +
              " = " + cipherSuites);
    Thanks a lot.
    Emre

    Do you get an error message ?
    I have installed the same extension package to my VA 3.5 and worked fine

  • Using Weblogic to Deploy Simple Flex App

    Hi,
       I am trying to deploy a simple Flex application in a weblogic8.1  server , so that I can use it locally.
    Can any one please guide me where and how I have to deploy my flex app .
    I am pretty new to this can any body provide me a guide or walk through step wise for me.
    More over What is the url I need to give in the browser to access the flex app I deploy in the Weblogic server.
    (At present I am using the IIS -- just copying the .swf file and wrapper html page in to the C:\Inetpub\wwwroot and giving http://localhost/test.html
    in the browser to access it) ---  How do I do this using Weblogic 8.1
    thanks
    Nash

    Hi again Nash,
    the stuff I am doing at present is not yet permitted to be publicly available, but the principles are very straightforward. Remember that WebLogic is primarily concerned with server-side functionality and Flex with client-side, so there is not really a great deal of overlap. The place where your Flex instantiation code will sit is in one or other JSP, using code very like the templates that Adobe generate. The only thing you have to do is ensure that your JSP (or the controller/code files behind it) generate HTML that contains the necessary. I tend to use the Apache Beehive libraries for UI stuff, but from vague memory I don't think these were around in WL8 - however, it doesn't really matter what tag library you prefer as all you are doing is generating HTML that looks like the usual JavaScript calls to AC_FL_RunContent (or swfobject if you are using that method). Basically, just take the Adobe-generated template and wrap the necessary bits and pieces round the edge to make it a proper JSP.
    When you need to make calls to get functionality, just use something like
                        service = new HTTPService();
                        separator_date = new Date();
                        service.url = "get_tool_list.jsp?sep=" + separator_date.valueOf();
                        service.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT , fault_handler);
                        service.addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT, resultHandler);
                        service.resultFormat = "text";
                        CursorManager.setBusyCursor();
                        service.requestTimeout = WEB_SERVICE_TIMEOUT;
                        service.send();
    and then inside get_tool_list.jsp (or whatever...) do the server-side functionality you need, and return the result in a suitable format that the Flex resultHandler method can then interpret and make use of.
    Hope that helps,
    Richard
