Using webutil to test file size (csv) .

I use Webutil_file.File_Size to test if a csv file is empty.Even the file is empty it returns a value greater than zero (No data in the file). What could be the solution to find if no data in the file to return zero or another solution.Very urgent please!

If you have a "very urgent" issue, I recommend contacting Oracle Consulting or Oracle Support. The forums are not for "urgent" issues. Also, in order to get "urgent" help, include as much detail as possible would be a good start. For example, exactly which Forms and WebUtil version are you using? What is the client platform (Windows what)?
I have tested what you descibed using Forms 10.1.2.3 with WebUtil 10.1.2.3 on Windows 2003 and XP and it appears to work correctly. WEBUTIL_FILE.FILE_SIZE correctly returns 0 when the file size is 0 and returns the correct size when not 0.
     fileSize := Webutil_file.File_Size ('C:\someDirectory\somefile.csv');

  • Using "done signing" increases file size 3 to 5 times !

The new feature in Acrobat Reader 10.1.2 onwards is great - I can add a signature and a date.
BUT if I use "done signing" the file size increases 3 to 5 times the original file size !  So I used File Save - and that worked well.
Then I updated to 10.1.6 - and now the signature that I added is not "fixed" - it can be deleted or moved !
We don't want to use digital signatures !!
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks

When you click the "Done Signing" button, the signature appearance and any text you added is flattened and becomes regular page contents and it won't be able to be moved or deleted as you describe. I also don't see a file size increase as you describe. Are you using an image for the signature and if so, how large is it (in bytes)?

  • Exporting FLV using On2 - acheiving small file size

My 2 minute 20 second fcp sequence is exporting at 15fps, max streaming br 2000, sized at 657x369. Encoding mode CBR-Streaming, 2-pass, kf Max 60. This resulted in a 34 MB file that I fear is too big for the Interactive Media folks to put in an email. It's critical that this thing doesn't stutter. Any way for me to bring down the file size w/o losing quality?

Please do not post duplicate questions.
The only way to reduce file size is to:
    a. reduce the image size
    b. reduce the frame rate
    c. reduce the run time
    d. increase the compression
All of the above will affect the final image. Whether the resulting image is acceptable can only be determined by you and designated viewers.
imho Sending a video in an email is usually a bad idea. Better is a link where they can find a streaming version ...

  • Which ActiveX command do I use to IMPORT TEST FILES INTO EXCEL?

    Happy New Year!
I am trying to write large data files to XL, but they take very long to write. Now I am trying to write text files and then near the end of teh program import them into an Excel file. IS there an ActiveX command I should use for this (invoke node)?
    Thank-you!
    Ivanka

    Yes, you can do it.
    1. Write a simple VBA procedure in Excel to import text file (or, you can use the macro recorder in Excel to do it) and very it works properly.
    2. Copy the code into a string constant in your Labview code. The code must contains "Sub ... End Sub"
    3. while you are sting inside Excel, disable Excel macro security check to make it to setting "low"
    3. If you have report generation toolkit, then there are three methods: Excel Import Module, Run Module and Remove module. Wire those in sequence with all the appropriate inputs. I'm sure there are corresponding method in Excel ActiveX but could not remember it.
    4. test it and modify it until it works

  • Using cfimage to reduce file size

I want my site's users to upload their photos. If the user
tries to upload a file over 100kb, I want to use the Quality
attribute of cfimage to reduce the size to 100kb. To do this, do I
first have to upload the file with <cfimage action="write"
    destination=[myserver]>, and then use <cfimage quality=[x]"
to overwrite this file? Or can I resize the temp file BEFORE
    uploading it to my server?
    Thanks.

If you think it through it is obvious that this is not
possible with ColdFusion. It is a server-side technology so cannot
do anything to it before it gets to your server, in fact when using
<cffile action="upload"....../> the web server actually
handles the upload and cf just takes over when the temporary file
    is created.
To do what you wanted would have to be done with some sort of
applet embedded in the web page.

  • Using WEBUTIL to transfer files to server

We need to transfer files from Forms client to database server filesystem.
It seems, WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER doesn’t provide this functionality.
We modified supplied webutil_db package body, so if the blobtable parameter is 'FILE' – closeblob procedure will use UTL_FILE to write OS file instead of updating blob in table.
    Now we can call
    webutil_file_transfer.client_to_db (clientfile => myclientfilename,
    tablename => 'FILE',
    columnname => myserverfilename,
    whereclause => myserverdir
This solution is working fine, but, of course, our concern is compliance of our custom changes with future releases of WEBUTIL.
Any plans to add something like Client_To_Server procedures to webutil?

    Just a thought..
    1) make table that accepts your blob via client_to_db.
    2) write a after insert trigger that copies file to an Oracle Directory on db file system.
You could also maybe use this PLSQL ftp package.. I havent used it.. Users talk about it frequently on other forums here, namely the sql and plsql forum.
    http://www.chrispoole.co.uk/apps/xutlftp.htm
Notice the "unloading blobs to database filesystem" line below.
With XUTL_FTP the transferring of the file IS the data loading process.
The file is NOT copied to disk, it's simply 'poured' straight into whatever table you like!
If this wasn't enough, it also has the other following uses:
unloading BLOBS to the database server file system (as UTL_FILE does not have a working binary implementation until 10g)
arbitrary unloading of data to remote servers
obtaining a file listing for a directory on the database server file system Message was edited by:

  • Using XMP to print file size?

I want to print the image dimensions (i.e. 8 inches X 12 inches @ 300 dpi) on contact sheets or printouts so I don't have to write the information out by hand. Is there some way using XMP to take this information and place it in the caption (automatically of course) so I can then have the printout I want? Is there some other way to do this?
I have Photoshop 7, on OS 9.22 and I really know nothing about XMP.
    Thanks,

  • In Acrobat 6 and 7 Professional, what compression methodology is used with the "Reduce File Size"?

    For example, bicubic downsampling to 72 pixels/in.?, to 150 pixels/in.?, to 300 pixels/in.?,
Are all embedded thumbnails also removed?
    Are all layers also flattened?

My work around for now is "Make Compatible with…’ from Acrobat 4.0 " which does not support JPEG2000 compression.

  • WebUtil File Transfer - file size limit

Does anybody know what the file size limit is if I want to transfer it from the client to the application server using WebUtil? The fileupload bean had a limit of 4 Mb.
    Anton Weindl

Webutil is only supported for 10g. THe following is added to the release notes:
When using Oracle Forms Webutil File transfer function, you must take into consideration performance and resources issues. The current implementation is that the size of the Forms application server process will increase in correlation with the size of the file that is being transferred. This, of course, has minimum impact with file sizes of tens or hundreds of kilobytes. However, transfers of tens or hundreds of megabytes will impact the server side process. This is currently tracked in bug 3151489.
Note that current testing up to 150MB has shown no specific limits for transfers between the database and the client using WebUtil. Testing file transfers from the client to the application server has shown no specific limit up to 400Mb; however, a limit of 23Mb has been identified for application server to client file transfers.

  • Using CMAppUtil file size is smaller when converted

I'm new to using technet forums so if my question is in the wrong place I apologize.  I've just started using SCCM for Mac deployments and have a question regarding the file size after conversions using CMAppUtil.
I've used CMAppUtil on a couple of .dmg's and the converted .cmmac files is within a couple of mb's of the original, so I am presumming they are ok.  However I've just converted Adobe CS 6 using CMAppUtil and the file size is incredibly small, the CS6.dmg
is approx 6GB, the converted file is just under 900MB, seems far too small to be a complete installer.  Without actually deploying the file I have no idea, our server is still in the construction phase for use with Mac's but I'm trying to get
a handle on the conversion process and learning how to create deployment applications/packages while it is completed.
Is there a file size limitation with CMAppUtil?  Is the converted file compressed when it is large?  I haven't been able to find a lot of information on CMAppUtil online so I'm hoping someone can answer this question for me.  I converted the
file a few times to see if it was failing or ending early but each time it is the same size.  The other though I have is that it does convert to a .app.cmmac file not a .pkg.cmmac file so is it simply creating an installer that will run out to the
web for the balance of the installation files?
    Thanks in advance

  • Final Cut Pro exporting Quicktime movie and file size

I make short stop motion animations in FCP and usually when I export using current setting the file size is about 230MB for 60 seconds movie. However with the current project the exported quicktime movie file is only 32.1MB for 57 seconds movie. I don't think this is normal even though I set it with "current setting" and check off the make movie self-contained box.
How could I make the export setting back to normal so the exported quicktime movie will still be in high quality in a big file size?

    Hi Ian,
it looks clear and same quality as usual. Maybe this is just how it is.
I am still worried because I exported another project to test and this one also is now exported into reduced file size. This is a 60 seconds movie and when I last exported, FCP created a 225.2MB quicktime file and when I exported exactly the same project again just now it is only 22MB... again, this is not self-contained movies.
To be honest with you I am really not familiar with digital settings, and I was trying to figure out export setting for a required file size and aspect ratio etc. for a projection the other day and it has been since then that my FCP started exporting smaller size QT files.
My project is in 4:3 ratio and all images on video sequence are digital still images. If you could kindly point out some places to look at to make sure that the settings are correct, that might be helpful (?)
    thanks much!

  • Having problems reducing PDF file size.

    Really frustrated...
    Mac 10.6.8
    Acrobat Pro X 10.1.4
I do not have access to the originating files for the PDF in question. Original file is 268MB.
    6.25" x 10.25" document size.
I have used Save As Reduced file size. Increased file to 312MB.
I have Save As Optimized PDF with smallest file size. and got the file down to 247MB.
I printed out to a .ps file and ran it through Distiller with a custom Smaller File size taking it down to 72dpi (.ps file was 2.6GB) and got the file to 216MB.
I did another Optimize of the 216MB file clicking everything [flattening, fonts, images, etc.] and the file came out to 530MB. (Really?!?!)
    [This also took 3.5 hours.]
Ok, content stream at 97%. I don't know what that is or how to reduce it.
I'd love to get this below 100MB and below 50MB would be great.
Any help / hints / tricks / tips are greatly apprectiated.

I'm not sure that printing to a new PDF is the answer.  When I print to a PDF, my pdf size balloons (often by 3x the original size).   I've checked the settings in the print profile (verifying I'm printing to black and white, and lowering the DPI from 1200 to 300) but even at that, the finished product is often 2.5x the original.  (Background on the document ... it was paper, I scanned it at 400 dpi.  The file size was around 3 MB.  I added a footer and then printed to pdf.  The finished product was 9 MB.)  Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

  • Issues in Reducing file size on Acrobat 9.3.1

The text has been merged or split on Acrobat 9.3.1 Pro by using the option "Reduce File Size" or "PDF Optimizer". There is no issue in the earlier version of Acrobat (7.0 & 8.0). We are using the Mac OS between 10.4.11 to 10.6.2. I have attached screenshots for your reference; please look at the Word "Issues" has been split after reducing file size on Acrobat 9.3.1. Is there any other way to do Hi-Res PDF to Low-Res PDF without any issue? Kindly help me out to sustain the best process in future.

I found a similar problem with text styled for small caps. It was fine in the original PDF, but became lowercase in the reduced file. The reduction process probably throws away characters from fonts that Acrobat decides are unnecessary.
I was able to partially solve the problem by combining multiple PDFs (book chapters) and selecting the smallest file size icon at the bottom of the page. Alternately, I chose a web-quality preset, which also worked. The file size might not be quite as small, but the files were good.

  • Reducing file size in Acrobat Pro XI

Created a 36 page PDF from 300ppi scans of pages of a large 1822 Bible, applied OCR, resulting file size was 53, 149 KB.  Need to get it down below 20,000 KB.  Used "Save as Other>File Size Reduce" and "Save as Other>Optimize." Set the latter to Reader X, and minimum size. Result was no reduction whatever in file size.  What's wrong?

I have Acrobat Pro X - so I'm not sure if XI has this same feature, or if it's in the same location, but see if you can try this:
Tools > Document Processing > Optimize Scanned PDF
I use this a lot to reduce PDFs that won't reduce through a Save As.
    Hope this helps.

  • Delete Pages, file size, PDF Optimizer Clean Up

Using Acrobat 9 Pro (for Windows, if that makes any difference).
I have a 148 page PDF of a magazine, about 58 MB in size.
I Deleted 40 pages of ads, leaving just the useful content.
The file size is still about 58 MB.
When I run Advanced -> PDF Optimizer,
the file size goes down to about 47 MB.
The Optimizer settings don't seem to matter.
Even with just "Clean Up" checked, all its options UNchecked,
and Compression set to "Leave Compression Unchanged"
the file size is still reduced.
I have tried several other PDF editors and tools,
and none of them reduce the file size after deleting the 40 pages,
even using their "optimize" or "compress" functions.
Can someone explain why deleting pages does not reduce the file size,
and what the Optimizer is doing (that the other tools don't do)
to reduce the file size ?
    Thanks,
