Using XML_Query in JAVA
I'm using the OracleXMLQuery class to retrieve a CLOB from an Oracle table that was populated from an APEX Rich Text Field page. The XML file that is generated is fine except that the CLOB column has the angle brackets for the STRONG tag translated into XML characters and all the other formatting tags (em, for example) stripped out. Is there any way around this? Thanks.
Hi,
Is there any way around this?It's expected behaviour.
In text or attribute nodes, characters such as <, >, & or " must be escaped in order to produce a valid XML content.
How are you going to use the field once you have it in the XML?
If you want to extract it later into a string variable, then any XML parser should be able to translate back characters to their unescaped forms.
See below examples for alternatives :
- constructing an XMLType with mixed content
- using a CDATA section
{code}
SQL> create table test_xml (
2 id number,
3 text_field clob
4 )
5 ;
Table created
SQL> insert into test_xml (id, text_field)
2 values(1, 'This is a <strong>formatted text</strong>.
3 Another line with <em>emphasized text</em>.')
4 ;
1 row inserted
SQL> SELECT DBMS_XMLQUERY.getXML(
2 'select id,
3 xmltype(''<t>''||text_field||''</t>'') text_field
4 from test_xml where id = 1'
5 ) as result
6 FROM dual;
RESULT
<?xml version = '1.0'?>
<ROWSET>
<ROW num="1">
<ID>1</ID>
<TEXT_FIELD>
<t>This is a <strong>formatted text</strong>.
Another line with <em>emphasized text</em>.</t>
</TEXT_FIELD>
</ROW>
</ROWSET>
SQL> SELECT DBMS_XMLQUERY.getXML(
2 'select id,
3 xmlcdata(text_field) text_field

This is what you're looking for, there's no real cook-book -- though Amey mentioned there might be some material on SDN, perhaps some tutorials.
You should be looking into com.sap.security.api.IUserFactory, methods newUser(String) which gives you and IUserMaint and commitUser(IUserMaint, IUserAccount) -- IUserAccount can be obtained using com.sap.security.api.IUserAccountFactory, method newUserAccount(String)
Hope it helps,

The Portal framework code (including PortalAppflowHelper) uses ejb
references to find the PortalManager (and other EJBs) from servlets and
taglibs; that is what is signified by the java:comp/env/... name.
Since you built your webapp from scratch (instead of using the portal
wizard), you will need to make sure the you have the appropriate
<ejb-ref> entries in your web.xml, and the corresponding
<ejb-reference-description> entries in your weblogic.xml. By default,
you will need at least mappings for:
- ejb/PortalManager
- ejb/UserManager
- ejb/GroupManager
- ejb/PipelineExecutor
- ejb/EventService
See either the resulting webapp from using the portal wizard or
BEA_HOME/weblogic700/samples/portal/sampleportalDomain/beaApps/sampleportal/sampleportal/WEB-INF
for example syntax.

How to set a variable in portal session using web dynpro java.
Hi,
I have created a web dynpro application, which is running inside portal. I have created a role called "R1". Inside role R1, i have created 3 workset W1, W2 and W3. and inside each workset i have some pages and iviews.
My requirement is when user logins to the portal , and when he clicks on role R1 for the first time, a login page should come (so that we can do revalidation), and when he enters his password again in that login page , then only workset W1, W2 and W3 should be visible/accessible to him and after successful revalidation, if he clicks again on role R1, in that particular portal session, than that login page should not come.
for this, i thought i will set a variable in portal session, whenever user successfully revalidated himself, and if after successful revalidation he clicks again on role R1, i will check in doinit method of webdynpro whether variable is set or not (which i already set on successful revalidation), and if it is set then i will do Donavigation else i will present login page to the user.
Can anyone tells me how to set a variable in portal session using web dynpro java.
thanks
ArushHi,
Try this:
WDScopeUtil.put(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE, key, value)
WDScopeUtil.get(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE, key)
Ex:
WDScopeUtil.put(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE,"Key1","Value1");
String value1=WDScopeUtil.get(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE,"Key1").toString();

Problem with HowTo guide - Use the BI Java SDK in a Web Dynpro Application
Hello,
I am following the HowTo guide - Use the BI Java SDK in a Web Dynpro Application
at <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e49be590-0201-0010-0c83-fc20e5da124f">this link</a>.
I have configured the connector on the WAS as needed.
The problem is that when I run the application I receive an Unauthorized error on the connector URL.
If I open this URL on a browser I receive a pop-up for UID and PWD and when I enter the same UID and PWD I used to configure the connector I am able to login and see the WSDL.
Any ideas?I've never tried using BI in WebDynpro !!!
But i foond one posting on the connection problem https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=955524&messageID=2133396

Should I use a separate JAVA instance for ADS
My customer has Enterprise portal and R/3 installed already. Now they want ADS installed. Would it be best to install a new JAVA instance for ADS or should I use the existing JAVA instance that is installed for the portal? I think the customer is preferring to use a separate instance so nothing already installed breaks. Also, if I do use a separate JAVA instance, should I connect to the portal through SLD?
Thanks,
PeggyHello,
Installation of new java instance for ADS (or) using the one available inthe portal java instance depends on the following factors:-
1) How much extra load can the existing java instance handle
2) What is the user case and expected load for ADS in the customer landscape?
3) Whether ADS will be used exclusively for portal ?
Following link may give you a better idea of whether to use ADS within applicaiton portal (or) use standalone ADS

Problem in using 'ReceivedDateTerm' in Java Mail
Hi there,
I have problem in using 'ReceivedDateTerm' in Java Mail. I am able to search on all other criterias but when I try any kind of date search I don't get any message back. For example I send an email and then I try to search that email using the following code I don't get any message back:
ReceivedDateTerm dateTerm = new ReceivedDateTerm(ComparisonTerm.EQ, new Date());
SearchTerm term = dateTerm;
// Other code
// Get messages
Message[] msgs = folder.search(term);
Please help???
Thanks & Regards,
Ajay SinghThe documentation for those classes is absolutely horrible. For example it doesn't say whether the time component of the Date is used, or ignored. It's possible you are asking to find all messages that were received at the exact millisecond you ran that code.

How to use the Public Java API
Is it possible to use the Public Java API to write a custom transformation in Java and use this in OWB. i.e. Say I have a Dateofbirth field in my source database and an Agegroup field in the target database, and I write a transformation in Java to take the Dateofbirth as an input parameter to the method and calculate the Agegroup e.g. 25-30, and return it from this method which then populates the Agegroup field in the target database. If so, how do I go about this?
Martin,
In general, yes you could... but you do not need to. You could use the UI to implement this requirement. The public Java API is there for you to manipulate metadata. How you implement your system, is independent of that.
The way you would go about the case you just mentioned... you would write the Java code, deploy it into the database, wrap it in a PL/SQL procedure or function, and call it from OWB.
Would this be a good idea...? I think no. Unless you have very complicated calculations that can only be performed in Java, I strongly encourage you use the PL/SQL language. Reason being: transformation will be much faster, because there is no need to translate PL/SQL into Java and back again.
Hope this helps,

Simple XML to Text onversion using XSLT and Java?
Hi all!
I'm completly new to using XSLT and Java and are trying to convert a XML file into a ordinary Textfile that I am gonna import into another application.
I started up writing a ordinary XML parser in Java which interpreted the XML file, but realized later on that it was possible to do with a ordinary XSLT.
So far it is a 2-step process right now, I've tied my XSLT to the XML file and then just open the XML file up in a ordinary browser and then get the result.
I found an example (http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/excerpt/java_xslt_ch5/index.html?page=3) where u hook up a XML file and a XSL file separately and the process it, and dump it to Stdout. But do I need to hook up a XSL file like this when the XML file is tied to a XSL file internally?Just to give you an example to show you how easy it is: http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread137587.html

How to start to work on MDM JAVA API by using webdynpro for java
Hi all
I have basic idea on MDM business package thru portal by using standard iViews.
now i am planning to work on MDM JAVA APIs by using Webdynpro for Java as UI.
1) can you please share the required documents on the same. how to start working on this by using MDM JAVA APIs in webdynpro for java
2) what are the JARs files are required and how to integrate those jar files into webdynpro for java application.
3) is there any SDN help on MDM JAVA API with webdynpro for java? . can you please send the link on the same.
4) can you please help by providing sample code on how to use JAVA APIs for retrieving,deleting,inserting and Updating the data in the database.
if anybody helps on the same then it is the great help to me.
points are always rewardable...
Regards
Suresh babuHi Suresh,
You can have the MDM JAVA API javadocs from the link
http://help.sap.com/javadocs/MDM/SP06P2/index.html
There you can see a package named com.sap.mdm.examples.The classes in it contains some examples using which you can start understanding the code.
You need to have MDM JAR files for it. And these JAR files to be used at build time can be added to the project thru :-
Right click on project-> properties->Java Build Path - > Add external JARs
At run time you can add them the reference in
Right click on project-> properties->web dynpro references->library reference.
Thanks
