Using XML to generate 3-d???  Help is needed.

if anyone can help I will be very grateful.
Is it possible to use an xml document to build a graphic, however, I don't mean a graph.
for an example if I had an xml doc that specified x,y and z points for a number of (for arguments sake) spheres, I would like to be able to plot these co-ordinates when the xml is loaded.
I have looked into this a little with the xml object in macromedia flash but don't thing the plug-in can handle it. I am new to Java so please be gentle..
cheers
David

It is possible to use an xml document to build a
graphic. The web3d.org is working on that project.
As VRML Viewer can view and edit vrml 3D file, a well-designed Java3Dviewer can visualize the scene defined in a XML file.
The plug-in allows programs to run inside web browser, if you design a Java program to view 3D data defined in a XML file, users can run this program in their desktop with Java plug-in.
So research Java3d API and do it.

  • Using XML to generate site structure

    Well. I'll describe my problem in brief.
    I want to generate XML in my servlets and then perform XSL-transformation. This allows me to separate data from the representation. For example:
    <menu>
      <item name="Home">http://nome.com</item>
    </menu>and then I'll create a stylesheet that will generate proper left column with beautiful menu. The idea seems to be beautiful and probably is not a new one. I don't know if there some similar solutions. I'm interesting in a XML-dictionary and XSL stylesheets. Of course, I can make my own dictionary and stylesheet, but may be there are some powerful examples?

  • Generic Populating the XML document using Java Class Generator and Reflection

    I am looking for a generic source code in order to convert the data parsed from any tabular text form ( tab delimited for example that maps certain XML Schema created form Database Schema for Oracle.
    I know it is possible to generate XML DTD or XSD from Oracle database table schema by XSU utility from XDK. And also it is possible to create Java source files from an XML DTD or XSD by using XML Clas Generator.
    I believe there must be some generic code that parses tabular text data and converts them to XML format using above mentioned generated Java source files and may be Java reflection mechanism.
    If anyone has any tool or knows any free ware that helps me, I would like to know about it, and I would really appreciate it.

    1. Read the XML file into a DMO object, walk the DOM to find the list, insert your new entry as a child, write the DOM back to a file.
    2. If the XML is not in a file, but in a string, then you can do the same with string input and output.

    There are many good resources for Powershell tutorials. The MS help page for each cmdlet is usually a good place to start.
    The suggested answer is very good and easy to modify to your needs. The linked article provides good detail on creating your csv file. If you look at their sample csv, you will see the column for LicenseAgreement and UsageLocation. You can change the script
    to use the values from the csv instead of the same value for every user like so:
    -LicenseAssignment $_.LicenseAgreement -UsageLocation $_UsageLocation
    Basically, $_.<valuename> is the filled in by the value under the heading <valuename> in your csv file for the current user.
    As for what msdivision, replace this with the correct domain name value for your organization. You can get the values for license SKUs from existing users by using the following:
    Connect-MsolService
    Get-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName <userprincipalname> |select Licenses

  • Using XML Components to generate WML Output

    Hello
    Is there a way to configure the XSL stylesheet in a Portal XML Component so that if the compoment is being called from the Portal Page it shows HTML Output and if it's being called by a WAP Phone it generates WML?

    For the purpose you mentioned, you shouldn't use XML component. Rather you should user mobile XML portlet. Basically, if you want to display content in WAP phones, you can use mobileXML portlet available under portal tools in Portlet repository. The XML content which you provide in mobile xml portlet, needs to follow the iAS wireless edition DTD. Then you can put this portlet on a page. Now if the page is accessed from HTML browser, it will transform this content and if it is accessed from WAP phone, it will convert the XML content to WML.
    Hoep it helps.

  • PLEASE HELP!!! using servlet to generate an image in jsp page

    Hi,
    I am so stuck on this... please help.
    I have a servlet that generated a gif image dynamically. It uses a bean that stores the gif image in a byte array.
    The servlet outputs the byte data to the output stream. The code is really simple and looks like this:
    protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException {
            //HttpSession session = request.getSession();
            try {
                ServletOutputStream stream = response.getOutputStream();
                ImageByteInformation imageByteInfo = (ImageByteInformation) request.getAttribute("imageByteInformation");
                response.setContentType("image/gif");
                response.setContentLength(imageByteInfo.getByteData().length);
                stream.write(imageByteInfo.getByteData(), 0, imageByteInfo.getByteData().length);
                stream.flush();
            }catch( Exception e){
                System.out.println("You are hooped!: " + e.getMessage() + " " + e.toString());
            }When I redirect from the dispatch servlet straight to this servlet an image shows up in the browser window.

    OK... so you WERE absolutely right about the src path for the image tag.
    However I also had another problem that was quite a bit more insidious and mostly just a symptom
    of how little I know about what goes on under the hood of a web app.
    My bean storing the image info was stored as a request attribute. When the servlet was called from the
    jsp page the request object was either reset or just never initialized. Anyway it is not the same request
    object I assumed it was being passed in the doGet method. I added my bean as a session
    attribute and everything is sparkly :)
    I can only assume that when a request is neither forwarded nor included (as is the case with
    calling the servlet from the img tag) it is disappeared.
    Anyway, thanks a mint man. I so totally appreciate your time.
    Ciao :)

  • Help with Photo Gallery using XML file

    I am creating a photo gallery using Spry.  I used the Photo Gallery Demo (Photo Gallery Version 2) on the labs.adobe.com website.  I was successful in creating my site, and having the layout I want.  However I would like to display a caption with each photo that is in the large view.
    As this example uses XML, I updated my file to look like this:
    <photos id="images">
                <photo path="aff2010_01.jpg" width="263" height="350" thumbpath="aff2010_01.jpg" thumbwidth="56"

                   thumbheight="56" pcaption="CaptionHere03"></photo>
    </photos>
    The images when read into the main file (index.asp) show the images in the thumbnail area and display the correct image in the picture pain.  Since I added the pcaption field to the XML file, how do I get it to display?  The code in my index.html file looks like this:

  • Generating multi-level XML in Oracle 8i using XML-SQL utility

    Oracle 8i has a limitation when it comes to the object types. Only one-level nesting of collection is allowed. Oracle 9i apparently removes this limitation.
    I am trying to generate XML for a hierarchical (conceptually) structure. To do that I am using XML-SQL utility (XSU) running agains an object view build on top of the relational data. The problem is the limit to onelevels of colelction nesting. Oracle 8i gives you a way to create a view with more levels of nesting by using references (REF). The problem is that when XSU runs agains a view with the references, it inserts the references into the XML document (instead of dereferencing them).
    Is there a way to generate XML with Oracle 8i with more than two levels of collection nesting?
    Thank you.

  • Need help with image slide show using xml

    I have a flash document that pulls up images using xml but I
    would like for the images to also link to different urls and to be
    able to change these links in the XML document. I have included my
    code
    Also my xml file looks simular to this
    <images>
    <pic>
    <image>images/1.jpg</image>
    </pic>
    <images>
    Please if anyone can help me that would be great. Once again
    I would like for these images to be able to link to a url and to
    read the url in my XML document.

    Here's my quick suggestion:
    Add a <link> child element to your <pic> elements
    - each <link> would be a sibling of each <image>, like
    this:
    <pic>
    <image>filename.jpg</image>
    <link>
    http://www.example.com</link>
    </pic>
    Then, in your loadXML function, add this:
    link = []
    for(...){
    link
    = xmlNode.childNodes.childNode[2].firstChild.nodeValue
    Finally, in each function where you call picture.loadMovie(),
    add a line below it:
    picture.onRelease = function(){
    getURL(link

  • Help: Using XML to format Java output

    I built an application that uses an SQL DB (uses HSQLDB). Users are prompted to enter data via the keyboard to store in the tables.
    The users must be able to query the database as well, to see what is in the tables.
    My aim is to use XML to show the results of the query, so that it is formatted nicely.
    However, I am new to this and not sure how to start putting in the XML tags etc. I think I know which part of the code to modify. This is the part that does the displaying.
          * Ouptut the contents of a recordset to the console with

              String coln            = meta.getColumnName(1);

                     for (i = 0; i < colmax; ++i) {
                    o = rs.getObject(i + 1);// Is SQL the first column is indexed
              coln = meta.getColumnName(i+1);
                                                // with 1 not 0
              System.out.println(coln +":"+'\t'+ o.toString() + " ");
                System.out.println(" ");
    }Can anyone give me any guidance or just a hint for me to start?
    Thank you very much.

    Using DOM would probably be the easiest solution, though not fast enough for your problem, as many records might come out of the RS...
    So if performance is an issue, try producing XML with SAX (read the excellent Dr.Clap tips here: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=34&thread=326617)
    Else use DOM: chapter 7 here: http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.1/tutorial/doc/index.html
