Using XSL to remove redundant data

I am trying to produce an XML document from information on our 9i database. Using XDK I am able to produce the following XML document very easily:
<ROWSET>
<ROW num="1">
<CUSTOMER_ID>1</CUSTOMER_ID>
<CUSTOMER_NAME>Cust 1</CUSTOMER_NAME>
<ORDER_NO>1</ORDER_NO>
<ORDER_DESC>The first customer's first order</ORDER_DESC>
</ROW>
<ROW num="2">
<CUSTOMER_ID>1</CUSTOMER_ID>
<CUSTOMER_NAME>Cust 1</CUSTOMER_NAME>
<ORDER_NO>2</ORDER_NO>
<ORDER_DESC>The first customer's second order</ORDER_DESC>
</ROW>
<ROW num="3">
<CUSTOMER_ID>2</CUSTOMER_ID>
<CUSTOMER_NAME>Cust 2</CUSTOMER_NAME>
<ORDER_NO>3</ORDER_NO>
<ORDER_DESC>The first customer's third order</ORDER_DESC>
</ROW>
<ROW num="4">
<CUSTOMER_ID>2</CUSTOMER_ID>
<CUSTOMER_NAME>Cust 2</CUSTOMER_NAME>
<ORDER_NO>4</ORDER_NO>
<ORDER_DESC>The second customer's first order</ORDER_DESC>
</ROW>
<ROW num="5">
<CUSTOMER_ID>2</CUSTOMER_ID>
<CUSTOMER_NAME>Cust 2</CUSTOMER_NAME>
<ORDER_NO>5</ORDER_NO>
<ORDER_DESC>The second customer's second order</ORDER_DESC>
</ROW>
<ROW num="6">
<CUSTOMER_ID>3</CUSTOMER_ID>
<CUSTOMER_NAME>Cust 3</CUSTOMER_NAME>
<ORDER_NO>6</ORDER_NO>
<ORDER_DESC>The third customer's only order</ORDER_DESC>
</ROW>
</ROWSET>I would like to convert it into the following format:
<CUSTOMER>

<ORDERS>
<ORDER>
<NO>1</NO>
<DESC>The first customer's first order</DESC>
</ORDER>
<ORDER>
<NO>2</NO>
<DESC>The first customer's second order</DESC>
</ORDER>
</ORDERS>
</CUSTOMER>I presume XSL can do this, but I'm not sure where to start. Could anyone confirm if this is possible, and if so point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance,
Paul.

Yes, an XSLT can do this. There are a number of free XSL tutorials on the web you can look at to get the basic ideas; when you're ready, I know of no better reference than O'Reilly's XSLT.
XSL, IIRC, is Turing-complete, so there's very little it can't do. But if you're accustomed to procedural scripting you'll have to rewire a bit of your brain, because it is not procedural. Good luck and have fun!

• Using REGEXP_REPLACE to remove XML data from between XML tags

Hello there,
I am trying to use the REGEXP_REPLACE SQL function on a piece of XML, to remove the actual XML data from the elements. My end goal is to end up with a comma-delimited list of XML element names. As part of the first step, I just want to rip out all the actual data.
I tested the following query, and it initially appeared to work:
SELECT REGEXP_REPLACE('>THIS IS A TEST<',
'>([[:alnum:]]\s|\S)*<',
'><' ) AS test_result
FROM dual;Unfortunately, when I applied this to a full XML string, it didn't work. Here is the test query I used:
SELECT REGEXP_REPLACE('<ROW><TEST_ELEMENT1>123</TEST_ELEMENT1><TEST_ELEMENT2>THIS IS A TEST!</TEST_ELEMENT2></ROW>',
'>([[:alnum:]]\s|\S)*<',
'><') AS test_result
FROM dual;I ended up with the following output:
*<ROW></ROW>*
What I was trying for was:
*<ROW><TEST_ELEMENT1></TEST_ELEMENT1><TEST_ELEMENT2></TEST_ELEMENT2></ROW>*
If you're reading this and you're a Posix RegExp Guru, please could you let me know exactly where I'm going wrong? RegExps are not my strong point, but I'd like to get better at them.

• How would you launch an applet using xsl and some xml data?

Is is possible?

Thanks for your input but I got it working with the correct CDATA syntax. The concept is to launch a database driven system using xml instead, so the applet piece is completely modular and can be added to any other application that can call a url. No databases need to be created. Its not crazy if the amount of info int he database is managebable.

• Removal of data from 1 table after comparing with other table

Hi,
I have 2 table. Both have same primary key i.e. WO_ID. 1st table wrk_ord have no redundant data and the 2nd table wo_audit have few redundant data. Both table are related with WO_ID. Now I want to remove the redundant data from table wo_audit so that the uniq WO would be same in both the table. both the table are very huge. WO_ID table have 31million of record. I ran query
delete from wo_audit where wo_id not in (select wo_id from wrk_ord);
this query throw an error ora-01555. I just want to know the how can optimize this query.
Thanks.

Hi,
delete from wo_audit where wo_id not in (select wo_id from wrk_ord);AFAIk, you not removing redundant data, but you are removing the data which does not exists in wrk_ord. Try to check things from business perspective.

• Need to build communication redundancy using serial RS-232 for Data Transfer b/w Host and RT irrespective of TCP/IP Data Transfer

Hi - I would like to build the logic in which it should accomodate the communication redundancy using serial RS-232 for Data Transfer b/w Host and RT irrespective of TCP/IP Data Transfer.
I want to do data transfer b/w host and RT through RS232 VISA portal whenever TCP/IP ethernet cable has been unplugged from the controller continuosly , it should keep on checking for TCP/IP link re-establishing also , when ever the tcp/ip link established again that time the communication should be using in that link only. This is accomplished by deploying the RT vi as execuatbale file. I made some logic regards to the above said logic , bur it was not working as much I expected.
I request you to go through the attached two VI's and let me know , what I did wrong in that,
Please do the needful.

• Variable indent based on xml data using xsl-fo start-indent

I am trying to make a report of a peoplesoft tree which includes xml data to indicate the level of the tree.
I have a template which sort-of works but has some strange behavior. First I set a variable to the value of the treelevel, and multiply by ten to set the value for the indent that I want. I then apply that value for the indent to the start-indent attribute
<?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX, 'x', (fld_TREE_LEVEL_NUM)*10)?>
<xsl:attribute name="start-indent" xdofo:ctx="table-cell"><?xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX, 'x')?></xsl:attribute>
These tags are put in a table row which repeats within a for-each group along with the data to get indented.
The problem is that the indenting seems to work but not consistently and some rows which clearly have different indent levels are printing as if they are at the same level.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi! Use xsl:variable:
<xsl:variable name="var"><?fld_TREE_LEVEL_NUM*10?></xsl:variable>
<xsl:attribute name="start-indent" xdofo:ctx="table-cell"><xsl:value-of select="$var" /></xsl:attribute>

i have lost my iphone i dont have iemi number but i used icloud id on that as there any way to locate my phone and if not located the plz tell my the way i remove my data from it. thanks

Go to icloud.com. Log in with your Apple ID & Password. Go to the Find My iPhone section. Perform a remote wipe of the device.
You don't have to have downloaded any app. You only have to have enabled the Find My iPhone option under Settings > iCloud. If you did not do that, then you cannot remotely access the device.
If that's the case, then change ALL of your account passwords; email, banking, etc. All of them. And then monitor those accounts very closely!

1. The client want to see this report in Groups i.e

Group Name: Purchasing

Purchasing Workbook 1

Purchasing Workbook 2

Manufacturing Workbook 1

Manufacturing Workbook 2

Group Name: CEO

CEO Workbook 1

CEO Workbook 2

How can I achieve this grouping using XSL ? Has anybody tried customizing the XSL file to achieve grouping of workbooks by name?
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Friends..
This is not the reply.
I have also some question..
Some related topic I found on this.
That's why I am posting the same question here also..
Dear friends..
I need help to customize our discoverer viewer.
We are creating work sheets in arial font size 8.
But, when it's viewing through discoverer viewer it's coming big size.
If we saw the source code by right click, it's taking some style sheets where
the font size is mentioned as 8. not 8px.
How I can modify the work sheets in viewer.
Exactly which tag I should modify for this.
And the other thing is the heading section is coming something as
jung.
Like this...

How we will correct this ?
Please reply me as the earliest.

• Can't i use xml schema and oledb data connection at the same time?

Hello to all and thanks in advance.I use xml schema and oledb data connection at the same time and the problem is that when I try to export the xml, the outcome is not what i expect.Without the oledb connection everything is ok (just the schema) and the xml complies with the schema.
Can't i have both schema and oledb and the exported xml be as i want it?

You can use both at the same time, but not gor Internet access if that's what you're asking.
Now there is a thing called Link Aggregation, which combines a number of interfaces for speed/redundancy, but it really only works locally, and then only with ALL special equipment in the route, and most likely OSX Server involved.
Sorry.

Has anybody else seen this problem? Is there a fix?
I wanted to download the demo of acrobat XI but it says the previous version will be removed and deactivate the license. That sucks!

Yes it is up to date.
I can use the stamp tool and flatten it after with no problems, but the typewriter tool crashes it upon attempting to flatten.

want to embed some html code also in the data node.But when I get the html it simply writes as it is.That statement contradicts:
In real application i will be getting data containg html tags.I want the parser to read that data as simple text. Both cannot be true. You either want the HTML to not be parsed or you want the transformer to deal with it. Which one?

Your PL/SQL code doesn't produce a valid XML document.
In the XML grammar, "&" is a special character and must be escaped using the character entity "&".
If you were using standard methods to build XML from Oracle (SQL/XML functions for instance), I'm sure you wouldn't have this error.
Please show us the PL/SQL code you're using to produce this XML output and we'll be able to help you further.
