UWC several webmail.host

Hello.
I was not able to figure out if this is the correct place to post this. It's regarding the product previously known as Sun Unified Web Client (UWC).
Previous scenario:
Every single user had the same mailHost LDAP attribute: mail.domain.com
Webmail sent mail without problem.
Current scenario:
Some users have a new mailHost LDAP attribute: nwemail.domain.com
When we try to send mail to one of those users an error is displayed:
"SMTP Error: 5.1.2 unknown host or domain: [email protected]
The message was not sent."
I have seen that mail.domain.com (old mailHost) is stablished in uwcconfig.properties:
webmail.host = mail.domain.com
I guess this is the point, am I right? Is it possible to set several webmail.host values?
Thank you very much.

There are a couple layers to this which you should consider.
The setting in UWC -- moreover, the mshttpd process which UWC works with -- specifies the MTA to which the web client will submit the mail. That is not necessarily related to the address the mail is being sent to or the mailHost of either the recipient or the sender.
That MTA then must route the mail appropriate.
So this would appear to be an error coming back from that MTA. But the "The message was not sent." part of the message does not look like something the Messaging Server would include in that message. So I wonder if you have mshttpd configured to submit the mail to a Messaging Server MTA or something else?
Or perhaps I do not understand the context of the error message. Is that a pop-up you receive immediately after clicking Send? Or is that in the body of a non-delivery notice message you receive in your Inbox after sending the message??
If the message is from a non-delivery notice, then you need to look at the details of that message. It should show what MTA reported the error. You need to investigate on that system.
If mshttpd is configured to submit the mail to a Messaging Server MTA and the error is a pop-up when you click Send, I would say to log on to that system and do:
   imsimta test -rewrite -debug <problem-address>where "<problem-address>" would be replaced by the email address which generates the error.
This output will be rather long. You need to find the section which starts with:
*** Debug output from submitting an envelope address:and from there work thru what it was doing and where the error came from. It could be a problem in rewrite rules. What should happen is it should find the user in LDAP and then realize it is a different backend system and rewrite the address to a source-routed address to send it to the backend specified by the mailHost attribute.
You may want to open a support case rather than pasting hundreds of lines of that output into the forum here.

  • Apache as Reverse Proxy for UWC and Webmail

    Hi,
    for several reasons i want to use apache 2 as reverse proxy and ssl accelerator for UWC.
    internet <-> apache/ssl <-> backend port 80
    I configured my apache with mod_proxy and mod_proxy_html.
    Here are the concerning config lines:
    LoadModule headers_module modules/mod_headers.so
    LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so
    LoadModule proxy_connect_module modules/mod_proxy_connect.so
    LoadModule proxy_ftp_module modules/mod_proxy_ftp.so
    LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so
    LoadFile    /usr/lib/libxml2.so
    LoadModule  proxy_html_module    modules/mod_proxy_html.so
    ProxyPass / http://backend.domain.com/
    ProxyPassReverse / http://backend.domain.com/
    <Location />
            ProxyPassReverse /
            SetOutputFilter proxy-html
            ProxyHTMLURLMap / /
            ProxyHTMLURLMap http://backend.domain.com:80/ http://webplex.domain.com/
            ProxyHTMLExtended On
            RequestHeader unset Accept-Encoding
    </Location>For Webmail this configuration works most of the time. There are some minor problems in ie with the folder view. But the real problem is: I can't get UWC to work. The problem seems to be that mod_proxy_html can't replace all of the occurences of backend.domain.com in the html pages.
    Especially:
    onsubmit="handleSubmit()" action="http://webplex.domain.com/amserver/UI/Login?goto=http://backend.domain.com:80/uwc/&gotoOnFail=http://backend.domain.com:80/uwc/?err=1&module=LDAP" method="POST">in the uwc login page.
    So my question is:
    Is anybody out there who got apache working as reverse proxy for uwc?
    Thanks a lot.
    PS1:Solaris 10 on V20z, JES2005Q4
    PS2: I already configured UWC with the reverse plugin for sun webserver on backend host so that uwc is working through port 80 only. So there should be no problems arise from that.

    Hopefully, you'll hear from somebody. I have zero knowledge or experience with Apache.

  • Several image-hosting sites won't load correctly - what is going on?

    slow dial-up, photobucket pages won't load correctly - tested other hosting sites, same problem - they look like they timed out or got disconnected mid-load. Problem started several months ago - prior to that PB loaded slow, but always worked.
    also have some trouble veiwing imgur images posted on discussion forums.
    have not noticed any other websites giving trouble, but I don't surf around much. have done all kinds of things as directed by PB help people, advice here on Firefox, all updates are complete, no extensions or add-ons, scanned, cleared, refreshed, etc etc etc. security is malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials.
    Problem also happens in IE, so what else can I do? is it just my slow connection? why did it suddenly start happening? connection speed (crawl) is the same as always. help! thank you!

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Having Several LDAP Hosts in the CMC

    Hi all,
    does anyone know how it is supposed to work when in the LDAP authentication are defined more than one LDAP hosts?
    If one the hosts stops working... will the next one available be selected so that the login can keep on working?
    Otherwise, anyone knows what is this useful for?
    Thanks a lot

    Due to the way our CMS maintains connections to LDAP when you enter multiple LDAP hosts the failover can be around 2 minutes. Try testing each LDAP host directly to verify they all work. Backup the CMS DB before making changes as an incorrect LDAP host could lead to lost groups/users
    Other customers have used different solutions like a DNS redirect or LDAP load balancer for faster cut-over times.

  • When accessing my webmail hosted by Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access software the list of Inbox emails is not complete when viewed with Firefox but it is when viewed with IE.....any suggestions why?

  • How do I config gmail hosted webmail while using iweb?

    I had my site hosted at .mac but that crashed when I changed the mx records on 1and1.com to enable my webmail hosted by gmail. It erased the cname record and if I put the cname back in the webmail will go down...
    What do I do?
    Is there name server info for .mac I could input?
    Do I need to fwd (or ftp) the site somewhere that 1and1 will host it?
    or does .mac have somewhere that I could input the mx records for gmail?
    ideas....
    thanks

    if I put the cname back in the webmail will go down...
    I don't think this should happen if you point only the www CNAME at web.mac.com, which is what you are supposed to do. See this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1288484&tstart=0
    Is there name server info for .mac I could input?
    No.
    Do I need to fwd (or ftp) the site somewhere that 1and1 will host it?
    You can certainly host your site elsewhere if you want. Here are some tips:

    No.

  • UWC - Invalid URL after a session timeout

    Using Communications Express 6.3 (122793-12), when a user's session times out their browers is redirected to:
    http://my.server.com/base/UWCMain?op=logout
    which generates a 404 File Not Found error. I believe the URL needs to be:
    http://my.server.com/uwc/base/UWCMain?op=logout
    Where can I set this?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Having a similar issue to the original poster, but not quite the same.
    We've just upgraded to Messaging Server 6.3, with pretty much the latest
    patch sets installed for the various components.
    # imsimta version
    Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-6.03 (built Mar 14 2008; 64bit)
    libimta.so 6.3-6.03 (built 17:30:55, Mar 14 2008; 64bit)
    Using Messaging SSO with the following configutil params,
    local.webmail.sso.enable = 0
    local.webmail.sso.singlesignoff = 1
    local.webmail.sso.uwccontexturi = uwc
    local.webmail.sso.uwcenabled = 1
    local.webmail.sso.uwclogouturl = http://webmail.wright.edu/uwc/base/UWCMain?op=logout
    CommExpress is installed on a separate server (Solaris9/Sparc). In our case thought when
    a session times out, the URL that's presented is
    https://base/UWCMain?op=logout
    Note that I have ssl enabled for CommExpress. I initially I had the uwclogouturl set to use
    https which resulted in the same url above which is missing the host information and leading
    url path. I had just changed it this morning to see if the behavior would change with straight
    http with no difference.
    CommExpress is running under Sun Java System Web Server 7.0U3 B06/16/2008. I have a
    similar setup in test with CommExpress running on the same server as the MTA and it works
    ok there, just not in production on a separate server.
    As things stand right now, once a session times out, a user has to shutdown their browser
    to start a new CommExpress session.
    I just put a call in to Sun, but wondering if anyone has run into this before?
    Thanks.
    Update: after talking with support, just realized I'm 2-3 revs behind on the latest UWC patch
    (122793). Not sure how I missed this one. Looks like bug-id 6598975 patched in 122793-18 may
    fix this one.

  • Can't login to WebMail

    I have several websites hosted on a single Xserve, only one has the WebMail option enabled. I've been able to use WebMail in the past, but now I can't login. Each time that I try I get the message "Unknown user or password incorrect". Even if I create a new account I get the same message on the new account.
    If I run the SquirrelMail configuration test everything seems to be OK.
    There's nothing untoward in the httpd log files or the systen.log.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi, thanks for the tip I think that's the problem. I can't see anything in the log files but I did recently enable CRAM-MD5 authentication and disabled all other methods.
    Did you change authentication methods for IMAP?
    If yes, you must reconfigure SquirrelMail as well.
    The log to check would be /var/log/mailaccess.log and
    /var/log/mail.log

  • Use require group in virtual host

    Hi,
    I have set up several virtual hosts in my middle tier, and configured them as partner applications so that OID/SSO can be used for authentication. It works fine, but the only supported method I can see is 'require valid-user' which allows any user in OID access to all virtual hosts. Does anyone know of a way around this using OID (not mod_auth). We want to allow users within a group access to individual virtual hosts.
    Thanks,
    Karen

    Hi there,
    I just wanted to clarify my question, has anyone been able to use group authentication using OID to restrict access to websites hosted using AS10g? My website is just plain html, but maybe someone has done something similar by adding a java wrapper to perform the authentication (that seems like overkill to me but maybe there is a more elegant workaround)?
    Thanks,
    Karen

  • Having a hard time selecting an iWeb website host

    Now that MobileMe is gone and my website is down (yes, i missed the memo)... im researching hosts and having a hard time choosing.
    I would like unlimited storage as I have a lot of photos on my site.
    RAGE sounds good but seems pricey.
    I'm looking for a company familiar w/iWeb so that if there are any issues I have some assistance.
    I have searched the community and googled and keep getting just a few answers.  Nothing that really gives me a solid sense about the companies.  And it seems that RAGE does a lot of self promotion posing as customer which seems a bit sketchy.  I might be completely wrong but thats the sense Im getting from the videos and results I'm finding.
    Is there a site that gives solid reviews of the web hosting companies?
    Where have people here moved their iWeb website to?
    Thanks

    I have been using IX Webhosting for about 4 years with little to no problems "usually the problem was something I did" and they have been quick to solve any issue I have come across.
    As far as the unlimited is concerned they just do not set any pre-determined space or bandwidth.
    I have several websites hosted on my hosting plan ( I am currently using the expert plan ) and haven't ran into any space issues here is my bandwidth (traffic) & disk space usage.

  • Hyper-V Host Agent Problems

    Hi,  I upgraded our VMM 2008 R2 SP1 environment to VMM 2012 SP1 RU2 last month which includes a couple of clusters and several standalone hosts.
    Since then the VMM agent on the hosts is crashing regularly, every 1-3 hours for some hosts.
    I've attached a log from event viewer showing the vmmagent.exe crashing below.
    The Hyper-V hosts are all WS2008 R2 SP1.
    VMM Server is WS2012
    VMM is 2012 SP1 RU2
    I've looked at the Hyper-V hosts and VMM server app and system event logs and there is nothing in there of significance.
    One thing that seems consistent is the more load the Hyper-V server is under the most frequently the VMMAGENT will crash.
    To help alleviate this issue I have set the vmmagent service to always restart after crashing although this doesn;t help when trying to P2V etc as the job fails when the host agent crashes.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682077.aspx#BKMK_SupConfigVirtualization
    Configuration Manager supports installing the client and site system roles on supported operating systems that run as a virtual machine in the  following virtualization environments.
    This support exists even when the virtual machine host (virtualization environment) is not supported as a client or site server. For example, if you use Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 to host a virtual machine that runs Windows Server 2012, you can install
    the client or site system roles on the virtual machine (Windows Server 2012), but not on the host, (Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012).

  • Corrupted wiki list with multiple virtual host

    Hello,
    I have several virtual hosts and I want each of them to only list of wikis which are associated with them using the Wiki Admin Settings -> Advanced : Specific Host Names.
    This does not seem to work. As soon as a wiki is associated to a specific virtual host it disappears from the list of wiki (http://hostname/groups/) (on all virtual hosts actually). The wiki itself can still be accessed by its explicit address: http:/hostname/groups/wikiname
    If I manually edit the sql3 file directoryIndex.db in /Library/Application Support/Apple/WikiServer
    and replace the specific host name by "*", the wiki reappears in the wiki list but on ALL virtual host. Still it remains accessible only in the one designated in the wiki Settings.
    Most frustrating. Any workaround ? Seems like a bug but the wiki implementation being so convoluted I am not completely sure.
    Any help ?
    Thanks

  • How to get virtual hosts to have their own default webapps?

    Is there a way to have several virtual hosts to have their own default
    webapps?
    I have five virtual hosts on my server, and I used to be able to deploy the
    webapps to the server, target a server and a virtual host, and then the
    default app to use. But I can't see that anymore in wls8.1. I looked
    around the web for some help, and all I could find was some reference to the
    <context-root> node. The problem with that solution is, when I put that in
    each of the webapps for the virtual hosts, only one gets the "/"
    context-root, and the rest can't use that.
    I would like to be able to have users just type out the virtual hosts URL to
    get access to the webapp. Surely a server as powerful as WebLogic can do
    that. I used to be able to do this in 7.0sp1. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Unfortunately you cannot split (nor merge) items purchased with an AppleID.  I am not clear on what you will have to do to allow them continued access to their music on your account.  Apple no longer has DRM protection in its music but then I also hear people have all kinds of authorization issues when trying to synch so it sounds like they still keep restrictions on what you can do with the music when trying to move it about.  I'll let somebody more experienced with syncing answer this part.  You may have to authorize their computers and devices to your AppleID to allow them all functionality with the music.
    Ideally you would have set them up with their own AppleIDs years ago but...
    Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 - only works for new accounts!

  • Virtual hosts and rewrite rule

    I've got Oracle portal with several virtual hosts setup.
    <VirtualHost *:7778>

    This doesn't match any of the pages I have in the two pagegrooups - "HostA" and "HostB".
    If I try RewriteRule ^/(..*)$ /portal/page/portal/pdg/hostb/$1 [PT,L], then Portal reports back about there being a problem and promptly dies.
    How do I allow http://hosta/ being a different hpome page to http://hostb/ and allow any pages to be referenced without Portal crashing ??? I dont want to add a new rewrite page for avery page my developers add in....
    Thanks

    You cannot use your virtual hostnames as a page or procedure name. Instead, please try this:
    <VirtualHost *:8001>
    ServerName hosta.yourdomain.com
    # Redirect if on desired VirtualHost:
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^hosta\.yourdomain\.com \[NC,OR\]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourdomain\.com \[NC\]
    RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://hosta.yourdomain.com/portal/page/portal/ \[R\]
    </VirtualHost>
    <VirtualHost *:8001>
    ServerName hostb.yourdomain.com
    # Redirect if on desired VirtualHost:
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^hosta\.yourdomain\.com \[NC,OR\]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourdomain\.com \[NC\]
    RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://hostb.yourdomain.com/portal/page/portal/ \[R\]
    </VirtualHost>
    hope that helps!

  • Defining Virtual Hosts so the Server App does not hijack them?

    Does anyone know how one might define manually define virtualhosts in Lion Server so the OS does not go and trash them, or mess with the conf files? Right now the server keeps stealing any virtual hosts I create manually and creating conf files to the standard of the Server App. The problem is I have several virtual hosts that have custom information in them and I need to restore the file whenever this happens. Any ideas?

    Put all your config files in something unknown to Apple. I like to use 'vhosts' instead of 'sites'.
    Then just add this to your httpd.conf...
    Include /private/etc/apache2/vhosts/*.conf
    I would keep a copy of your httpd.conf at all times. Apple likes to wipe that out on system updates.
