Validate date (appointment) values in CRMD_ORDER

Hi All,
How can I validate the date (appointment) value entered on screen in CRMD_ORDER?
I need to perform some checkings on the date value entered, at the same time, issue an error at the bottom of screen should it fails.
This checking is done as soon as an update is made - not during Save

The date picker does not always "store" the value for you - you create it with a particular format such as DD-MON-YY and then like any character to date field you need to be careful to use a format mask and to_date. Alternatively, change the format to DD-MON-YYYY.
Are you using this in a query or defined as a page item? Do you have the app on the APEX site?

   In my ABAP code I want to validate if "receipt_date" value is in the format YYYYMMDDTHHMMSS.MMMZ. If not then display error message. How can do this validation? Is there any existing function module that does this kind of validation? Please help!

Can you check whether the FM CACS_TIMESTAMP_GET_DATE is available in XApps? If yes, use this to identify a valid timestamp.
Sample code:
    CALL FUNCTION 'CACS_TIMESTAMP_GET_DATE'
      EXPORTING
        i_timestamp = lv_stamp
      IMPORTING
        e_date      = lv_datum
        e_time      = lv_time.

Validate Date Range in inputDate component

Hi
I am using JDev 11.1.1.2.0
I have an inputDate component which on click i need to give dates from today to future dates not passed dates.
So i have included 'validate date time range' component in the inputDate component and in the minimum property i have declared 'adf.currentDate' using expression builder and set the maximum as Jan 31,2099.
But when i execute my application i am able to select passed dates using the inputDate component, please help how can i check the date using a validator in inputDate component.

i have declared minValue as adf.currentDate and on that it changes the value of maxValue to current date in Jan 3,2012
i have convertDatetime component in my inputDate to display the selected date in certain format.
It gives error as the format doesnot matches with the convertDatetime and inputDate component.
How can i use the minValue and maxValue of inputDate component?

If you use the "util.scand" method date validation is part of the process. It either returns the number of milliseconds from the Epoch date used by JavaScript for the date time object the null value.
Date Arithmetic has some sample scripts, but you need to keep in mind that Date and Time are not independent and using "new Date()" returns the date and time at the time that line of code is executed and that can cause issues for the computing of dates only.
Are you sure of day count, most differences include the start and end dates in the number of days for the calculation.

[BPC 7.5] or [BPC 10] Validate data from different periods

Hi,
is it possible to use the standard validation business rule to validate data in different periods? I need a rule that validates the total in my flow dimension from last year end to the value in the opening flow in the current period. Is that possible?

Hi Arnold,
I do not think this is possible. You can only compare accounts and flows in the detailed rules. In the Header rules you can specify specific dimensions and time periods.
You can maybe use script logic to write data to the current month into a validation test account from the last year into the current period and then run the validation rules.

Validate field with value range

I need to validate a field. This field's domain is defined in the Dictionary as a Value Range (i. e. 'A', 'B', etc.).
How can I do it generically, that is, when I update the domain, my code will still validate correctly the values?

Write a select on DD07L table by passing DOMNAME and get DOMVALUE_L & DOMVALUE_H which has the domain values and validate accordingly ... You can get the domain name of a data element from DD04L table where pass the data element name in ROLLNAME and get DOMNAME ...

Need help! Can't validate date overlaps for a tabular column

Hello all,
The validation I created to validate whether new or updates rows does not overlap with any records in the table isn't working.
The columns are StartDt and EndDt
Validation Type: NOT EXISTS
Validation expresion:
select 1

    WHERE S.STARTDT BETWEEN :STARTDT AND :ENDDT
OR(S.ENDDT BETWEEN :STARTDT AND :ENDDT)

The validation works if a new row or updated row overlaps any existing start and end date records but it doesn't work if I update startdate and end date rows that doesn't overlap existing date times
Example:
TABLE DISPLAYS THE FOLLOWING RECORDS
NAME                   START DATE                      END DATE
TEST                    1/1/2012                               12/31/2012
If I update the rows to the following values, I receive an error message (although those values don't overlap any records in the table)
NAME                   START DATE                      END DATE

Any ideas? Do I need to change my code?

Logic for date range overlap testing only requires two conditions in the WHERE clause:
ORACLE-BASE - Overlapping Date Ranges
WHERE S.STARTDT <= :ENDDT AND S.ENDDT >= :STARTDT -- TRUE for ranges that overlap
It looks a little odd, but, if you scribble out a 'logic table', it makes sense.

Planning function to change date field value in layout

Hello experts,
I have 1 BPS layout with 2 date fields ( Start date, End date ). With a filter conditions, set of data comes in BPS layout on execution and 2 date fields also contain some value...I want to change values of these 2 dates...both the date fields are char infoobjects..in BPS layout, in planning function I got only 1 function ( Repost function ) to change the value of char infoobject based on some condition. but date field value is not the status field...i want to enter new date instead of old date..if i right exit function in that also i can change only keyfigs values..so please help me to solve this problem..

As of now master data planning is not so flexibly supported.
Still u can refer the below link which is enhancement of standard Repost function,and can be used to change master data.

How to substract two date&time values

Well,i just need to substract last visited date&time value from systemdate. The last visited date&time(from the filed named SONBULUNMAZAMANI, ) is selected from table (IHALE_KATILIMCILAR ) in the format DD-MM-RRRR HH24:MI and systemdate is in the same format. And i need to get value in minutes. Then i need to check if the value is greater then 20 minutes, finally i will update database and set IHALE_KATILIMCILAR.AKTIF=0. Here is the code i used;

What version of SQLServer do you have? Datediff is not an Oracle built-in function.

THe difference between two dates in Oracle is in days. The decimal portion refers to partial days, so you need to convert that to the required precision. Also, both sysdate and your column are date type, and contain a time portion, so you do not need all the to_date/to_char stuff. Something like:

"Date Added" values changed to be identical in some folders

Hi,
I normally sort my work files (mostly .ppts) by "date added" to help me keep track, this usually works fine. I have the date added column showing in Finder and set the Folder Options to sort by date added.
I noticed today that in some folders (but not all) the date added value has been re-set by the system to be a random date (eg 30 Jan 2015 15:28 for one folder), and the date and time added is the exact same for all the files. Obviously this means I can't sort them anymore. I was wondering why this has happened and if it can be fixed as it's a really annoying and potentially serious issue.

You can assing default values to the Variables...Fiscal Year2008; Version100...etc. so that the user need not input all the variables.
I am not sure whether you can assign a function--"on selection" of variables. For better control It would be prudent to advise users to execute a function (if need be embed a SAVE function with in the sequence) on press of a button.

We have a date field in the form. I am validating date format as YYYY-MM-DD, validation works fine. But If user enters invalid date, how to validate date? For examples:
2006-02-31 It is an invalid date. How can i validate it.

You can use something like the following to test the date is valid, use the validation event on the <Field> which you want to validate to call a Rule something like this (not complete)..
