Validating the number of columns

how can i validate the number of columns in the custom table with number of columns in flat file.. at the moment ive uploaded all the data in flat file to internal table.

I am using the Database Toolkit (Enterprise Connectivity) to check for a network connection and then send information from a local database to a SQL database on the network if needed. In development of the code I continue to receive Error 1 and the Possible Reason(s) is "Argument error; the number of columns does not equal the number of parameters." I am using the DBToolsSelectData.VI to retrieve data from the local MDB file and the DBToolsInsertData.VI to write it to the SQL file. The collection of the data from the MDB file is successful and the connection and validation of the table and columns in the SQL file is also successful. The error occurs when the Insert VI tries to build the query. The number of columns being written (attempted) does match the number of columns in the data, they are both 16 string arrays.

Ok, it's taken a bit, and I have a solution! It took a while to figure out what the DCT is doing, but it seems to be working now.
The reason for the original error is that you were passing into the insert subVI an array of variants - which the input to the VI coerced into a single variant. You were getting the error because as far as the insert VI was concerned you were only passing it a single data value. The way to get around that was to create a cluster with one element for each column value, convert the cluster to a variant and pass the result to the insert VI - see attachment.
In terms of the other modifications, I made a copy of the endurance.mdb file, emptied it and used it as the destination for the copy.

If you can do it in a single SQL statement then you should do that.

How to get the number of columns in a result set???

hi everyone..
i am trying to establish a servlet applet communication....
my applet send the sql query to the servlet as serialised string and then the servlet executes the query...
Since i need to pass the result back to the applet, i thaught of passing the whole reult set to the applet..but that seems to be not possible..
so i thaught of storing my result set data in a vector and then pass the vector,but the first problem that i came across is that how to get the number of colums in a result set....
so is there a way to get the number of columns in a result set...???
and also i would like to know if it possible to send my whole result set to the applet bye serialization or by any method...???

You shouldn't do. It expenses resources (you should always close the ResultSet and the Statement as fast as possible). Simply gently process it into a Collection or Map of DTO's. Those are serializable.

Pages '09 does not seem to allow layout breaks in Textboxes.
Pages 5.2 has the same limitation.
Use multiple linked Textboxes in Pages '09 to get the layout you want or create your layout in a Word Processing template in the document layer.

Maybe the following is applicable in your case:
I don't know exactly what you are doing in the BOBJ system but are you using an RFC read table function?
If yes this may be the problem. RFC ReadTable is OK to do some tests but is not scalable. Plus there is a limitation
with the RFC_READ_TABLE function in terms of number of characters returned (up to 512 characters), you
should use R/3 dataflow instread:

Count the number of columns return in an user-input sql query

I need to do something like this
I let an user input a sql query and then execute it
assuming the sql query is always correct, it will return a Resultset
then a table will pop up to accomodate the number of columns the resultset will produce
i'm stuck at the part on how to check how many columns of data will be return in the resultset

You're not going to use FontMetrics to change the width of the characters; you're going to use it figure out how wide a single character is. Then multiply by the number of characters you want to have in a line, and presto! You know how wide to make your JTextPane.
Unless I've misunderstood your problem, of course.

How can I edit the number of columns in a header in Pages?

I'm trying to set up headers in an APA style document and the middle field in the header is cutting off my copy. How can I make the header only two columns? Or is there a way to hide the middle one so it doesn't cut anything off?

As far as I know, the three header columns in Pages v5+ are not changeable. If you had Pages installed prior to version 5, it was moved into /Applications/iWork, and is your best bet for Pages productivity.

Validating the first two columns of a excel file when importing?

Hi everyone,
I have an excel file in the presentation server which has to be uploaded into prog.First the user adds a additonal column in the excel file.
For example the excel file is intially in this way,
col1 col2 col3 col4 col5
Now the user adds one more column 'colx' in the excel sheet and he will upload it into the prog.Before uploading programatically we have to validate that the first two columns of the excel file should be col1 colx(the newly added one).How can I do it?

I have one more problem.Now in the excel file I may have only 5 columns in the future it may have more than that.So the internal table which will hold the uploaded values from excel file should be dynamic.I can't declare the internal table with 5 or 6 columns like that.If the user adds some columns in the excel file and upload it,the internal table should hold these columns also.
i hope u understood my requirement.Can u give me any ideas.If u have any sample code for this kind of requirement.
