Validating the Period field

hi,
I've a text input field " Period" which has a format of interval. The User date settings change so I've split this field into two Text fields From and To with Value helps with Key_EXT and assigning value @From& ':' &@To to "Period".
No I want to do validation that Start Date should be less than the End date.
Please help on how to go ahead with it.

Hi,
One option you can use is Disable the submit button of the input form if @from is greater than @to date.
We generally follow the below steps for period input:
1. different text fields for from and two dates.
2. a button(Add) to transfer the selected period to a text field where the user can see the selected period.
3. Validation will be don on the Add button which is disabled if "from" is greater than "to" i.e. not allowing the invalid input for the period.
4. we will use the value in the text field to feed the data service to get results.

The field is of type CURR and when the user hits "enter" it puts all letters in CAP but doesn't sends any error message.

The screen works corretly when we run it on SAP Gui, the field has the type CURR, but when we executed on web, with a its web interface:

But when the users inputs the price, the system doesn't send the error box with the error message.

How to use the period in controls?

Hi,
I would like to use a control to validate my current opening balance amounts to the closing balance amounts from the final period in the prior year. However I cannot get it to work as I struggle to find what to enter in the period field for the control. I have tried DEC (PERIOD property in the time dimension) and 12 (MONTHNUM property in the time dimension) but in both cases BPC doesn't validate the control saying that neither value is valid.

Hi,
Firstly goto view->select the element that you want to make mandatory and set the State property to required.
Secondly place the below code in the WDDOBEFOREACTION
DATA: l_view_controller TYPE REF TO if_wd_view_controller.
* Get view controller
l_view_controller = wd_this->wd_get_api( ).
* Check for mandatory attribute
cl_wd_dynamic_tool=>check_mandatory_attr_on_view(
EXPORTING view_controller = l_view_controller
display_messages = abap_true

1 - May I know what is this field about (in between our company using material ledger).
2 - May I know why the value of this field are different between our company period 6 and period 7 for this year? what contribute to it? and is it something wrong with different value between two different period or absolutely normal?

For your 1st query:
PUP field in Accounting 1 (if ML is active, Price Determination indicator=3) is the result of Actual Costing Run (CKMLCP) closing entry.
For your 2nd query:
In most of the cases the values will be different in Previous Period and Current Period. e.g.Period 6 values are the results of Actual Costing Run (CKMLCP) in 1st week of Period 6 for Previous Period (i.e. Period 5). Period 7 values are the results of Actual Costing Run (CKMLCP) in 1st week of Period 7 for Previous Period (i.e. Period 6).
The reason for the different values: Price differences, Exchange rate differences, Price/Exchange rate differences from Low lower materials, etc.

You can only get the Valid from date from the table STKO.
To get the valid to date, you have to take one day less than the valid-from date of the next record for the same BOM.
Alternatively use the Function module:
CSAP_MAT_BOM_READ
It will give both valid from and valid to dates in the tables parameter: T_STKO

Using LOV with Validation on the Numeric Fields results in Error

Dear JHeadstart Team,
During my work with lov I encountered another problem. I defined a lov and attached the lov to a numeric field and check the LOV for validation. Now when I use LOV using the LOV button it works fine but when I enter some numbers and then press tab the LOV was not shown correctly and resulted in the following errors and the worst thing is that you can not navigate to any other pages and all try to navigate to other pages results in errors too. When we put the same LOV on a string field (which is not desirable for us) it worked fine.
It seems to me like a bug. Am I right? Is ther any solution or workaround for this problem?

We ran into the same bug and have the next workaround for it:
We extended the JHeadstart class 'LovItemBean' and we have overridden the method 'validateWithLov(...)' with:

}Next step is to use a custom template in your JHeaedstart Application Structure file for 'LOV_ITEM_BEAN'. In this custom template you should use your own class as 'managed-bean-class' instead of the default JHeadstart one.
Now you can safely generate LOV with validation of number fields.
Maybe something the JHeadstart can pcik up in the next release of JHeadstart :-)

The old, non-valid email address has been deleted in the address book and replaced by a new valid email address. When typing in the "To" field both email addresses appear as an option. Is it possible to achieve that only the valid email address is offered as an option so to avoid any confusion.

well, when the "false" address is in the "to" field, you should see a littl' arrow pointing down and a "remove from previous recipients list.
It should fix the problem. (and so, only keep the "good one"

Cursor on the same field after validation (urgent.)

I m doin validation on certain field. if the user enters wrong value then error message should be given along with the cursor should be in that field only.
Here in my case what happens is the cursor goes to intial screen i want it at on that field where i have given the validation.
What should i do for the same?

Using a parmater field for a Date field using the "in the period" selection

Users would like to fetch records using the "in the period" record selection. They would like to be prompted on the period to run the report. ie
MonthToDate
YearToDate
Last7Days
Last4WeeksToSun
LastFullWeek
LastFullMonth
AllDatesToToday
etc...
I've created a parameter with a dropdown list of values. However the parmeter field I created isn't available as a value in the date field in the "Select Record Expert" function.
Is there a work around?

Unfortunately you still have a little bit more work to do... but not much.
You need to add a formula to your selection criteria. Something along these lines:

On the plus side, you'll be able to go back into your parameter and add some spaces to list options... which will look better for the end users.

Validating User Defined Fields on the OIM User Object

Hello everyone,
I'm currently using the OIM 11g, and am curious how to provide data validation for user defined fields.
We currently have two user-defined fields for day of birth and month of birth, which have been set to required, but I would like to take this a step further and actually validate that the data being entered is numerical (two characters max), and if it's not, a red box appears around the field notifying the admin that the entry needs to fit the expected criteria.
One example already in OIM is that of the email field. It appears to be using a regex to identify that data entered is of a certain format.
Can anyone here point me in the direction of some proper documentation so that I may learn how to incorporate this into my environment? Thanks!

Hi Kate,
The only way to do it, is with Form Settings. Do not give them authorisations on Form Settings. You can then untick the "Active" tick box on certain fields and tick it on others. This can then be done, when you log on as the user him/herself.

Validations on the screen fields in a module pool program

i am creating a sales order against a purchase order ,i am selecting a PO click on a button to call another screen which has all the mandatory fields of the SO i want validations on the screen fields or the input fields as when i enter the header data and the items data and the partner data from the input serach help that is already enabled on the screen fields ,if there is any mismatch among the fileds and an error message is displayed for example:-" material no 100-100 does not exist for sales area" then only that field where this message is present should be field enabled and the rest of the fields should be field disabled.
also the error message i m displaying is in short text form and not in long text i clicked on it (long text) however how to use it was not known to me .

This would be quite opposite of what h_vakz does. h_vakz gives Sales document based on Sales org..and you want vice versa. Create a simple SH with
selection method : TVAKZ
AUART as importing only
VKORG as exporting only. So when you enter an AUART you get all VKORG it is defined in. I'm not aware of a standard search help which matches the requirement. If anybody does please help me.

I need your quick suggestion, how to create Function module and Write the code for a datasource. I want to add fiscalyear./period field in one of the datasource. please tell the logic which field and what table i will pick that. can you tell me the steps if i can create the function module and make alll enhancements in that FM for that datasource. No need - just add fiscal year period to your cube and assign it cal day/posting date - whatever you want to calculate the fiscal period
Then the automatic time conversion will take care of the rest
You will need the fiscal year variant - if you don't have this - get it from the Company Code table in R3 (T001 or similar)
