Validating the type

I have a UI which has JTextFields. I want to validate the data type(string, boolean etc) when the user enters and clicks an ok button.
Also I have certain fields which are "*" fields, "*" fields are required. I do I enforce this to the user?
How do I go about implementing this.

First and foremost, never,ever give you user a chance to do something stupid, if you can prevent it. e.g. use radio buttons for true/false data.
Second, a simple data validation method for JTexfFields is the use of an javax.swing.InputVerifier. I have seen implementations of InputVerifier used for validating almost all types of data, including requiring "something" to be entered.
You can also check * fields as part of action after ok button is checked. I would keep references to required fields in some sort of Collection so it would be easy to iterate over when ok is check.
You can also consider JFormattedTextFields or specialized Document implementation to accomplish this requirement. I suggest searching tests forums for many good tips and code snippets.

Tweak the deserialization of ASObjects to treat an empty string for the type of an object as null. It appears that there is some logic in the LC remoting code that relies on a non-null class name to always exist. This change reverts to the old behavior of not allowing empty string as a value for the ASObject.namedType.
This should fix bug 2448442 and its duplicates caused by the recent serialization changes.
I don't think this is the perfect fix. Pending further investigation, a better fix would be either:
a. If it's OK to assume that empty string should always mean null for the type of the ASObject, the code that enforces it should be in the setter/getter inside ASObject and not in the deserializer.
b. ASObject doesn't guarantee that a named type exists or is valid. In that sense an empty string is as bad as some random characters that cannot be a valid class name in java, so depending on how disruptive it may be, the fix should be in any logic that uses ASObject.getType().

Yes, you are right - but this message is standard AQ Adapter Header message - it's not defined by me. I just used message which was automatically added to my project when I have defined AQ Adapter.

Do you mean targetNamespace? If yes it's different as it points to process "targetNamespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/PF_SOA_jws/PF_APPS/APPS_PROCESS" (names of application and process have changed as I try different ways to do that)

When I create a variable of header type, namespace ns1 is automatically created for it. I set it as property of receive activity. When process is instantiated on the serwer I get the error in which you can see that namespace is tns.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I don't see how I could fix this in my process.
You can see that the message I get on the server has nothing in common with the application/project/process names. Is it possible to define such variable?

PS:
In Transformation xsl file, both variables (source and target) has tns namespace for Header and PayloadHeader, and no namespace for subfields.

Pl do below 2 things:
1 ) Go to Transaction code = OMBA , Click on Goods receipt Documen type button and check whether MIGO_GR is assigned to DOC Type = WE
2 ) Go to Transaction code = OMJJ , Tick Movement type and select 101 Movement type .
Then You need to click on "Allowed Transaction option ( Left pane ) and see whether transaction code MIGO is mentioned for Movement type 101.
it should solve ur problem.

Exception with the type CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB occured and was not handled

Hi Champs,
I am working on an interface which picks up file uploaded in a XI server and process it. The Function module used is a Z function module, developed locally.
I am uploading an tab limited file in XI server and a background job processes the file. The tab limited file contains Payelement Transaction ID as primary key. And after validation of elements like WBS element, cost center etc the file is posted using BAPI BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST. And all the Payelement Trans Ids are also replicated in a Z table, with there status viz. Success or Error or Warning.
After background job was completed, we found in Tcode SXMB_MONI that the file was in error.
The error message was :
Error during proxy processing An exception with the type CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB occurred, but was neither handled locally, nor declared in a RAISING clause The system tried to insert a data record, even though a data record with the same primary key already exists.
But to my dismay, I found that some of the Payelement Trans Ids were posted for a document and are also replicated in my Z table.
From the error it seems that we are inserting a record that is already there in the document. I have checked in for BAPI's input parameter, there is nothing duplicate.
Note: Insertion in Z table is made after the BAPI BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST.
Can you help me out in this issue as it is now getting into veins

Hi,
Even we have faced this kind of issue. In order to solve this just write the following code:
1) Before inserting records in to Z table, write one select query on that table with primary key fields in where clause. Pass the value that are returned by BAPI BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST to the key field.
2) If sy-subrc = 4, insert records in Z table else Continue and dont insert records in this table.
This will solve your problem.

How do i call servlet from javascript after validation the javascript

Can anyone tell me how to call a servlet after the javascript is being validated. Here is my code to validate javascript i need to call a servlet inorder to save the data into the same form. I tried calling through the action method in the form but its directly taking me to the servlet but not validating the form. Is there any way that i can validate the form first then call the servlet.

Your javascript code contains a syntax error. That's why the function isn't being called. Take a look at this line in your code.

Problem to validate XML document if the type of root element is abstract

I have the following XML document:

Please take attention to the fact that the type of root element of that BDD is abstract.
XML Schema provides a mechanism to force substitution for a particular element or type. When an element or type is declared to be "abstract", it cannot be used in an instance document. When an element is declared to be abstract, a member of that element's substitution group must appear in the instance document. When an element's corresponding type definition is declared as abstract, all instances of that element must use xsi:type to indicate a derived type that is not abstract.
Declaring an element as abstract requires the use of a substitution group. Declaring a type as abstract simply requires the use of a type derived from it (and identified by the xsi:type attribute) in the instance document.
For more information of using abstract types please see chapter 4.7 Abstract Elements and Types of XML Schema Part 0: Primer Second (http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema-0/#abstract).
In this case there is Oracle bug when I try to validate this XML document using Oracle XDK:

I tried to validate this XML document using two other libraries - XSD Schema Validator (http://apps.gotdotnet.com/xmltools/xsdvalidator/Default.aspx) and xsdvalid-29 (http://www.w3.org/XML/Schema#XSDValid). Both libraries pointed me on the error that the type of root element is abstract and it cannot be used for doing validation.
I think that Oracle should return me explaining message but not to throw exception.
Am I right? Is there really Oracle bug or I miss something?
Any help, hits, advices would be gratfully apriciated.

This is likely more complicated than making property nodes for each
ring, but you can do it. Make a subVI that takes in a panel reference,
reads the array of control references, loops through them looking for
rings, and modifying the Strings[] property on each ring.
The part of this that will probably be the least obvious, when you
have an array of control references there are two ways to find out
if an element is a ring. You can read the classID and compare it
to the cla
ssID of a true ring control. An alternative is to cast
the control reference to a ring control using a Cast to more specific
node and wire the error out to a case structure. The error case is
where the objects that aren't rings will go. The success case case
where you will have a valid ring refnum that you can use to modify
the strings.

Hello . I want to install a NW7.3 based BI system. I found reccomendation to start with ABAP instance an then start of Java central server installation
However I have checked option BI Java and additionaly I had EP, AS, EPC, and BASIC.
however on next screen I am asked about SAP system ID(I entered the ABAP installed one i.e. BI4)
However this gets recognized that BI4 is already existing after ABAP.
SAP system BI4 exists and is not suitable for this installation option. DIAGNOS: Valid instance type for this instalation optiion are SCS, ER2, j2eedi, J2eeci , but instance ASCS01 has different type
Solution: Choose a different SAP system ID or unistall the existing one

Now when I have suceesfully installed both (java @abap systems) I wander how to connect them.
I red somewhere I should establish a JCO connection but I wander where
I found new netweawer administrator http://<host>:5<sysnr>00
JCO can be established via http://<host>:5<sysnr>00->configuration->infrastructure->JCO RFC provider.
But which programID to use and..
Is there somewhere some guide how to build BI out of this 2 (java @abap) systems. I only during java instalation entered users to get user communication between java@abap

Error VLD - 5005 when validating the map

Using Datawarehouse builder 10.2 i have the following problem.
This is the scenario:
I have a dimension with one level and no hierachy and i want to do a mapping between a table and that dimension.
Table has three atributes:supplier_id;name_sup;adress_sup.
The dimension(which passes the validation) as four, three of type business to store information from the table atributes and one of the type surrogate(all these atributes belong to the same level).
When validating the mapping I have this error:
VLD-5005: no updatable inputs connected for dimension level "DIM_CUSTOMERS.LEVEL1"
Details: At least one updatable input must be connected for level DIM_CUSTOMERS.LEVEL1, or the generated code will fail. paraent reference key and level natural key inputs are not updatable attributes in the target
If I change dimension loading type to remove(instead of load) the validation is sucessful but the map doesn't work.
Could anyone please give me a sugestion.

could you explain that a little more please? (I.e. "make one of your source table attributes non-business"). I thought you could add the 'business' tag to attributes in the dimension, but I cannot see how to do that to the source table that is loading the dimension.
FYI, I am trying to add an 'all-levels' category-type top level to a dimension hierarchy where the true source data goes

This is intended to combine source data from two sources, Products and Services. Products have two unrelated Type levels above them. Services have no Types. I thought I might be abow to create a mapping per source, and use a Constant to insert a Category attribute (business key) of either 'PRODUCT' or 'SERVICE' per mapping. My thinking was to use two seperate loads to the dimension. However, the first one generates the VLD-5005 error. I'd sure appreciate some help with theis fix.
Do you know a better way of doing this?
Also, is there a list/manual anywhere of all error messages for Paris?

If the termination type was ABORT_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can find more information on the cause of the termination on the application server HPI-DEV_ERD_01 in transaction SM21.
If the termination type was ERROR_MESSAGE_STATE, then you can search for more information in the trace file for the work process 0 in transaction ST11 on the application server HPI-DEV_ERD_01 . In some situations, you may also need to analyze the trace files of other work processes.

It seems that the data element WDR_APP_PROP_DISP_LOADINGPAGE is not created in your system.

IFS-12635: SimpleXmlParser: Value(10/10/99) not valid for type (Date)

I am trying to uplaod an xml document sample which has an attribute of date datatype.
My sample is :
<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<document>
<name> test</name>
<createdate>1999/03/12</createdate>
</document>
I am getting this error:
IFS-12635: SimpleXmlParser: Value(10/10/99) not valid for type (Date).
If I input just the "name attribute" value, there is no problem. What is the date format, I should use?
Please suggest.

Is there any way to specify the format in the custom type document itself. ? I do not want to specify the format in every document sample. Is there any way that it is possible. If I give the format in the document samples, as Matt said, there is no problem.
Now I tried to give the format in the type document itself.
I created a custom type document as follows:

I could able to upload this to ifs. No problem at this time. But when I try to load the below sample, I am getting the same parse problem.(IFS-12635 SimpleXmlParser: Value(12-25-1992) not valid for type (Date.).
