    There are two possible solutions.
    Solution1:
    Program1.Should be run before atleast once so that TIME should be filled.
    data: var type sy-uzeit.
    var = sy-uzeit.
    EXPORT var TO MEMORY ID 'TIME'.
    Program2.IF the TIME is filled,then only it will produce the result.
    data: var type sy-uzeit.
    clear var.
    IMPORT var FROM MEMORY ID 'TIME'.
    write:/ var, sy-subrc, sy-uzeit.
    Solution2:
    Single program:
    data: var type sy-uzeit.
    var = sy-uzeit.

    DESCRIBE TABLE <itab> [LINES <l>] [OCCURS <n>] [KIND <k>].
    If you use the LINES parameter, the number of filled lines is written to the variable <lin>. If parameter, the you use the OCCURS value of the INITIAL SIZE of the table is returned to the variable <n>. If you use the KIND parameter, the table type is returned to the variable <k>: ‘T’ for standard table, ‘S’ for sorted table, and ‘H’ for hashed table.

    After the statements DESCRIBE TABLE, LOOP AT, and READ TABLE, SY-TFILL contains the number of lines in the relevant internal table.

  • How to convert select-options table into single field internal table

    Hi,
    My requirement is to convert select-options table into single internal table which has one field.
    e.g. select-options: s_matnr for mara-matnr.
           select-options table can have options  'BT',"EQ", "NE", "GE", "GT", "LE", "LT", "CP" etc. select-options table
           have   Sign:I ,Option:BT, Low: 1, High.10.The new internal table records should be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.
    Please suggest any function module available for this scenario in SAP.

    Here is the answer if I understand well of your question.

             end of gt_year.
    Select-options: s_period       FOR ptdw_pws_db-kmonth NO-EXTENSION
                                                                                    DEFAULT sy-datum(6)
                                                                                    TO sy-datum(6).
    For example according to above statement period is 201110 is 201201.
    Period field does n't exists in SAP for selection. If your selection is on date based on period which is given on the selection-screen then you need to convert the period to date by concatenating ( or using FM to convert )01 at the end of each period . You need to declare one range table for date to select the data from table.
    loop at s_period.
    gr_date-sign   = s_period-sign.
    gr_date-option = s_period-option.
    COncatenate s_period-low
                          '01'
    into gr_date-high.

    - G = global variable
    - L = local variable
    - T = internal table
    - S = structure
    - D = field
    That's how the combinations look like:
    - GT_ITAB     = global itab
    - GS_STRUC = global structure
    - GD_FIELD   = global field
    - LT_ITAB     = local itab
    - LS_STRUC = local structure
    - LD_FIELD   = local field
    Function module parameters have to stick to the following rules:
    - I = importing
    - E = exporting
    - [C = changing -> never used]
    - IT_ITAB = imported table type (itab)
    - IS_STRUC = imported structure
    - ID_FIELD   = imported field
    - ET_ITAB = exported table type (itab)
    - ES_STRUC = exported structure

    My answer to this question is: Yes, definitively.
    I believe that the advantage of semantically differentiating TABLES parameters of function modules is quite obvious:

    I have downloaded GLT0 table fields  data to PC file . But i need to download KTOPL(Chart Of Accounts) data also. in GLT0 table there is no KTOPL field.

  • Short dump while reading a currency field from Flat file into internal tabl

    Hi,
    I am getting a short dump........saying number conversion dump (while reading a currency value into field in internal table from a fixed lenght flat file).........
    Do I need to use a string variable to get the value from flat file or how ??

    and then write to

  • Dynamic creation of variables and alv grid output/internal table

    Dear Experts
    I am stuck in an inventory ageing report which is to be done year wise. the scenario is as follow.
    selection screen i enter the year 2011 or 2010 or 2009.
    the output should show me 2011-2007 or 2010-2007 or 2009-2007. the alv grid should always start from 2007 and end at the year that is entered in the selection screen.
    Now how can i create a dynamic variables to store the values of the corresponding yr and also how can i create a dynamic internal table to store these values.

    Hi Zamir,
    if you are new to ABAP you may leave old and buggy techniques behind.
    If you want to create the table dynamically, please do not use l_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table because it is limited and always triggers a possibly unwanted database commit.
    You better use RTTS dynamic runtime type services, i.e. check the example for [Creating Flat and Complex Internal Tables Dynamically using RTTI|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Snippets/CreatingFlatandComplexInternalTablesDynamicallyusingRTTI].
    As done here, leave all outdated ALV technologies behind and start with CL_SALV_TABLE. It is following the object-oriented approach and does not need a field catalog.
    You will get used to field-symbols that can be compared to the data referenced by a pointer. For dynamic fields, you may build the field names dynamically, i.e.

  • How to populate one internal table from another using field symbols

      I have a problem. I have to populate one internal table (sructure t_otput) from another internal table (sructure t_from) using field symbol.
    Structure for from table.

             demand type i,
           end of t_from.
    Structure for output table.

  • Abap dump:  internal table too small, condense non-character like fields

    Hi there,
    I created a dynamic internal table by:
    CALL FUNCTION 'LVC_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE'
    CALL METHOD CL_ALV_TABLE_CREATE=>CREATE_DYNAMIC_TABLE
    ASSIGN IT_EP_TABLE->* TO <IT_DBTABLE>.
        SELECT * FROM (P_TABLE_NAME)
         <b> INTO TABLE <IT_DBTABLE> </b>
    It gave the error <b> internal table too small </b> SAPSQL_SELECT_TAB_TOO_SMALL,
    so I removed the error by using "into corresponding fields of <IT_DBTABLE>.
    But now it is not creating a TXT file by function module from internal table records. As it says the CONDENSE statement cannot be executed and dump occurs: 'OBJECTS_NOT_CHARLIKE' 'The current statement only supports character-type data objects', 'In statement
    "CONDENSE" the argument "<F_SOURCE>" can only take a character-type data object'.
    It only happens for table AFPO. As I think this table has fields i.e. currency which cannot be treated as characters. Is the move corresponding approach ok. Or how can I create text file with these records.

    try creating a dynamic table in the image of the source table and then move-corresponding to the original one. Something like this:

  • Passing internal table with a field of type string to & from BAPI

    Hello ABAP gurus,
    I have a simple BAPI which has to send back an internal table.
    Internal table structure is as follows
    DATA: BEGIN OF itab OCCURS 0,
            config_id(8),
            blobdata like zstring,
    END OF itab.
    where zstring is a string of variable length.
    When I try to activate the BAPI I get a message
    "itab" must be a flat structure. You cannot use internal tables, strings, references or structures as components.
    However, just for testing, I changed blobdata to type of char and I can successfully activate and use the BAPI.
    But, our requirement is to pass a string of variable length.
    How can I resolve this issue? I have searched sdn and other blogs but didn't help so far.
    Any feedback on this will be highly appreciated.

         Try this way :
    Acc to your requirement ,create a structure with a parameter and a string , create a table type for that structure .
    use that table type in the changing parameter as you need that bapi to accept and return a table .
    for the below example ,  ZTEST_05 is a structure , ZTT_TEST_05 is a table type of ZTEST_05 .
    ZTEST_05 has got 2 fields , one is a param of type char(8) and another is a string of type STRING .
    I created the below mentioned BAPI and I was able to activate it without any errors .
         FUNCTION ZTEST_BAPI_ITAB_01.

    *"     VALUE(BAPI_P1) TYPE  ZTEST_05
