Variable IF inside mc

Hi,
I have the following question:
I have 5 buttons inside a movie clip and i would like to work
with the variable IF.
For example, if the button 1 is released it plays the main
timeline and after finishing, tru the variable if, the timeline is
redirected to a frame x.
i'm sorry if i haven't expressed me well because my english
is not one of the best.
As of button 1:
on(release){
_root.play();
bt="teste"
As of the last frame of the main timeline
if(bt=="teste"){
gotoAndPlay(233);
if the button is direcly placed on the stage the variable IF
works normaly, but when the button is inside a mc the _root.play();
action is normal but the variable IF is simply ignored by the time
line, and the timeline is not redirected to frame 233.
could someone help me?
thanks,
Peter

You need to declare bt outside the on code block. Do this on
the first key frame
var bt:String;
or
var bt:String = "";

  • Can we set a variable used inside the template from the java code.

    Hi everybody,
    I am uploading template,sub template and data xml fle to generate the preview using XDO API's. My main template is calling a sub template so it needs to import the sub template in the main template.since i am uploading my files on a particular server,my subtemplates has been put on different path as specified in the main template.
    so i need to change the subtemplate path dynamically at run time.
    is there any way i can pass this information to my main template at run time.
    one solution could be,my rtf template has a variable 'i' inside it,which is setting the file path to include my subtemplate like this :
    <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX, i ,"import:file:///c:/Temp/htmlmarkup.xsl")?>
    <?xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX, i )?>
    now is there any way i can set this variable at run time from my external java code.?
    Thanks,
    Anuradha

    Thanks for the response.
    but i still am looking for the solution.
    if both my template and subtemplate are in the same directory then atleast
    <?import:file:../htmlmarkup.xsl?> should work.
    but its not working...i m getting following error:

  • PayloadZipBean - variable filename inside the archive

    Hi,
    I'm using the Adapter-Specific Message Properties in a sender fileadapter to determine the incoming filename, which has variable components (i.e. date and time). After changing the prefix and suffix in a Message-Mapping the new name is applied in a receiver fileadapter. The new name is now part of the payload in the tag <Filename>. The receiver fileadapter contains the PayloadZipBean to compress the output file, everything works fine.
    Now I want the file inside my compressed archive always to have the same name as my archive has. In Stefan Grube's blog about the PayloadZipBean I only found the possibility to choose a fix name by using the MessageTransformBean (name="file.txt").
    Example:
    1. variable input filename:                       IN_RNK_20080227_1006.txt
    2. filename after Message-Mapping:        OUT_RNK_20080227_1006.gz
    3. archive filename after receiver adapter: OUT_RNK_20080227_1006.gz
        filename inside the archive:                 MainDocument (this is the default (payload-name))
    I would like to name the file inside the archive OUT_RNK_20080227_1006, too.
    Question 1: Is there any possibility to read out the mapped <Filename>-tag from the payload to use it for the element inside my archive (File Name Scheme and Variable Substitution don't work when using Adapter-Specific Message Properties).
    Question 2: Is there a way to modify the name of the payload so that I can change "MainDocument" to "OUT_RNK_20080227_1006"?
    I'm on XI 3.0 - SP19.
    Many thanks,
    Ralph

  • How  to trace() a variable nested inside another clip that is created at run time by the user ???

    Hi again Now i have another problem
    i explain :  on my stage i have 24 instance MC Page created at runtime (when cliked the button execute 24 instance MC Page from the library). Each of those MC Page create an xml  with infos (not important), this variable_XML created is nested inside each MC Page.. From my stage i want to call each XML from each MC Page  for make 1 unic  big xml, then send it to the server.
    So from the main stage i created a button that call each xml of each MC Page (there is a definit number of Page only 24, no more, no less). So
    when the 24 instances of the MC Page are created I push there instance name inside an Array "Page_Array". Now in my function exportxml
    i use get ChildByName(Page_array[number]) for find them then i can apply my method to the according MCPage.. Until here no problem, trace(dispObject.name) work. but when i try to get my variable inside the MC Page : trace(dispObject.my_variableXML), it doesnt work...Why ??
    here is my function (only 1 page for this example ):
    function exportxml(evt:MouseEvent):void {
        dispObject=getChildByName(Page_Array[0]);
        trace(dispObject.name); //trace  Page1
         trace(dispObject.my_variableXML);// here it dont trace the variableXML
    normally if i trace(Page1.my_variableXML); , it should trace "my_varableXML"  no ??

    when i export my movies Im so worried  to see if it work that  i clicked the button that trigger the function exportxml before the actual my_variableXML is created , so is normal that the code above didnt work... so all is normal and it work... sorry i will think 10 time before posting next time. promess .

  • How to use a variable made inside a movie clip from outside

    I have been searching for ages and just cant find out how to do this!
    i have set a boolean variable inside a movieclip and would like something to change outside the movieclip, using an if statement, depending on whether the variable is true or false, but cant find out how to do it anywhere!
    this may be a nob question but any help will be greatly appreciated

    Your movieclip will need to have an instance name assigned to it (via the Properties panel).  Then you should be able to use that name to target the variable...
    mcName.boolVar = etc....

  • Calling a variable from inside a movieclip AS3 in Flash CS4

    I am trying to trace a variable string from inside a movieclip which is inside another movieclip on the main timeline using:
    trace(VariableString);
    and also
    trace(stage.VariableString);
    Neither work
    The variable is an input textfield and traces fine when it is on the main timeline but will not work from inside the movieclip. I am using Actionscript 3 in Flash CS4.
    I appreciate this has probably been discussed previously on this forum but I cannot find a difinitve answer that seems to work.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply. However this did not seem to work.
    I think I had better explain a little better.
    On Keyfrme1 I have a MovieClip1 containing a text input component. I have created a variable on keyframe 1 using:
    var VariableString1:String = new String();
    When clicking on a seperate button this happens:
    VariableString1 = MovieClip1.text;
    I can trace this correctly on the main timeline using:
    trace(VariableString1);
    However, if I try to trace this from  another keyframe inside a movieclip2 which is inside another movieclip3 using:
    trace(MovieClip1(root).VariableString1);
    I just get the error 1180 call to a possibly undefined method MovieClip1
    Sorry if this is not very clear but I am getting very confused with this.
    Thanks again

  • How to access a variable from inside another symbol

    So i did this tutorial, Leveraging Independent Symbol Timelines created by Eliane...it's rockin, btw.  ;-)
    All's well but now i have a symbol on the stage called mc-home.  inside of mc-home is a button called btn-go.
    On the stage in composition ready there's a variable sym.setVariable("current", "mc-home");
    This code works for a symbol that's on the stage but, how do i get this code to work on a button that's inside another symbol that's on the stage?
    var current = sym.getVariable("current");
    if (current != "") {
        sym.getSymbol(current).play("OUT");
    sym.getSymbol("mc-something").play("IN");
    sym.setVariable("current", "mc-something");

    sorry, i was kind of confused myself too, don't worry about it but thanks for your patience for reading it anyway

    It would have helped if you had posted your code as CODE but as it is, I could hardly read it. My guess about what you are asking is, if you want a template to return a value, just write that value to the result stream inside the template.
    If that wasn't what you were asking, then please post your code in a readable format.

  • Stored Procedure - variable name inside string [EXEC]

    Hi everyone
    I'm looking for a solution for this problem:
    I've created a stored procedure, in which i need to insert a record in a table.
    The point is i don't know the exact column to put my values and which values to save: it depends from the input data.
    I've created a function wich creates (concats) my query.
    The result is similar to:
    SET @myquery = 'INSERT INTO MyTable (columnABC, columnDEF) VALUES (@valueABC, @valueDEF)'
    This query is the value of a varchar.
    I want to execute this query, so I thought to use: EXEC(@myquery)
    The problem is that SQL can't find the variables @valueABC or @valueDEF if thery're inside a nvarchar.
    Is there some particular syntax in order to replace the value of variables?
    I hope it's clear!!
    Thank you in advance!!!!!
    Federica

    You need to create an entire SQL string without the variables.
    SET @myquery = 'INSERT INTO MyTable (columnABC, columnDEF) VALUES (''' + @valueABC + ''', ''' + @valueDEF + ''')'
    Please, please don't post such bad solutions!
    If you use dynamic SQL, you should use a parameterised statement:
    SET @myquery = 'INSERT INTO MyTable (columnABC, columnDEF) VALUES (@valueABC, @valueDEF)'
    EXEC sp_executesql @myquery, N'@valueABC int, @valueDEF int',
         @valueABC, @valueDEF
    However, I would prefer not to use dynamic SQL at all, but do:
    INSERT tbl(keycol, col1, col2, col3, ....)
       VALUES (@keyval,
               CASE @coltoinsert WHEN 'col1' THEN @val END,
               CASE @coltoinsert WHEN 'col2' THEN @val END,
    Although the entire idea of not knowing the columns before sounds spooky to me. A column in a table is supposed to model a unique attribute.

    sp_Executesql worked for me, than you very much!!!

  • Can I set session variables from inside my Javascript?

    hi all,
    i want to set a couple of session variable while i am inside my javascript.

    No. JavaScript runs on the client and the session is on the server. You can use JavaScript to set parameters that get passed back in the request and can then be put in the session.

  • HELP: Cannot refer to non-final variable inside inner class

    Below is a function that WAS working beautifully. I had to restructure many things in my code base to suit a major change and I have to make this function static. Since I made this function static, I get some errors which are displayed in comments next to the line of code.
    Can anyone offer any advice how to fix this?
    static private void patchSource( final Target target, final TargetResolver resolver, final TexSheetCommand args ) throws Exception
         boolean bDone = false;
         Element e;
         SAXReader sax          = new SAXReader();
         FileInputStream fis     = new FileInputStream( args.getInputFile() );
         Document document     = sax.read( fis );
         Element root = document.getRootElement();
         if( root.getName().equals( "Sheet" ) )
              XMLParser.iterateElements( root,     new XMLElementCallback()
                                                      public void onElement( Element element )
                                                           XMLParser.iterateAttributes( element,     new XMLAttributeCallback()
                                                                                                   public void onAttribute( Element element, Attribute attribute )
                                                                                                        if( attribute.getName().equals( "guid" ) )
                                                                                                             e = element; // PROBLEM: Cannot refer to a non-final variable e inside an inner class defined in a different method
                                                                                                             // WARNING: Type safety: The expression of type Iterator needs unchecked conversion to conform to Iterator<Attribute>
                                                                                                             for( Iterator<Attribute> it = element.attributeIterator(); it.hasNext(); )
                                                                                                                  Attribute a = (Attribute)it.next();
                                                                                                                  if( a.getName().equals( "randOffset" ) )
                                                                                                                       Integer i = new Integer( resolver.getTotalPermutations() );
                                                                                                                       a.setValue( i.toString() );
                                                                                                                       bDone = true; // PROBLEM: Cannot refer to a non-final variable bDone inside an inner class defined in a different method
              if( ( !bDone ) && ( e != null ) )
                   Integer i = new Integer( resolver.getTotalPermutations() );
                   e.addAttribute( "randOffset", i.toString() );
         FileOutputStream fileOut     = new FileOutputStream( args.getInputFile() );
         OutputFormat format               = OutputFormat.createPrettyPrint();
            XMLWriter xmlWriter               = new XMLWriter( fileOut, format );
            xmlWriter.write( document );
            fileOut.close();
    }PS.) on a side note there is a warning on one of the lines too. Can anyone offer help on that one too?!
    Thanks in advance.

    It is already set to that - it does look correct in Eclipse, honest.
    It's just the block that's gone crazy with the formatting. I've spent around 10 minutes trying to tweak it just so it displays correctly but it wasn't making sense.
    I'd rather not turn this conversation into a judgement of my code-style - I already understand that it doesn't conform to the 'Java way' and I've had Java programmers bash me about it for a long time.
