Variable - Name of month instead of Number

Posting Period & Fiscal Year is used to calculate YTD in a report, so query has prompts Fiscal Year 2007 & Posting Period - 1,2.......12.
Here variable for posting period used is SAP defined single input mandatory variable....is there anyway to change some settings or etc so the variable will prompt January instead of 1 n so on.....
FYI : I <b>cant</b>* change the description as it is SAP defined...so can I still use text variables....

Global Settings can be transfered from Logical source system in RSA1 (right click on ECC source system, you will see transfer global settings).
look at the note thread for details...Transfer global settings..
Suppose assume your next fiscal year works from Dec 2007 to Nov 2008 (or cureent fiscal year from Dec 2006 to Nov 2008). Once you enter into Dec 2007, ECC FI team will create new fiscal year starting Dec 2007. you need this fiscal year for BI as well. you can get into BI enther Periodically transferring Global settings(updating T009 and T009B tables) or creating same Manually in BI tables(T009 and T009B). This manual option mainly mend for 3rd party DB, flat file etc.
Most of the cases we will schedule a batch job for Transfering Global Settings.

Text Variable(Customer Exit) displays variable name instead of its value.

Hi Gurus,
My requirement is to display the year(from variable) as the field name i.e Year end salary 2009.
I was using the fields name as hardcoded values like 2009 but as per my requirement i need to display it from the variable.
I tried using Text Variable using customer exit, but I'm getting variable name(zvariable) instead of value(2009).
Please help me out, many thanks in advance.

Actually I tried to create a Text Variable with Replacement Path.
But here the problem is that we have a Characteristic Variable (Customer Exit) which is not listing in the selection box of Replacement Path.
Hence we tried to create another Text Variable (Customer Exit) and refering to the same Customer Exit code.

XML Report displays Parameters instead of variable name

I would like the actual variable name to be displayed in the XML report instead of "Parameters". I have tried many things to make this happen with no success. Any ideas?

What type of step are you utilizing, and which version of TestStand are you using? I tried reproducing this behavior in TestStand 2012 with LabVIEW 2012 using a LabVIEW action step, passing a cluster of boolean arrays, and the result was the following:

Oracle 11G and SqlDataSource: 'ORA-01036: illegal variable name/number'

I'm trying to do some extremely simple drag and drop development in Visual Web Developer 2008 with the Oracle 11g database and ODP.NET. According to Oracle, "The data provider can be used with the latest .NET Framework 3.5 version. "
The SELECT statement works fine, but any attempt to use UPDATE via the SQLDataSource UpdateCommand nets me the infamous 'ORA-01036: illegal variable name/number' error.
I wouldn't mind using one of my MSDN Support Incidents to have Microsoft take a look at this issue, but I'm not sure the problem is Microsoft's. It seems like Oracle is doing a poor job in its Visual Studio integration.
Question: Has anyone successfully used an UpdateCommand statement in SQLDataSource against Oracle 11g? If so, let me know!

Ken,
One thing to be aware of is Microsoft has produced Visual Studio database tools and data provider for Oracle. In addition, Oracle has produced its own tools. Knowing which products you are using is important because you want to know which company you should be complaining about. :-)
In your video, you are using all Microsoft tools and data provider, not Oracle's.
I would recommend using Oracle Developer Tools (ODT) for VS and ODP.NET since these products are much better integrated with .NET and Oracle.
ODP.NET uses Oracle.DataAccess.Client namespace. System.Data.OracleClient belongs to the MS provider for Oracle, which Mark pointed out. If you drag and drop DB objects using ODT, it will generate ODP.NET code for you (and give you more data source wizard options as well).

These support .NET 3.5 and VS 2008.

Anonymous PL/SQL . Illegal variable Name/number.

I have tested ODP.NET in ASP.NET for upload images. But when read back from DB then save image to local drive. When I tested given sample code working fine. But when I modify code only select statment in PL/SQL it gives error.
Following statment is the error. Illegal variable Name/number. Pl.

You use bind variables. Great!
And then you do not use bind variables. Bummer!!
Why can you make the output from the SQL a bind variable, but you do not supply Product ID as a bind variable? This causes a unique and non-sharable SQL statement in the SQL Shared Pool. Where the emphasis is very obvious - shared SQL.
The definition should be something like this:
Dim block As String = "BEGIN SELECT Ad_Image into :1 from Printmedia WHERE Product_ID = :2; END;"But why are you using an anonymous PL/SQL block and a bind variable to get to the image? Deal with it as a cursor. Much easier. E.g.
Dim cursorSQL As String = "SELECT Ad_Image FROM Printmedia WHERE Product_ID = :1"Open the cursor. And there you have the resulting image column as a result.

QuickInfo shows a single letter instead of full variable name

I have an isolated shell application based on VS2010 shell. The mouse over on a variable in debug mode gives the name of the variable and the value.
Now, I have ported the application to isolated shell VS2013, now the mouse over on a variable is not identifying the entire variable name instead identifies only the single letter in the variable name.
There has been no change in the source code.
Is there any special handling required for the new isolated shell?

How exactly did you "port" the application to the 2013 isolated shell?
The tooltip feature you describe is implemented by a custom language service package. So I'd start looking there.
I've never seen recommendations for porting from one version of the isolate shell to another. I typically just generate a new isolated shell package, then add in my various package implementations to the new solution, and add them to the ShellExtensionsVSIX
manifest.
Also, if you have a custom project type based upon MPF_Proj, you may also need to update those sources to the corresponding version of the MPF_Proj sources, as those are routinely updated to match up the major VS versions.

There is so much of your code hidden from view it is impossible to tell you anything other than perhaps suggest a methodology.
Create a single variable with a known value and use dbms_output to view it as it steps through each piece of the puzzle. Determine when the value does something you don't want.

Using variables as variable names

I know I can use this[variable] to evaluate a variable name
so it can be used for such things as referring to a movie clip
e.g
this[variable]._x=100;
However... I'm trying to create movieClips with:
var MovieClipName:MovieClip = new MovieClip()
which doesn't work if I use this[variable] instead of
MovieClipName.

next after the first has been loaded.

you need to concat the linkage to the movieclip using your
string variable like this

you can use this method for looping through incrementally
named objects

I have a string variable with definition I need to use as a
variable name.
For example, this is super simplified:

I am trying to expose an EJB as a Webservice.. I assembled the ear using SERVICEGEN exposed by Weblogic 8.1
To my dismay the generated WSDL (even the web-services.xml) are not having the variable names which I gave in my webservice method. Instead I get String, String0, String1 and so on...

Variable Names

Im trying to write a simple loop that will create n amount of data types by using a for loop
for (int i=0;i<5;i++)
     MySet set+i=new MySet();
     }where it says MySet set+i i want it when it executes to read set1,set2,set3,etc so the variable name is the word set plus the number that i equals.
set+i doesnt work, set.i doesnt work and set&i doesnt work. anyone know what it should be?

You can't do this in Java. But you can declare an array and use the index to refer to each set like

Variable names display problem

I have three transparent text captions that are set to display from slide 1 through to slide 32 (using the option "display for rest of project").
The variables I am displaying are:
In the header:
$$cpInfoProjectName$$ - displays the name of the lesson module.
$$cpInfoCurrentSlideLabel$$ - displays the name of the current slide.
And in the footer:
Page $$cpInfoCurrentSlide$$ of $$rdinfoSlideCount$$ - displays the current slide number and the total number of slides in the lesson.
The problem is that the variable names display long enough to look somewhat unslightly. It might be for about 1/3 of a second but it is long enough to screen capture (attached just in case I am not clear enough in my description) this appearance before they resolve into their values.
This is rather annoying, since a student will see this occur for every slide.
Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Perhaps using a text caption is not the best way to display these variables?
Hmm... I wonder if creating a small persistant flash insert would be better?

I have seen that aswell Shawn. It seems like the variables are a bit slow to be populated with the correct value and then it will show the $$variable_name$$.
A Flash component would solve it and it won't take more than 5 minutes to make them all.
