Variable/objects in use

hi
i have a really demanding heap appllciation i.e. multiple tables with millions and millions of rows
i really need to be able to monitor what objects are in memory at certain times , is there an easy way to do this?
Thanks people

i.e. multiple tables with millions and millions of rowsWhy? Do you expect the user to actually scroll through all the rows to find the information they require? You need some kind of filtering front end to make the data more manageable.

  • Create object name using a String variable

    Hi,
    Im making a jsp page and I need to add several objects to a vector. The vector's name is arrayGrupo, and the object is Grupo. The problem is that when I create the instance of the object, I cant give him different names, so the add in the Vector will always be of the same object instance. Is there anyway to create an object name using a variable?
    Something like this:
    <% if (request.getParameter("grupoNome") != null ) {
                                       nomeG=request.getParameter("grupoNome");
                                       descG=request.getParameter("grupoDesc");
                                       int nG=arrayGrupo.getTamanho(); //size of the array
                                       String xpto=String.valueOf(nG);
                                       Grupo "xpto"= new Grupo(); //here is the problem
                                       xpto.setNomeGrupo(nomeG);
                                       xpto.setDescricao(descG);
                                       xpto.setIdgrupo(arrayGrupo.getTamanho()+1);
                                       arrayGrupo.addGrupo(xpto);
    }%>
    Thanks
    Rui Gonalves

    I want to show a list of objects that are stored in a vector. But I also want to add objects to that vector. If I just want to add one object, I can use this code:
    <% if (request.getParameter("grupoNome") != null ) {
                                       nomeG=request.getParameter("grupoNome");
                                       descG=request.getParameter("grupoDesc");
                                       Grupo newGrupo = new Grupo(nomeG,descG,arrayGrupo.getTamanho()+1);
                                       arrayGrupo.addGrupo(newGrupo);
    %>
    What should I do if I want to add more than one object to the vector?
    I dont know if I made myself clear but is quite hard to explain my problem.
    Thanks

  • AS3.0 External Interface: Pass variables to flash using javascript

    Hello all,
    I am looking for a simple and straightfoward example of how I can pass the value of a variable into flash using javascript.
    Specifically, I'd like to use javascript to pass the filename of an external video file that I would like to load into my flash movie.
    I'd also like to call a function in the SWF that plays the movie once the filename as been passed to the flash movie.
    External Inferface looks like the way to go.
    I've found a few decent AS2.0 examples, but converting them to AS3.0 has proven difficult and many of the examples are much too complex for what I am trying to do.
    If you have any code samples or tutorials showing the HTML/Javascript and the associated actionscript I'd really appreciate it!
    Thanks!

  • Photo flow object not using thumbnails, only the primary image

    I'm currently evaluating the trial version of this to see if it's something we can tweak to the way we'd like it, and I can't seem to get the object to use the thumbnail views (presumably for the angled views to either side of the centered image).  What we're trying to do is to use a version of the image with a fixed location "tool tip" above it when it's centered and displayed at the full size, but use a "thumbnail" image that doesn't have this.  The intention is when an image is centered, a box will be above the image with a brief description (the powers that be want it stationary rather than hover with the mouse location), but the thumbnail views to either side will not have it.
    The link to the page using it is www.perleyhalladay.com/beta/index.html, and the XML file is www.perleyhalladay.com/beta/PhotoFlow/gallery.xml.  "magesFolder" is set to PhotoShow/images (relative to the location of index.html), and the images load fine...it's just that I've tried swapping thumbnail images to mix them up (even with the example version I downloaded), and it seems as though it's using the primary image for both the thumbnails and the centered version.  Is there a variable missing from the XML file or a PARAM missing from the HTML file that would enable/disable the use of thumbnails globally.
    Is this perhaps an undocumented limitation in the trial download version that would be remedied in the paid version, or is there something else amiss?

    If you are addressing some applicarion that someone created and is selling, you'll need to contact the seller to get details about their product.

  • How to find out where a variable has been used?

    How can I find out where a variable has been used within a package/interface/procedure?
    Should I check it using repository's internal tables?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    you have to make some queries to find variable used in which ODI object.
    like, it fetch the variable with scenario name and scenarion can serve your need.
    select v.i_var,v.var_name,s.scen_name from
    ODEV91119_ODI_WORK.snp_var v,ODEV91119_ODI_WORK.snp_scen s
    where

  • Creating new Variables/objects in OLAP Universe

    Hi,
    We are currently using BOXI 3.1 Sp2. We have defined BEX queries on which Universes have been generated (using MDX).
    We are then creating WEBI reports using these Unvierses. We are not able to add variables/objects at universe level as the XML tags do not parse. We are on FP 1.4. Is there any solution to this, or is it a Bug?

    Hi Ingo,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I did go thru the document you provided and did accordingly.
    But still the syntax does not parse. In some cases, it does parse, but does not do the required filter.
    Not sure what the issue is.
    We would also like to create new objects/variables using If then else formula and other Characteristics.
    For example, If company=XYZ then Measure-1000 else Measure.
    But we get syntax error. It appears that only measures can be used in an If-then-else logic, which is absurd.
    We have contacted SAP support on this, but they have not come back with a proper reply yet.

  • Testing Object Equality using Serialization

    Hey everyone! I was wondering if somebody could help me figure out how to compare two objects using serialization.
    I have two objects that I'm trying to compare. Both of these objects extend a common "Model" class that has a method getSerialized() that returns a serialized form of an instance, shown below:
              // Serialize the object to an array
             ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(1000);
             ObjectOutputStream oos;
              try {
                   oos = new ObjectOutputStream(baos);
                  oos.writeObject(this);
                  oos.close();
              } catch (IOException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
             //Deserialize array into a String array
             return baos.toByteArray();This Model class also has an equals(Model obj) method that allows for the current model object to be compared to a model object that is passed in:
            //Store both models' serialized forms into byte arrays
            byte [] thisClass = this.getSerialized();
            byte [] otherClass = obj.getSerialized();This is where things get a little funny. The byte arrays don't equal - one array is a byte larger than the other. If a byte-by-byte comparison is done, the arrays are equal for the first 15-20% and then not equal for the rest. If I deserialize the byte arrays back into Models and do a toString() on those models, I find that they are equal.
    I have a feeling there's something about the serialization process that I don't fully comprehend. Is there a way to properly implement object comparison using serialization?
    Thanks in advance!

    When you serialize an object, you also serialize the entire tree of references based on that object (except for transient variables). That tree is the complicated business you described there. Serialization stores all the objects in the tree, along with data that explains which objects refer to which other objects. Furthermore if the tree is actually a graph, and there are multiple ways to get to an object, it still only stores each object once. I don't see any reason to believe that all that relationship data would be encoded identically for a pair of trees that you deemed to be equal. And your experiment shows that indeed it isn't.

  • How to automate Sub variables in Essbase using windows scripting

    I am trying to update the automation of sub variables.
    The idea is that the user will set the StartMonth in the file and than based on the value the 3 sub variable for months will get updated.
    Below is the script and the Maxl
    Windows Script
    Set StartMonth = 01
    IF %StartMonth% == 01 SET TempMth1=Aug
    IF %StartMonth% == 01 SET TempMth2=Sep
    IF %StartMonth% == 01 SET TempMth3=Oct

    D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\bin\startMaxl.bat "D:\SetVar.mxl" "RF_Mth3" "%TempMth3%"
    Maxl Script
    login admin password on localhost;
    spool 'D:\Variables.log';
    alter application appname set variable $1 $2;
    spool off;
    logout;
    exit;
    However this isn't updating the varaibles.
    Can anyone tell me as to what I'm doing wrong.
    Thanks in advance

    I checked it.The variables are set fine but when I try to set variables in Maxl using
    alter application appname "RF_Mth1" "%TempMth1%"
    it doesn't like the "TempMth1%" member...gives a syntax error.
    I tried removing the double quotes,put in single quotes but that didn't work either.

  • Can I put a SQL query into a bind variable and then use it to output report

    Hi,
    Can I put a SQL query into a bind variable and then use it to output report?
    I want to create a report and an item "text area" (say P1_TEXT) which can let user to input a SQL query(they are all technical users and knows SQL very well). Then, I use a bind variable (that text area) to store the SQL statement. Then, I add a submit button and I want to use the following to output the report:
    select * from (:P1_TEXT);
    Do you think it is possible to do that? Any known limitations for APEX in this area?
    Thanks a lot,
    Angela

    You can, but make sure it's what you really want to do. Make sure you are VERY familiar with SQL Injection. Most people who know what it is, go out of their way to prevent SQL Injection. You're going out of your way to allow it.
    You can try using &P1_TEXT. instead of bind variable syntax. Bind variables are one of the best ways to prevent SQL Injection, which is why it's not working for you.
    Once again, I strongly urge you to consider the implications of your app, but this suggestion should get it working.

    I'd recommend asking questions about third party applications in the vendor's forum, not a Microsoft forum meant for admin scripting.

  • Copying Variables in BPEL using XPath Query

    Hi,
    I am new to BPEL and i want to know if it is possible to copy data from one variable to another using XPath Query in the <from> <to> tags, when the two variables are of different message types.
    I am trying to create a sample BPEL that would receive a String through the receive tag tied to one partner link (WSDl) and then invoke a different webservice using the <invoke> tag tied to another partner link (WSDL) by passing the received variable.
    I have pasted the BPEL File and the two WSDl files involved.
    My Issue is that when I send a soap request to the BPEL, it is passed as null to the webservice invoked.
    Probably because the copy tags don't work.
    Please help.

    Hi,
    Yes, it very much is possible.
    Xpath query provides a lot many data type conversion functions(string to int, string to date etc), which can be used in copying variables.

  • Generic Object Services using Web Dynpro

    I am using Web Dynpro for ABAP and would like to access Generic Object Services (GOS) to view attachments to an SAP Business Object.  Using the cl_gos* classes does not work when running WebDynpro as it uses the controls framework.
    How can I access the functionality of GOS from a Web Dynpro application?

  • Is there a way to find which DB object is used in which all pages

    Hi All,
    Is there any way by which we can find out which All Database objects are used in which all pages in an Application. Our Application is quite big and has lots of pages, So is there any report like functionality where I can check the DB objects used on page basis or any underlying view where we can get this information.
    Thanks,
    Vikas

    Hello Vikas,
    There are a couple of APEX Views which provide you with that information.
    If you go to Home>Utilities>Application Express Views
    following views may be useful to you:
    - APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_DB_ITEMS
    - APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_PROC
    There are a couple of others (for ex if you make use of flash charts, interactive reports etc) but if you start with the above you'll have a good starting point.

    Dimitri
