Variable selection in WEB wrongly transferred to initial variable screen

Dear all,
I am currently working for a company in the Netherlands where they use a lot of reports in the web.
Till one month ago, selecting a period from the list in the WEB didn't gave any problems.
However, at this moment while selecting a random period, the period is not correcly taken from the variable selection list (see: http://members.home.nl/repoortman/variable.jpg)
Example:
selecting reporting period 001.2006 via the selection screen
it is 'transferred/copied' to the initial variable selection screen as '001 06' while I expect as it should be '001.2006'.
The work around is to enter the period and year manually, but this is not a recommended action from user perspective.
Perhaps a coincidence, but this error is applicable since the last service pack upgrade: SAP BW 3.5, SP22, SAPKW35022.
How is this possible and how can I solve it (perhaps a setting in BW or a table?)

in WAD in the template properties you can set the parameter <b>Force Variable screen</b>
the same can also be pass as a URL parameter
VARIABLE_SCREE=X
this will make the variable screen to comeup irrespective of whether the variable is mandatory or not.

Hello,
I'm looking for a possibility to import values from a text file into a variable selection in Web reporting.
With BEx reporting in Excel this is possible, by clicking on the multiple selection button in the variable popup screen, and subsequently selecting the "Import from Text file" button.
However, this function seems not to be available for web-reporting...
It would be great if someone could help me out with this!

In our example we used a file with numbers for materials. This file is stored somewhere in a directory, to which SAP BI must have authorization to read.
The file looks something like this:

Not sure if you are saying you want the prompts on the same page as the results... however in 7.0 with BEx Analyzer, you can insert a text object from the design toolbar and assign it to the variable.... this way, lets say you run query for period 6, then the text object will display "6" on the same area where the query results are.

Prompts can originate from one of two places: either via Designer and using the @prompt functionality or while creating the report building a prompt in the Query Filters panel. If the prompt was built using the @prompt method, and all 10-12 reports are using that particular @prompt, then one change via Designer will cause all reports to reflect the new verbiage. If you built the 10-12 reports using the prompt in the second scenario, then each individual report needs to be opened, modified and then saved. If you must use the latter method, then you can open the first report, modify the prompt verbiage, then highlight the new verbiage with your mouse and hit Control-C (which copies that text to the Clipboard of your Windows system). Then go to the second report, locate the verbiage that needs to be changed, delete it, then Control-V (which pastes), and voila, some keyboarding strokes are saved....

Text upload in Web Template variable selection screen

In the Analyzer it is possible to upload text files in the variable selection screen but I can't find this feature in the variable selection screen for Web Templates.

I read in some sap feature paper that it will come.
Maybe it will be possible with modification, but that's only an idea.

Variables selection criteria in web

Hi all,
I creted a query (in query designer) and in the filter tab I choose: Display-value display: display as "key and text", then I execute the query in the web (user portal); I can choose the variables, for example a shop, but in the criteria selection don't appear the "key and text" of the shop, only appears the shop text.
Is there a option to include "key and text" in the variable selection crieria in the Web?

Hi,
First of all, I hope you know that the free selection tab is required only if you want to include/exclude specific document number, vendor, etc.
When you have given a range of vendors 1 - 10 and you want to exclude 8th vendor, then go to the Free Selection tab. Under field name, select Name and type the name of 8th vendor to exclude from this payment run. Do not forget to put the tick mark in exclude values. If you want to exclude more than one, after each name put a coma , to separate the names. This same operation can be done for documents as well. If you do not tick the exclude values, only that vendor/document will be paid through this payment run.

How to see selection variable in BEX WEB ANALZYER

I'm not able to see the values of selection variables in bex web analyzer report. pls help.

I am able to go to 'lay out' option in bex analyzer and set 'display text variables' to All so that I can display all the variables in report. Is there any similar option available in bex web analyzer.
I am able to see the variable selection parameters I have selected in 'INFORMATION' tab of web analyzer. But I would like to see the same variables on 'data analysis' tab.
Do I need to change any setting in order to display filter values that are entered during run time of the report.

Multiple BPS variables in Bex web report

I am trying to have a Bex report use the BPS variables in the web interface. I have managed to do so with 1 variable, but we have a number of variables.

I faced a similar issue (for what I understand your request is).
My requirement for the Variable Screen was to do:
1) place a link to a ppt file
2) remove buttons "Save", "Save As...), "Delete"... the standard buttons come when running the Query or WebTempl
We were using a Web Templ for BI7.0
I struggled trying to find out how to do it. My conclusions are:
- WAD, not sure we can accomplish it using a Web Template but i did not "play" a lot with the Web_Template Properties in order to know
- XHTML, I was told in my post HTML modification was the way, but I have close to nil background in HTML and couold not find the way of accessing the Variable Entry screen
For instance, I had to remove similar buttons and change some font size from a link on the Web Template (WAD), which was pretty straight forward. In WAD the buttons come with its own icon and to increase the Font size for that link we used XHTML (<font size="2" >). But the heck of the variable screen...well, i just did not get trhough to it to modify it in any way.

BO Webi: How to populate a variable with the set of static values for Graph

I have the data: Order number, Order Date, processing time coming from the SAP Bex query in the below format:
Order No    Order Date    Processing time (Days)
1                 Jan-2011      4
2                 Jan-2011      5
3                 Feb-2011      6
In BO webi report, I have to report the number of orders which were processed in <1day, <2days, <3days,...<10days in a graphical view. i.e., X-Axis: <1day, <2days, <3days,...<10days(10 static buckets for the processing days)
Y-Axis: Number of Orders.
The graphical output should be like below:
X-Axis: <1day, <2days, <3days,<4days,<5days,<6days,<7days,<8days,<9days,<10days
Y-Axis: 0, 0,0,0,1,2,3,3,3,3 (count(Order No)) (Cumulative count)
I am able to calculate the number of orders individually for each of the 10 buckets. But the problem i am facing is that I am not able to hold the 10 static bucket values in a variable to use it for the x-axis in the Graph, as these 10 static bucket values are not coming from the backend source.
I would like to know if there is way to populate a variable(to use it for the X-Axis in the graph) with the set of 10 static values.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

I think we can use the variable as X-axis in chart.. but Variable Qulaification should be Dimension.
can you try this?.
Using efasion universe
1) Select month and Sold at (unit price) , then run the query
2) create the variable V_Month ==If [Month]=1 Then "Month1" Else "Month2" (Note = Variable Qulaification should be Dimension)
3) Create the variable V_Sum= sum (Sold at (unit price))
4) create another variable V_Cumulative_Sum==[V_Sum]+Previous([V_Sum])
Now add V_Month and V_Cumulative_Sum in table , then convert to chart.. now you can add the variable V_Month as X-axis of the chart.

UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION when a user is executing a variable selection in WT

Hi Experts,
There is strange problem to one User, when ever she uses the Varibale selection for 0FUNCT_LOC in Portal, the systems throws the below UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION, in the Webtemplate screen.
When i Checked that is displayed in *Root Cause*, it is showing as follows.
" The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:

Here the problem is that, while others users have no problem with the same Webtemplate,that is there is no exception raised for Functional location for them (And also when i checked from my side in Webtemplate, there was no problem displayed at my side too )
But when We created the copy of the user id (With same roles and profiles) again it has showed the same problem again.
We also checked in the Roles and Authorizations for that user, but could find no problem.
Also the user is able to access the Function Loaction variable selection in Bex Analyzer without any problems.
But only when she uses the selection in Portal she is getting UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION.
Could anyone please help me how to trace where the problem is, and why it is happening only for that user.
And when there is no problem at Bex Analyzer side, why the exception is raised at Portal.

But it could not help me to fix the issue, the problem occurs to only one user, when she selects Functional Location variable (Hierarchy Infoobject) in Portal. For me and others we do not have problem, but when i copy replica that user id with problem, and execute at my side i too see the same problem, any idea why?
Do we need to do any user specific configuration at portal side, for case of Hier Infoobject variables incase?.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Webi SelectionScreen based on BEx variable doesn't display dates correctly

Hi,
BEx query has a date variable. When this BEx query is executed in BW, the date variable shows a calendar in F4 selection screen.
Webi is built based on this BEx query which is using the BEx date variable. When Webi is executed, in the selection screen, list of dates are displayed instead of a Calendar. Also, the list doesn't not contain all the dates.
Please suggest how to get the calendar in the Webi Selecton Screen for Date field or atleast suggest how to get list of all dates in the webi selection screen.

- Removed the reference to the LOV (which i think would remove the reference to getting values from BW)

Key and text replaced with "???" in variable selection after SPS Upgrade

I have a problem regarding the variable screen.
We recently upgraded to SAPKW70021 and SP19 in Java. After this a problem appeared in web reporting and variable selection. When users are prompted to enter a value for fiscal year for example, the input help displays "???" instead of years. When you choose an "???" randomly from the list and add to your selection, the year is displayed correctly. The same issue is present with company code selection and other user input variables as well, the selection list is filled with "???" for both key and text.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Note 1368055 describes this issue. You need to implement the mentioned java patch for the BI components and set the parameter mentioned in the note to solve this issue.
