What is object name in VBA to get query variable values? Is it possible at all?

   I am, not sure why you have the function run there but here is the correct syntax and some help comments.
Function SAPBEXshowTextElements(Optional selectGroup As String, Optional atCell As Range) As Integer
u2022     Use this to automate documentation of query in the workbook.
u2022     Return value of zero indicates that no errors were encountered. Otherwise, function returns number of errors encountered.
u2022     If atCell is not specified, the active cell is used to determine which query to return Text Elements for.

Pass variable values with VBA and BI 7.0 funtions to Query
At first a remark u2013 Iu2019ve read a lot of threads saying that passing values to a query can be done by using VBA code only. Iu2019ve tested it but Iu2019m not sufficient with the new BEX 7.0 API and therefore I use a mixture of BEX 7.0 funtionality and VBA. I create a BEX 7.0 design item button passing the values to a query u2013 I hide this button somewhere on the sheet or on a hidden sheet and I then raise the event to click the button from VBA code. Works fine and the maintenance is easier if something changes in the API in the future again.
How to start:
Switch to design mode in BEX Analyzer:
Implement a BEX 7.0 design item u201Cbuttonu201D
Click on the button to implement the properties
Make the input for the commands
data_provider = dataprovider_1
cmd = process_variables
subcmd = var_submit
No comes the part with the variables u2013 Letu2019s assume a query has 4 variables but you only want to change 1 with the button u2013 an organizational unit for instance.
Make a range somewhere in the excel with the following structure:
Name    Index   Value
VAR_NAME_1      1       Variablename
VAR_VALUE_EXT_1 1       variablevalue
Value should contain the name of your variable of course and u201Cvalueu201D the value of your variable
Set a name for this range with EXCEL functionality but without the header:
Back to the properties of the button: Insert the name of the range with the variables in the field Command Range:
If you have more variables to process you can of course enhance your Filterrange!
In the left upper Corner you have a name for your button:
Now you can raise the button-click in vba like this:

How can i transfer the system variable value through DTW in SBO

Hi,
I want to transfer the system variable("Excisable" in the Item master data in the SBO 'India' database) value through the template by the DTW.
But i don't have any template consisting of this system variable.
So please suggest me that how can i transfer the value of this system variable(Excisable) and by which template.Please tell me any constraint if it is on the value of this variable.

You should build string with following syntax and pass it to the start point:

Change a SWF's variable value through Java

Hi, all!
Does anybody know how to change the value of some SWF (Flash file) variable in Java?
What I need is to read a SWF that I made, then change a variable value from Java, before I output this SWF.
I believe this is possible through bytes handling, but I don't know how... Has anybody already done it?

Odi_creating variable- values through a query

hi,
i am using odi 11g.
I create a variable pkg_variable.
And going to the refreshing tab ,i gave the logical schema.
i give a query "select #pkg_variable from dual".there is an error saying" invalid character"
what am i supposed to do.

Use database logical schema, also ensure that there are no characters in the end like ';' which is incorrect in ODI
for example:
under oracle logical schema

i am using JSP custom tag. I am unable to pass attribute values through variables.
<invitation:invdetails invid="<%=invid%>"/> The value is passing as <%=invid%> ,not value of the invid.
But i am getting throuh the fllowing

It sounds like you need to set the <rtexprvalue> tag to true in the TLD for your tag. If you do this the tag will read in the value you are trying to pass to it.

The first part is right -
1) drag a text element onto the page, at a location in which you want the variable value to be displayed
2) On the left hand bottom page - go to the web item properties for the text element
3) scroll down to the specific properties for the item - in that uncheck the first two check boxes - display general text elements & display static filter values
4) in the next item in the properties (List of text elements) click once on the box where List is written and then clcik on the small browse button that appears.
5) in the window that opens, in the element type field, select variable/variable value as key (as per your requirement) and then under the element ID field type in the technical name of your variable that you want to display.
click ok and save your template and try executing it.
See if this solves your problem.

Pass variable values between Applications,but not through URL.

Greetings,
My objective is to pass a value from one page in one application to another page in a diferent application.
I am aware through some posts i ahve read in the forum that it is possible to pass the value through URL,
however besides being unable to do so i don't want the user to be able to see the value in the url.
Also it may be a big value and there are URL size limitations as well as not looking pleasant.
I have considered keeping the value in a database field, but i would like to use this only as a last resort since the value is temporary and when it gets to destination page it will disapear.
Anyone is aware of a solution for my problem?

I don't know if the APEX_UTIL. [SAVEKEY_NUM|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b32258/api.htm#sthref2583] / SAVEKEY_VC2 functions work across apps, but you could try. The other thing you could try is setting a cookie using the [OWA_COOKIE|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28419/w_cook.htm] package.

To pass new session variable value to stored proc before running a report.

Below is summary of the report requirement -
Database level design
1. Created a view and a global temporary table (GTT)
2. Created an Oracle package procedure to accept from and to business dates on basis of which it will fetch, process and populate the GTT.
Repository level design
1. Created a business model containing the view and the GTT (mentioned above)
2. Created two SESSION variables "from_dt" and "to_dt" to be initialized by their respective init blocks. Each of the variable is initialized with a DATE column value (of type DATETIME) from a database lookup table. I have also set the option "Enable that variable to be set by any user" for both variables.
Query for these variables :
from_dt = select from_date from <table>
to_dt = select add_months(from_date,12) from <table>
Presentation level design
1. Using a text box, i display the default/initialized values of these variables like this -
Current business date:@{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.from_dt']} Future business dt:@{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.to_dt']}
Dates get displayed in YYYY-MM-DD 00:00:00 format
The text msg displays these default dates and allows the user to specift different date range for which i create prompts as shown below.
2. Using any random two columns of date type from the business model, i create two date dashboard prompts with labels "From Dt" and "To Dt".
i select Calender Controls for both; setting Default To = Report Defaults.
The Set Variable is set to Presentation variables - such that pv_from_dt maps to "From Dt" and pv_to_dt maps to "To Dt".
3. i create the report using the business model created above. In the report "Advanced Tab" => "Prefix" field i specify the following -
SET VARIABLE from_dt='@{pv_from_dt}',to_dt='@{pv_to_dt}';
Note : The logic here is to display the default dates and allow user to specify different date values which will be stored in presentation variables.
If the user does specify different "from dt" and "to dt" values, then using the presentation variables, i want to "write" back these new values to the corresponding session variables mentioned above.
If the user does not specify different date range, then the default/initialized dates must be considered.
I also display the default and new date values in the report title.
Back to Repository level design
To execute the stored procedure that will load the GTT before running the report I need to pass two date parameters to the stored procedure on basis of which it will fetch data, process and populate the GTT.
In the Connection Pool --> Connection Script Tab --> Execute before query, I wrote the below query using the repository variables FROM_DT and TO_DT to execute the procedure -

v_to_dt := VALUEOF(To_Dt);

Now when i try to run the report i get the following error :
[nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 23006] The session variable, NQ_SESSION.to_dt, has no value definition. (HY000)..
Need help on this.
Is it possible to "write back" a new value to a session variable ?
Any other alternatives.

Sandeep, I found a several topics where users describe saving values in DB through stored procedure or function. For example, [How to store OBIEE presentation level variable values in DB |http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=892006] I tried it and get an error
*10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 14551, message: ORA-14551: cannot perform a DML operation inside a query ORA-06512*
It's not a BI error. This error are generated by Oracle DB. If I write next:
SELECT MyPLSQLFunction(p1,p2) FROM DUAL
I get the same error.
Oracle doesn't allow DML operations in SELECT.
Did you relalize this feature yourself? Where did I mistake?

Getting JS variable value in ABAP variable

hi experts,
I am fairly new to ABAP programming so please bear with me. To my issue.
I am creating a BSP which will read from the tax number table in CRM into an itab.
Next it loops into an wa and then passes each tax number through a javascript/JQuery API to validate the number.
The JSON response then comes back and is stored in a JS variable.
I am unclear how to get this into an ABAP variable so I can handle as needed. I have read some posts but they seem to be created for those ABAP experts which I am not there yet.
Any help is most appreciated.

I am still stuck where I try to create the hidden field, assign the JS variable value to it and then retrieve on server side using ABAP.
I read some places where it mentions accessing in the controller but this is not specific enough for me to know what to do. Here is a snippet of my JS/html code.

I have a few large documents written in word 2003 format and now I work on them under word 2007.
Such large documents containing lots of special characters. I want to change them into Microsoft 3.0 equation form（It is required by the team). I find no way but using function AddOLEObject and Sendkeys through VBA. Common characters can be added
to equation by function Sendkeys, but the return value of Asc() or AscW() for "double arrow", "in" , " not greater than " such special characters or signs, to name but a few are the same ,i.e., 40 And I cannot distinguish them.

Following Cindy Meister's Advice ,I use MathType SDK.
The sample in MathType SDK in the following may be meaningful,but I do not know how the MTEF for cos^^2Theta, MTEF for sin^^2Theta and MTEF for 1 are generated .
It looks much complicated,and I searched the docs in MathType SDK to get a explanation.Is there any function to generate them? I want to use this method to change commaon text mathematical signs( in special character table) and Greek letters and characters
with subscripts and superscripts to Microsoft 3.0 equation form.

i have facing a problem that i want to pass the value of a variable that i had calculate in a procedure like

so i want to send the variable value v_basic as a parameter through form to report...and simlarly other variables values which i have calculate in procedure....
