Database connection variable is not well defined

The following error message is in SIL_InsertRowInRunTable.log in Informatica WorkflowLogs directory
Can someone help me to look where to start to troubleshoot?
Thanks

You are correct.... I was able to run the DAC processes successfully with the old application.... 7.9.5.
I guess bad timing hit me bad. I just had loaded the older version and was about to continue... Then the new version came in which supported the latest PeopleSoft version and had Budgets and Projects module in it.
Now when i uninstalled and re-installed, i hit another problem where something went wrong with Informatica.... I had Key recognition issue.... So i reformatted my laptop all over and started from Fresh.... I was able to load everything and everything was smooth until i hit this other problem now....
I surely have an option to go back to old version but then i loose some of the new functionality.... So before i am compelled to go there, i want to give this a try as best as possible.
Will Oralce Support the SR in Oracle Metalink if we have not purchased the Application? My client has only purchased the OBIE Enterprise Suite.... But i am playing with this Application to get an understanding of this product.
Thanks,

• Database Connection Error - Can not start Parser

Hi Experts,
I installed CR 2008 and made a Connection to the BW.
Then I created a Report. When I want to preview the Report the following error message appears:
Data-Connection-Failure: BAPI Error #:0
Failure at the start of the Parser : timeout during allocate /CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'
So I installed CR to another machine with antoher operating system and SP 2.
Here the same error appears.
What can I do to fix this?

• Not well defined classpath when using XML-RPC

Hello,
im trying to setup a webservice using XML-RPC
I get real time ClassNotDefined exceptions, and all i can suppose, i haven't set up the classpath correctly.
I must inform you, that i've allready put the xerces.jar, xmlrpc-1.2-b1.jar (and so on...) at my (JAVA_HOME)\jre\lib and (JAVA_HOME)\jre\lib\ext folders. I use the following statements :
import java.io.IOException;
import org.apache.xmlrpc.*;
import org.apache.xerces.parsers.*; //for the server-side
import java.io.IOException;
import java.util.Vector;
import org.apache.xmlrpc.*;
import org.apache.xerces.parsers.*; //for the client-side
I've allready worked with SAXParsers and jdom, but i think that the classes i used there are distributed with the standard jdk-1.4 version i use.
So, any suggestions? How can i setup my classpath for the XML-RPC programms, if that's the problem?
Any help would be very very appreciate
Thank you

Thanks, I'll have the dev team take a look and put in a fix.

The file: AutomaticPeriodUpdateIBatisImplDBHandler.java contains an iBatis call on line # 154:
--> list = sqlMap.queryForList("getGamesWithAutoPolicy", null);
from the map file:

SELECT gameid, policy
FROM update_policy

Here is the code for the entire method that uses this transaction:
============================
public List getGamesWithAutomaticUpdatePolicy() throws BIGDatabaseFacadeException
List list = new ArrayList();
try
sqlMap.startTransaction();
list = sqlMap.queryForList("getGamesWithAutoPolicy", null);
sqlMap.commitTransaction();
catch(SQLException sqle)
throw new BIGDatabaseFacadeException(sqle);
finally
try
sqlMap.endTransaction();
catch(SQLException sqle)
throw new BIGDatabaseFacadeException(sqle);
return list;
============================
I know that this should be handled as an automatic transaction, but I tried adding the start, commit and end transaction commands in my desperate attempt to fix this problem (but it still didn't help).
Here is my code for creation of sqlMap -
--> sqlMap = SqlMapClientBuilder.buildSqlMapClient(Resources.getResourceAsReader("sqlMaps.xml"));
Except for the fact that occasionally connections are not closed, overall my database access using iBatis works very well.
In the course of trying to fix this problem I've worked to update all my lib files to the latest versions, and here is current status:
My iBatis lib file: ibatis-2.3.4.726.jar
My JDBC driver: postgresql-8.4-701.jdbc3.jar
Required commons files:
commons-dbcp-1.2.2.jar
commons-pool-1.5.3.jar
Note that I tried adding --> commitRequired="true" to the transactionManager in sqlMaps.xml, hoping it might help, but no joy.
Please help me figure out why my database connections often do not close. Thank you very much!

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by "close the session." I believe iBatis is supposed to take care of all that automatically. My understanding is that all the user does is create the sqlMapClient and then use it along with various map files to query and update the database. iBatis does the rest.

• LabView 5.1 and Database Connectivity Toolkit Compatibility?

I am looking to serve some data from a LabView 5.1 application up to an Oracle 8i database. I have looked at the current Database Connectivity Toolkit (which uses ADO technology), but am not sure if this will be compatible with LabView 5.1... is it? If not, what are my alternatives? Are older versions of this toolkit available?
Thanks!

Also, could someone touch on how forward compatible LabView applications are? In this scenario, I have the same 5.1 application which now requires some database connectivity. Since the SQL Toolkit is no longer supported, I would be left with upgrading LabView to 7.0 and using the Database Connectivity Toolkit. How well (in general) do earlier LabView applications convert to newer versions?
Thanks again!

• Capturing database connection parameter

Hi,
I want to capture the database connection parameters in Java collaboration defination running on eGate5.1.
In eGate4.5, I can do it by calling this method: this.jCollabController.getEWayConnectionConfigAsProperties(String s), but I'm not sure how to do it in eGate5.1 since their framework are quite different.
Appreciate for the help. Thank you.
Regards,
Alex

How about using XA Transaction timeout parameter?

• Database connection dialog no longer available

I want to add a connection to the connections in SQL Developer. However I cannot as I cannot access the database connection dialog.
I tried in different ways :
- plus sign above the connections
- editing an existing connection
- menu option : editing - properties when standing on a connection
- menu option : file - new and choose for new database connection
I do not get an error when clicking on these options. I just does not start any action.
When starting up SQL developer I see this in the log pane : "Exception firing addinsLoaded to oracle.jdevimpl.vcs.VCSManagerImpl$6@7d91275b"
Maybe this error is related?
I know as a workaround you can import a connection from an XML file. Tried that, it works, I see an extra connection in the list but I do not manage to use it to connect to the database.
Would be great to access the database connection dialog.

The specific error you have listed is related to versioning support - do you use this? If not, then I would suggest switching off versioning support in the preferences (Tools > Preferences > Extensions) and trying again.
If that doesn't work, the error you list has been reported (along with a number of other errors, which you may or may not be getting) in Start-up error "DatabaseConnections has no JNDI context so cannot list ..." - do you have an ssoShell.exe running? If so, does killing it help SQL Developer?

• XE Database Connection

Dear Experts:
I had installed the Oracle 10g product, and I had created three tables and filled them with some data, i tested the content from the SQL windows, and all is OK. even more i installed the ODBC in the same server where I installed the XE database and i could test the connection correctly.
Now i am trying to do the same ODBC client connection from another terminal in the network in order to test this part of my testing configuration and it doesn´t work.
I saw a little difference when i´d tried to create the ODBC if i am on the server i see an XE ODBC driver, but if i´m on another terminal i ONLY see:
Oracle in OraClient10g_home1.
I followed the same procedure, i completed the fields with the same information but if i test the database connection it does not work.
If You have any idea about what am i doing wrong or missing, i´ll be very grateful.

Dear Mr. Paul M.
Really considering your initial comment i went back thru my steps and i repeated the Oracle 10g Client installation procedure and in this case i selected the complete installation not the small one, as in the previous case and i got the SQL*Plus softwarfe and i´d tried to connect according to your advice to the XE database, and i got the following answer
ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:listener does not currently lnow of service requested in connect descriptor.
I had used the SYSTEM user for this testing, and at the same time i had tested even using the IP address for the "Jost String".
In other research line i tested the connection, creating an ODBC one and using as
Data Source: XE
Description is not important
TNS Service Name: XE
and User ID: SYSTEM
Then i had pressed the test botton
and in the Oracle ODBC driver Connect window i loaded:
Service Name : XE
User Name SYSTEM
and the PASSWORD employed on the Server.
NOTE: Al this information agreed completely with that entered in the Server.
getting the following connection error (which is the same as previous one).
Unable to connect
SQLState=08004
[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]Ora-12154:TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
One additional comment, i have not loaded the lmhosts file neither the host file in the terminal, neverthless i can see the server thru the Network explorer and there appear the Server and even i can see a Shared Printer on them.
So, if You have any idea i´ll be grateful again.
Sincerely. Hugo COLOMBO

• Open Database Connections

I've ported some code over from LabVIEW7.1 to 8.6 which updates a table in a MYSQL database. The problem is that the new code leaves a database connection open after execution (while the 7.1 code does not). I would like to know if anyone has seen this behavior and if they know a fix, and if not, how would they go about debugging this problem.
I am using the MYSQL ODBC connector, version 5.1.
Some observations:
1. This vi is part of a TestStand 4.2 sequence, and the sequence writes results at the end of testing using TestStand's built in functionality to do this. What's notable is that unlike the vi, the database connection used to write the results is closed properly.
2. I've used the "trace" tool in windows ODBC panel but the information is overwhelming large, cryptic and doesn't contain recognizable strings. To reduce the size of the file I tried to start and stop it so that it was tracing only during the execution of the vi.
This didn't work - the tool did not record any information.
3. Stepping through the vi...
a. The database connection problem does not appear.
b. The error cluster is always empty indicating no errors have ocurred.
4. No errors happen during normal execution.
5. I've added delays of 5 seconds between some of the database vi calls and still the database connection is left open.
The vi that's causing the problem is attached.
Thanks in advance.

You have a clean error in the middle, but i dont see how that should cause this. I reacted a little to the Select query using double quotes instead of single ones, NID="***"; instead of NID='***';
Might that be a reason?
Unpacking that sequence made it easier to read, i might add.

• J2ME and database connectivity

We are currently looking at ways to connect a pda to a server on a local Intranet. I have been told that the J2ME Wireless Toolkit does not include JDBC for database connectivity (I have not verified this). Does anybody have any ideas?

yeah, of course you have to send the sql statement to the servlet. The servlet then connects to the DB, exeutes the statement and puts the result in some format, you can transfer to the phone since you cant serialize the java.sql.ResultSet directly. Maybe you would transform this to a String, each field delimited by a special character, each row delimited by another. make sure these characters wont appear in the fields ;-)
The more correct way would be creating some XML structure from the DB result and transfer this but this can get very large and XML processing on mobiles is not recommended for large XML information.

• Database connection error ORA-01034 oracle not available

Hi
Can some one help me out from this probs. I have a oracle8.15 enterprize edition running on solaris 5.6. It's been running fine since few months from deffent clients. But today its giving ORA-01034 error when i try to connect to database from cliend side. I found that database is up and running and we can access it on server. But from client i am getting the above error. Oracle documentation shows " The operating system variable pointing to the instance is improperly defined".
I would aprreciate if some body helps out of this problem.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Oracle uses the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID variables to create a unique shared memory hash key for each instance.
This problem can happen if your environment variables are set differently when the database is started compared to the user who is getting the error. The error indicates that the executable (sqlplus, svrmgrl) can't find the shared memory segment, which means that the ORACLE_HOME variable is not set correctly somewhere.

• Designing a well defined database access javabean

Hi All
Can you please help me with the basic layout of how
a well defined javabean accessing the database should look like?
thread safe too..
It should have the following basc methods
JavaClass get(String id)
JavaClass[] getAll()
void save ()
void delete()hope that gives you an idea

Hi Jos
Lets say we have a bussiness class named Car then basically the Car class would
be represented in the database as
carId
carName
carModel etc..
I Know how to get this data into a javabean but i do not know if it is correct
Example
public class Car
private Connection conn
private String carID
private String carName
private String carModel
/* getters and setters .....*/
public Car get(String id) throws Exception {
String sql = "SELECT * FROM Car WHERE carID = " + this.carID;
//and so forth with deleting a car saving it etc...What i would like to know is what is a good standard of coding such a class to be thread safe
and use minimal resources?
the parameter would be in this as it would be the current class used by lots of clients
