Varient for selection screen in Webdynpro ABAP

Dear Experts,
We all know that in abap editor selection screen we can save the selection criteria in form of 'Variants'.
I need to something similar in webdynpro. And I was requested not to use the database tables for saving the data.
Is it possible? If Yes then please let me know.

POWL - Power Work List
Isn't POWL - "Personal Object Work List" ? Although often interchangeable referred to as "Power Lists".
However, if Thomas says "Power Work List" I think we're going to have new variant out there to search on!
NB the POWL is very "Powerful" (sic) in this respect as you can even add your own OVS to the selection criteria. Unfortunately I have found that the POWL selections and selection process are perceived as less than obvious by end users. So much so that where we are looking at pure reporting functionality we are instead looking to BW to provide a web reporting interface.
For some reason (perhaps they've been using SAP backend reports too long) users seem to want to do their selection and then see the results - unless it's in the form of a dashboard - in which case they are happy to drill down into the results. It is like they don't trust the system to have used the correct selection criteria.

I dont think there is automatic saving of varients in web dynpros just like normal selection-screen.

Xavier Reddy Penta sent me this question via email and I answered it directly yesterday. Here is the solution that I provided to him, so that it is stored with the original question:
I believe your problem is that you are not setting the value into the range correctly. You are setting it directly into the field symbol of the range like such:
<FS> = L_STRING2.
But ranges are deep objects. They have four fields: Sign, Option, High, and Low. This is from the online help:
1.     sign of type c and length 1. The content of sign determines for every row whether the result of the condition formulated in the column is included or excluded in the entire resulting set for all rows. Evaluable values are "I" for include and "E" for exclude.
2.     option of type c and length 2. option contains the selection option for the condition of the row in form of logical operators. Analyzable operators are "EQ", "NE", "GE", "GT", "LE", "LT", "CP" and "NP" if column high is initial, and "BT", "NB" if column high is not initial. With the options "CP" and "NP", the data type of the columns low and high must be of the data type c, and special rules apply for entries on the selection screen.
3.     low of the data type defined after FOR. This column is designated for the comparison value or the lower interval limitation.
4.     high of the data type defined after FOR. This column is designated for the upper interval limitation.
So when you are moving the value into the field symbol you are setting it into the sign column.
Here is an example of how you can access the components of the range:

How to put Mandatory option for selection screen fields in ABAP Queries

Hi Experts
Can anyone tell me how to put mandatory option for the selection screen fields in ABAP Queries.
Manually I had written code in the At Selection Screen option in infoset to display error message if that field is blank.
But I need to display the selection fields with the tick mark (obligatory mark).
How to do this?

Change dropdown values for a field in webdynpro abap

Hi All ,
I need to change dropdown values for a particular field ( Tax code ) in webdynpro component (FITE_VC_RECEIPTS) when selecting expense type. Right now Tax code values are coming with respect to a company code but i need tax code with respect to other company code for two personel numbers .
How can i change dropdown values for this taxcode in webdynpro abap . Please suggest.

In production taxcodes are coming fine but wrong in dev and quality . ( Australian taxcodes are coming in production for dropdown values but new zealand tax codes in dev and quality )
I have not started doing any changes . Is there any configuration part to change tax codes that can reflect in expense claim portal . Please help ..

Parameters in selection screnn in webdynpro abap

Hello Gurus,
We have a requirement to maintain parameters in selection screnn in webdynpro abap.
now we are able to create parameters using wdr_select_options componet usage of method add_parameter_field.
we need f4 help also for this parameter.
how can we pass exporting parameters to this method.
Could anyone please suggest solutions?
and if possible send me the sample code for this requirement.

How to write HTML code in Web Template for selection screen

Hello All,
Is it possible to write a html code in the web template html tag so that the output of the html is displayed in the selection screen, i.e before the execution of query.
I know that we can write html, which will be displayed once the query has been executed, but can it be done for selection screen.
if so, how.
My exact requirement is : to display a 2-3 lines of text in the selection criteria screen - sort of, various options available to user for entering values in the selection screen. I was thinking of putting this text using HTML code in the selection screen.

No, unfortunately nobody replied to this thread. So i assumed it is not possible to modify the selection screen thru html code.
Btw, as my requirement was to provide user with multiple answers on the selection screen. I did the validations on customer exit and popped an errror dialog when applicable.

How to set default variant for selection screen

Hi,
I want to make one variant as default for selection screen for one user.
For eg., take COOIS. For the selection screen, i have 3 variants. But i want one variant to be default. Thsi is not for all users. Thsi is for particular user.
I am not seeing any way to do this. please help me..

Hi,
If you are using Z program then you can ask your developer to get Variant name Runtime from Parameter ID.
This means you decide a Parameter ID name : ZVAR in your Z program and ask your developer to load variant each time your Z program loads.
Now, second step will be using SU01 transaction you can set value of ZVAR in Parameters tab for the user. This value will be the variant which you created for this user.
This will solve your problem and you can make n number of variants and assign it to different users.
