Vbscript crop() with photoshop

Hi Guys,
can someone helps me about method crop() with vbscript.
I never get it work..
Set app = CreateObject("Photoshop.Application")
     set idoc = app.ActiveDocument
idoc.Crop( Array(25,0,125,100),0,100,100,72)
Than you for help.
nems.

On many versions of Photoshop there is a folder that has examples, this is in the application - scripting - sample scripts.
This is the example for crop using vbs.

' This script will iterate through all of the layers of a document. If the
' layer is not a text layer, the layer's color values are inverted. If it
' is the background layer, also rotate, then crop the entire canvas. In
' order to invert the entire document, each layer must be inverted
' independently (or flattened beforehand).
' Before running this script, create a document with a few non-text layers.

  • Using iPhoto 08 with Photoshop elements

I am a recent Mac convert and I'm loving it.
However, I need some help understanding how best to use Photoshop Elements in conjunction with iPhoto 08. I was thinking I could use iPhoto to keep track of photos and do basic edits and link to other iLife apps etc, and use Photoshop to do more indepth editing.
I would like to know the most efficient way to open photos from inside iPhoto, into Photoshop. And how to get them back into iPhoto.
I realise I can drag a photo and create a copy on to the desk top and then open it with Photoshop, do some editing, save it to a/any folder, then import it back into iPhoto but…
    1) is there a better way to do this?
    2) I'm concerned with filling up my hard drive with multiple copies!
I'd be greatful for any help, Thanks

Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • "Does Bridge come with Photoshop if I buy the CC single app?"

Question from a Customer…"Does Bridge come with Photoshop if I buy the CC single app?"

Actually whether you consider the Suite a unified concept or not, if you are using a variety of Adobe products Bridge does the job well. Here's a great testimonial of what it does according to one user:
Bridge is the coordinating hub of the Creative Suite. Synchronizing color management settings for all suite programs is done from Bridge, and can only be done from Bridge, to take one important use.
Bridge displays actual thumbnails of many more file types than Finder or Explorer. It also allows instant play of sound or video files more readily than the native OS file managers.
Bridge allows direct access to file metadata, to embed copyright information and keywords where appropriate (e.g., for corporate logo vector and raster files). It also displays the fonts used in an InDesign file, the swatches in an INDD or AI and the output plates (including spot color plates) they use.
When managing the assets for a design project, Bridge allows quick and simple sorting, rating and custom labeling (with color flash indications) of assets. I can rate images according to whether they are rejects, possibles, for review by client, or approved. The filters built into Bridge allow instant isolation of only the approved images or designs in a folder, only the rejects (for deletion) or only files with certain ratings, no matter how many files it contains. It recognizes aspect ratios, so if I only need a landscape or a 16:9 image in a folder of hundreds of images, I turn off the aspect ratios I don't need.
Once filtered, the remaining visible files can be selected and copied, moved, or deleted without affecting the rest of the contents of a folder.
Collections are a massively useful feature. One of my clients is a performing arts center, and in a season we turn out dozens of ads, flyers, brochures, web banners, playbills, billboards and other collateral using the same assets over and over. These assets are organized by artist and/or show on disk, but I set up each season's repeating assets as a Collection in Bridge, so that I just have to open the collection and drag and drop these assets into new INDD, AI, PSD, HTML (in Dreamweaver), FLA or AE projects without having to navigate from folder to folder picking up individual files.
Bridge's Favorites is another place I stack frequently-accessed folders, such as stock photography, backgrounds, and top-level folders for active projects.
Assets can be divided into subfolders, but a quick toggle of "Show items from subfolders" exposes all of the assets in a single view while maintaining their organization. I will typically keep AIs, PSDs, EPSs, stock photography and client images in separate subfolders within a project. When I'm ready to start pulling assets into an InDesign layout, I toggle this on and simply drag what I need into the layout.
Bridge comes with Adobe Camera Raw built in, which is many times faster than using Photoshop to adjust jpegs or tiffs for things like tonal range, white balance, cropping, spotting and sharpening, and is non-destructive.
One tremendously useful Bridge function for InDesign CS5+ users is the "Show linked files" feature, which opens all the linked files in a layout into a single view, regardless of where they are physically located. I often use this when doing alternative layouts from a client-approved mockup for a campaign, to be certain the same assets are used in each piece, or when creating a motion graphic or interactive piece for the campaign in After Effects or Flash.
The batch and image processing scripts built into Bridge automate things like creating web-ready small jpegs from multiple images, renaming large numbers of files in place or by copying to an alternative location, creating sets of PSD, png, jpeg or other file types from an assortment of image files, and so on.
Bridge is so much a part of my daily workflow that on my main workstation I have one monitor dedicated to it almost 100%. Bridge just sits open 24/7, ready for use. I would run at half speed without it, no question.
Not bad for an old file browser.

  • How can I obtain a version of Print Studio Pro that works with Photoshop Elements 13 (64 bit)?

How can I obtain a version of Print Studio Pro that works with Photoshop Elements 13 (64 bit)?  The advertising refers to Print Studio Pro 2 but all I find available to download is version 1.35.

Thanks - I did notice that the 2 was a superscript on one site but on another (I think the one for the Pro-10 printer) it was definitely a 2 in line with the rest of the text and separated by a space (at least on my browser).  At any rate, I suspected something of the kind and will simply use Photoshop Elements 11 when I want a pattern print until the change is made.
If you have an inside line to Canon you might also suggest some changes to their Image Garden program, specifically its handling of DVD label projects.  It has several themes and within each theme several layouts.  As far as they go these are fine but they do not give nearly enough flexibility.   The boxes for insertion of images are useful as is the simple procedure for rescaling the image so it is cropped in varying ways while staying within the fixed box.  However, it should be possible (a) to relocate the boxes on the page and (b) to resize and reshape the boxes - probably by a control which would become available by right-clicking on the box.  For example, there are times when the user might want to include a full 16 x 9 frame shot as one of the images, and in general the aspect ratios of the provided boxes do not permit this.
I have over the years preferred to use Word for this purpose after setting up masks to expose just the printable area of the DVD or Blu-ray disc, setting up the margins so that the center of the disc is in the horizontal center of the page, and finally introducing text and pictures and adjusting the font size of blank lines above the disc to line everything up properly in the vertical direction.  A typical layout might involve one large picture, located so the center hole and the curved outer edge do not block anything important, or two pictures side by side, or four pictures centered vertically (to minimize the effect of the outer edge of the disc) but possibly of different widths (so as to make both close-ups and wide scenes optimal on the same disc label).  The text then goes above and below the pictures.  All of this works perfectly so I probably wouldn't use Image Garden very often for this purpose, but the inability to resize and relocate the boxes must be very limiting for others as well.
Some of the layouts have image locations severely reduced by the edge of the disc.
As I said ... if you have an inside line to Canon .. but if not, please excuse the length of this post!

  • How do you create a 800 x 200 pixell slide show with Photoshop Elements 8?

I have a banner for a web page that measures 800 x 200 pixels. I would like to create a slide show in the whole volume but I have been unable to discover where to change the standard size of the slide show window to 800x200 in Elements 8. Can anyone help?
    Al

Many thanks for your reply. I edited a series of photographs to 800x200 as
you described and then attempted to create a slideshow in Slideshow editor.
I get a good horizontal fit in the slide frame but there are black bars top
and bottom since the frame is more than 200 pix high. My question really is
how do I create a 800x200 slide frame that the edited photographs will fit.
Subject: How do you create a 800 x 200 pixell slide
    show with Photoshop Elements 8?
In the slideshow editor interface click once on your image in the main
window - you will see a bounding box appear together with editing options.
Click on the More Editing button and when your image opens in full edit
    select the crop tool.
Set width to 800 px and height to 200 px and resolution to 72
Drag out your crop rectangle and move your image to the position you want -
this avoids image distortion but you will sacrifice parts of the original to
    create a banner.
Press Ctrl=S to save and check version set to save an edit without affecting
    the original.
Press Ctrl+W to close and your cropped image should automatically pop up in
    the slideshow editor.

  • Opening iPhoto 8 JPG file with Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw editor

I have all my photos stored in my iPhoto 8 library. I have both RAW (CR2) and JPG images. iPhoto 8 opens the CR2 images with Photoshop Raw editor, but I want to use iPhoto to open JPG images with the Photoshop Raw editor using Camera Raw.
How do I do this without having to export JPG images and opening from Photoshop?
    Thanks!
    SP

    SP:
If you're trying to use the RAW editor on a jpg it can't be done. It will only work on the RAW file. If you are wanting to edit the RAW file from within iPHoto with CS3 then set CS3 to be the editor of choice in iPhoto's general preferences. Next go to the Advanced iPhoto preference pane and select the option "User RAW when using external editor". That will open the RAW file with Photoshop's raw editor. When you finish you MUST save the new file to the Desktop and import as a new file.
For some general info on using Photoshop with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.

This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

When I edit photos in PSCS4, rename them, and save them to the original iPhoto album, they do not reappear. When I use the "finder", I can see that they are saved to the modified folder within iPhoto with their new filename. Is there a way to save them so that they will reappear in the original album?

  • Stretched photos after editing with photoshop CS5

When I crop a photo with photoshop CS5 and then go and review it in Iphoto the picture looks like the unedited version in the "events" but when i double click on it it appears streteched. How do I fix this?
Also, when I edit a photo with CS5 (for ex: cool a picture if it is too warm) then go to look at it in iphoto it looks like the unedited version and once I click on the photo I can see the edited version.

The following is how Photoshop should be used from within iPhoto:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.

NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Problems with Photoshop CS3

I have had CS3 for a few years and it has never worked properly.
First I thought it was because I was using an old 2002 Mac Powerbook with just enough ram to run OSX.4
I recently got a new Macbook Pro and still have all the same problems. I have found Adobe Customer Services to be useless - I have spent dozens of hours trying to deal with them and they are a waste of time. I contacted the shop I bought it from and they said as much about Adobe support.
So I am running cs3 (updated) in Snow Leopard. I am having the trouble with Photoshop, It often crashs, it won't quit unless I force quit, it won't open by dragging files to the Photoshop icon, and many tools don't work; crop tool, photomerge, auto batching, layers won't flatten/merge and more.
I have clean installed it 3 times, reinstalled my OS three times. I was so fed up that I tried to contact Adobe again this week but it was a waste of time, they took all my details and assured me they would call me back and I never heard from them.
I installed CS5 for a free trail and that worked perfect but now the trail is over.
Can anyone help me iron out the problems I am having with Photoshop - the other programs seem to working OK, well, Indesign is fine, though illustrator is a bit iffy.
    Many thanks
    John

Do you have any third party plug-ins installed?
Have you recently validated all your fonts in Font Book?
How diligent are you with regard to System Maintenance?

Whenever I edit an iPhoto photo using Photoshop, iPhoto crashes when I try to import it back into iPhoto. This happens whether I export the photo, Photoshop it, and re-import it, or whether I use iPhoto Preferences to select Photoshop as my editor. I can import other photos into iPhoto, just not photos that have been edited with Photoshop. Help would be much appreciated!

  • Aperture image-control compared with Photoshop?

I'm looking to get Aperture 2. I've been using iPhoto as a library, and Photoshop to control\doctor images. How does the Aperture image-control compare with Photoshop's? I'm not thinking so much here about fancy plug-ins, just basic, but subtle, color, contrast, cropping controls ... especially dealing with the highlights and shadows.
Any info from a user would be most appreciated,

  • Create Object with "Photoshop.Application"

Cannot create an object reference to Photoshop CC using Excel 2011 and vba, is there missing files with the standard installation?

    Hi;
I have been writing VBA code for many years and have always used Windows up till now, I am attempting to do things on a MAC I can easily do in Windows. I have for years used macros written by myself referencing Adobe Photoshop and also Microsoft Access from within Excel. I have used what is termed 'Late binding" to create objects for the above applications. I understand Access is not useable on the MAC but I believe I should be able to use the macros I have written with slight modifications for file locations. Typically nearly the first executable statement in these macros are as follows
    Dim appRef as Object
    set appRef = CreateObject("Photoshop.Application")
the second statement when executed allows me the opportunity to use Photoshop (Versions 7 -> CS5 have been successful) to reference all the procedures and functions that would appear on the desktop when using Photoshop.
According the scripting PDF manual for CS6 they use the same syntax for the VBScript examples. I believe this should work with Photoshop CC. I think when I installed the cloud version I opted for "Typical" installation" instead of maybe selecting "Custom Installation". How do I achieve the use of the above technique? As stated earlier I have used this since Photoshop 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Robert Firman

  • Cropping in Photoshop / Viewing in Lightroom

I created a special crop in Photoshop then saved as a PSD. When I view it in Lightroom it distorts to the window shape.
It also distorts when creating a Web Gallery.
    What to do?

    >I hope this is the right thread. I confess that I have not been able to work out exactly what split toning does and how to achieve its effects. I cannot find anything much about it in the help sections. Can anyone please point me in the right direction.?
Nope wrong hread. You would be better off the start a new one with a tite reflecting you question re: split toning, even thought the subject was brought up here, this thread is more about cropping and veiwing he crop as the title says.

  • Pixel Dimensions after Cropping with "Use Photo Ratio"

Why don't Pixel Dimensions (and Document Size) change for Image Size after cropping with "Use Photo Ratio" like it does after cropping with "No Restriction"? Using Photoshop Elements 10 and Crop Tool defaults.

Thank you all. I think I figured out how to crop using "Use Photo Ratio"
with Crop tool so that I can ensure that my photos are cropped only
proportionately and PSE 10 doesn't upsample pixels:
    1) Select Crop tool.
    2) Set "Use Photo Ratio" in Aspect Ratio setting in Options bar if not
    already set.
    3) Make crop selection as usual but don't complete (commit) crop.  Will
only be able to crop proportionately.
    4) When ready to complete crop, change Aspect Ratio setting to "No
Restriction" which blanks out width, height and resolution setting.
    5) Complete (commit) crop as usual.
Photo will be cropped proportionately, width and height will change
automatically to cropped size and pixels will not be upsampled avoiding
lose of detail, that is, PSE will behave as though No Restriction had been
specified from the outset. Blanking width and height before making crop
selection forces either Custom  or No Restriction setting which means that
PSE will let me make non-proportional crop.
PS. IMHO I think making "Use Photo Ratio" force upsampling is NOT a good
"design feature" when you are not warned about it and are not given a
choice to not make it upsample.
