.vcs fatal parse error in iCal

Hi,
My university created a website to export my schedule to a .vcs file. The file looks like this:
BEGIN:VCALENDARVERSION:2.0METHOD:REQUESTBEGIN:VEVENTORGANIZER:MAILTO:[email protected]:CZ-6DTSTAMP:20111121T122820ZUID:DOOInleidingG3On1G3OnSEQUENCE:1DTSTART:20120220T113000ZSUMMARY:HC G3On-1: InleidingDESCRIPTION:Inleiding (G3On)CATEGORIES:LUMC,HCDTEND:20120220T123000ZBEGIN:VALARMTRIGGER:-PT15MACTION:DISPLAYDESCRIPTION:ReminderEND:VALARMEND:VEVENTEND:VCALENDAR
Does anyone know why this doesn't parse? The error i got in the console looks like this:
iCal: Incorrect version for vCal file. Got '2.0'iCal: Fatal vCalendar parser error !
If I remove the "VERSION:2.0" the file gets parsed, with errors in the console stating that it doesn't know what the VALARM tag is and obviously the alarm isn't working then. I searched this forum and the web for solutions, but I can't find the problem with this small snippet. Does anyone know how to fix this snippet?
Thanks!
edit: If I change the filename to .ics it kinda works, but the alarm doesn't work and I have to accept the event.

Hi Hans,
The file extension should be .ics, or the version should be 1.0. Version 1.0 is correct for a vCalendar (.vcs), version 2.0 for an iCalendar (.ics) file.
The alarm doesn't get imported because this is a meeting invite. If you change the method to PUBLISH the alarm is added. I guess this is an iCal design choice to not force alarms on all meeting attendees.
Do you want it to be a meeting invite with an organiser?
Best wishes
John M

  • Designer.xml Fatal Parsing Error

    I ran into a little snag working with a new web page. When I
    fired up DreamWeaver CS4 it gave a fatal parsing error associated
    with the designer.xml file. DreamWeaver would sit and spin its
    wheels and would not load. After trying several things to fix it,
    and with an extreme desire to not go through a complete reinstall,
    I decided to rename the designer.xml file and restart DreamWeaver.
    Cool part is it worked. DreamWeaver created a new designer.xml file
    and all seems to be functioning properly.

    Thank's

  • .vcs event not appearing in ICal

    I downloaded an event that came in a .vcs format. When I open it and add it to my ICal it is not appearing in ICal. Can anyone help?

    Where did the original VCS file come from? Some systems will create files, but in a format that doesn't match Apple's format (or the standard).
    Specifically, if there is a space between the colon and the data value in the vcs file, then ical will complain:
    Download the VCS file attachment to your desktop. Double-click on it, ical should see it, but then complain. Check "console.log" via the Console application, and you'll likely see an error like:
    2006-11-02 11:21:27.256 iCal[725] Incorrect version for vCal file. Got ' 1.0'
    2006-11-02 11:21:27.256 iCal[725] Fatal vCalendar parser error !
    Note the space prior to the 1.0 in the error message. Technically, that's a bug in whatever software which produced the VCS message, as there is not supposed to be a space (IIRC), but why ical is so picky as to not allow/ignore the space, I don't know.
    Using TextEdit (or similar) you can remove the spaces after the colons in the file, and it will import successfully (unless you're seeing a different problem).
    I have no solution for doing this in any automatic way -- anyone have suggestions?

    With an error like "This section must have an Identifier line." it seems like you need a line
    Identifier "foobar"
    or something like that.
    Try something like this:
    Section "ServerFlags"
    Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"
    EndSection
    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Yourkeyboard identifier"
    Option "XkbLayout" "us"
    Option "XkbVariant" "Classic Dvorak"
    EndSection
    With your keyboard identifier from
    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Keyboard0"

  • Caldav parse error

    Hi,
    I am trying to sync with a caldav calendar on the iPhone OS 3.0beta. The calendar synchronizes without porblems in iCal and Thunderbird. On the iPhone I can create a new event and the iPhone sends this event to the server. But it cannot retrieve the events from the server. Changing the event on the iPhone duplicates the event on the server.

    Is the problem on the iPhone or the caldav side?

    Looks like iPhone OS 3.0 didn't fix this.

    Ummmm, what did you edit Xorg.conf with? It looks like there's some weird encoding or something causing it to look like "EÂxtensions" instead of "Extensions".
    Maybe you could try opening xorg.conf in a basic editor like vi or nano, deleting the "EÂxtensions" bit, and just retyping it.
    That's not a pro viewpoint or anything, but it could be somewhere to start.

  • XML parsing error registering a JSR168 portlet

    Hi, I'm trying to register a deployed application as a portlet provider, and I'm getting an XML parsing error (full details below). Basically, when I complete the Register Provider wizard, it falls over with "Illegal Namespace prefix: xml".
    I'm guessing this is coming from the service description: the response from WSRPServiceDescriptionService.getServiceDescription contains xml:lang="en" attributes on many of the elements.
    Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Should these attributes not be present, or should the portal be able to parse them?
    I'm using the following versions:
    JDeveloper Studio Edition 10.1.3.2.0.4066
    Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2
    Oracle Portal 10.1.4

    Did you specify J2EE 1.3 (Servlet 2.3/JSP 1.2) when you created the portlet and did you compile the project with JDK 1.4.x...?

    Pierre,
    Depending on the object "myLastFile", the method openDlg might not even exist (if the myLastFile object is not a File object, for instance). And I do not see any need for the myLastFile anyhow, as you are presenting a dialog to select a file to open. I recommend using the global ChooseFile( ) method instead. This will give you a filename as string in full path notation, or null when no file was selected in the dialog. I am not sure what your ExtendScript documentation states about the return value for ChooseFile, but if that differs from what I am telling you here, the documentation is wrong. So, if you replace the first lines of your code with the following it should work:
    function openXMLFile ( ) {
        var filename = ChooseFile ( "Choose XML file ...", "", "*.xml", Constants.FV_ChooseSelect );
    While writing this, I see that Russ has already given you the same advice. Use the symbolic constant value I indicated to use the ChooseFile dialog to select a single file (it can also be used to select a directory or open a file - but you want to control the opening process yourself). Note that this method allows you to set a start directory for the dialog (second parameter). The ESTK autocompletion also gives you a fifth parameter "helplink" which is undocumented and can safely be ignored.
    Good luck

    Good Morning,
    We're having issues parsing several hundred PDF files located in two separate Record Center sites. All other PDF documents in the environment are being crawled and parsed without issue. I've verified the permissions for the Search service account, but that

  • RE: [iPlanet-JATO] Parse error in JSP parser in IAS6

    Hi Todd,
    removing the defaultValue="" attribute works.
    I have not got around to testing the SP3.
    BTW. The reason the default value tag was added was to stop Null pointer
    exceptions being thrown in the
    HrefTag.beginDisplay().
    buffer.append("?")
    .append(field.getQualifiedName()) // "FooHref"
    .append("=")
    .append(URLEncoder.encode(value.toString())); // "/foo"
    If you don't explicitly add a defaultValue="" to the jsp HREF tag ,
    HrefTag.getDefaultValue() returns null.
    Our hack was to add the following in HrefTag.java.
    if (value==null)
    value=getDefaultValue();
    //===========================
    //IP6 ADDED THE FOLLOWING LINE
    value = (value== null? "":value);
    //============================
    Is that pheasible work-around ? This eliminates the need to add
    defaultValue="" to all HREF tags.
    Also, I might as well point another behavior that we encountered with HREFS.
    In ND, if a HREF's display Field was bound to a column in DataObject and the
    particular record had no value, no URL would be rendered on the page.
    The HTML would look something like this( from memory ):
    <A
    HREF="../AppName/PgMsgMain.hrfSubject_onWebEvent(hrfSubject).994226335140? +
    ND URL STUFF"></A>
    In JATO by default a url get displayed with "null" as the link. ie.
    <a href="../AppName/PgMsgMain?PgMsgMain.hrfSubject= + URL STUFF">null</a>
    Our hack was modify the HrefTag.doEndTag method to not append "null" to the
    buffer.
    if (displayed)
    buffer.append(getBodyContent().getString().equals("null")? "":
    getBodyContent().getString()))
    // IP6 HACK buffer.append(getBodyContent().getString())
    .append("</a>");
    writeOutput(fireEndDisplayEvent(buffer.toString()));
    Is there a better way to do this?
    thanks

    Hey Kostas--
    I personally haven't seen this kind of error. Have you tried simplifying
    the expression inside the href tag? For example:
    <% Object foo =
    viewBean.getRptAssignmentMatch().getvwAssignmentMatchModel().getValue(
    vwAssignmentMatchModel.FIELD_ASSIGNMENT_ASSIGNMENT_ID);
    %>
    <jato:href name="hrefASSIGNMENT_ASSIGNMENT_ID" fireDisplayEvents="true">
    <%= foo %>
    </jato:href>
    Also, is there a different version you could upgrade to? iAS SP3 includes
    the Jasper compiler from Tomcat, which should behave quite differently.

    Hi Todd,
    removing the defaultValue="" attribute works.
    I have not got around to testing the SP3.
    BTW. The reason the default value tag was added was to stop Null pointer
    exceptions being thrown in the
    HrefTag.beginDisplay().
    buffer.append("?")
    .append(field.getQualifiedName()) // "FooHref"
    .append("=")
    .append(URLEncoder.encode(value.toString())); // "/foo"
    If you don't explicitly add a defaultValue="" to the jsp HREF tag ,
    HrefTag.getDefaultValue() returns null.
    Our hack was to add the following in HrefTag.java.
    if (value==null)
    value=getDefaultValue();
    //===========================
    //IP6 ADDED THE FOLLOWING LINE
    value = (value== null? "":value);
    //============================
    Is that pheasible work-around ? This eliminates the need to add
    defaultValue="" to all HREF tags.
    Also, I might as well point another behavior that we encountered with HREFS.
    In ND, if a HREF's display Field was bound to a column in DataObject and the
    particular record had no value, no URL would be rendered on the page.
    The HTML would look something like this( from memory ):
    <A
    HREF="../AppName/PgMsgMain.hrfSubject_onWebEvent(hrfSubject).994226335140? +
    ND URL STUFF"></A>
    In JATO by default a url get displayed with "null" as the link. ie.
    <a href="../AppName/PgMsgMain?PgMsgMain.hrfSubject= + URL STUFF">null</a>
    Our hack was modify the HrefTag.doEndTag method to not append "null" to the
    buffer.
    if (displayed)
    buffer.append(getBodyContent().getString().equals("null")? "":
    getBodyContent().getString()))
    // IP6 HACK buffer.append(getBodyContent().getString())
    .append("</a>");
    writeOutput(fireEndDisplayEvent(buffer.toString()));
    Is there a better way to do this?
    thanks
    Kostas

    Hey Kostas--
    I personally haven't seen this kind of error. Have you tried simplifying
    the expression inside the href tag? For example:
    <% Object foo =
    viewBean.getRptAssignmentMatch().getvwAssignmentMatchModel().getValue(
    vwAssignmentMatchModel.FIELD_ASSIGNMENT_ASSIGNMENT_ID);
    %>
    <jato:href name="hrefASSIGNMENT_ASSIGNMENT_ID" fireDisplayEvents="true">
    <%= foo %>
    </jato:href>
    Also, is there a different version you could upgrade to? iAS SP3 includes
    the Jasper compiler from Tomcat, which should behave quite differently.

    Hi all,
    has anyone come across the following error in iPlanet?
    [02/Jul/2001 12:21:32:1] error: Exception: SERVLET-compile_failed: Failedin
    compiling template: /ras/ras/voyager4/pgAssignmentMatch.jsp, Parse errorin
    JSP parser. Missing endtag: /jato:href
    Exception Stack Trace:
    java.lang.Exception: Parse error in JSP parser. Missing endtag: /jato:href

    at com.netscape.jsp.JSP.parseUserTag(Unknown Source)
    at com.netscape.jsp.JSP.parseTag(Unknown Source)
    at com.netscape.jsp.JSP.parseNext(Unknown Source)
    etc etc.
    We have tested the page in Resin and it works fine.
    It seems the JSP parser has a problem with the following type of HREFtags.

    <jato:href name="hrefASSIGNMENT_ASSIGNMENT_ID" fireDisplayEvents="true"
    defaultValue=""><%=
