Verizon Contact Transfer; Does it work as well as it seems it should?

Getting my phone within the next few hours and am wondering how many of you used this app to transfer your contacts onto your new phones?? It seems simple and easy to do, maybe too simple and easy. Any information you may have on this app and its ease of use would be appreciated.

I did not use it but some have complained that their contacts didn't sync exactly the way they were in their previous device. Not sure if this is the case for everyone though. You have other options for transferring your contacts depending on the device you are switching from...it really just depends. VCT may actually work perfectly fine.

Verizon Contact Transfer and sorting contacts

I used Verizon's Contact Transfer and it worked great. I've went into Settings : Mail,Contact,Calendars : Contacts Sort Order and Display Order and have set both to First,Last. Contacts are displaying by first name but are sorting by last name. I cannot get them to sort by last name.

When I try calling someone it beeps twice and says 'call failed' also when someone tries calling me it does not come through. Also SMS/MMS cannot be sent or recieved. Only mobile internet is working

Restart your phone by holding the power and home button until the Apple logo appears. If that does not solve the issue contact your cell provider so they can resolve the issue.

You need to edit the audio file of the song to speed a song up. If you have GarageBand '11 on your mac, try this:

VZ Contact Transfer will not work on Wi-Fi; Synch with iTunes sets up mail

VZ Contact Transfer goes into a loop with Verizon iPhone connected to your Wi-Fi and does not work.
Your wi-fi network will come up right after registering VZ iPhone. You could wait until later to allow it to connect.
Otherwise, disconnect router to force iPhone onto Verizon 3G network and proceed. If you click the change phone number button, it will get you a new access code to your old Verizon contacts from Verizon back up. (Back up before signing up on iPhone)
Took me hours of fooling around to learn this on another bulletin board.
Also after hours of fooling around to set up mail, synched iPhone thru iTunes to mail, calendar, etc and the email accounts set themselves up.

I don't have an answer for you but from my experience iOS WiFi syncing has always been a hit and miss affair (more miss than hit I'm afraid). I have gotten to the stage where I rarely use the WiFi sync. It is just quicker, easier and much less stressful to use the USB cable. I am having the same issues with all the iOS devices in our family which includes various models of iPhone, iPad and an iPod Touch and have been having them since WiFi syncing was introduced (in iOS5 ???). And then I have not even mentioned my favorite iTunes syncing messages: "Waiting for items to copy" and "Waiting for changes to be applied"!
iTunes is always extremely quick and eager to pick up the devices but as soon as I click on sync it shows "Looking for iDevice" and then the device disappears. I have found that initiating the sync from the Settings app on the device prevents this issue.
It does however seem as if it is worse with Windows 7. I did not have so many issues with my previous Windows Vista PC.

Worker does not work so well

     I am trying to decrypt an encrypted video in my opne-source project SparrowPlayer(https://github.com/yatsen-yang/SparrowPlayer),and I found that decrypting the video may block the main thread for several seconds.It resulted in stopping renderring UI assets on the stage, which is unacceptable.So I think 'Worker' may do some help. I followed the example code of the online API about Worker(http://help.adobe.com/zh_CN/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/system/Worker.htm l). I tested and it worked well.
     But I found that if I embed the BGWorker.swf in other class like com.xx.Test instead of in the document class, 'Worker' did not work so well.Sometimes main worker could not communicate with bgworker even that the state of bgworker is running.
The example code followed:

    So it confused me. Logically, if the state of bgworker is running, it should mean that main worker can communicate with bgworker, and it works well if you embed the bgworker swf in the document class.But if you embed the bgworker swf in other class, you will have problem sometime.
    Finally, I found a solution.I embed the bgworker swf in other class instead of in the document class, and when bgworker initializes succesfully, it send a message to main worker.Main worker communicates withe bgworker immediately if it receives the message coming from bgworker.Now the problem is solved.
    I want to know why the state of Worker not reliable when I embed the bgworker swf in other class.Is it a bug of Worker?

We would need to debug it to definitively understand the problem. I would recommend filing a bug with a simplified example that demonstrates the problem. If you post the bug number here, I'll escalate it to the engineering team.
Also, have you tried multiple browsers? We can always do that triage here, but it would be an interesting data point.

Verizon iPad 2 Does not work in Alaska

Well, yesterday I found out my Verizon iPad 2 will not connect with Verizon’s system in the State of Alaska (I work here but live in Oregon). No where in Verizon's or Apples web sites could I find a disclaimer that an entire State would be off limits.
It's not that there's not a signal to be had, Verizon iPhones work fine. It's that if you are a non contract customer ie: month to month, there policy will not allow you to connect.
Apple said they will refund my money and Verizon already has (Yes they allowed me to set up an account through the iPad while in Alaska & then denied me access.
I have not been able to contact AT&T to see if they have the same restrictions on service.
They (Apple/Verizon) should have a disclaimer about excluding a whole state from service before purchase...
& yes I consulted their coverage maps before buying... Every indication is there is coverage.

Verizon uses roaming through Alaska Communications System (ACS), which is probably why the month to month Verizon contract isn't compatible. Yes, Verizon should have a disclaimer, Apple on the other hand has no control over the cell phone carriers rules.
Although if Apple will refund you your iPad purchase that's good.
I don't believe AT&T has the same restrictions, they have their own towers and do not roam off an Alaskan phone company.
Verizon is coming to Interior Alaska by 2013 though, they are getting permits for putting up towers.

Contacts: How does it work? When does it delete contacts?

I'm trying to get myself familiar with how iCloud's->Contacts feature works, and am trying to make sure that I don't accidentally delete my entire contacts off of my device.
Here is the scenario, with no contacts yet synced with iCloud:
I have 10 contacts on my device and I turn "ON" the iCloud->Contact's switch in Settings. This syncs with iCloud and it now has the 10 contacts.
I turn "OFF" contacts and my device asks me if I want to keep the contacts on the device, or to delete them. I choose to delete them. Now I have 0 contacts on the device.
This is where I'm getting confused. Two different scenarios.
Scenario 1)
Since I have 0 contacts, if I turn the iCloud->Contact's switch back to "ON", it seems to sync from what is on the iCloud servers, and those 10 contacts are returned back to my Contacts app.
Scenario 2)
Since I have 0 contacts and the iCloud->Contact's switch is "OFF", I decide to add 2 new contacts. This makes the number of contacts on my Contacts app to 2. I then turn the iCloud->Contact's switch back to "ON". It says that my new contacts will be merged with iCloud, and it seems to sync from the iCloud servers and I get the 10 contacts from the server as well as my two new contacts, so I have 12 contacts in total.
What I'm getting confused about is Scenario 2. I understand what a merge is, so I understand that my 2 and the iCloud 10, make the 12 contacts. When would a contact be potentially deleted from iCloud? I don't want to lose any contacts and just want to know in what particular scenario would I lose my contact?
Scenario 3)
If I have iCloud->Contact's switch to "OFF" and I keep the contacts on my device: If I delete a particular contact, and then switch iCloud->Contact's switch to "ON", that contact returns.
Scenario 4)
If I have iCloud->Contact's switch to "ON": If I delete a particular contact, and then switch iCloud->Contact's switch to "OFF" and then back to "ON", that contact is gone.
Is the only time that a contact would disappear from the Contacts app be in Scenario 4 (or if you delete it manually from iCloud.com)?
Are contacts once sync'd to iCloud on iCloud there forever and just merged with whatever new items appear on the Contacts app? They will never be deleted unless in Scenario 4?

Someone has to know.

5800 XM - Contact Bar does not work

Hi,
After initially binding 4 contacts to my contact bar, i swapped to shortcuts and then to basic.
I now want to swap back to using the contacts bar, but when I select that option from settings, the 4 contacts buttons are grey, with the one on the left larger than the others, as if already selected.
Touching any of the first 3 blank buttons brings up blank menu options below it, touching the fourth brings up the menu for some reason and then closes it again.
I have seen a referece to this issue when using the nokia search feature on this site, but the link to that thread is broken.
Is there any fix for this?

I had this problem (on v20). I fixed it by powering up by holding the red+green+camera shutter buttons, then reinstalling the firmware, then doing a reset again. It may have begun working after the first reset, but I did all three things.
I have lost the guitar game but have gained some search icons, including a Vodafone search icon. The main menu has swapped around - applications is now the first icon, and the games have now appeared in their own folder. There is an empty folder called 'MfE' too that has just appeared by doing this.
The IMAP client still keeps giving up with various IMAP servers. This was the problem I had hoped might get fixed by resetting. I can get the headers, but occassionally the application just stops and disappears and then SMS notification stops until I recycle the power.

One of the frequencies on Verizon FIOS TV does not work, and I can't get certain HD channels

So I've had two techs out to check the box outside my house where the wire comes in from the pole. The problem is I cannot get HD TBS, TNT, Fox Sports 1, Comedy Central and many other channels. These channels come in over the frequency that kicks out a fault (I saw when the 2nd tech came in and hooked my coax from the box outside my house directly into the tester)
The tech confirmed it was not coax in my house, but connections outside. he changed those connections and then all of a sudden it worked.
Two days later, not working again.
Verizon is incapable of figuring this out or setting me up with an appointment that is not in the middle of the work week at 2pm (i've already taken two days off from work to try and get this fixed...shall I just take a week long vacation and devote it to them?)
Anybody ever run into this and figured out a way to fix it yourself, since Verizon hasn't a clue?

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.
Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.

I cannot open more than 1 Tab per window. The "+" does not work as well as the item "New Tab" from the File drop-down menu. What shall I do ?

I have just removed FireFox and reinstalled it again on my Mac Book PRO.
When I open FIreFox I canNOT open more than 1 TAB.
I click on the "+"on the top line of the window. It should open another TAB but id does NOT.
I click on the File item in the top menu bar. A drop-down menu pops up. I click on "New Tab" and nothing happens.
How can I get more than 1 Tab on the same window ?

We have seen reports about a Community Toolbar extension causing this issue with not being able to open a new tab.
So if you have such a toolbar then start with disabling it.

4.0 does not work too well...

Since downloading 4.0, I've had lots of problems with page loading, Trackpad gestures, scrolling. having to click a new page to make it active, pointer does strange things on any page and a host of other minor but none the less irritating issues.
I've had to revert back to 3.6.16 to get the browser to work again.
Sorry but I've gone back to using Safari as my default browser until these issues with 4.0 can be resolved.

Repeated clearing of the history and cache seems to have cleared up the problem. I still do not know why it reacted that way though.
