Versamail on Treo 700p using Verizon WIreless/ Mac Mail

I have recently purchased a Palm Treo 700p and am attempting to set up the email in Versamail (comes with Treo). I use .Mac as my main email. I have set up the account with Mail Service as Apple Mac, Protocol as IMAP, Username (mac id), password (mac password), incoming mail server is mail.mac.com. This works fine for receiving mail. However, I can't find the right combination for the Outgoing mail server. I'm trying outgoing.verizon.net without any luck. Have trid to put in the authentication under my Verizon account username and Password. Am not getting the 530 Authentication error message, but instead am getting "the server did not recognize you username/password".
Which username/password would the SMTP verizon server be looking for???
Any other thoughts (this is way too hard...)

So, since I cannot delete this second message and it's now too late to modify it, I have posted yet a third to clarify information that did not appear in the first but was included in the second:
Your issue arises because your .Mac account does not reside in the Verizon domain. The Verizon server is looking for something like [email protected] [or something similar] and a matching password. By switching from the Verizon smtp to server to the .Mac smtp server, which you are routed to via your Verizon-provided pathway, you should be able to send mail.
Okay, that does it. Now I'm off to get some apparently much needed sleep.

I just purchased a TREO 700p and iSync is saying that this is not a supported device. It says that SPRINT'S Treo 700p is supported, but not VERIZON'S. That's absurd.

Laptop won't reconnect to home wireless FiOS connection after using Verizon Wireless connection

I have a laptop that I've had connected to my home FiOS Internet connection without problems in the past. Now, when I leave the house and use my Verizon wireless stick to connect to the Internet and then return home the laptop no longer connects to the home wireless network. Any ideas? I've already:
Rebooted the laptop
Rebooted the router
Viewed the settings for the laptop connection on the router info page

If your internet connection at home is working fine using a wired connection (using an ethernet cable) to the router and you're only having trouble connecting wirelessly, then I would recheck the network settings on your laptop:

The important part of this process is ensuring that you're selecting the right network name (SSID) for your home residential wifi network and entering the corresponding encryption key.

G4-Tiger -When I use OS Classic, Mac mail stops sending mail.

My G4 Flatscreen has latest tiger, and latest mac mail, but
when mail is open and I open classic and macwrite pro to get old documents, mail will not allow me to send or reply to email. it receives incoming mail fine.The Reply button just barely blinks, and the new mail button does nothing.
3 trips to Apple Genius Bar only told me that the "genius" are only good at IPod repair for teenieboppers. They had no clue. I dragged in the G4, and after an hour they gave up.
The only fix, after running all the fix programs, and archieve and install was a total erase and reinstall of Tiger and hence Mail. Now I am stuck, how do I get old documents that AW6 will not recognize, and Text Edit butchers so badly that it is useless. I have had to wipe hard drive 4 times in 5 weeks. this is getting very old.

I think that you give less credit to 'most users' than they deserve. Speaking in generality confuses people and provides them little or no information. It also makes it appear that the person making the statement has no solid information and is merely "hand waving".
Although 'most users' may not understand the technical details they don't want to be talked down to. They would rather be given the information and then digest it at their own rate. Saying that almost anything can cause interference with your wireless network will cause a lot of misunderstandings.
I looked at the sites that you have in your post and they have a lot of detail especially compared to the statement I questioned.
Let's examine your original statement:Almost anything that emits a signal and or using High or Low Frequency signals can possibly affect your Network if the conditions are right.Now, let's say that there are 2 people talking face-to-face. They are emitting a signal. As they talk they use both high and low frequencies. Their conversation will not affect the performance of your wireless network.
That statement can certainly cause fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) in those less technical that are using or contemplating a wireless network.
Last but not least, In my opinion there are ton's of users that decide they want wireless technology, without doing no more than plugging in and expecting it to work without doing any homework on the pro's and con's of the technology and the use of the same.
Sure, I agree with that. I don't think that has anything to do with this discussion though.

8830 Verizon Wireless E-mail problem

Had to do a hard reset on my 8830 Verizon Wireless device. Can't set up e-mail to send. Message says: "No message services configured. You will only be able to Save Draft."

If you go into your Email Settings,
Go into Services..
Click on Send Service Books.
That should do it! (That's what ended up resolving my issue, after talking to Tech Support at verizon)

Cant use POP with mac mail from yahoo

everytime i try and set up my POP account from yahoo into my mac mail, it says the server isnt responding. tried it weeks ago and now today. my trial of .macs expiring soon and i need to import my email onto my desktop. anyone know how to make it work???

I'm having the same problem. Have been running Mac Mail for several months using POP with Yahoo without any issue at all. In just the last day though I haven't been receiving any inbound mail, but I can send outbound. I've called Yahoo and they say they don't support Mac Mail. They've tried to help, in fact found one setting at their end that was off, but they don't have the tools to troubleshoot Mac issues very well. I suspect it's a problem at Yahoo because I have two other non-Yahoo accounts that are coming in through Mac Mail just fine. So I'm going to call them back and see if they can find anything else.

Iphoto will suddently only use entourage, NOT Mac Mail

Hi,
My iPhoto(5) has suddenly started using entourage for the email function even though I do not use entourage as my regular mail app. I use the Mac Mail app and have never used entourage and when I went to the prefs in iPhoto to change the email app, it wouldn't let me check Mac Mail(it was shaded out) I've never had this problem before. I haven't made any major changes on my ibook at all so I'm at a complete loss. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!! I would like to use mac mail...but I am getting frustrated with it. initially I couldn't get it to send either from mac account or pop account although it would receive from both. I received the smtp error message other threads are reporting. I solved the mac mail issue thanks to another thread (changing the port to 587), but I have tried several of the fixes found on my POP account to no avail...receive but won't send. I suppose I could stop using my POP account and just use the mac account...but that would require admitting defeat I've only been a mac user for weeks and I'm totally sold on it....figured out everything but this so far.....

Is there a way to add my hotmail account to mail? When I try it asks me for the incoming and outgoing mail servers and I don't know the information. I would also like to add my yahoo account.

Versamail Auto-sync feature not working with AOL mail w/Treo 700p (Verizon)

I'm having a problem with the Auto-sync feature not working with my 700p (verizon) with my aol mail. It had worked perfect since May 2007. Just started having problems End of April 2008. Sounded like I needed another incoming mail server from aol other than: imap.aol.com, aol told me they also use pop.aol.com, that isn't working either. I get an error message that says "last auto-sync attempt failed."....Anyone else having this issue? I'm trying to decide whether to get rid of my aol mail of 14 yrs and use other address to continue using versamail 3.5 or keep aol and use Verizon Wireless sync. I do not like how wireless sync sends mail to outbox and then syncs vs sending right away. Please help...

I am having the EXACT same problem: Palm 700p, Versamail, AOL, Verizon.
It started about 1 month ago. The GET still works, but AUTO-SYNC does not...After spending hours on the phone with Palm tech support, and reaching someone who said AOL had changed something in their servers. They suggested TRYING Chatteremail, another Palm product. I have tried it for 20+ days out of the 30 days you get for free. It works pretty well, but NOT every e-mail that goes to my AOL acct is making it to my phone. The thing that's great about Chatter is that can be "live" all of time. Not auto-syncing every 15 minutes.
It's very frustrating....The same way the Versamail just stopping auto-syncing is very frustrating. With Versamail, sometimes I did not even get the error message. If Chatteremail worked consistently, I would bite the bullet, and pay for it, but to pay for it, and have it not pull down all the e-mails, all the time is not good.
I spoke to Palm Tech Support in N. America today, and they say the way AOL uses IMAP servers is in a non-traditional way, and it's very hard to deal with. They suggest ditching AOL, and using something reliable for syncing purposes like GMAIL. It's just hard to cut the cord. The man I was on the phone with knew of my problem, and he solved it by getting rid of AOL. It's just tough, since so many people have the e-mail address for me.

there seems to be some indication when you click on Smart Phones on left, that Coming Soon is Palm, but I don't know if that's going to be downloadable for 700p, or Palms moving forward. Or how far away that is.

VersaMail vs. Verizon Wireless Sync

When I first started using my Treo 755, I used Verizon wireless sync for e-mail. Then it seemed to always be crashing my phone so I switched to VersaMail version 3.5.5. This doesn't crash my phone but seems less functional than the Verizon product. Any thoughts on which is better? I recently upgraded the phone OS to version 1.08, will that make Verizon wireless sync more stable?

The features of each program will need to be evaluated by yourself and then make your own determination. There are pro's and con's to each program, it is a matter of personal preference.
The update does not state that it will improve wireless sync. You can ask Verizon regarding that question.

Treo 700p Verizon Problem

I have Treo 700p by Verizon since December 2007.
I have been having problem with my Phone. When I make a Phone Call or Receive a Phone Call. I cam hear the other party's voice but my Voice does not go to the Other Party. I checked the Mute Button and it is NOT Muted. I took out the Battery and Rrinstalled the Battery to see if that solves the Problem but no Luck. The Phone works fine through the Blue Tooth in the car but just cannot transmit my voice through the regular use of Phone. Any bright idea?

It appears your Mic may be inoperable and you will need to seek repair or replacement options. There is one troubleshooting method you can try and that would be a hard reset. It's may fix your issue and it's worth a try. A hard reset will erase all of your data but restore settings back to default. For further information and instructions on hard reset please visit kb.palm.com and look up article number 42094 in the Solution ID search field.

Treo 700p

Hello, I just hooked up a Palm Treo 700p on Verizon. I use to be on Virgin with Android, so it is a step back. Cost is the driving thing. I also found that I could be in the middle of a tobacco field and not be able to make a call on Virgin due to signal issues. Verizon coverage is much better.
My question is: Are there any good sites to get applications for this phone? I am looking specifically at email clients. The one that Verizon provides does not seem to work and I just want to get my email from Google. I also have an Outlook (formally Hotmail) account, I could use that also. Please point in the right direction, if there is one!

Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community.
Back in the day, there were thousands of Palm OS apps. There still are, but lots of them are no longer supported and some of the great ones are not even available for purchase any longer.
Google will take you to various places, such as freewarepalm.com and handango.com
The only email client I remember, other than the built-in email app that comes with Palm OS, is SnapperMail. I used it with my Palm phones, but I'm not sure it was worth the cost. I thought it was kaput, but it seems like it's still available here.

.Mac Mail attempting to use a mail server I no longer have

I use AOL and .Mac mail thru the Mail program. I'm trying to send a couple mp3's to a client, and I get the message that it can't use the server "mail.purdigital.net." This server is something that was in a building I moved out of last month.
My question is, why is .Mac trying to use someone else's server and not uploading thru it's own? I have sent several large files previously this month with no problem but now it seems like a no-go. I'm constantly on different wireless networks due to work so is my only solution to start logging in thru the .Mac/Apple webpage and send from there? I hope not considering that is a bit clunky and takes up my time.

Mail keeps information about outgoing (SMTP) servers in a separate list independently of any specific mail account. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Deleting an account doesn’t remove from the list the outgoing server that was associated with it. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems.
Go to Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there. The Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.

Settings for outlook (formally hotmail) to be used with Mac Mail

Can anyone help please....
What are the correct settings to get my Outlook (formally Hotmail) email so I can use it through Mac Mail.

Open Mail Contacts and Calendars in System Preferences, select Hotmail, enter your userid and password.

I am unable to "open link behind mail" using Mac Mail now. It used to work fine, and just clicking works but not right clicking to open behind mail. Please help

This used to work on my Mac using Firefox and Mac Mail but now it doesn't. Opening regular links are unaffected. I can still click and open easily. This only happens when I try to use the feature, to open links behind mail. When I right click nothing happens. Nothing is opened.
