Version of awk in Solaris 10?

I have found that there are
/usr/bin/awk (hard linked with /bin/awk)
/usr/bin/nawk (hard linked with /bin/nawk)
/usr/bin/oawk (hard linked with /bin/oawk)
What are they?
I wanna ask what version of awk does Solaris 10 use?

/usr/bin/awk (hard linked with /bin/awk)
/usr/bin/oawk (hard linked with /bin/oawk)awk & oawk - equals (hardlinked), this is "old" awk man awk
/usr/bin/nawk (hard linked with /bin/nawk)
and /usr/xpg4/bin/awkxpg4 awk & nawk - nearly equals, this is "new" awk man nawk
I wanna ask what version of awk does Solaris 10 use?Solaris and you can use both. There are some "awk" language differences (http://www.gnu.org/software/gawk/manual/gawk.html#Language-History) and implementation constrains (such as input line length).
The precompiled gawk is avaiable from blastwave (http://www.blastwave.org/packages.php/gawk).

  • Which version of SNMP does Solaris come with

I've been tasked to do an audit of our environment and see which version of SNMP our servers are running so that we can look at where we are before we try to upgrade to SNMP Version 3.
How do I check which version of SNMP a Solaris system is running?
    Thanks,
    T

Not sure which SNMP agent you're running, but I'll take a guess that you're using Net-SNMP 5.x .
    You can determine this by:
    (Solaris 10) /usr/sfw/bin/snmpd -v
    or possibly:
    /usr/local/bin/snmpd -v
Net-SNMP 5.x agents are capable of answering queries from SNMP verions 1, 2c, and 3. Keep in mind, an EngineID and SNMPv3 user must be configured before SNMP 3 wil work. For more info on this see "man snmpd.conf" and/or the Net-SNMP FAQ: http://www.net-snmp.org/docs/FAQ.html (scroll to the AGENT section)

  • Does Windows Forms Builder version need to match Solaris A/S version ?

We have Forms Builder 10.1.2.0.2 on our Windows client developer PCs. Recently we patched our Solaris Application Server to 10.1.2.2.0.
Do we need to patch our client Forms Builder in order to match versions, since we only design and save the forms in Windows ? (they get moved and compiled on Solaris)
    Thanks,
    Dave

The AS Forms version must be not lower than Forms Builder version. We develop some applications with Forms 6i (Client), and compile the same on AS 10.1.2.

  • Stlport-compatible version of OCCI for Solaris x86_64

    Hi,
Is there one? I noticed that 64-bit version of Instant Client for 64-bit Sparc includes libocci_stlport4.so starting from 10.2.0.3 release, however the file is absent from all x86_64 releases. Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
It should be theoritically possible for oracle to release libocci_stlport4.so of solaris x86_64 architecture. I dont think its available yet. Please contact Oracle support and request for such a shared object. BTW, which oracle database version are you on?

  • How can i identyfy the Versions of Sun and Solaris

How do i find the equvalent version a document on the web says Sun OS 5.5.1 is equvalant to solaris 2.5.1 , how is it related. Please advice.
    Thanks
    Ravi

InfoDoc #46808 from the Archived Collection lists the versions of Solaris/SunOS and kernel (unfortunately starting with Solaris 2.6).
This InfoDoc contains a pointer to InfoDoc #21202 for further explanation.
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-9-46808-1&searchclause=%22Solaris%20version%22
I forwarded a more complete list as a PDF file to SunSolve about 1 1/2 years ago. Unfortunately they weren't able to process PDF files ...
Robert, if your email account @....edu.au is still valid, I can forward the file (about 50K) to you. In the meantime I added Solaris 9 0/05 upto Solaris 10 6/06 to my list. The listed initial kernel patch revisions are only for SPARC (like in the original InfoDoc).

  • Installing obsoleted version of patch on Solaris 10 10/08

I have an application that will not work with any version of patch 119059 (X11 6.6.2: Xsun) more recent than -25. I am considering upgrading a sparc system from Sol 10 11/06 to 10/08, but I am sure the base level of that patch that comes with 10/08 is greater than -25. If I install 10/08, is it possible to remove the base level patch (~-46?) that comes with the OS and replace it with -25?
    Thank you

Providing the upgrade provides backout information for the patch 119059 -46 then you should be able to revert it back. However, this could cause inconsistencies and potential issues with any other packages that have dependencies on the -46 revision which would possibly also need to be backed out.

  • What version of Ethereal has Solaris 9 x86 Intel???

  • Two Java versions on the same solaris box

    Hi,
How can I set up two instances (SUN One 8.1 Application Server EE) to use two different JVM's - I would like one to use 1.4 & anothe to use 1.5?
This is on the same box (Solaris 10).
DO I set it in the JVM Options of the AS ?

You need to have 2 separate file-based installations or 1 packaged and 1 file-based to accomplish that. The way to point appserver 8.x to the JDK which does not come default with appserver installation is to modify AS_JAVA environment variable in appserver_root/config/asenv.conf.

  • Solaris 10 x86 Version

So, when is Adobe going to get their heads out of their collective ***** and release FM for Unix again (Solaris and Mac)?  I grew up with FM under Unix (way back to version 2).  The Solaris sparc 5.5 version is way out-of-date.
There are several of us here at work that would rather use the Solaris x86 version, as our primary computer is Solaris 10 x86.
As pointed out by others in other discussions, Adobe has mishandled FrameMaker after purchasing it.
IMHO, Adobe has managed to screw up not only FM, but other core products.

I have a pc with cdrom and a netra T1 without cdrom.
Wondering if I can use solaris x86 pc to jumpstart
netra T1(sparc). I heard linux can jumpstart solaris
sparc. You can. The only problem is that it is difficult to read the information from the SPARC CD set (due to the differences in x86 and SPARC UFS filesystems).
If you have the SPARC DVD (or even just the DVD .iso), then it's easier. The same information is replicated so that it is easier to copy onto x86.
Since you only have CD drives, I'd recommend copying the DVD image to the machine, then using lofiadm to mount it up.
Once mounted, it's the same thing as on SPARC, just run the setup_install_server and add_install_client stuff.
