Version of Business Connector Supported

Hi ,
What version of Business Connector supported in xMII? Is it possible to connect SAP ECC6.0 with the BC 4.7 using xMII?
Thanks,
Bala

My apologies for putting this so BLUNTLY, but why would you want to do this?
ECC 6 fully supports JCO in which case you would use the xMII JCO blocks that are already in place and have been for some time now.

  • Java Services In Business Connector supported by XI ?

I am working with the java services of BC and want to convert it into XI.
My question is -the webMethods defined in the java services of BC are accepted by XI or not?
eg. the code in java services of BC is
    IDataCursor pipelineCursor = pipeline.getCursor();
This line will be accepted by the XI  when imported or will show error?
As (IDataCursor) is BC propriety  thing.
From where the meaning of the code written in java services of BC can be obtained.
    eg.
    String value = configProp.getProperty(configKey, defaultConfigValue);
Here what does getProperty method do?
    Thanx.

    Hi,
my apologies, don't fully understand your question. Are you asking what is the XML structure that a BC Java service can consume?
If that is the question then the answer is: A BC Java service can not consume XML, it consumes IData / IValues objects.
So your question should probably be: How do we build IValues / IData objects from an InputStream?
Answer: Use a Dom or SAX parser and build the corresponding IValues / IData object maps out of that. This is accurately what we have done (+ implemented our own IValues / IData libraries so that we don't use any built-in BC classes in PI to avoid any licensing issues).
The key is to understand how IValues / IData are implemented and how to deal with XML in input / output streams.
We only use this solution internally with our BC2XI product (when requested by the customer) and unfortunately don't provide the libraries separately.
    Good luck.

  • GB e-filing  - Business Connector Error

    Hi,
    SAP version: ECC5
Business Connector version: 4.7 SSL (along with Hotfix 5)
Our HR functional consultant is trying to execute the program RPCEOYG0 to generate XML data with Zip option to send forms to Inland Revenue. As long as the zip option is not chosen, the program works fine, respective forms are generated in XML and sent to Business Connector. When zip option is chosen, the program gives an error:
    <b>
    [B2BSERV.0026.9201] Unknown service: GBOUTGOING:HR
    Message no. 3G001
    </b>
According to the configuration guide, there is a service called HR_GB_EF_GZIP in the e-filing package that needs to be set up, in addition to the 6 other services. Thats all done and dusted. But it seems there is something wrong with the service itself thats causing the problem.
Has anyone faced this issue before?
    Thanks and regards,
    Shehryar

    Hi Shehryar,
We are also facing the same error and issue. Can you please let us know where the problem lies.
When we give zip or unzip in both the cases we are getting the below error.
    <b>RFC Error:[B2BSERV:0026.9201 UNKNOWN SERVICE GBOUTGOING HR</b>
    SAP VERSION : 4.7
    BC Version: 4.6

  • Any supports for SAP Business connector

    Hello!
Has anyone knowledge in following areas:
    - Has the SAP Business connector still any supports?
    - What is the procedure to connect Lotus Notes and ERP 2005 (Do we need RFC-connects or RFC/BAPI?)
    - Which support package stack and which kernel version are mandatory for Source Release 4.6c?
    Thank you!

  • E-Filing on Business Connector version 4.8

    Hello
We are currently running Business Connector (BC) 4.7 (which is out of support) & need to move to BC 4.8.  I have installed this on a new server & now need to get E-filing running.  Our database is at R/3 4.7
The only document I can find re: E-Filing makes no mention of BC 4.8 (only BC 4.7) - this is [https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000588865|https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000588865] and is called User Guide e-Filing Incoming Outgoing 3.0 (4.6C & above).pdf and is dated July 2005.  My questions are:
    1.  Can anyone confirm that E-filing is supported under BC 4.8.  There must be a support matirx somewhere on the SAP site which explains this but I can't find it.
    2.  Is there a more up to date document anywhere which explains how to install E-filing on BC 4.8.  Or maybe the instructions in the document I have would apply to BC 4.8 as well?
    Thanks, Chris

I am not sure what you mean by "e-filing GB", but BC 4.8 supports the same functionality as BC 4.7, and adds some new functions. So should be no problem.

  • Does e-filing on erp6 support Business Connector 4.8.

We are planning to upgrade to ERP6 we are currently using business connector 4.7 for e-filiing GB. From my investigations so far it seems that we need to implement PI for e-filing GB on ERP6 but since Business Connector 4.8 has now been released and is supported on ERP6 can we use Business Connector 4.8 for e-filing on ERP6.
    Many Thanks

  • Old version of SAP Business Connector (4.6)

    Hi,
where can I download old versions of SAP Business Connector?
in BC section ([http://service.sap.com/sbc-download|http://service.sap.com/sbc-download]) there are only 4.7 and 4.8 installation package and upload.
    thanks
    Damiano

What is the reason for staying on 4.6 ?
Did you develop many complicated packages and are afraid they wont work anymore in 4.7. That should not be the case.
By the way, if someone answers your question, you are encouraged to give the points to that person and not just mark the question as answered but I will answer your questions about BC anyway, if needed.

  • Delta between Business Connector 4.8 and 4.7

This seemed like the most logical place to put my post so here it goes..
We are assessing our options for replacing/upgrading existing Business Connector installations that will shortly be out of support (OSS Note 571530).Whilst researching our options I have come across OSS Note 1094412 which describes a new version of 4.8 becoming available in July 2008.
Information on BC4.8 is virtually non-existent on the web - can anyone provide me with details of the delta between 4.7 and 4.8, licensing structure, hardware requirements, support/maintenance strategy and ease of migration from 4.6/4.7 to 4.8?
As an aside it is very interesting that SAP has chosen to provide BC 4.8, presumably to ensure BC can continue to runs on supported O/S' and Java environments, when SAP XI/PI is being touted as the de facto integrator for companies with a significant SAP presence. Maybe customers are not quite as keen to move on/remove their BC instances as SAP would hope...

    Hi Daniel,
We have been on this topic for years (some vested interest through product development).
What seems to have happened, from what we can gather, is that Netweaver XI/PI uptake hasn't happened as fast as initially hoped (SAP was looking at an intial end of life of Dec 2004 for BC).
The case is quite simple. BC is free, easy to install and maintain. XI/PI, new product, takes a while to stabilize, much more feature rich, but at the same time more complex and less performing (and did I mention the license cost?).
What we know about BC 4.8 and this is purely based on talking to people and reading about it, we have not seen / tested BC 4.8 ourselves - Mainly a platform upgrade, no significant changes. Most likely free as well (the original contract states that if SAP charges money for BC they have to pay extra to Webmethods / Software AG) accordingly. I would expect to see a few new built-in function and hopefully some hooks into standard SAP monitoring tools.
I think you hit the nail on the head. We have seen customers panic and move to non-Netweaver platforms from BC to be on a supported solution (back when EOL was imminent before 4.8 was released). Why non-Netweaver? Because many customers use non-SAP Integration Products as well and they tend to drift to known solutions instead of trying to manage the risk of migrating to a unfamiliar product.
I would not expect any major changes that would make migration to 4.8 hard. If there would be some major issues then that would signal some significant developments from SAP and that would be a strange thing at this point of the product lifecycle.
End of life for BC 4.8 is in 2012 or thereabouts if I remember correctly, this was part of some note which was released/updated towards the end of last year.
You might want to make some design calls if you continue developing your integration scenarios on BC. The best format to allow for an easy / relatively painfree migration to PI one day is by using BC graphical MAPS where possible, NOT XSL maps as wrongfully indicated in so many previous posts and articles. XSL is the hardest format to migrate to PI even though it might look superficially as a compatible format...

  • Using Business Connector to convert a file to XML

Hi, I have been asked to see if a flat file created by an abap program can be converted to XML format using Business Connector (4.7). I have looked in the tutorial and the pdf documents but can not see how this is done. Please could someone give me some advice?
    - Is this possible using built-in Business Connector services - or is it more complicated?
    - Should I even bother to try to do this when it it easy for me to create an XML format file from ABAP?
    - Is there a good course, book, documentation that would help me?
    Thanks, Andy

    Hi Andy!
Our customers have this requirement to convert some "flat-file" into some XML format via Business Connector quite often. The best way (as the last post sugessted) is indeed to use the "EDI-Adapter" which is free of charge (service.sap.com/connectors).
With that module you can convert all flat-files (delimiter based, offset based, mixed, even classical EDI formats, ...) based on some definition ( = template). Be careful the EDI-Adapter Module download page states that it is supported for BC version 4.6 . However it is absolutely no problem to use it in BC 4.7 versions as well. Remember that you will NOT get any official support by SAP when using the EDI-Adapter module.
Simply import the EDI-Module as general BC package (server/replicate/inbound directory).
Generally it is very powerful, stable and well documented ...
    Best regards, Andy

  • SAP XI over Business connector

    Hi All,
As everyone is aware that SAP Business connector is no longer supported by SAP and XI has replaced it in quite many places.
I would like to know the advantages of XI replacing Business connector in a project scenario. Also any disadvantages that XI still has over BC?
I would like to have the reply in detail as this is required for suggesting XI as a replacement for BC.Also the cost benefits highlighted would be of great help.Inputs for this query would be highly appreciated and rewarded.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Ramya & others,
we at Lost Bearings International have brought the BC2XI(TM) to the market and together with partners delivered successful migrations to XI using it as the underlying platform.
We are currently working on Version 2 of the migration platform to allow for a more scalable use for 100+ BC project migration scenarios at larger customer sites as well as a more generic migration process which will assist in migrations from other EAI platforms to XI on top of the current BC to XI one.
Best way find out more is to contact us directly through http://www.lostbearings.com/exponent/index.php?section=3 and we can discuss the evaluation steps to give you an idea about cost & time savings you can achieve through the BC2XI service offering.
Unfortunately the information on http://www.bc2xi.com is a bit outdated at the moment, but this should be updated in the near future.

  • Business connector installation error

    Dear community,
    I am trying to install bc 4.8 x64 on win2008 R2 x64 std ed.server (in vmware).
When I run the installer (BCServer48_x64.exe or BCServerXpt48_x64) I get an error:
    >business connector install could not find a java virtual machine to load
    >you may need to reinstall a supported java virtual machine
As I understand it there is a sap jvm integrated, so separate jre install is not needed.
In any case I have also installed separate java :
    >java -version
    java version "1.6.0_24"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_24-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.1-b02, mixed mode)
but this does not change the error.
Win2008 R2 is supported according to pam and note 1094412.
I have tried using compatibility settings for win server 2003 but no change.
    Any advice ?
    Rgds, Eirikur.

It would have been helpful if you shared how to execute this fix.
Here by the way I fixed it:
    First:
Make sure you have a JDK installed!
    I used: JDK 6: sapjvm-6.1.043-ntamd64.zip
You can find it here: https://tools.netweaver.ondemand.com/  Press the Additional software tab.
    Second:
    Go to: http://java.com/en/download/help/path.xml
Here they will explain you how to edit the PATH for different OS. The Windows 7 fix works on Windows Server 2008 R2.
    Third:
    For windows Users:
When you have the Edit PATH screen open add the correct path that leads to your JDK.
For me it was: ";C:\Program Files\Java\sapjvm_6\bin" (Paste without the quotes but add a ; in front of your path)
    Kind regards

  • Business Connector 4.8 - Problems while creating listener - Unicode

    Hello,
we have a problem with the creation of the listener in the business connector 4.8.
We are sure that our system parameters are correct.
But we are missing the unicode button on the BC configuration page.
Our ERP is unicode, so the listener should support unicode as well.
Is this now by default in the new version 4.8 ?
    Kind Regards
    Tanja

I think BC 4.8 recognizes that automatically correctly.
If the button is not there anymore, you dont have to care about it.
    Just give it a try...

  • Business connector on Virtual Server

    Hi All,
I need a urgent help to know, if there are any disadvantages if we setup a Business connector environment in Virtual Server rather than a Physical server?
The situation is, currently I have business connector working on Physical server, for which a Warranty is reach end of life and no further support to the hardware is possible from the mother company.
Hence we have a plan of moving the Business connector in the physical server to a new virtual server provided by our infrastructure team as virtual servers are less costlier than physical server. Hence I would like to know how good to choose Virtual Server for business connector.
Also, do any one can suggest what is the best way of approach would be, to move the existing Business connector server operations to new hardware i.e. is it fine to do pure system copy and will it work? or else do I need to redo from installing the BC software and configuring it manually.
    Thanks,
    Bindu

    Hi Bindu,
we are running all of our BC servers on VMWare images. Works perfectly. You are better off installing the BC from scratch and remember if you are installing it onto Windows XP or alike you should select the Windows 2000 compatibility mode both for installation as well as when running it. This will allow it to run just fine.
Be aware that BC 4.8 is due to be released soon and that will give you a supported, JVM updated version of BC for Windows and Linux. Currently all JVM versions are un-supported for previous BC versions.
If you use the same name and IP for your virtual server than what you had for the previous physical server you should not see any changes in your configs. Again, we have moved these from physical to virtual doing just that and it all worked well.
If you don't care about support at this point in time then you can also run the whole lot on a newer JVM, though if this is feasible or necessary is up to you.
    Cheers

  • Business connector server on Virtual Server

    Hi,
Currently our 4.6 release Business Connector servers running on Windows NT Operating system. We would like to upgrade them to BC release 4.7 on Windows 2000 operating system on Virtual servers.
Are there any known issues/disadvantages if we install Business connector servers on Virtual Server rather than a Physical server?
These virtual servers will be in the same domain as that of SAP systems. Host names of the upgraded Virtual servers will be same as the current production BC hosts.
    Thanks,
    Srini

The following information provides you with an overview of the new features in SAP BC Release 4.7: It also tells you about incompatible changes that you need to know about before performing an upgrade.
SAP BC 4.7 is based on Integration Server 4.6 from webMethods. However, the SAP BC elements in Integration Server 4.6 have been redeveloped (see below for details).
    Features
Additional Functions in SAP BC Developer
As well as SAP BC Administrator GUI, you can now use SAP BC Developer to perform typical development tasks.  You do not need administrator authorizations in SAP BC Developer to do this. For example, with SAP BC 4.7 you can use SAP Lookup to generate elements for the Developer.  This enables you to gather information about function modules, structures (tables), BAPIs and IDocs in an SAP system, and then generate outbound maps or records for these objects directly.
SAP BC Developer contains a new menu, SAP, which contains the following functions:
    ·        Look up a function module and generate an outbound map
    ·        Look up a structure definition and generate a record.
    ·        Lookup a business object.
    ·        Look up an IDoc and creating a Record.
    ·        Browser for Function Maps.
In addition, the Developer now also supports the following actions:
    ·        Generate an SAP inbound map if you want an SAP system to run a service in SAP BC.
    ·        Generate an SAP outbound map to execute a function module in an SAP system.
    ·        Generate a record based on an SAP ABAP Dictionary structure.
    ·        Generate a record based on an SAP IDoc.
SAP BC Developer now also supports a proxy bypass list. This means that you no longer need to define whether a connection runs through a proxy; instead, the bypass list performs this task.
New Public Services on SAP BC Server
    pub.string:gzip
Compresses the specified input string and generates a check total (optional). For measurements or for statistical purposes, the lengths of the zipped and unzipped strings are provided as output.
    ·        pub.string:ungzip
Decompresses a specified input string, which was compressed with pub.string:gzip, and verifies the check total (optional).
    ·        pub.string:numericParse
Analyzes a number in accordance with a given number pattern.
    ·        pub.math:randomLong
Generates a pseudo random number and sends its string representation in a pipeline variable. You can use this number as a universal identifier with an acceptable level of security, as long as it is used in non-distributed scenarios and for a small number of variables.
    ·        pub.file:head
Shows the start of a given file.
    ·        pub.file:tail
Shows the end of a given file.
    ·        pub.flow:sleep
Puts the current service into sleep mode for the specified period (in seconds).
    Restructuring of the WmPartners Package
The WmPartners package in SAP BC Server has been completely restructured and now offers the following enhancements:
    ·        Improved status information in the messages displayed in the Transaction Store and the Audit Log. This solves a range of problems, such as incorrect status information being displayed by IDocs.
    ·        Improved search and sort options for transactions in the file system of the Message Store. In the Transactions menu, SAP BC Administrator GUI offers you a new option, Message Store Query Settings, which enables you to select and delete transactions. In Release 4.7, the Message Store can also be displayed on separate pages, which makes it easier to edit large numbers of transactions.
    ·        Improved search and sort options for Routing Rules. In the Routing Rules menu, SAP BC Administrator GUI offers you a new option, Routing Rule Filter Settings, which enables you to restrict the number of routing rules that are displayed, and to sort the display. The filter accepts all combinations of characters, and the placeholders '*' (string of characters) and  '?' (one character). This makes it easier to sort and search for routing rules, especially if you need to process a large number of communication partners and message types.
    ·        Forwarding the "Confirm Event" tRFC (triggered by an SAP system) to the next receiver (for the following transports: B2B Service, ALE (R/3 IDoc), and XML (only if another SAP BC is the receiver)) and triggering "Confirm Event" from an external client. Both of these cases can be significant if the final receiver is an SAP system. In this case, "Confirm Event" removes the transaction ID from the ARFCRSTATE table, which can improve system performance significantly when a large number of tRFCs are being processed.
Support for Distributed Statistic Records (DSRs)
SAP BC has supported the generation of DSRs since Release 4.7  DSRs enable you to monitor the performance of each SAP system and its components. In this way, you can check how much system load is produced by each individual component, and how many resources are being used. This enables you to identify "performance leaks" and optimize system performance.
The DSR support integrated in SAP BC also allows you to measure the total retention period of a process in SAP BC. To evaluate the DSRs, you require additional SAP software, including specific versions of the SAP Solution Manager, and the RFC Library. The exact requirements are still being defined.
The details will be published in SAP Note 620418. You can find a link to this SAP Note on the SAP BC download page at http://service.sap.com/sbc-download.
    SAP BC Server Core Enhancements
    ·        Reverse Invoke
The reverse invoke protocol has been enhanced and now allows you to forward more information, such as IP addresses.
If, for example, an application fails because a connection is broken, and other working connections exist, the connection is checked using a ping.
From now on, the internal server can open or reopen a defined number of connections, if necessary.
A document is generated for any exceptions on the internal server.
    ·        Email Listener
New Features in the Email Listener
¡        Reprocessing of invalid mails for IMAP Server
¡        Processed mails selected as "unread" if they have not been deleted.
You can also specify whether mails with exceptions are deleted or not.
    ·        Update Manager
The Update Manager manages fixes and patches for the upgrade of an SAP BC Server. Previously , the Update Manager allowed a fix to set other fixes as obsolete, using the updateVoidList field in the update.cnf file of the fix. An obsolete fix is not shown in classpath, but up to now the Update Manager has not been able to give a fix in classpath priority ahead of this other fix. The Update Manager has now been enhanced to support these fix priorities:  The update.cnf file in the fix now contains an updatePrecedeList field.
    Incompatible Changes
    SAP BC Delivery Without JVM
The Windows Version of SAP BC 4.7 is no longer delivered with a Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The SAP BC 4.7 Installation Guide describes the JVMs that are supported.

Thanks for your support on this eai.
    Regards,
    Laurent.

ok, I think we do not need the save/loadPipeline things, because you can debug the flow without that. I first thought you act as HTTP server, but you issue the client call in the flow itself.
Looking at the logs more carefully, it shows for example:
Copy failed: (Simple) No source data available: to=/returnedStatusCode(0), from=/returnHttp(0)/cXML(0)/Response(0)/Status(0)/@code(0)
But you say have that input:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cXML SYSTEM "http://xml.cXML.org/schemas/cXML/1.2.011/cXML.dtd">
    <cXML version="1.2.011" payloadID="20080825171850716.18637uTQ9ExzheaK+H6b7O9oCAQWPzHA-9355222.8b3632def70da7220004d0b6" timestamp="2008-08-25T17:18:50-CEST">
    <Response>
    <Status code="500">No cXML document received from sender.</Status>
    </Response>
    </cXML>
So we see that your mappings assumptions do not match the result structure.
The other problem is that you get a status 500 and do not receive a cXML document, but that might be ok, depending on what parameters you pass to the other HTTP server. At least, you get a meaningful error message back from the server, meaning communication is ok.
I suggest you first correct those "copy failed" issues and then check by single-stepping where exactly the flow fails and check that input again.
By the way, when I feed the above cXML into recordToDocument, it works fine. Did you specify other input parameters besides "node" (e.g. recordName) ? And again, are you on Core Fix 8 ?
