Versions Actual/Plan in SAP FI and CO

Hi,
What are the various levels in SAP FI and CO, where versions can be maintained for Actual and Plan. An what is the importance of Special purpose in versions.

Versions is maintained in Controlling to store data in different way. transactional and planning data.
For example version 0 -Version 0 for Plan/actual version, using that I can store my planning & actual value store my cost objects.Version 0 is generated automatically when you create the controlling area. Version 0 is the only version where actual transaction data is posted
Plan versions P1,P2 and so on- offer you the possibility to administer several plans parallel in the system. As a rule, one plan version contains an overview of your enterprise's organizational plan.
For example you will have plan data in P1- 100
                                                        P2- 120
                                                        P3-  140
SO that you will have various reference points to plant data in parallel,  You will have various reporting options in comparison with actual data. We use T-code OKEQ for maintaining and creating versions  for PCA, Controlling Area, PS etc.
I hope it helps
Thanks

  • Report to display (actuals data from one cube and plan from another)

    Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement in reporting to display actual data from one cube and plan data from a different one.
The example below might give a clear picture of the requirement.
rows has key figures and columns = months
    Jan |  Feb |  Mar |  Apr |  May |  Jun  ...   ....
    GrossSales
    Net Sales
Now if I run the report for Current month (Apr), then for the months of (Jan, Feb and Mar) i need to get the data from CUBE1   and for the remaining months (Apr thru Dec) from CUBE2.
Similarly when i run the report next month(may),
then (data for Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr  from CUBE1)
and ( May thru Dec from CUBE2)
    Any suggestions.
    Thanks in Advance
    Kumar

    Hi Henry,
We alreadey have a multi provider which includes
FinDat Cube(CUBE1) for actuals and Comm.Goals cube (CUBE2) for plan.
So you suggest that we have two versions of key figure for actual and plan.
ie. each KF will have two versions.
actuals = (version 10, FiscPer<curr.mnth, key figure, acutals cube)
    Plan = (version 20, FiscPer>=curr.mnth, key figure, comm.goals cube)
    eg:
    Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun ...
    GrossSales(Act)
    GrossSlaes(Plan)
    Net Sales(Acutal)
    Net Sales(Plan)
Correct me if I am wrong.
the report has a lot of key figures, having two versions for each kf will be confusing.
the user would like to see
    Jan.....| ...Feb  |..Mar |..Apr.....|  May  |
    GrossSales   Act Value|Act.V |Act.V| PlanVal|PlanVal|
    Net Sales
    where Act.Value is from CUBE1
             Plan Value is from CUBE2
    Thanks

  • I need to know the difference between planned SKF and Actual SKF from business view and when I can use one of them ?

I need just to know the difference between plan SKF and Actual SKF in business example and when I use one of them.
    thanks

    Hi Salaam,
Statistical Key Figure (SKF) is a base to allocate the cost between cost centers. Usually, common cost centers cost should allocate to respective department cost centers on monthly basis.
Some of SKFs are: Calculating floor rent on SFT, Telephone charges on No. of units, and employees head count is with "Each" in SAP.
Apart from Ajay's reply, you can consider the Canteen exp in an organization. Assume Admin, Fin and Mfg departments are getting food services from Canteen. Here, total monthly cost of Canteen exp should be allocated to respective departments. Here, we use SKF as total head count of each department and distribute the cost.
Planned SKF is what you planned on the beginning of a period. (Assume head count was planned as 30 in the month beginning)
Actual SKF is what exactly you consumed over the period. (Actual employees provided canteen services during the month is 25)

  • Actual GI (gods issue) date and planned GI date

Can you explain about actual GI (gods issue) date and planned GI date? Can actual GI date differ from planned GI date? can anyone pls give me the ans.....

    Hi,
Planned GI Date : It is the date on which the goods must be physically dispatched from the shipping so that it can reach customer on the Requested Delivery Date (RDD) or on-time. It can be calculated as follows :
Planned GI Date = RDD - (pick/pack time + loading time + transit time)
Actual GI Date : Actual date on which physical goods movement happens from shipping point. Goods issue document to account for the outgoing inventory is normally created on Actual GI Date.
    Hope it adds info..

  • How come the latest version of firefox (4.0) lost the feature of saving the bookmarks whenever I exit the browser? Now the only option is actually closing all the bookmarks and manually opening them again.

With previous versions of Firefox, I was always asked this question whenever I exit the web browser and turning my laptop off: Do you want to save your bookmarks?... At least that was the message of the question. Right now, my only option is actually closing all the bookmarks and manually opening each one of them or starting from a saved bookmark list.
    Thanks!

One change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''

    Hello
I had exactly this problem. In the end i used the online service and they fixed it for me. It was something to do with how the data was set up on my computer and they remotely accessed my computer fixing the issue for me. It was all very complex and they were very good at sorting it, highly recommended.

  • SAP client and other software on a Virtual Machine

I'm the campus coordinator for a university that is a member of the University Alliances program.  This gives us the ability to put the R/3 client and other software on lab machines and also distribute it to students.
Given that we deploy in a shared lab environment on a university campus we often don't have absolute control over things like browser versions, plugins available, security settings, Java version available, and so on.  We also only have the ability to do updates, installations, etc. at fixed times of the year.
As a solution for this, we're contemplating creating a virtual machine to be able to control the environment more and also allow the student greater control and customization.  At this point we'd be looking at developing a Windows VM, either Vista or XP, that would have the R/3 client, IE with all the correct plugins for running Visual Composer, NetWeaver Developer Studio, and other programs such as Solution Composer.  The idea would be that if we need to add a new software resource, change a version, tweak the environment, etc. we could just update and redistribute this virtual machine.
Has anyone here attempted this type of deployment?  As we are just beginning, any helpful hints or advice would be appreciated.

I appreciate your willingness to think through this with me and share your expertise.

    > Why do you think so? The "key" you use during installation is bound to a medium. We also have a license that allows us to fully automatically install Windows XP on our client PCs using Empirum and also install all other necessary software (IE updates, SAPGUI, Adobe SVG, Microsoft Office etc.)
My assumption was that if we had multiple windows instances out there all with the same key (assuming non-volume key) that the piracy protection built into the OS might in some way cause problems.
    > (Perhaps not.  We're still considering the ins and outs of that.)  We're hesitant to put our campus volume license key on these VMs, since one could recover that key from the system and then it could become publicly available.  Clearly that would be bad.
    >
    > That may be not a problem because those keys "usually" work only with the corresponding media - people would need to get their hands on a coorporate installation media to actually use it.
I'm not sure how challenging that in fact might be.  A quick Google search turned up lots of sites that at least claim to have Windows volume keys and necessary install media.  I know that college students can be very adept at things in that domain.
    > The biggest problem you might face is the UUID of the client instances - they will be identical. If you plan to use Active Directory functionality (for e. g. Single Sign On) then you need to make sure each VM is different (speaking of running sysprep) and that you have a different user on each VM - which will be not easy to mantain.
If I'm understanding your thought correctly, the UUID issue is why I thought attempting 1 shared OS license key for all VMs would be problematic.  My assumption is that having a unique OS key on each VM would solve this problem.
As far Active Directory goes, that likely won't be an issue. Our students have storage on the campus network, but we have no plans for the VM to access that.  All our SAP resources are hosted remotely at a UCC.  I envision the students being able to 'boot' their VM, connect to the UCC using the client software, do their SAP work, and be done.  The only storage they'd have in the VM would be a drive in the VM.  While this might not work in many deployments, given our use of this just for lab instruction, I think it would work well.
    > Another point to consider is: How to update? If you update your main image (e. g. necessary SAPGUI patches) - how will you distribute that to the USB-VMs - or how will you make sure the students use the latest copy?
This is where our situation and a corporate situation likely differs.  Since we are hosted by a UCC that caters just to the academic environment things tend to be build and frozen during the summer and then not changed until the next year.  Our classes run each semester independently.  Although we may have to roll out a different VM from one semester to the next, a mid-semester change shouldn't be needed.  However, having said that, if we do need to install a patch, that should be much easier.  In a lab shared environment updating a software version requires a lot of coordination.  In this VM situation, each students has full administrator privilege over their VM.  If they need to install a patch, they can do so.  If they mess this up, they haven't disrupted anyone else.  In that instance they could just download the base VM again as a 'reset.'
    > In such an environment I'd more think about setting up a terminal server (using Windows 2003) and install all necessary software there. With that you only need to update at one place, you can granularily give permissions to the users and supporting users in case of a proble is easier (mirroring the session) than having single instances with all the same hostname of the client. And all students only need an RDP client which comes with the Windows XP or Vista by default.
That is something we haven't considered with this project, and I'll have to check with our system manager.  Resources might be an issue here.  We have an abundance of PCs, so each of them running their own VM isn't an issue.  I'm not sure if we have a server capable of supporting 30-40 simultaneous remote connections that is not otherwise in use.
Thanks for your ideas here Markus.  Any other thoughts, ideas, etc. are most welcome.  I'll also update this thread as I start experimenting with this over the next couple of weeks.

  • Which data sources I need to use for Actual&Plan comparision of GL Account?

Could you please let me know which datasources I need to use for Actual & Plan comparision of GL Account data?
Current SAP BI version is BI 7.0.
As per my knowledge, I am thinking of using the datasources 0CO_OM_CCA_1 for Plan data & 0FI_GL_10 for Actuals.
    Is this right?
I have one more question here:
While extracting the data from ds 0CO_OM_CCA_1, I am getting only the Profit & Loss Account data where as the Balance Sheet Account data is not coming.
And also there is some confusion in VTYPE because the standard ds 0CO_OM_CCA_1 is giving the data with Value type 10 is & Version 000.
As we all know the VTYPE '10' stands for Actuals then how can we say that this ds 0CO_OM_CCA_1 gives Plan data?
    Please clarify.

    Hi,
Basically 0CO_OM_CCA_1 data source is used to extract actual, plan, and commitments.
This data is differentiated with value type, you can see sap note 523742 for more details on value type.
For balance sheet accounting data check the below link,

  • Version issue of base SAP DCs versus Runtime libraries

I have created a DC project of type Web Dynpro. In JDI my track is defined with the 3 base dependent DCs (SAP-JEE, SAP-JTECHS, SAP-BUILDT). I am able to sync used DCs and have locally.
When I try to build a very simple project I get the following build error "com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDApplicationStateChangeInfo cannot be resolved (or is not a valid type) for the argument stateChangeInfo of the method wdDoApplicationStateChange".
What I discovered is that the class "wdDoApplicationStateChange" does not exist in the "_webdynpro_progmodel.jar" file that was sync'd as part of the SAP-JEE DC BUT when I look at the WD runtime libraries that is part of my Studio install that class does exist in the jar file.
If I create the same application as a standalone Web Dynpro project, it builds locally successfully and when I deploy it to the Portal it runs perfectly.
Therefore it seems I need to deal with 3 versions of the same libraries:
    1. The local WD runtime that comes with the Studio install.
    2. The libraries that come when sync'ing used DCs (i.e. SAP-JEE, SAP-JTECHS, SAP-BUILDT).
    3. The actual runtime on the portal.
    Questions:
    - How can we verify we have imported the correct version of the used DCs (i.e. SAP-JEE, SAP-JTECHS, SAP-BUILDT) in the JDI so the related libraries match the actual runtime?
    - Is there somewhere on SDN or other SAP site a version roadmap of these SAP supplied DCs?
I tried to find documentation/references related to versioning of these SAP supplied DCs and could not find anything helpful.
Even our BASIS administrator is having trouble identifying the correct versions.

    Pascal,
    you mention the following:
The SP level of the three base SCs MUST match the SP level of your target runtime systems. It is also adviseable to have your NWDS at this same SP level (especially when you are building Web Dynpro's).
    So can you help here...
We have modified the source code of the following version of the NW2004 ESS component: SAP_ESS 100 sp16
We would like to plan to upgrade to the following version of the NW2004s ESS component: SAP_ESS 600 sp12
The "NWDI Cookbook for XSS Customers" seems to only document the procedure and migration path on how to upgrade from one sp to the next sp WITHIN THE SAME VERSION.
    (For Example: SAP_ESS 100 sp16 to SAP_ESS 100 sp19)
We need to know the migration path and process for upgrading from NW2004 to NW2004s.
    (For Example: SAP_ESS 100 sp16 to SAP_ESS 600 sp12)
My hunch is we will follow a similar process, however, questions around what version of NWDS do we need to use for handling both the NW04 and NW04s component in using the Meta-Data Comparison Tool.  If we need to always make sure our NWDS matchs our target J2EE Server Version, how will this work when we are working with 2 different J2EE server versions during the upgrade? (NW04 and NW04s)

  • Actual/Plan (urgent)

    Hi All,
I am into a scenario where in i should plan based upon the actuals.I have couple of doubts in the scenario am working upon.
I have a cube for actual and a cube for plan.If i have to use both these cubes both should be made transactional.(am i right?)
can iload the actual data in to a cube and then use the same in bps(obviously transactional) and make comparisons using version change?is this advisable?
i am realy breaking my head inorder to work with actual/plan.Please lite me with the possible solutons.Thank you
    Regards,
    Ragav

    Hello Ragav,
When working with Plan and Actual data you can use either of the two scenarios described above. Either have 2 InfoCubes and use a MultiCube/Multiarea or copy the actual data into the plan InfoCube. Both scenarios have advantages and disadvantages/constraints:
    Read data using a Multi-Area:
    Advantages:
    - No data redundancy, less physical memory is needed.
    Disadvantages:
    - Data structure in planning and reporting must be similar.
    - Multi-Areas are a little slower than basic areas.
    Physical Copy:
    Advantages:
    - If the actual data is on another granularity than the plan data or in another data model you can fit the data to the structure of the plan data using transfer/update rules or Fox formulas when copying the data.
    - Planning and reporting can be done without influencing each other.
    Disadvantages:
    - Data redundancy.
If you copy/move the actual data into the plan InfoCube you should use a process chain that first switches the InfoCube to "load enabled", then uploads the data and switches the InfoCube back to "planning enabled". You have to make sure that no user is working on the plan data when doing this. Thus if you cannot make sure that you have a timeframe (at night) where no user is/can do planning then you can either move the data be using a BPS copy function in a multiarea or go for the multiarea concept.

  • What is difference between SAP R3 And SAP IS Mills Product

    HI Friends
What is difference between SAP R3 And SAP IS Mills Product
What are the futures are availables in IS MIlls
    Regards

    Hi,
SAP R/3 is the central enterprise version. It is not specifically designed for any inducstry sectors and it can cater many of the industry types.
Is is developed for specific industries an for SMB's (small and medium business). It will have components specifically for the industry.
The SAP Mill Products component adds sector-specific functionality to an ERP system to satisfy the complex requirements of mill industries (e.g. metal, wood, paper, textiles, construction materials, and cable sectors).
These industry segments differ from others primarily in that the materials used have a large number of characteristics and variants. The materials in the segments listed above are also predominantly area-based (e.g. paper, textiles, plastic film) or length-based (e.g. cables, piping). Account must be taken of these material characteristics throughout the entire supply chain.
To cater for the particularities of these industry segments, SAP Mill Products features processes and functions that cover the entire supply-chain cycle – from product design and configuration, through planning, order processing, capacity planning and production, to final delivery. Additional functions are available in costing and inventory management. SAP Mill Products are also integrated into Quality Management, Financial Accounting, and Controlling.
