Versions of Oracle HTTP Server

I am working on an Apex version 2.0.0.00.49. I am confused about the version of Oracle HTTP Server that is in use. I believe it to be 1.3.34 but is that the latest version?

I am upgrading to apex release 3.1.2. There is a patch, but I did not apply the patch yet since the install failed. Also, I've been searching & found a tutorial for installing APEX 2.2. It says that you need to install HTTP from the 10g companion cd prior to installing APEX. So, I'm guessing that I need to install HTTP first for 3.1.2. If that's true, then WHY doesn't the install instructions for 3.1 also say to install HTTP first? It is not clear! The 3.1 documentation only says you need to DECIDE which you're going to use: HTTP or embedded (which is in 11g). I thought that the install script would prompt me for my choice. So much for my interpretation skills.

  • To install Oracle HTTP Server only

    Hi,
I already installed Apex (3.0) in an Oracle database a while ago. I have used our Oracle iAS 10.1.2 as the application server. Now, I would like to install the Oracle HTTP Server in the database server and use it to run Apex. With the 10g companion CD, there is not any option to install the Oracle HTTP Server (Apache 1.3) only. Is there any way that I can install the Oracle HTTP Server only without installing Apex again? Where can I download it?
Also, I heard that there is a version of Oracle HTTP Server (Apache 2) bundled with Oracle 11g. Can I use it for Apex 3.0?
    Thanks.
    Andy

    Hi,
    See:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201winsoft.html
Here you have the option, to install HTTP only
    Kind regards,
    Iloon
PS: be aware this cd contains apex 1.6 ;-)

  • Oracle HTTP Server version

I ran the following command and determined the Oracle HTTP Server version:
    ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/apache -vOracle-Application-Server-10g/10.1.3.5.0 Oracle-HTTP-Server
However, I would like to know the actual Apache module version. For example, 1.3.x, 2.0.x or 2.2.x
Can you please let me know how I determine this? Thanks.

    Ah. Thanks.
ap_release.h doesn't exist, so 1.3.x it is. I guess the fact ${APHOME}/bin/httpd doesn't exist either is another indication I'm running a version below 2.0.x.
    Now comes my next question:
Is there an available patch that would upgrade my current Oracle HTTP Server apache version to 2.0.x or 2.2.x? We were recently upgraded to 10.1.3.5.0.
    Thanks, again!

  • Can Oracle HTTP Server 2.0 be installed with Oracle App Server 10.1.3.4.0?

Or I guess a related question is what version of apache comes with the latest App Server Patch Set (10.1.3.4.0)?
We are running OAS 10.1.3.3.x and we are having issues with URLs that end in a number but which have query parameters at the end.
    E.g. http://<stuff_here>/1?type=table&format=html
The URLs come from REST-ful GET operations. It seems like the HTTP server just ignores the query parameters completely.
When we run against stand-alone OC4J which includes an embedded HTTP server, such URLs work as expected.
We are hoping that perhaps the latest patch set for the full Oracle Application Server 10g will overcome this issue.
But if we need to move to a later Oracle HTTP Server (like the one that comes as an option for the Oracle 11g database installation) we would be willing to do so.
Comments related to this are welcome.
    Thanks
    Jim

    Hi,
Does anyone have experiece getting Apex working with secured BI publisher?
The error I am getting when PDF printing from Apex to BI pub is:
"ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified.
    Error failed
    OK "
Please note, network services in 11G are already configured; thus I am able to print from Apex to non-secured BI pub.
    Thanks,

  • Mod_osso behavior differences with 10gR3 Oracle HTTP Server 2

We have an install of standalone 10gR3 Oracle HTTP Server 2 (i.e. the Apache 2 version), and have noticed that the behavior of mod_osso is different than the regular 10gR3 Oracle HTTP Server (i.e. the Apache 1 version).
We use the following in our mod_osso.conf:
    <Location /somepath>
    AuthType Basic
    require valid-user
    </Location>
First Difference: With OHS 2, when we go to /somepath, we get the error "missing AuthName" in the Apache logs.
So, we set an AuthName. Now, our mod_osso.conf looks like this:
    <Location /OnDemand>
    AuthType Basic
    AuthName "Oracle Single Sign On"
    require valid-user
    </Location>
Second Difference: Now, we we go to /somepath, Apache returns a 401, which causes the browser to prompt for credentials! We can enter anything we want in the dialog, and everything will continue as normal (i.e. redirects to the Oracle SSO Server to prompt for credentials, etc).
So, our question is: Why these behavior differences in 10gR3 OHS 2? It almost seems as if it's using an old 9i mod_osso!
    Thanks,
    - Bill

    Okay, we figured it out.
Apparently, the three "LoadModule mod_auth*" lines in OHS 2 httpd.conf need to be commented out.
Now mod_osso is working exactly as with OHS 1.

  • How to get rid of /j2ee prefix from URL when I use the OC4J via Oracle HTTP server

In 9iAS 9.0.2 Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) is pre-configured to assign requests to the Home OC4J instance via the URL-prefix "/j2ee"/
For example, the TEST servlet under OC4J would be passed through OHS using:
    http://urmachine:urApachePort/j2ee/TEST
whereas in the standlone OC4J version, this URL works:
    http://urmachine:urOC4JPort/TEST
How to get rid of /j2ee prefix from URL when I use the OC4J via Oracle HTTP Server?

It is getting the url prefix from mod_oc4j.conf
    under /ora9ias/Apache/Apache/conf

  • How to install Soap on the (Apache) Oracle HTTP Server

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to install SOAP on the Oracle HTTP Server? I downloaded a soap version (it seems that the standard version comes without SOAP) from the xml.apache.org site and followed the installation instructions as far as I could (only Tomcat is described). However, no 'soaping'!!! Maybe I'm overlooking something because I cannot imagine that it should be difficult.
    Thanks in advance!
    Hans

Hans, the SOAP implementation is part of OC4J. You get it out of the box. Check out how to use the out-of-the-box implementation in the tutorials on Web services with Oracle9i JDeveloper at:
    http://otn.oracle.com/tech/webservices/htdocs/series/content.html
These tutorials/samples use the implementation of SOAP/WSDL that Oracle calls J2EE Web Services and this is the long term direction of Oracle's Web services implementation. This implementation is what Oracle will be evolving to Sun's Java Web Services Developer Pack as it finalizes into J2EE 1.4.
If you want to use Oracle/Apache SOAP, this too is included in OC4J but its support is being deprecated in future releases of Oracle9iAS in favour of the J2EE Web Services implementation. To find it, check out the OC4J/soap/webapps/ directory for the soap.ear file (it is in a slightly different spot if you are using the full Oracle9iAS R2 but still within the soap directory structure. Simply add <application name="soap" path="../../../soap/webapps/soap.ear" auto-start="true"/> to your OC4J server.xml and <web-app application="soap" name="soap" root="/soap" /> to your OC4J http-web-site.xml, re-start and away you go.
Finally, just to be sure, SOAP support in Oracle9iAS did not appear until 1.0.2.2.x and higher. If using 1.0.2.1 or less, you are correct, there is no SOAP support.
    Mike.
Most folks that try out the J2EE Web Services find it is pretty easy to use so

  • Use oracle http server to configure mod_plsql

    Hi,
    I have a question.
I have already installed HTTP server using the Oracle Database10g Companion CD
    on my Windows 2000 SP4.
At the end of the installation, it refers to http://<computer_name>:7777
to open the HTTP server page.
It seems work fine that it showed the Welcome page of HTTP Server and I find this
"Oracle HTTP Server is the Web server component of Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2). Oracle HTTP Server is a robust, reliable Web server based on the Apache HTTP Server, version 1.3."
But I could'nt do anything of using the mod_plsql components nor another
Modules (mods) which showed in the welcome page since there is no link to such things.
BTW, I have experienced with the HTTP server previously on Oracle9i
When I open the HTTP server page, it showed links to some Modules (mods)
    components such as mod_plsql, etc.
Does the HTTP Server in this version need to be configured to use the links like in Oracle9i's HTTP Server?
Or the new Oracle HTTP server does not support for this thing?
Actually, I worked on Oracle Workflow, which need the Oracle HTTP server to configure
some few things such as DAD.
Please, can anybody help me to solve this problem.
    Thanks,
    Buntoro

  • Need Oracle HTTP Server for mod_plsql and link to download software

    Hi all,
I want to use mod_plsql to publish HTML from the database.
Therefore, I need an Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql.
I have installed the "Oracle HTTP Server with Apache 2.0 10.1.3.1", but there is no mod_plsql included! The welcome page refers to a "Oracle HTTP Server Standalone Administrator's Guide Based On Apache 2.0" which is not installed and can' t be found on OTN.
Can someone give me a link to Oracle HTTP Server installation software which includes mod_plsql?
    Any hints are welcome!
    Thanks, Markus

Based on the version of the database, you could use the listener from that - the same XML DB uses. That would not require an application server install at all.
Alternative: the mod_plsql replacement cartridge off Tom Kyte's site: asktom.oracle.com. Source only - compile against your preferred Apache

  • Oracle HTTP Server and Node Manager

    Hi,
I installed Oracle HTTP Server with Node Manager. I set "CrashRecoveryEnabled=true" in the nodemanager.properties. It works fine when I reboot the machine, but when I kill the root process (kill -9), the new process can not be started as the previous process does not have enough time to die and still uses the ports. I tried to run "nmGenBootStartupProps" in wlst, or set the
    RestartMax=2
    RestartDelaySeconds=5
variables in "[domain_name]/servers/[server_name]/data/nodemanager/startup.properties" - no success.
Any ideas, how to set the number of retries and the delay between restarts?

To deploy your FMX you need AS 10.1.2 Forms installed, and then you can use AS control or Forms server configuration file.
For more information regarding FMX deployment, refer to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14032/toc.htm

  • Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql

    Hi there,
I have a problem using HTML DB on a small network. LAN consists of two computers with Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 1. Server has two NIC. One connected to the local internet provider (PPPoE) with TCP/IP set to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and second network adapter (for the LAN) with TCP/IP address 192.168.0.2. Second computer has NIC with IP 192.168.0.3. The server is set with HTML DB 2.0. There is NO ANY problem if I work on it as stand alone computer - second network adapter disable!
The problem arises if I connect the second computer and then start HTML DB by http://localhost:7777/…"503 the service is temporary unavailable", emagent is down, DBconsole service is not active anymore, etc. Apache or Oracle HTTP Server is up.
I have found, after several days of troubleshooting, that the problem might be in httpd.config file. If somebody have experience in similar networks or Oracle HTTP Server settings please, give me advice or send httpd.conf file as an example.
    Please help me!
    Konstantin

    Hi,
If I disable the network adapters and restart the computer, then connect to the HTML DB or my application, everything is OK. Then enable connection and I can work from both computers!

The dad.conf is empty because I am using marvel.conf. I just checked the rules to build such file. Listener uses as host name - computer name (in my case koncomp), but in all config files Oracle HTTP Server uses name localhost or 127.0.0.1. That is the reason for SYSMAN to make too separate folders in Oracle home named LOCALHOST_instancename and hostname_instanceename.

  • Using php with oracle http server

    Hello folks
This question might have been answered on this forum, but i haven't found it yet.
Is it possible to integrate php into the apache server that is supplied with the oracle (9.2) database, the so called Oracle HTTP Server?
What technical issues are to consider and how do you do it on linux in that case? (SLES8)
Is there any support issues to consider if somebody modifies this oracle supplied http server?
Looking very much forward to some help...
    Regards,
    Christian

Well it was a spelling mistake in the beginning. I get the following output now:
