Very basic query

Hi,
Apologies in advance for the very basic question I am about
to ask but I don't know where to start! I am (attempting) to use
dreamweaver for the first time to create a very basic web page. All
that I require is a front page that is password protected
(protecting access to all of the content on the page) and an index
that links to different captivate projects.
How can I get started? Is there a template for this that I
can simply copy?
Thanks in advance,
mfubib.

No need to apologize. But do be aware that a
password-protected page isn't
quite in the "very basic" category - not rocket science
either, but DW isn't
a program like FrontPage with its' "server extensions" that
do things like
this automatically for you.
The very simplest way would probably be to ask your web host
if they can
password-protect a single directory for you. If they can,
that might be all
you need.
If that won't work, you'll need to ask your web host what
scripting
languages your account supports: PHP? ASP? Based upon that
answer, you can
find and install a script in the right "flavor".

  • A very basic query, Please help.

    Hi all,
    I am very new to java and need your help in getting rid of this error. Please help.
    I have written two java files. packageTest.java and callPackageTest.java. Following is the code:
    // packageTest.java
    package aaa.bbb.ccc;
    public class packageTest
         public packageTest()
              System.out.println("This is from inside package test constructor");
         public static void main(String[] args)
              packageTest obj1 = new packageTest();
              System.out.println("Hello World!");
    //callPackageTest.java
    import aaa.bbb.ccc.*; // there is a star at the end. Seems to get removed by the forum every time.
    public class callPackageTest
         public static void main(String[] args)
              packageTest obj1 = new packageTest();
              System.out.println("Hello World!");
    Now when I compile packageTest.java with the following command:
    javac -d . packageTest.java
    I get correct class file created in correct directory, i.e. aaa/bbb/ccc/packageTest.class.
    But now when I try to compile the java file callPackageTest.java with the following command:
    javac -cp . callPackageTest.java
    I get the following error message:
    class file contains wrong class.
    Please remove or make sure it appears in the correct subdirectory of the classpath
    I also observed that when I put the complete class name in the import statement in the file callPackageTest.java ( import aaa.bbb.ccc.packageTest; ) then there is no error. But I expect the same to be done when I write import aaa.bbb.ccc. * ( an star at the end)
    Where is the mistake ? Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks guys for all the information about how to post and other forum related stuff. So here goes the formatted code.
    I have written two java files. packageTest.java and callPackageTest.java. Following is the code:
    // packageTest.java
    package aaa.bbb.ccc;
    public class packageTest
    public packageTest()
    System.out.println("This is from inside package test constructor");
    public static void main(String[] args)
    packageTest obj1 = new packageTest();
    System.out.println("Hello World!");
    //callPackageTest.java
    import aaa.bbb.ccc.*;
    public class callPackageTest
    public static void main(String[] args)
    packageTest obj1 = new packageTest();
    System.out.println("Hello World!");
    Now when I compile packageTest.java with the following command:
    javac -d . packageTest.javaI get correct class file created in correct directory, i.e. aaa/bbb/ccc/packageTest.class.
    But now when I try to compile the java file callPackageTest.java with the following command:
    javac -cp . callPackageTest.javaI get the following error message:
    class file contains wrong class.
    Please remove or make sure it appears in the correct subdirectory of the classpath
    I also observed that when I put the complete class name in the import statement in the file callPackageTest.java ( import aaa.bbb.ccc.packageTest; ) then there is no error. But I expect the same to be done when I write import aaa.bbb.ccc.*
    Where is the mistake ?

  • Very Slow Query with CTE inner join

    I have 2 tables (heavily simplified here to show relevant columns):
    CREATE TABLE tblCharge
    (ChargeID int NOT NULL,
    ParentChargeID int NULL,
    ChargeName varchar(200) NULL)
    CREATE TABLE tblChargeShare
    (ChargeShareID int NOT NULL,
    ChargeID int NOT NULL,
    TotalAmount money NOT NULL,
    TaxAmount money NULL,
    DiscountAmount money NULL,
    CustomerID int NOT NULL,
    ChargeShareStatusID int NOT NULL)
    I have a very basic View to Join them:
    CREATE VIEW vwBASEChargeShareRelation as
    Select c.ChargeID, ParentChargeID, s.CustomerID, s.TotalAmount, isnull(s.TaxAmount, 0) as TaxAmount, isnull(s.DiscountAmount, 0) as DiscountAmount
    from tblCharge c inner join tblChargeShare s
    on c.ChargeID = s.ChargeID Where s.ChargeShareStatusID < 3
    GO
    I then have a view containing a CTE to get the children of the Parent Charge:
    ALTER VIEW [vwChargeShareSubCharges] AS
    WITH RCTE AS
    SELECT ParentChargeId, ChargeID, 1 AS Lvl, ISNULL(TotalAmount, 0) as TotalAmount, ISNULL(TaxAmount, 0) as TaxAmount,
    ISNULL(DiscountAmount, 0) as DiscountAmount, CustomerID, ChargeID as MasterChargeID
    FROM vwBASEChargeShareRelation Where ParentChargeID is NULL
    UNION ALL
    SELECT rh.ParentChargeID, rh.ChargeID, Lvl+1 AS Lvl, ISNULL(rh.TotalAmount, 0), ISNULL(rh.TaxAmount, 0), ISNULL(rh.DiscountAmount, 0) , rh.CustomerID
    , rc.MasterChargeID
    FROM vwBASEChargeShareRelation rh
    INNER JOIN RCTE rc ON rh.PArentChargeID = rc.ChargeID and rh.CustomerID = rc.CustomerID
    Select MasterChargeID as ChargeID, CustomerID, Sum(TotalAmount) as TotalCharged, Sum(TaxAmount) as TotalTax, Sum(DiscountAmount) as TotalDiscount
    from RCTE
    Group by MasterChargeID, CustomerID
    GO
    So far so good, I can query this view and get the total cost for a line item including all children.
    The problem occurs when I join this table. The query:
    Select t.* from vwChargeShareSubCharges t
    inner join
    tblChargeShare s
    on t.CustomerID = s.CustomerID
    and t.MasterChargeID = s.ChargeID
    Where s.ChargeID = 1291094
    Takes around 30 ms to return a result (tblCharge and Charge Share have around 3.5 million records).
    But the query:
    Select t.* from vwChargeShareSubCharges t
    inner join
    tblChargeShare s
    on t.CustomerID = s.CustomerID
    and t.MasterChargeID = s.ChargeID
    Where InvoiceID = 1045854
    Takes around 2 minutes to return a result - even though the only charge with that InvoiceID is the same charge as the one used in the previous query.
    The same thing occurs if I do the join in the same query that the CTE is defined in.
    I ran the execution plan for each query. The first (fast) query looks like this:
    The second(slow) query looks like this:
    I am at a loss, and my skills at decoding execution plans to resolve this are lacking.
    I have separate indexes on tblCharge.ChargeID, tblCharge.ParentChargeID, tblChargeShare.ChargeID, tblChargeShare.InvoiceID, tblChargeShare.ChargeShareStatusID
    Any ideas? Tested on SQL 2008R2 and SQL 2012

    >> The database is linked [sic] to an established app and the column and table names can't be changed. <<
    Link? That is a term from pointer chains and network databases, not SQL. I will guess that means the app came back in the old pre-RDBMS days and you are screwed.
    >> I am not too worried about the money field [sic], this is used for money and money based calculations so the precision and rounding are acceptable at this level. <<
    Field is a COBOL concept; columns are totally different. MONEY is how Sybase mimics the PICTURE clause that puts currency signs, commas, period, etc in a COBOL money field.
    Using more than one operation (multiplication or division) on money columns will produce severe rounding errors. A simple way to visualize money arithmetic is to place a ROUND() function calls after
    every operation. For example,
    Amount = (Portion / total_amt) * gross_amt
    can be rewritten using money arithmetic as:
    Amount = ROUND(ROUND(Portion/total_amt, 4) *
    gross_amt, 4)
    Rounding to four decimal places might not seem an
    issue, until the numbers you are using are greater
    than 10,000.
    BEGIN
    DECLARE @gross_amt MONEY,
     @total_amt MONEY,
     @my_part MONEY,
     @money_result MONEY,
     @float_result FLOAT,
     @all_floats FLOAT;
     SET @gross_amt = 55294.72;
     SET @total_amt = 7328.75;
     SET @my_part = 1793.33;
     SET @money_result = (@my_part / @total_amt) *
    @gross_amt;
     SET @float_result = (@my_part / @total_amt) *
    @gross_amt;
     SET @Retult3 = (CAST(@my_part AS FLOAT)
     / CAST( @total_amt AS FLOAT))
     * CAST(FLOAT, @gross_amt AS FLOAT);
     SELECT @money_result, @float_result, @all_floats;
    END;
    @money_result = 13525.09 -- incorrect
    @float_result = 13525.0885 -- incorrect
    @all_floats = 13530.5038673171 -- correct, with a -
    5.42 error
    >> The keys are ChargeID(int, identity) and ChargeShareID(int, identity). <<
    Sorry, but IDENTITY is not relational and cannot be a key by definition. But it sure works just like a record number in your old COBOL file system.
    >> .. these need to be int so that they are assigned by the database and unique. <<
    No, the data type of a key is not determined by physical storage, but by logical design. IDENTITY is the number of a parking space in a garage; a VIN is how you identify the automobile.
    >> What would you recommend I use as keys? <<
    I do not know. I have no specs and without that, I cannot pull a Kabbalah number from the hardware. Your magic numbers can identify Squids, Automobile or Lady Gaga! I would ask the accounting department how they identify a charge.
    >> Charge_Share_Status_ID links [sic] to another table which contains the name, formatting [sic] and other information [sic] or a charge share's status, so it is both an Id and a status. <<
    More pointer chains! Formatting? Unh? In RDBMS, we use a tiered architecture. That means display formatting is in a presentation layer. A properly created table has cohesion – it does one and only one data element. A status is a state of being that applies
    to an entity over a period time (think employment, marriage, etc. status if that is too abstract).
    An identifier is based on the Law of Identity from formal logic “To be is to be something in particular” or “A is A” informally. There is no entity here! The Charge_Share_Status table should have the encoded values for a status and perhaps a description if
    they are unclear. If the list of values is clear, short and static, then use a CHECK() constraint.
    On a scale from 1 to 10, what color is your favorite letter of the alphabet? Yes, this is literally that silly and wrong.
    >> I understand what a CTE is; is there a better way to sum all children for a parent hierarchy? <<
    There are many ways to represent a tree or hierarchy in SQL.  This is called an adjacency list model and it looks like this:
    CREATE TABLE OrgChart
    (emp_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     boss_emp_name CHAR(10) REFERENCES OrgChart(emp_name),
     salary_amt DECIMAL(6,2) DEFAULT 100.00 NOT NULL,
     << horrible cycle constraints >>);
    OrgChart
    emp_name  boss_emp_name  salary_amt
    ==============================
    'Albert'    NULL    1000.00
    'Bert'    'Albert'   900.00
    'Chuck'   'Albert'   900.00
    'Donna'   'Chuck'    800.00
    'Eddie'   'Chuck'    700.00
    'Fred'    'Chuck'    600.00
    This approach will wind up with really ugly code -- CTEs hiding recursive procedures, horrible cycle prevention code, etc.  The root of your problem is not knowing that rows are not records, that SQL uses sets and trying to fake pointer chains with some
    vague, magical non-relational "id".
    This matches the way we did it in old file systems with pointer chains.  Non-RDBMS programmers are comfortable with it because it looks familiar -- it looks like records and not rows.
    Another way of representing trees is to show them as nested sets.
    Since SQL is a set oriented language, this is a better model than the usual adjacency list approach you see in most text books. Let us define a simple OrgChart table like this.
    CREATE TABLE OrgChart
    (emp_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     lft INTEGER NOT NULL UNIQUE CHECK (lft > 0),
     rgt INTEGER NOT NULL UNIQUE CHECK (rgt > 1),
      CONSTRAINT order_okay CHECK (lft < rgt));
    OrgChart
    emp_name         lft rgt
    ======================
    'Albert'      1   12
    'Bert'        2    3
    'Chuck'       4   11
    'Donna'       5    6
    'Eddie'       7    8
    'Fred'        9   10
    The (lft, rgt) pairs are like tags in a mark-up language, or parens in algebra, BEGIN-END blocks in Algol-family programming languages, etc. -- they bracket a sub-set.  This is a set-oriented approach to trees in a set-oriented language.
    The organizational chart would look like this as a directed graph:
                Albert (1, 12)
        Bert (2, 3)    Chuck (4, 11)
                       /    |   \
                     /      |     \
                   /        |       \
                 /          |         \
            Donna (5, 6) Eddie (7, 8) Fred (9, 10)
    The adjacency list table is denormalized in several ways. We are modeling both the Personnel and the Organizational chart in one table. But for the sake of saving space, pretend that the names are job titles and that we have another table which describes the
    Personnel that hold those positions.
    Another problem with the adjacency list model is that the boss_emp_name and employee columns are the same kind of thing (i.e. identifiers of personnel), and therefore should be shown in only one column in a normalized table.  To prove that this is not
    normalized, assume that "Chuck" changes his name to "Charles"; you have to change his name in both columns and several places. The defining characteristic of a normalized table is that you have one fact, one place, one time.
    The final problem is that the adjacency list model does not model subordination. Authority flows downhill in a hierarchy, but If I fire Chuck, I disconnect all of his subordinates from Albert. There are situations (i.e. water pipes) where this is true, but
    that is not the expected situation in this case.
    To show a tree as nested sets, replace the nodes with ovals, and then nest subordinate ovals inside each other. The root will be the largest oval and will contain every other node.  The leaf nodes will be the innermost ovals with nothing else inside them
    and the nesting will show the hierarchical relationship. The (lft, rgt) columns (I cannot use the reserved words LEFT and RIGHT in SQL) are what show the nesting. This is like XML, HTML or parentheses.
    At this point, the boss_emp_name column is both redundant and denormalized, so it can be dropped. Also, note that the tree structure can be kept in one table and all the information about a node can be put in a second table and they can be joined on employee
    number for queries.
    To convert the graph into a nested sets model think of a little worm crawling along the tree. The worm starts at the top, the root, makes a complete trip around the tree. When he comes to a node, he puts a number in the cell on the side that he is visiting
    and increments his counter.  Each node will get two numbers, one of the right side and one for the left. Computer Science majors will recognize this as a modified preorder tree traversal algorithm. Finally, drop the unneeded OrgChart.boss_emp_name column
    which used to represent the edges of a graph.
    This has some predictable results that we can use for building queries.  The root is always (left = 1, right = 2 * (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TreeTable)); leaf nodes always have (left + 1 = right); subtrees are defined by the BETWEEN predicate; etc. Here are
    two common queries which can be used to build others:
    1. An employee and all their Supervisors, no matter how deep the tree.
     SELECT O2.*
       FROM OrgChart AS O1, OrgChart AS O2
      WHERE O1.lft BETWEEN O2.lft AND O2.rgt
        AND O1.emp_name = :in_emp_name;
    2. The employee and all their subordinates. There is a nice symmetry here.
     SELECT O1.*
       FROM OrgChart AS O1, OrgChart AS O2
      WHERE O1.lft BETWEEN O2.lft AND O2.rgt
        AND O2.emp_name = :in_emp_name;
    3. Add a GROUP BY and aggregate functions to these basic queries and you have hierarchical reports. For example, the total salaries which each employee controls:
     SELECT O2.emp_name, SUM(S1.salary_amt)
       FROM OrgChart AS O1, OrgChart AS O2,
            Salaries AS S1
      WHERE O1.lft BETWEEN O2.lft AND O2.rgt
        AND S1.emp_name = O2.emp_name
       GROUP BY O2.emp_name;
    4. To find the level and the size of the subtree rooted at each emp_name, so you can print the tree as an indented listing.
    SELECT O1.emp_name,
       SUM(CASE WHEN O2.lft BETWEEN O1.lft AND O1.rgt
       THEN O2.sale_amt ELSE 0.00 END) AS sale_amt_tot,
       SUM(CASE WHEN O2.lft BETWEEN O1.lft AND O1.rgt
       THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) AS subtree_size,
       SUM(CASE WHEN O1.lft BETWEEN O2.lft AND O2.rgt
       THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) AS lvl
      FROM OrgChart AS O1, OrgChart AS O2
     GROUP BY O1.emp_name;
    5. The nested set model has an implied ordering of siblings which the adjacency list model does not. To insert a new node, G1, under part G.  We can insert one node at a time like this:
    BEGIN ATOMIC
    DECLARE rightmost_spread INTEGER;
    SET rightmost_spread
        = (SELECT rgt
             FROM Frammis
            WHERE part = 'G');
    UPDATE Frammis
       SET lft = CASE WHEN lft > rightmost_spread
                      THEN lft + 2
                      ELSE lft END,
           rgt = CASE WHEN rgt >= rightmost_spread
                      THEN rgt + 2
                      ELSE rgt END
     WHERE rgt >= rightmost_spread;
     INSERT INTO Frammis (part, lft, rgt)
     VALUES ('G1', rightmost_spread, (rightmost_spread + 1));
     COMMIT WORK;
    END;
    The idea is to spread the (lft, rgt) numbers after the youngest child of the parent, G in this case, over by two to make room for the new addition, G1.  This procedure will add the new node to the rightmost child position, which helps to preserve the idea
    of an age order among the siblings.
    6. To convert a nested sets model into an adjacency list model:
    SELECT B.emp_name AS boss_emp_name, E.emp_name
      FROM OrgChart AS E
           LEFT OUTER JOIN
           OrgChart AS B
           ON B.lft
              = (SELECT MAX(lft)
                   FROM OrgChart AS S
                  WHERE E.lft > S.lft
                    AND E.lft < S.rgt);
    7. To find the immediate parent of a node:
    SELECT MAX(P2.lft), MIN(P2.rgt)
      FROM Personnel AS P1, Personnel AS P2
     WHERE P1.lft BETWEEN P2.lft AND P2.rgt
       AND P1.emp_name = @my_emp_name;
    I have a book on TREES & HIERARCHIES IN SQL which you can get at Amazon.com right now. It has a lot of other programming idioms for nested sets, like levels, structural comparisons, re-arrangement procedures, etc.

  • Basic question - Problems with basic query - Mask = INSIDE

    Greetings,
    I'm doing a basic query on Oracle 10g Spatial, is to determine the intersection between two layers (one point called "Calidad1") and other polygons, called "Parishes")
    For issuing the following query based on the documentation of oracle:
    "select C1.ID, C1.SECUENCIA,
    P. COD_ENTIDAD, P. STATE
    Cod_county P., P. TOWNSHIP,
    P. COD_PARROQUIA, P. PARISH
    from CALIDAD1 c1,
    PARISHES p
    where sdo_relate (c1.geoloc, p.geoloc, 'mask = INSIDE querytype = WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
    order by C1.ID;
    When I run the query, no errors but extends too long (more than 10 minutes) and no end, I have to cancel.
    Canceling shows me the following error:
    "ORA-13268: error obtaining dimension from USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.MD", line 1723
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.MDERR", line 8
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_3GL", line 89 "
    This query is very basic and the data volume is small, a conclusion: I must be skipping a step or activity.
    Can you guide a little to resolve this situation and get the query that I need?
    Thanks to all

    First, try this query with the ordered hint and also note the change in the FROM clause.
    select /*+ ordered */ C1.ID, C1.SECUENCIA,
    P. COD_ENTIDAD, P. STATE
    Cod_county P., P. TOWNSHIP,
    P. COD_PARROQUIA, P. PARISH
    from PARISHES p,
    CALIDAD1 c1,
    where sdo_relate (c1.geoloc, p.geoloc, 'mask = INSIDE querytype = WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
    order by C1.ID;
    See if this is using the index as expected. If not try this:
    select /*+ ordered index(p name_of_the_spatial_index_on_the_PARISH_Table) */
    C1.ID, C1.SECUENCIA,
    P. COD_ENTIDAD, P. STATE
    Cod_county P., P. TOWNSHIP,
    P. COD_PARROQUIA, P. PARISH
    from PARISHES p,
    CALIDAD1 c1,
    where sdo_relate (c1.geoloc, p.geoloc, 'mask = INSIDE querytype = WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
    order by C1.ID;

  • A very basic question regarding data block

    Hi All,
    I've a very basic question concerning data blocks in oracle forms 10g.
    I want to make a view only screen (only query allowed, no update, insert or delete).
    I'll have 6-7 fields on the screen but all the fields are not from a single table.
    For e.g, let say we've field names to display on the screen are f1, f2, f3, f4..
    Out of this f1 and f2 will come from table A and f3, f4 will come from table B.
    Now, my question : Is it possible to create a data block using the data block wizard for such situation if we select create data block from table options?
    If no, can you please tell me an approach to do this.
    Regards,
    Navnit

    Hello ,
    First write your query & select datablock property.
    just change the below properties
    Query Data Source Type=From Clause Query
    Query Data Source Name = (Paste query here)
    now you should add the block ITEMs and give their names according to query columns names. shows the column on canvas and run..
    Best Regard

  • Basic Query on CQ 5

    Hi,
    I have a basic query about CQ5 ,actually i will be getting training on it ,i have the following doubts:-
    1)I am a beginner in JAva and related technologies,does one need to be an expert in java to understand CQ5?
    2)I have mainly worked on Teamsite CMS before,how easy is it for someone from that background to adapt to DAY CQ/
    I can go through all the java concepts which are mandatory in CQ5 understanding,please guide regarding them.
    Looking forward for expert guidance.
    Regards,
    Raul

    Hi Raul,
    Here's my 2 cents:
    1)I am a beginner in JAva and related technologies,does one need to be an expert in java to understand CQ5?
    No - and - depends.  CQ is an enterprise level CMS.  As such, it has many many bits and bobs.  There is a back-end Java element, a front-end JavaScript/ExtJS element, and a bunch of stuff between the two (sling, crx, osgi, etc.).  My best recommendation would be get on a project with a skilled architect in which you are being given components or other parts/pieces to work on. That will give you hands on guidance on building CQ and direct access to seeing an entire project go up from soup-to-nuts.  Also, if you haven't already, try to get to an Adobe CQ Dev training class.  That will really help jump start your knowledge and get you off on the right foot.
    2)I have mainly worked on Teamsite CMS before,how easy is it for someone from that background to adapt to DAY CQ/
    Any previous CMS knowledge is definintely helpful.  Teamsite is VERY different to CQ.  However, the goal is the same.  Content authors need a way of entering content that ultimately gets displayed and served up as a web page.  Teamsite does this with forms whereas CQ does this more inline on the page... If you've ever worked with Teamsite Sitepublisher, that's even better.  Either way, having CMS experience is definitely helpful.

  • Basic Query Creation

    Hello,
    Our company is about to go live with B1 and E commerce. We are very much looking forward to getting the ball rolling: the old MOM system and Sitelink shopping cart is causing issues!
    Anyway, before i go too much further i would like to get hold of some basic Query creation documentation. So far i have been unable to find any.
    If i have posted this in the wrong discussion group i apologies.
    I look forward to hearing your comments and becoming a regular in this group,
    Thanks,
    Charlie

  • If I upgrade to Mountain Lion on the computer that will install it, will my WIFI still work on the computer that cannot be upgraded? I know this is a very basic question

    If I upgrade to Mountain Lion on the computer that will install it, will my WIFI still work on the computer that cannot be upgraded? I know this is a very basic question. Trying to hold out as long as I can, but purchasing an iPhone for Christmas and new iMac next year when warrently expires.

    Thank U very much for the quick reply, I wanted to upgrade this weekend, but still on the fence. I can live with the software that is not compatible, they are on another compuetr, just didn't want the obvious stuff to stop working.

  • Basic query in Oracle Spatial

    I'm trying to learn Oracle Spatial working with 11g R2 and with 3D georeferenced data (specifically data describing buildings in a city).
    But I'm having trouble getting a basic query to work on my dataset (it works for the book example), and I'm trying to do it exactly the way it's done in the Spatial Developer's Guide for 11g.
    To learn how spatial queries work, I set up the cola_markets tables used in the book, made the appropriate manual entry in the user_sdo_geom_metadata view and created the index. Having done that, I can run the following simple query (as well as the others in the manual) on the book tables:
    SELECT SDO_GEOM.SDO_DISTANCE(c_b.shape, c_d.shape, 0.005)
    FROM cola_markets c_b, cola_markets c_d
    WHERE c_b.name = 'cola_b' AND c_d.name = 'cola_d';
    but when I try to do the same thing on my own tables (created from citygml data), I get an error. There is the difference that the data is 3D, and the index was created without any PARAMETERS ( ... ), hence is just 2D. But still I don't get why the following query doesn't work:
    SELECT SDO_GEOM.SDO_DISTANCE(c_w.envelope, c_b.envelope, 0.0005)
    FROM cityobject c_w,
         cityobject c_b
    WHERE c_w.id = 50025
         AND c_b.id = 50018;
    The id's for the buildings are valid, and I used the same tolerance used by the software that set up the database.
    Here's the error I get in SQL developer:
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.Exception: 54535
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_3GL", line 637
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_GEOM", line 1973
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_GEOM", line 1990
    29532. 00000 - "Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: %s"
    *Cause: A Java exception or error was signaled and could not be
         resolved by the Java code.
    *Action: Modify Java code, if this behavior is not intended.
    So, thinking it might have something to do with the fact that it's a Java interface, I also tried running it from SQL/PL command line and get essentially the same thing:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception:
    java.lang.Exception: 54535
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_3GL", line 637
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_GEOM", line 1973
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_GEOM", line 1990
    Any ideas why this isn't working?
    (P.S.: I couldn't find a specific board for Oracle Spatial, hence put this question here--if there's a better place for this question, then, admins, of course, feel free to move the thread to the appropriate spot)

  • Can someone help me with a very basic guide to animated gif with elements 11?

    Hi
    I bought Adobe elements 11 and have been trying to do a very basic animated gif with it.I came acroos some instructions about layering,etc but still cannot get it to work. All I want to do is add two of my school photos together so that one suddenly vanishes and the one appears.I am planning to put this on my blog.
    The animation I want is the day time picture of teh school magically vanish and the night time picture appear.Can it be done with elements11(I wouldn't mind if someone can even do it for me so that I could deconstruct it later!).I have attached the two photos.Please remember ,my knowledge of phtoshop is abysmal and very very basic.My apologies for that.hence I might be need to be told like a 10-year old!
    Please help as I need this fast! Karen.

    It’s not possible to fade between gif images but you could sandwich two layers with a black fill layer between them as I have done in this example.
    Then use the menu:
    File >> Save For Web
    Choose gif as the file type, select animate, and set your timing in seconds with continuous loop if required.
    Then Save.
    PS the images are different sizes so I had to re-size the daylight image to make it the same as the night image.

  • Possibly a very basic question but I have set up a spread sheet in Numbers and have viewed help videos but I can't get it to give me sums for the columns I highlight.  Keeps coming up with the figure zero.  I have version 09 2.3(554). Can anyone help

    Possibly a very basic question but I am going nowhere without a solution.  I have set up a spreadsheet in Numbers but it won't give me sums for chosen columns. I  have viewed the run through videos and used the formula but nothing happens apart from giving a figure of zero or a red arrow.  The sum icon in the bottom left hand section of the window does not highlight or show any total as I understand from the video that you can drag whatever total is here onto the relevent position on your spreadsheet.  I have Numbers 09 version 2.3 (554). Can anyone advise. Thanks.

    Hi Sohojools,
    To sum a column, use a formula such as this one in Cell A6
    Type this in a cell below your data:
    =SUM(A2:A4) or whatever range of cells you want to sum. The easy way is to type:
    =SUM(
    and then drag or shift-click to select the range of cells. Close the formula with a final bracket ")".
    The sum icon in the bottom left hand section of the window does not highlight or show any total
    To see the sum (and other simple statistics) in the bottom left, select a range of cells. That tells Numbers which cells you are refering to.
    The videos are good, but the Numbers'09 User guide, and the Formulas and Functions User Guide are better. Download them from the Help Menu in Numbers.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Very Basic Question i think ?

    Hi im very new to flash but am looking to learn some more
    about it i have tried to use the pre-built components in flash and
    was just wondering where or how you can retrieve the values from
    the checked boxes
    i know how to do for 1 checkbox by using
    if ( instancename.value = true){
    trace("Box was ticked");
    but what i am looking to do is run through a series of 5
    checkboxes and retrieve all the labels at first i can probably work
    out the checking if they are ticked but all i get traced is
    undefined which i guess means no value.
    This is the code i used to try to retrieve all the labels of
    every checkbox on press of a button
    on(release)
    trace("Clicked");
    var i = 1;
    while (i < 5){
    trace("While Running");
    i++;
    trace(CheckBox
    .Label);
    trace(i);
    It would be most appreciated if anyone could point me in the
    right direction for very basic tutorials on flash components as i
    could only find the macromedia livedocs which i didnt find a lot of
    help as its all technical speak which i am not familiar with
    yet....
    Thanks Pinky

    Many Thanks!!!!!
    This was the output i had to change the for to say i < 6
    to do the final checkbox but it is exactly whati wanted to do
    without having to use multiple if,s :D
    Many Thanks now just gotta try to work my head round
    comboboxes which i would have to start a new thread :D lol

  • VERY Basic Questions about Oracle eBusiness - what "languages" are used?

    Please forgive the very basic nature of this post- (I have been in systems (IT) for over 20 years, so I do have lots of systems experience, but no exposure to this particular software.)
    So here are the basic questions - I assume that much of the data base logic is written in PL/SQL, but what other tools / languages are the applications written in?
    (Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Java, C, something else?)
    With over 20 years and experience with a number of other packages, I can learn a great deal about an application by 1. Looking at the DB structures (charts), 2. looking into DB code (Packages, triggers, procedure, functions) and 3. Seeing the screen shots.
    None of my customers have had Oracle eBusiness - that have had home grown applications or other COTS/packages.
    can anyone suggest a place where an independent person can inexpensively get some exposure?
    My sincere thanks for any answers/suggestions.

  • Very basic questions on text/email

    So I'm now convinced - with the 3.0 OS and the 3GS handset, the iPhone finally does all I want it to do and I'll be buying my first one in a couple of weeks.
    Before I do, though, I have a couple of very basic questions:
    1. Does predictive text only work in the SMS app, or does it work in the apps for email, writing notes, etc?
    2. Can you turn the predictive text off? (I find it wildly irritating, because I know far better what words I want to write than a pesky phone does!)
    3. Having email sent to a mobile is a whole new world for me! Do I need to subscribe to MobileMe at £££ per month, or is there another way of having email from my three accounts forwarded to my mobile?
    Hope someone can help!
    Cheers,

    1. Does predictive text only work in the SMS app, or does it work in the apps for email, writing notes, etc?
    It works with Safari, the Mail client, the Notes app, and with the SMS app.
    2. Can you turn the predictive text off? (I find it wildly irritating, because I know far better what words I want to write than a pesky phone does!)
    Yes.
    3. Having email sent to a mobile is a whole new world for me! Do I need to subscribe to MobileMe at £££ per month, or is there another way of having email from my three accounts forwarded to my mobile?
    You can access any IMAP or POP account with the iPhone's Mail client, and access multiple email accounts. I currently access to email accounts with the iPhone's mail client - my MobileMe account, and a business POP account. You can access all 3 of your email accounts with the iPhone's Mail client.
