Video converting program

I'm looking for a program, preferably free, that will convert video files into a format that will play on the ipod touch, 2nd gen. Anyone know of any good ones?

  • Any good video converter programs?

i was wondering if anyone knew of any good video converting programs to convert from different file formats, such as .mov to mp4, avi to mpeg, etc., where u can specify the final outputted file size. for example, ive used handbrake to convert my dvd's for my ipod and it allowed me to specify how big i wanted the video file to be at the end. is there anything like this, but not for dvd's? thanks for any help!
    Macbook Pro 15.4 1.83   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   80gb 1.5gigs ram

    it's a funny name.
I want to thank you for using that screen name. makes me giggle every time you post.
Compressor really is a powerful application and can create beautiful files. But you really need to know what you're doing or you can adjust the wrong setting and create something really ugly.
QuickTime Pro is a little more user friendly. Not as many options, but it can do quite a bit.
Sorenson Squeeze is another good one. I used to use it all the time on the PC, but since I've figured out Compressor, I rarely open it.

  • Best video converter program

Can comeone tell me the best program to use to convert your videos? I tried videora and it gave my computer a huge virus and the whole thing crashed. I have also heard that quicktime pro 7 takes a long time and is better for mac users? Any other suggestions to my ongoing struggle with converting videos?

Samething happened to me , got a virus from videroa and my mose diddn't work. but anyway try total video converter. Its free for 15 days , so convert all of the videos you want to go to the ipod before times up. :-P
And if you are trying to find a good free Video converter , good luck becuase I doubt it...

  • Video - Converting Programs for Mac

    hi..
i just need a FREE program that will convert my existing videos
into that in which my ipod will recognize..
    thankyou
    molly

What you installed is a QT component from Flip4Mac. It allows QT Pro or other applications that tap into the QT Tools package to export and/or transcode WMV files. Unfortunately, Flip4Mac wants about $50 for you to register the component and gain full use of these routines. This is about 2 and a half times what I think it is worth, so I don't use it. Best bet is to either try to find the music videos in another format (like MPEG1) or see if there is another program that will convert WMV to a format (like AVI or MPEG1) which iSquint can handle. Since I don't use WMV, I have never looked for such a Mac application, but perhaps other readers have and can post their recommendations here.

  • IPod Video Converter Programs

    Hi,
This doesn't really pertain to the optical drive nor a Macbook really but, I was wondering if there were any free video converters that convert movie files to an iPod/iPhone compatible format. For example iSquint (http://www.isquint.org/) is great, but although it is free it only converts maximum like 5% of the film clip. I'm looking for something more along the lines of Quicktime 7 Pro (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/pro/) which exports edited clips to various formats (including iPod/iPhone). Remember, I would like free programs, possible anything under $9.99. Thank you!

    thealexness,
Really, you have answered your own question, even if not to your liking :-P
Quicktime Pro is the answer. Yes, it's more than "$9.99," but not that much more ($30). For your $30, you get absolutely the most bang for the buck that you will ever get from any software purchase. In addition to the transcoding abilities that come with QTP, you also get many cool playback features: Full-screen playback, A/V control panels (for slowing things down or speeding them up, live color/tint/brightness correction, etc., etc.)... the list goes on and on.
There's simply nothing better, or anywhere near as flexible.

  • Suggestion on video converting program on Mac?

We all know QT doesn't work. Anything else? I have tried Podner which does the same as QT as in not transfering sound, and i have Handbrake which works great (though a little slow) on ripping off DVDs, but what about videos i made or clips from the internet? I have a PC and used Videora which i see works pretty good but only problem is transfering such a big file from comp to comp, i could use e-mail but it would take a long time to upload. Any sugestions?

  • Video Converter like Super for Linux?

I use Super by erightsoft to convert avi files into MP4's to view on the N95.
Am now considering moving from Windows to Linux.
Does anyone have any experience of a Linux video converter program that works?

    Maybe this?

What specifically are you looking to do?  Integrate with iMovie?  Generically convert video between formats?

  • IPad Video Converter

    Hi
I just bought an IPad 2 yesterday and wanted to upload some videos of my newborn son on them to show family and others. The videos are in .avi and I know those are not compatiable with Apple products including the IPad. I saw that Apple has listed a couple but they are for Macs only and I have a PC. So my first question is do those (EM Total Video Converter or Tanbee) come in a PC version and where can I get that? Question 2 if not what is a good Video converter program and what setting should I use when converting? I dont want to take up all the space on my IPad but I also dont want bad resolution for my Videos.
    Thanks In Advance!

    Handbrake.
It's free, works great, has iPad preset and is universal(divx, xvid,DVD,etc).

  • Refer me to a video to iPod converter program, please!

What's a girl with a PC and ipod to do? I find Cucus0ft, even with a key, to be busted and tired. I've had no help from quicktime.
Where's my video converter in shining armor?
I've got 5 seasons of .AVI Kids in the Hall to get off my computer and onto my ipod! I've installed and uninstalled so many things so many times my head is going to fall off! I need something that will get my .avi to ipod.
Please help! I need links to clean free software or names of software I can download w/ a key myself.

You know, I have no idea how to use that. The closest it seemed to getting what I want done is making the .avi readable for Quicktime or something.
So I have to go through a week of getting the .avi to Quicktime, then Quicktime to convert to ipod?
Maybe I just have no idea how to use it, because the instructions are useless as far as I've read.
My free download of CuCus0ft w/ key just closes every time I try to select a file to convert. I made it work one time, but now it's useless, even though that really was the best program for the job.
I keep trying to download non-trial versions of it to see if it'll work, but they're hard to come by for some reason and no, they don't work for me.
Really it's quite sad, because not being able to do everything I want without paying $10,000 is pretty lame and makes me feel as though the money on my ipod was wasted.

  • Best program for TOD video converting Yosemite?

Can anyone recommend a good free program for converting TOD/MOD videos on Yosemite?
I used Handbrake for a period of time but it rarely updates and needs quite a lot of tweaking to get exactly the desired result, which makes me annoyed. I am still using the iPhone 4S profile.
    Thanks.

macx video converter is the software I'm using now to finish my video conversion. It rocks with Yosemite and my MacBook Air. It supports a wide range of videos as input, like AVI, MOV, TOD, MOD, MKV, M2TS, FLV, WMV, etc.
I think it is good enough for me. You can have a try.

  • Video converter

    Hello, every body..
I am proudly using _G4Ibook,OS 10.3.9 Panther,Ilife'5_ and I know that I cannot update software anymore..even security updates are no longer for me. So, here is what I would love to have your valuable opinion on:
I use vixy.net to download videos from youtube but lately I get a video without sound. I can read "restriction mode" flashing on the top of vixy's window.
It is not clear to me what its going on..bugs, I think! and more sophisticated software update on their part that requires 10.4.
Every other converter that found again, not for my OS. So,I realize that is time to buy a video converter software since a new computer is out of the question at this time but I would like to have your advice on that purchase. I am looking for compatibility..if any at this point. I only need it to convert to mov in order to include these videos in my I movie(5.0.2) projects.
    Thank you, guys!

Not wanting to scare you, but all of Panther is no longer being supported by Security Updates (I believe) and now potentially has holes.
Just about any program has bugs, it just depends upon whether or not they have been found. Old ones get exchanged for new ones as new features are introduced. I have used programs with known bugs, but I also looked at what they were (for the most part) and figured I would just avoid doing the buggy actions and happily continued to use the software for may years.
