Video in flash issues

Hi there
Relatively new to all this so.. hope I'm in the right place to ask this question.
I'm designing a website using dreamweaver, flash, etc.
I want one of the pages on my website to contain a short video that plays as soon as the page is uploaded.
(The video, designed with After Effects, contains both text and a some moving images.)
So I have two options.. I think.
Option One
Have the short video uploaded to my website as an flv video within html page.
What I don't want, however, is a swf skin to appear on the page, with video controls, etc.
In other word, I need the skin to be invisible.
Dreamweaver doesn't appear to give me this option.
Option Two
As the video is relatively short, I thought about uploading it as an swf which contains the flv video.
I did this using Flash. The video played automatically when the user loaded the page.. which was great..
BUT.. instead of stopping on the final image, the video always went back to the start again..
I need the video to stop at the end of the video (with the final images and text, etc).
In both cases, the flv video is downloaded progressively, which is good, but both options
have their problems..
Er.. anyone got any ideas? Or point me in another direction, etc. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Can't you just put a "gotoAndStop([frame number])" action in the Flash File that you're authoring the SWF in?

Still can't watch videos with flash

I am a firefox user. In some sites, the videos require flash and windows media. I have both installed . but, there are still some videos I can't view and when I ask the site to test what software is missing, it says that I do NOT have the flash installed...
Last time it did work, I enabled/disabled some plugins, and then it suddenly did work - I just don't rememeber what exactly I did ... and it doesn't seem to work now.

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox 13 are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.

If you've already tried all this, I'd suggest the following:
Install Firefox 14.0.1.
Update your graphics driver and Windows. [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Then test again.

Adobe Flash issues

I have both an Imac, mac book air, and mac book, all running ML. When using either Safari or Chrome, and right click and go to the settings for flash, you can't click on anything. It works fine with Firefox. And I also find video chat always lags. Is this a flash issue only with these to web browers? or something else?

MOBIOLA WEBCAM and FLASH Issue

Hello,
I've used for a long time Mobiola WEBCAM (app that turns one's iPhone/iPad into a webcam via WIFI) in Skype and video chat sites like Omegle (all done through GOOGLE CHROME), up until yesterday.
As of today, any of my browsers or my Skype applications on my MAC MINI won't recognize my VIdeo FEED.
I do get a connection between the iPhone/iPAD and the MAC MINI, but the VIDEO is not being "fed/transferred" for some reason to the browsers or Skype.
Is it a adobe flash issue? Mac os x issue? I should I proceed?

Skype version: 6.15
MAC OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5
iOs: 8.1.1 (on both ipad and iphone)
Google Chrome: 39.0.2171.71 (64-bit)

From your posted info, you have been thorough in your troubleshooting and research.
Because your iSight works perfectly in every app aside from flash, iSight is not your problem.
Your problem seems to me to be entirely with Flash. Here follow my best suggestions.
(1) If all your software is up to date and working properly otherwise, your best answers for your Flash-specific problem should be from Adobe, whether via Settings/Help, Flash Forum, or personal assistance. You can find links to all of Adobe's comprehensive help offerings here:

(2) Although I doubt it will help you, if you have a current Flash version installed and want to try one more thing before using Adobe Help, applying the 10.6.6 Combo Update might help you:
• Backup your Mac and turn off Time Machine
• Disconnect peripherals and restart Mac
• Use Disk Utility to repair permissions
• Download and install http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1349
• Repair permissions again immediately following the restart that finishes the update.
• Test Flash. Reconnect needed peripherals and test again.
(• Turn Time Machine on again when you are satisfied that the update worked.)
Although I don't think the Combo Update is likely to resolve your problem, it costs nothing but a bit of time to find out if it helps your system.
We will watch for your status update.

Youtube video requiring Flash Player

Some of Youtube video requires Flash Player. I installed it successfully, but I still encounter the same error message. It appears that I have not installed ActiveX control. How do I install it. BTW, is the ActiveX control the issue here or somethingelse is going on?

Video Pixelation occurs while recording the video using flash player

Hello,
I am recording the video using flash player 9 ( using the
flash media server 2.0 on the back end). Everything used to work
fine in the past. The quality of the flv video was good. Now
suddently, I have started seeing the pixelation in the recorded
video (very poor video quality). Nothing has been changed in the
code. However on the server side, I am not very sure if there is
any windows update has taken place and have caused the problem with
the codec on server.
However my understanding is that when we record the video
then flash player use its own codec not the flash media server.
Can any one help me on how I can get rid of pixelation
issues?

I might not be understanding the question right, but if you
are using Flash
Player 6, and the Flash Player 6 video player component, you
can resize the
video by resizing the component on the stage (just drag and
make it larger).

[SOLVED]youtube and flash issue

So, I've got a flash issue that only happens on youtube. It looks like this:
It happens every time I open a browser (on both firefox and chrome) and goes away after refreshing the page, but its kinda annoying to refresh the page every time I wanna watch a video. Also when switching to fullscreen the video stays in software video rendering when it should switch to accelerated rendering so I get around 10 fps making the video unwatchable (this doesnt happen with windows on the same hardware).
Other flash websites like vimeo work fine and I can watch vimeo HD videos in fullscreen without any issue.
This started happening when youtube introduced the new black look of their player (it was all fine and dandy before), and its bothering me ever since so I'm now using flashvideoreplacer extension for firefox but I still want flash to work properly so I can use chrome again.
I'm using 64-bit arch, flashplugin from extra (getting the same effect with any other flashplugin from AUR) and EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode is set to 1 in /etc/adobe/mms.conf
Oh and I've tried this on Ubuntu live cd and controls work fine but accelerated video still doesnt work.
Any help would be appreciated.
SOLVED:Graphic problem is resolved after installing new version of flashplugin, but still no HW acceleration.

strangest thing... a few 'non-youtube' sites still work ok, but still complain 'no javascript' ..
so went to firefox (v17.0.4 ESR) 'tools, options, content' and yup, javascript UNTICKED!! :O :O my bad memory? something else??? {shrugs}

Aggregated Adobe Captivate Video in Flash Media Server

Hey,
Has anyone attempted to implement a captivate video into Flash Media Server?
I specifically need to know if an aggregated Captivate video will work in Flash Streaming Server. The reason I am not sure that it will is because there are multiple .swf files that an Aggregated video must communicate with and I wonder if that will cause any issues.
Please let me know if you've run into any problems, if this works, or if you have any other information.

So an Aggregated Captivate Video is basically a compilation of several other Captivate Videos. To see what I mean, open up Captivate
go to File --> New Project-->Aggregator Project.
Choose the .swf files of published projects that you want to run together as a single video (aggregated .swf).
Then, publish the Aggregator Video and you will generate a .swf file that plays all the ones you selected previously.
So basically I am worried that Flash Media Server won't work because the main video file (the aggregated .swf) uses the component .swf files to play.
Any thoughts?

Problem with video blinking/flashing when Observing/Controling

I have noticed recently that whenever I Observe or Control an Aluminum iMac, the video blinks/flashes which obviously is very annoying. Any other Mac this does not occur. Any ideas what might be happening?

I just discovered turning off "Fit to Screen" gets rid of the flashing or blinking display issue when observing or controlling another Mac. Weird...

Stage Video Using Flash Builder 4.51

Hi,
I am using Flash Builder 4.51, and I cannot get StageVideo to run. My machine is capable of playing StageVideo as I tested the Big Buck Bunny example and saw the change when flicking between StageVideo and normal Video.
Flash Builder shows that the build that I have is 4.5.1.313231. All the tutorial examples I have seen are built using Flex Hero build 18623 which I believe is earlier. So my question is was StageVideo removed somehow when Flash Builder 4.5 and 4.51 were released?
If it should work on 4.5.1, can anybody give me some tips on what to check or provide some minimal code and instructions to get the expression stage.stageVideos.length to be something different to 0?
I have changed made sure the wrapper uses wmode="direct", I am using version 11 of the Flash Player, I have a parameter on the compiler for " -swf-version=11".
When I export the swf from Flash Builder to my web page I still can't get StageVideo to work either locally or on the server.
I've run out of ideas with this one.
Any ideas?

I'm glad its working for you, that's encouraging.
I'm just trying to confirm that we are using the same setup. When you say you have installed the eclipse plugin, does that mean you install Flash Builder or are you using the Flex SDK through eclipse? I agree that FP11.2 is not the issue since StageVideo works if I run the Big Buck Bunny example.
Also, just to confirm we are talking about the same thing, if you create a new project in Flash Builder and put in the following two methods, are you able to get the "str" variable in the second method to show "Available". If so, what additional steps do you take after create project?

All videos requiring Flash crash

Hi, I have been having this problem the past few months where all videos requiring Flash crash. I use Chrome, but I have tried with IE and Firefox and the problem persists. On YouTube videos, for example, they freeze every minute or so and eventually turn green and crash. I have disabled hardware acceleration. I checked and have the most updated version of Flash for Chrome. My computer is pretty nice and is less than 1 year old, so it's really frustrating having serious issues like this already. Not being able to watch a simple video stinks! I have a pretty good anti-virus software and am pretty computer/internet-literate, so I don't think I have a virus. I also did the Flash troubleshooting tutorial, and this did not help.

21.5" iMac i3 2010 mid screen flash issue

Mine is i3 entry level iMac. When I activate the screen shortly after it goes to sleep, the screen will flash once before it come to steady. I use expose to demonstrate this problem. This also happens when my iMac is set to restart. Is it the norm???

I use both native and non-active resolution, this screen flash issue still happens. For my other Mac screen, they just lit up and come to steady immediately. I wonder if all i3 entry level iMac have this issue. But it is strange that the screen seems unable to lit up right after you activate the screen.

I am having trouble viewing iStore. It appears as if its a Flash issue, as several minutes after logging in to iStore I get a non-flash page of iStore in my iTunes window. I have re-installed everything and tried opening all ports in router....any ideas?

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

How do i play my videos in flash file after moving SWF file to website?

Hello all,
I am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
Does anyone know how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.
Sorry if I've waffled but I'm trying to clear up my situation .

i am using the website wix, so in order to put the swf file up you just click the "Upload SWF" button, so i don't know how i could put the videos along with the swf, the swf is just sat on the page once i upload it.
second, when using this type of website do you know how i'd go about giving the website the permissions to play flv files?
