Video Not Marking as Complete Until Exit Button is Clicked?

I recieved the following feedback from one of our clients. They are using an AICC based LMS.
"We noticed that in order for the video to mark as completed, we need to have all of the chapters checked off, quiz must be taken, and the user has to press the small Exit button."
Do users actually have to press the exit button before a video will send "completed" to an LMS? Is there a work around?
Thanks!

What Captivate version are you using?
This is happening based upon the Quiz Preferences - Reporting Settings that you have configured.
Yes, you can customize the settings to mark completeing on basis of user access, slide view, Quiz attempts and many more criteria.
Please choose and customize based upon your requirement--
Instead of making the user hit the close button, you can yourself set Captivate to Close the course once it reaches the end.
You can do that fron Start and End Settings under Preferences.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,

  • Course will not play in LMS until the Exit button is clicked

    I'm stumped.  I've created a course that plays fine until I enable reporting in our LMS.  This is the first course we've created in Captivate 5, and I'm using the same Quiz Reporting settings that we used in Captivate 4 (that always worked).  If the course is published to the LMS without quiz reporting enabled, the course plays fine.
    However, if the course is published to the LMS with Quiz Reporting enabled, then the course freezes on the first slide, and will not play until the Exit Button in the playback controls is clicked.  All of the other buttons cease to function until the exit button is clicked as well.
    Any ideas on what could be causing this?

    Just a quick update... I was able to resolve our issue.
    (in case anybody else runs into this issue, maybe this will help)
    We were using AICC to report back to our LMS (Saba) and it's always caused various kinds of problems with Captivate v4.  We were using some sort of work around to get the reporting to work properly.  I was trying to use the same work around we used in v4 with v5, which (I'm totally guessing here) was what was causing the problem.
    Instead of using AICC, I uploaded a SCORM package to our LMS, and everythings been working great since.

  • LabVIEW serial command does not appear to complete until I open a Hyperterm.

    I can command my device using hyperterm. However, the LabIEW command does not appear to complete. I issue the command in LabVIEW and then open the hyperterm to verify the command was recevied (status query). When I start the hyperterm session (with a carriage return), I get a response from the device stating that it is performing the requested action, and then (after 1-2s) a response stating that the action has completed. I have tried commanding using both the VISA protocol and the basic serial I/O. I have also tried , and as my termination character in LabVIEW.

    But are you explicitly sending the termination character from LabVIEW? Just setting the termchar applies only to read operations, not writes.
    If you want VISA to send the termchar for you on write operations, set the property "ASRL End Out" to "TermChar".
    And if you are appending the termchar manually to the strings you send, make sure your LabVIEW strings have the backslash codes view turned on so you're actually sending the right code (instead of sending an actual backslash code itself across the serial cable).

  • Play motion tween until other button gets clicked

    I want to make an animation where a person dances: there are 4 buttons and when one button gets clicked, the person starts and loops a specific motion tween. I already have everything, until now only a picture is shown on click:
    function clickSpecialMove(event:Event):void {
    ! trace("SpecialMove");
    ! gotoAndStop("SpecialMove");
    BeHappy.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickBeHappy);
    function clickBeHappy(event:Event):void {
    trace("BeHappy");
    gotoAndStop("BeHappy");
    Twinkle.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickTwinkle);
    function clickTwinkle(event:Event):void {
    ! trace("Twinkle");
    ! gotoAndStop("Twinkle");
    HandsUp.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandsUp);
    function clickHandsUp(event:Event):void {
    ! trace("HandsUp");
    ! gotoAndStop("HandsUp");
    but I wan't a motion tween to play:
    gotoAndPlay("motionTwinkle"); does not work, then all motion tweens just walkr through like in a film :...can anybody help me? that would be so nice thank you!

    How do you implement the animations?  What makes the animation loop?  For all of the code you show you only have gotoAndStop() commands.  What do those have to do with the gotoAndPlay() you mention?  Why do you have exclamation marks leading several lines - remove those if they are actually in your code?

  • Forcing an Applescript Screen to stay active until a button in clicked...

    I'm trying to get an Applescript to run, which will display a message either before of after a user has logged on to his/her account. Only when the button is clicked will the user then be allowed to continue using his/her computer.
    Another member gave me the following script, which works well on OS 9 Macs, but when used on OS X macs, the message is displayed, but the user can ignore the message and continue working away. How can I force the user to click the OK button before he/she is allowed to contine?
    on run
    display dialog "Do not use this computer for anything naughty!" buttons {"OK"} with icon 2
    end run
    Thanks in advance...

    Thanks again all for the quick replies. Your help is greatly appreciated! :)
    OK, well I've tried requestFocus() and requestFocusInWindow() (which is supposedly recommended according to the API notes)
    What I've done is to put a focus request in both a mouseEntered event and in the start method of the applet, with a focusListener added to see when focus is gained.
    For some reason, focus is still not gained until the mouse is actually pointing in the applet. Maybe this is on purpose? My request for focus in the start method seems to fail.
    Here's a snippet of both the start method and the mouseenter:
         public void start() {
              message="starting!";
              requestFocusInWindow();
         public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent event) {
              requestFocusInWindow();
    As you can see, it's really simple. The message changes as soon as the focus is gained, via the interface for FocusListener.
    So it's better! It accepts my keyboard input right away as long as the mouse is in the applet area. However, it still doesn't accept my kybd input from the get-go if the mouse cursor isn't in the applet area. :(
    I guess this is okay but not ideal. Anyone know why the request for focus isn't working in the start method?
    I did try the javascript but for some reason it didn't seem to make a difference? maybe i'm using it wrong:
    <HTML>
    <APPLET CODE="movinghello.class" WIDTH=750 HEIGHT=400/>
    <script language="JavaScript">
    <!--
    document.movinghello.requestFocusInWindow();
    //-->
    </script>
    </HTML>

  • User completes approval task but system is not marking it completed

    My SP designer workflow has intermittent issues completing the task after the users does their part.  We've taken one of the web servers out due to the thought that the sessions were getting split up (IIS logs showed this happening) between the
    two servers, but the issue resurfaced today.  This user completed one task no problem, but when he completed the next task shortly after the system didn't finish up the second task so it 'stalls' (that's what I call it).  The stalled task
    doesn't get completed so the workflow doesn't move on.  I'm out of ideas.
    I've searched but can't find any reference to this behavior with approval tasks.  It is pretty straightforward OOTB approval processing but has intermittent issues.
    Anyone??
    thanks - Carlene

    Hi Victoria,
    Thank you for your reply.  Here are the responses to your questions:
    No, there are no errors in the workflow when the task is not completed.  I've turned on versioning in the task list and versioning shows the user modifying the task but the 3rd step of the system marking the task complete isn't occurring.
    No, the issue occurs intermittently which has made it almost impossible to figure out the cause.
    Creating a new approval workflow with the exact steps is really labor intensive unless we copy and modify it.  This has not been done.
    We've been looking at the ULS logs and the Workflow trace logging and what we recently discovered is an Access Denied error which has been narrowed down to a possible expired User-token and look-up to another domain by the initiator's ID.  All of our
    users are in domains other than the domain the SharePoint servers are in but there are two way trusts established.  We have since moved the approval processing step into an Impersonation step in the workflow which runs under the system account.
    We are now watching and waiting to see if this will help.
    Another thing to note is all our users are granted access to SharePoint through AD groups which are then added to SharePoint groups.
    We are working with Microsoft on this and hopefully we can get it resolved. When we do I will post the outcome, in the meantime I welcome any other suggestions.
    Thanks - Carlene

  • EXIT BUTTON - PAGE NOT FOUND issue for Address

    After customization of home page, we are getting page not found error for the Exit button in Address and in some other applications, it is opening a new window and in some other applications, the screen is getting struck and the backend user id is getting locked.
    Could some one suggest me ? I feel we make the exit button invisible so that end user will not click on that totally. Is this a good idea?

    You can of course hide the exit buttin via personalisation
    read the sap note 951257 for the issue you are having
    The solution is to go and make the necessary  entries.
           -   Go to  V_T7XSSSERARBC view.
           -   Select the Area for which the exit button is not working.
           -   Enter 'Area Link Type' if not entered already.
           -   Enter 'Link Resource' if not entered already.
           -   Save the changes made.
    With regard to the WorkProtect Mode, Ifollow the note #734861 -
    "WorkProtect Mode - Global Settings".
    also check the steps here
    While creating an iView instance there are two option
    -paste
    -paste as delta link
    You should choose paste as delta link option.

    We checked the attachments, it seems that when you run the application
    from preview mode you will not see 'exit' button. If you run the
    application directly you will not see 'exit'button.
    'Exit' button feature comes into picture when you consider that
    application should use home page customizing feature.

  • Front Row not marking video as watched properly

    I kept hoping that this issue would be resolved with one of the point releases, but here we are at 10.6.3 and it's still the same for me, so here's the problem.
    Before installing 10.6 I was running 10.5.8 and when using Front Row to watch a video (say a TV show I downloaded on iTunes) I'd watch it all the way to the end and the status circle next to it would show that it's been watched. iTunes would report the same status.
    Since installing 10.6 when I watch a video in Front Row all the way, the status shows up as if it's only partially watched instead of completely watched. I'm sure the video was over since I let it play all the way through until it comes back to Front Row.
    This is very annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there some way to fix it? If not, I hope Apple can address this in 10.6.4.

    Bump.
    I have tried multiple solutions and non have solved this issue. I am rather disappointed that watching content on my AppleTV or via FrontRow does not mark the show as "watched" in iTunes. FrontRow will mark it part watched and AppleTV does not effect the watched status flag at all.
    I do believe this is an iTunes 10 issue though as I only saw it after upgrading to iTunes 10.
    Can anyone point me to a solution?

  • Exit button not working Captivate 7 output to HTML5 and SWF

    I have several courses developed in Cp 6.5 that do not have this issue and are currently running on Taleo LMS.
    I've built a test course with 6 (mostly blank) slides, including two quiz questions. On the final slide I have placed a Finish Course button with On Success: Exit action. The project end options are set to close project and I've included an On Exit: Exit action on the final slide. The Finish Course button successfully closes the browser window in Preview in Browser (IE9) and Preview HTML5 output modes.
    I then published the course to both HTML5 and SWF output formats with scalable HTML selected. Once I uploaded the course to the LMS and tested it, the Finish Course button does not close the browser window. I've tested in IE9, Firefox, and iPad, and it doesn't work on any of these. I've also tried including the built in exit button on the playbar, and it doesn't close the window either. At the final slide, after clicking the Finish Course button, the slide fades to white and then stops.
    The LMS reports that the course is complete; I thought maybe it was an issue with the settings in the LMS course, however I have several other courses that were developed in Cp 6.5, published to the same LMS with the same "Exit" button on the final slide, and I have mirrored every course setting that has worked in the past.
    Any suggestions as to what could be keeping the window from closing?
    Thanks,
    PV

    Why does there need to be a button used now when in CP 6 and 6.5 it worked seamlessly? Will this be fixed by Adobe and when?

  • Captivate 4 SCORM not working, Exit Button Not working

    Hi All-
    I hope somebody can help me out because I am at the end of my rope with Captivate.
    I have a project that is in the final stages, I'm attempting to publish it to our LMS and it is not tracking properly, it is initializing the LMS and it is recording a "Started" status, but I can not get the completion status to work properly.
    I really don't want to include a quiz at the end so these are the settings I have used:
    LMS Standard: SCORM 1.2
    Report Status: Complete/Incomplete
    Report To LMS As: Percent
    Choose report Data: User Access Only
    Reporting Level: Interactions and Score
    I have tested every possible setting I can think of and the bloody thing will not work!
    Somebody please help me, because I do NOT want to have to start this over with Articulate!

    Hi Nathan
    In addition to the other advice, I believe that you need to have at least one scorable object in order for the reporting to work. For example, sometimes folks need a simple acknowlegement that the content has been viewed. I believe this is the case with SOX compliance. In cases like these, you insert a simple Button object the user clicks. Configure a quiz. You don't need actual question slides. You configure the button to report back the click.
    I didn't see anything about the Exit button, but the Exit button is unreliable at best. If you are clicking the Exit button and it's not working for you, take a look at the info below:

  • The "Exit" button is not working on my LMS

    The "Exit" button in Captivate doesn't work once the course is uploaded to my LMS (Meridian).  Any ideas what the problem might be?  All the other buttons in the course work as advertised once uploaded.
    Thanks.
    Jay

    You have identified the problem. If you have Warranty or AppleCare coverage, make Genius reservation and take or send to Apple for resolution. Troubleshoot. When iPhone 5 is open, the home button contacts are present right there. With volt meter placed on home flex you can see if pressing home button completes the circuit. You can bridge the dock home button contacts and see if it actually causes response in the iPhone. If not dock or its contacts are faulty or logic board is faulty.

  • Captivate Exit button not exiting

    I updated the SCORM.htm file to stop bookmarking, which is
    now working wonderfully (thanks to all who posted those
    solutions!). BUT, now the Exit button is no longer closing the
    course. I click the Exit button on the skin and it just sits there.
    Before updating the SCORM.htm file to stop bookmarking, the Exit
    button was working fine.
    I am using the Meridian LMS and Captivate 2. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance for your help,
    Brooke

    bschepker,
    You indicated that the lesson closes after several seconds.
    Have you checked the timeline on the last slide? Perhaps you have
    something continuing to run for several seconds, preventing the
    slide from ending and thus triggering the built-in window close
    functionality?
    I use a button to pause my last slide and am continually
    having to reset the timing of the rest of the objects to make sure
    the slide ends at 2.5 seconds (the button pauses the slide at 1.5
    seconds, so add 0.5 seconds for slide fade out + 0.5 seconds for "I
    like things to start and end on 0.5 second intervals").
    Also, it may be possible that the movie is waiting on a
    response from the LMS before closing the window. I don't claim to
    know how Captivate's SCORM implementation works, but if the
    behavior is consistent and it's not a timeline issue, that may be
    what's going on.
    If that's the case, then a suggestion would be to add a new
    slide at the end of your file that says something like "Submitting
    your results... please do not close this window or your completion
    information may be lost." This would at least keep the user from
    closing the window before the movie has a chance to do so on it's
    own.

  • Exit button is not popping Quit/cancel options in application (.exe)

    Hi,
    I have created a VI with Exit button using run time menu option
    When I run same VI and click on Exit button, it popups a message with Quit or cancel options
    Then I created .exe for the same VI and executed, when i click on exit button it is directly quitting labview with out any popup message
    Can some one help me in creating .exe with quit/cancel popup message
    Thanks in advance

    Oh, you are calling the LabVIEW IDE's Exit.  Do not do that.  With that you are aborting any running VIs (ie, not letting them stop on their own) and shutting down LabVIEW.
    I recommend you use an Event Structure to handle the pressing of the exit menu item and doing whatever you need to inside that event case.
