Video rendering extreemly slow or just halts

Being playing with video a bit since I bought a Sony RX100 III.  Other than the well known problem with Dolby audio I find that rendering of video clips in Photoshop CC is very hit or miss.  Sometimes the clip renders (very slowly if many adjustments have been made) or a rotating disc appears and nothing at all happens, task manager shows some activity but not nearly as mutch as when rendering is happening properly - the program seems to be in an infinite loop.  My Windows 8.1 machine is reasonably powerful, if I use DaVinci Resolve Lite (if you think Photoshop has a steep learning curve try Resolve!!!) then even with quite complex edits clips render at around real time (25fps).  Something is clearly wrong with the video rendering routine in Photoshop which is a pity as I only want to do the occasional bit of video editing and rendering and certainly don't want to pay for a dedicated video editing tool or invest hours of time learning Resolve (the Lite version is, amazingly, a free download).
Am I missing something?  Do others find Photoshop video rendering flakey?  Is there a work round for this problem?

I do not do video. However i did take a few clips with my Canon 1D Mark 4 it captures 1920x1080 frames and audio. The latgest clip I have is only like two minuets long.  Video captured is format .MOV and the files tend to be very large. 300MB+ per minute. So I thought let see what Photoshop CC 2014 does rendering it to mp4. Render seem to be threaded so the more processors  cores you have the better off your are.  I have two slow 2GH 6 core xeons in my work station soe 24 threads were used.  It took CC 2014 just under 3 minuets to rendet the video went from 733MB to 380MB around 1/2 size and bite rate the mp4 is.

  • Video .f4v very slow

    Hello:
    I'm having problems playing f4v video is very slow. The size is 100 MB and resolution 1280x720. When I play out of Flash it reproduces well.
    I need to play in Desktop application not over Internet.
    What I'm doing bad? Is there anywhere to play well or wich is the better option to do it?
    thank you very much.
    This is my code:
    import flash.net.NetConnection;
    import flash.net.NetStream;
    import flash.media.Video;
    import flash.events.AsyncErrorEvent;
    //fullscreen
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    var conexion:NetConnection= new NetConnection();
    conexion.connect(null);
    var display:NetStream = new NetStream(conexion);
    display.play("videos/ocioelecer.f4v");
    var video:Video = new Video(1280,720);
    video.attachNetStream(display);
    addChild(video);
    display.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, noshow);
    function noshow(event:AsyncErrorEvent):void{
      //no show error
    display.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, statusHandler);
    function statusHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void
        switch (event.info.code)
            case "NetStream.Play.Start":
                trace("Start [" + display.time.toFixed(3) + " seconds]");
                break;
            case "NetStream.Play.Stop":
            //End video
                            trace("Stop [" + display.time.toFixed(3) + " seconds]");
            (root.loaderInfo.loader.root as Object).removeSWF();
                break;

    100MB played locally is nothing. Most HDs have burst cache which can load up to 200MB instantly off disk. You shouldn't even need to (but might want to on a really 'value/green' rated drive) set the buffer to require 1 second of data before playing (bufferTime = 1).
    Are you using any kind of integrated graphics, like using a Z-esque Intel chipset with Intel 2000/3000/4000 graphics? Sometimes people over-estimate how well their built in hardware decoders perform.
    You always want to add Event listeners before you invoke a method that uses events. In your code you're adding listeners AFTER invoking a 'play(...)' method. Just for best practice, run the load(...) last.
    Lastly is the video available for inspection? 100MB for 10 seconds is 10MB/s, which is really only required in excessively high quality rendering with a huge gaumet with high motion. 9mbit is average full quality 720p (which is 1.25MB/s). You may have your bitrate set too high as moccamaximum mentioned if you are not in that video situation or striving for lossless video in ultra high motion.

  • Why does Premiere Pro CC 2014 renders incredibly slow?

    Dear Premiere Pro experts
    I created a movie with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 and I have serious performance issues when it comes to export the movie.
    The first 10% renders pretty fast and takes 1 hour. Then it takes for every additional 1% about 4 hours! (never rendered it to finish so far, 14% max so far)
    Here are some facts that might help to isolate the problem:
    Project:
    Length: 24 minutes in total, splitted into several sequences (up to 4 minutes) and arranged on a "main-sequence"
    Input: Cineform AVI files, 1080p, 59fps (I converted GoPro 3+ footage (3D!) using GoPro Studio to the Cineform format for further processing)
    Desired Output: Same as input, preserving 3D (Render 3D Intermediate)
    Effects used: Warp-Stabilizer (default settings) and Auto-Color (smoothing 1-2 sec) on almost every clip.
    Hardware / Software:
    i7-3770K @3.5 GHZ (Quadcore)
    16 GB RAM
    NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970 (also tried with a ATI Radeon R9 290X)
    Windows 8.1
    SSD for OS and programs, RAID 0 for media files and project, separate drive for rendering output.
    Then I tried to render using AME using the same settings. The whole video rendered in about 14 hours what is acceptable in my case. There problem here is that the 3D gets lost, even if I selected "Render 3D Intermediate". The picture for the left eye is the same as the one for the right eye. This is not happening when I do a direct export. But the direct export get almost stuck at around 10%.
    There is almost no difference in choosing Software-Rendering and GPU. Also, the GPU has almost no load. Premiere Pro uses the CPU for about 45% (total usage 65%) and takes up 5-9 GB of memory (total usage 65%). Disk usage at around 14b/s.
    I think there are two problems. One is that AME renders differently (no 3D) and the other is that the direct export takes way too long.
    Can someone help me with any of these problems?
    Thank you,
    Martin

    I did some additional research and found out, that the slow rendering happens with this combination:
    - Auto-Color using Temporal Smoothing
    - Render 3D Intermediate
    Without rendering the 3D intermediate, Temporal Smoothing is not a problem. And without temporal smoothing, Rendering 3D Intermediate is not a problem.
    Might this be a problem in the codec or in Premiere?

  • Photoshop CC Video Rendering

    Hi, does the Adobe media Encoder uses CUDA for video rendering? Problem is, when i render video in PS CC, it takes up to 20-30 minutes for a 30sec. clip, only work done was camera Raw filter. CPU ia at 88%, GPU 0% due rendering.

    As you see I have latest driver installed so I don't belive this is the problem - something just crashes in photoshop (after the latest update something just don't work anymore).
    Like sometimes i can make simpel GIF and sometimes I'm not abel to do same thing with same file cause save for web window play/stop buttons are disabled.
    I actually managed to to ger transparent cubes out of it (all 101 of them)- I added replaced illumination texture on each side matchin gwith the material texture,
    but now there is no shadows on it beacuse it's basically a light bulb. I belive I just have to doodle with it a bit more and maybe
    i manage to get it right (but save for WEB window play/stop buttons still don't work).
    I belive there is something to do with photoshop updatet cause i have done some stuff before and it worked well then:

  • Computer specs for nice 3D rendering/ after effects rendering and video rendering in general ?

    Hi there! I would like to know what the perfect specs for a laptop/workstation/computer are, so that I could do my creative work from home..my old laptop (Macbook Pro, 8Gb Ram, V 2010) is not good enough for 3D rendering, not even Video rendering or After Effects... I need to know what graphics card for eg or how much Ram or what I need to look for in a computer so that I won't get any error messages after rendering for half a day anymore...;) (--> very annoying) Money is not a first priority...i would first like to know, what the best option would be that one could have and then down size from there;)
    I would appreciate every help:) my laptop is dying...i need something new and better;)
    cheers stephs

    Regardless of workflow, you want a workstation, not a laptop. You will get much more bang for your buck.
    Also, as others have said, Windows machines tend to be better choices than Macs right now. And that's coming from two people who used to use/love Macs...
    In general, you want the fastest clock speed on your processor that you can afford. You want as many cores as you can get with that nice, high clock speed.
    Ideally, you want 4GB of RAM per core of your processor - MINIMUM 16 GB of RAM, (but get as much as you can afford).
    You want an SSD for your cache and a good-sized regular hard drive to hold footage, renders, etc.
    GPU matters for Premiere and any third-party plugins that use it (like Red Giant Universe, Element 3d, Mettle's ShapeShifter, etc.), but not for AE and not for Cinema 4D (which comes free with AE these days).
    Again, this is just some generalization. For more specific info, we'll need to know more about what you're doing.
    Also, you don't need to take our word for any of this; read what Adobe has to say on the matter: FAQ: What computer and components should I buy?

  • Video Rendering Question using Premiere Elements 11 and/or Adobe Premiere

    The video Rendering /encoding process can take hours even on an I5 processor.
    It seems like this has to be done, redone and done again during the editing process.
    If I purchase a camera which supports AVCHD 2.0 - does that mean that the encoding process altogether goes away, so that content is able to be transfered natively to the end media and so that I reduce my burn time to a BluRay Disc, using for example, Adobe Premiere Elements 11 or Full Fledged Adobe Premiere, or Sony's Vegas ?
    Newbie to Video Editing.

    AVCHD 2.0 only means that the camera can also record 1080p/60, which was previously not part of the AVCHD specification and still is not part of the Blu-ray spec.  It's most useful for smooth slow motion effects.
    Anything you add to Premiere Pro will need to be transcoded for Blu-ray, no way around that.

  • Premiere CS4 Rendering very slow

    recently premier started rendering very slow after making a change to an effect or adding something, etc..
    No hardware or software has been added or changed, have tried defragging, updating drivers, etc.  Is there some sort of cache or flush I don't know about that premiere uses?
    If anyone has any suggestions I am willing to try almost anything because hours of googling have not brought me any luck.

    Im having a problem with the dvd quality, I'm using compressor to convert the video fils from apple prores to mpeg2 .It doesn't matter how long my video is even if its just 5 minutes  I'm getting cut edges/lines  in the video specialy if i have titles it comes up really bad , I took the same video to a friend of mine who have PC and he uses Encore , did the encoding there and it was just fine no problems! BTW I tried using doferent setings in compressor from CBR and VBR I even pushed up the setings to 8 or 9 BR and still no luck !
    does anyone have any idea ?
    Thanks in advence ...

    Let's focus attention on just the Sony. (What model and what resolution are you shooting?)
    For now, I'll assume you're shooting 1080i.
    Take a representaive clip  into a new sequence. Add a title.
    In your sequence, make sure field dominance is set to Upper.
    Set render settings to Pro Res 422.
    After rendering, export QT self contained.
    Import into Compressor (I'm now referring to v3.5).
    Select the 90 minute Best quality DVD preset.
    Open frame controls and turn on (click the gear icon). Set Resize filter to Best.
    Submit burn and check quality on TV.
    Good luck.

  • Reduced video quality when slowed down

    Is it normal for the video quality of slowed down footage to be less than the original file.
    I think the orignal copied file format was MOV (JVC Camcorder seems to generate .MOV and .MOI files) which imports to iMovie09 fine and good quality.
    When I move a clip into the Project Viewer and then want to change the speed of the clip, iMovie converts the clip (not sure what format it converts into). When I slow the clip down (to 25%) the quality is reduced.
    Is this something I'm doing wrong or is it the original file type? Also, will my original clip be permanently converted into this other form or will it still be intact (therefore just what is in the Project Viewer is the converted format)?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    bad news..
    could be, that adding effect (=any) drops quality by halve..
    often discussed here:
    when source is DV, iM09 processes interlaced video only single-field.
    I have no source files of SD from non-tape-based devices.. perhaps here, the same quality-drop happens..
    if you don't mind, would you like to send me a PM? mail adress down below in green..- you can participate in some.. 'tests'.. no, you don't get hurt, just your camera.. kiddin'!!
    there's a simple workaround to avoid this, and there's a free 3rd party tool which - maybe - offers a much better slowmo than iMovie..

  • Error -49 video rendering, compression and export

    I am having trouble compressing files from iMovie, When I try and "finalize" the video I get an error message. When I compress the video using quicktime H.264 and ACC the issues may be with rendering (?) I have managed to save a .mov file to my desktop but this goes juddery and the sound doesn't work when burnt onto a disc. Disc works fine when saving  as video but not when saving as a data (.mov) file.
    I have tried using internal burner software and also using toast (version 8) neither will produce good data files on the burnt disc.
    Any help?

    Im having error -49 (I have the time machine off, it has been like that all the time) and -108, but the one that appears more is -108, I've seem that is because of the space, but I have enough space base on the information of my MacAir.
    Im very new with this but I'm so frustrated with all these issues, cannot export a video of 16min and is just 69.9MB.
    Is there a way to know specific where are the problems in the video?
    I will appreciate all your help!!

  • Slow mo video stopped being slow mo...why???

    I had a great slow mo video on my phone but all of a sudden it stopped being slow mo...i did not even try to import or export it just stopped working. How do I fix it?

    I figured it out. Only you need another Apple product, like iPad, so you import thru AirDrop video to iPad, and then just import it to PC, connected thru wire.
    Thats it.
    Works from iPhone 5s to iPad mini retina

    i have two iphone 4s, and everytime i try to upload my videos, sound is ahead of the video and video is in slow motion??? my pc is not hd and that may have something to do with it, just looking for answers!!! I have a desktop that i am looking to have upgraded with better stuff, just curious what i need if that is the problem.

    Yvonne-
    I haven't tried videos on my camera yet.  Do you use the Videos App to play them?  I don't think they will play in the Photos App.
    If yours are in a format that is not in Vazandrew's list, you may need to sync them to your computer and convert them to M4V or MP4 format.  You can use a program like HandBrake to do the conversion.  <HandBrake>  Once converted, you can sync them back to the iPad and they should play.
    This may not meet your needs, but the alternative appears to be getting a different camera.  I don't know of another Video App that might work.

  • FCP X 10.1 Rendering very slow

    Tried using the Neat Video plugin on 2 clips I have in a projects and it's been rendering for HOURS! Just realized that 10.1 is saving "backups" to my hard drive and not my external HD. How can I get these "projects/events to update and backup on my external? When I tried dragging the folders to my external drive it just made copies. Where do I set the preferences so that EVERYTHING goes to my external HD only?  Will this speed up the rendering time? It was rendering at lightening speed the first day I upgraded to 10.1 hasn't done it since .

    To ALL --
    I too had the exact same problems. I had one Library opened, one event and one project containing a single 640x480 clip (transcoded/optimized in a 1080 project) and a Motion background generator. The timeline had trouble playing in real time and trying to render the timeline would take quite a long time utilizing 1 to 1 1/2 cores at a time (out of 8 "virtual" cores - 09 i7 iMac). Exporting would cause FCPX to re-render *everything* as if it weren't already rendered.
    Solution:
    Completely delete all traces of FCPX starting with this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5149
    go to the section labelled:
    Removing Final Cut Pro X in OS X 10.9 Mavericks
    Use http://digitalrebellion.com/prefman and use it to trash all other pref files.
    Delete FCPX from the applications folder.
    Empty the trash.
    Go back to the App Store and do a complete "fresh" install.
    After I did all this, FCPX 10.1.1 seems to be running quite well.
    I have no idea why problems like this arise (probably file permissions—repairing permissions seems to be a good idea before upgrading). It's ridiculous that a update should cause such trouble, however installing the app as "new" has always worked (so far... knock on wood...)
    YMMV

  • Video sharing extremely slow over network

    Hi Everyone, I've had a quick search through the forums to try and see if anyone has been having the same problems with me when trying to share videos (music videos, tv shows, movies etc) over a network. In itunes 7.5 I used to have no problems sharing my music or videos, now it seems like the videos are extremely slow to stream or simply won't stream at all The library shows up and music streams perfectly, but videos just seem to take forever to load, if they even load at all! As you can imagine this is a little annoying, especially if I want to sit in my theatre room with my mac mini and watch a movie streamed from my macbook pro. I've tried changing the network on my mac mini from its usual cabled network connection to using the airport, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
    Has anyone else suffered with similar issues, and if so, is there any way to resolve them?
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards,
    Oliver

    You already made that point. The issue is that is not helpful if you want to use Front Row and/or a Mac as a media centre. Your workaround is fine but it is klunky. The one suggested of downgrading to QT 7.3.1 is elegant but very slow as unless you can get Pacifist to work (which I could not) it means an archive and reinstall of Leopard, and downloading all the patches again with the crucial exception of QuickTime. The good news is that Leopard does this much, much better than any previous Mac OS X and all your settings and even third party preferences should work fine. The 7.3.1 installer is still available online of you Google "QuickTime 7.3.1 Leopard". This will work perfectly unless you are renting movies.
    So, the choice is klunky, or an hour or so of re-installing.

  • DX11 Video Renderer sample code is incomplete.

    Your ref : http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsdesktop/DirectX-11-Video-Renderer-0e749100
    Dear Sirs,
        So ... that project creates a DLL, which isn't a standard EVR so I have no clue how to fire it up.
    Feeback states that the only way to test it is to use a closed source version of topedit in the Windows 8 SDK.
    That isn't very helpful as that doesn't demonstrate how to use the thing.
    Please provide sample code - the simpler the better that demonstrates how to use this DirectX11 Video Renderer or a derivative to throw a video texture on some simple geometry on the screen.
    As a follow up, please demonstrate multiple video textures playing simultaneously to demonstrate the API supports this feature. If it doesn't, please add this support :)
    Sorry to give you a hard time but I need a solid video API and if Windows doesn't provide one, it's time to look to other operating systems for a robust solution.
    Regards,
    Steve.

    Media Foundation in Windows 8 added the
    IMFMediaEngine interface, which can be used to very easily set up media playback without dealing with media sessions, media sources, etc. The best part is that this interface lets you set it up as a D3D11 frame server and you can just pull frames from it.
    There is a
    sample that shows how to do this. There is no D3D11 support in Media Foundation before Win8, which is also when this API was introduced. It was said above, but before Win8 you need to continue to transfer textures between D3D9 and D3D11.
    Although it's probably not the method you want to use, since you asked, I'll add some info about the sample. The DX11 video renderer sample shows how to create a video renderer that is compatible with D3D11 hardware acceleration, but it's limited to the
    most fundamental property of a video renderer: presenting a video to a window. The sample's presenter implements IMFVideoDisplayControl just like the EVR does, so you can call IMFVideoDisplayControl::SetVideoWindow in the same way to send output to a given
    HWND. You can see in Presenter.h that it actually only implements SetVideoWindow and Get/SetFullscreen for this interface; the full EVR implements the entire interface.
    If you wanted to modify the sample for presenting into a larger D3D scene, you would need to change the logic a bit so that the presenter would give out textures or something instead of presenting to a swap-chain. This would roughly need to happen where
    the current implementation calls CPresenter::PresentFrame. Again, I think IMFMediaEngine is much simpler for your purposes, but it's certainly possible to adapt the sample if you really need the extra flexibility.
