Video set to autoplay causes hit counter to double count

on my website i have a video set to play immediately (set to autostart). but for some reason, when viewing in FF, this makes my .php hit counter increment by 2 (or sometimes even 4).
on other pages that have videos that are played manually, the hit counter works fine. but if i add autoplay video, the counter goofs up.
chrome doesn't have this problem on any pages, nor does IE.
i have reset FF to factory. v13.0.1

i have read your suggestion several times, and i can't say that i completely understand it.
"specifying your character encoding in an HTTP header sent before Firefox actually starts parsing the document. This has been reported as an issue in some shopping cart applications: failure to do this can cause Firefox to re-request (re-submit a request) when it comes to the meta tag specifying the character set. "
i can't tell from these words whether it should be done or not (this has been reported as an issue & failure to do so ...).
this is what is currently at the top of my page :
&lt!DOCTYPE html&gt<br/>
&lthtml lang="en"&gt<br/>
&lthead&gt<br/>
<meta charset="UTF-8"><br/>
<title>DRAGON ART STORE - Home Page</title>
<br/>
if i understand you correctly, it would be better like this :
&lt!DOCTYPE html&gt<br/>
&lthtml lang="en"&gt<br/>
&lt?php<br/>
header('Content-type: text/html; charset=utf-8');<br/>
?&gt<br/>
<head><br/>
<title>DRAGON ART STORE - Home Page</title>
is that what you had in mind ?

  • Youtube embedded videos are not autoplayed

    Hi
I have put a youtube video embed source in my web page with &autoplay=1 in the embed url . Still the video is not autoplayed.
Did i miss anything to make it autoplay.

Videos don't auto play on the iPad. I've made a few tests to check this out. I made a web page with the standard embed coding (JavaScript) with auto play set to true. The video didn't auto play, I made another video using HTML 5, set to auto play, that didn't auto play too HTML 5 is still in the development stage so some things are not going to work. As for YouTube and a standard embed code not working... Safari on the iPad must be a little flaking when determining the different between HTML 5 and standard embed coding for video. Safari 5 on a desktop works.....

  • MARS Query 'Hit-Count' versus 'Total-Count'

Hi, I have a question about MARS queries: I run queries using 'custom columns' and I continually hit over 5000 entries. I was wondering if there is a way to show the following:
    Custom Colums:
    - event type set
    - source IP address
    - destination IP address, port, and protocol
    - <NEW FIELD> 'Hit-count'
The reason I posit the 'Hit-count' field is that this would help me see everything that happened on the first three columns and not limit me when MARS says 'only the first 5000 entries will be displayed'.
If there is any way to count the number of times it happened in a hit-count field, versus counting the number of times it happened and then limiting the displayed results, I would think that would be tremendously useful.
Please let me know if there is already a way to do this, or if there are any plans to add this! Thanks!

Don't know about queries, but you define 'Count' in MARS rules, so you could clone the built-in rule and perhaps modify the count value to suit your needs. I know this is not exactly what you are looking for but it might get you going in the right direction. You also have the following variables to play with to further suit your needs:
ANY-(Default). Signifies that the IP address for each count is any IP address.
SAME-Signifies that the IP address for each count is the same IP address. This variable is local to its offset.
DISTINCT- Signifies that the IP address for each count is a unique IP address. This variable is local to its offset.
$Target01 to $Target20-The same variable in another field or offset signifies that the IP address for each count is the same IP address.
    Have a look at:
    http://ciscosystems.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/vpn/ciscosec/mars/5_3/uglc/rules.htm#wp1054961
Also on strange idea, but it might work, in the "Maximum Number of Rows Returned" why don't you try and put 1000, does the MARS accept that? I seriously doubt it would work, but worth a try. I think they used to have an even lower limit in older version (1000).

  • IE tries to load all movies if set to 'autoplay'

I have created modules with many video clips included. These are all set to autoplay when the user gets to the slide. This works fine in Safari, Chrome and FF. However in IE 7 and 8 the browser tries to load ALL the movies when the swf first loads leading to crash/hang.
If I turn off autoplay it behaves - but I would rather the videos autoplay when the user gets to a page.
    Any ideas!

    Hi Vish
I have tested on IE7 under XP and IE8 under Vista
In both cases it seems that IE (only) tries to load the movies in the module
multiple times. I have used an Http analyser to log calls to the server and
with IE see multiple loads of the same movie before the module has started
    like below:
    18     False     + 5.344           True     145.610 s     GET     200
    22.37 M     (None)
    http://learning.pukkafilms.com/file.php/2/moddata/scorm/13/mod1.flv
    19     False     + 11.578           True     139.345 s     GET
    200     22.52 M     video/x-flv
    http://learning.pukkafilms.com/file.php/2/moddata/scorm/13/mod1.flv
I have tried turning off autoplay on the movies, and tried turning off the
'prloader' option when publishing and tried turning off the autoplay when
publishing but IE seems to still try and download any movies linked in the
    module.
If you want to try on windows 7 you can access the course at
learning.pukkafilms.com and use the enrolement key 'trial'
Of course it may be a moodle thing!
    Nick
I have now run quite a few tests... each module I have contains around 5 movies. If I split the module into 5 sub modules and link from module to module, only the first movie loads in IE and they all play OK. But this is a bore as new SWFs have to load every 3 or 4 pages. However it is a workaround!
I am still interested in why IE tries to preload all the movies linked to from a single Captivate SWF. I have updated to latest players and am using the 'patched' captivate 5 to recover from last flash player update.
The problem is not evident when playing locally - but I suspect the overhead on IE is smaller.

  • Slideshow set to autoplay does not work after loading a pdf file

    Hi,
While developing our app we encountered a problem whereby on an article page, we added in a slideshow function set to autoplay to show various images and also we created a button linking to a PDF file which we added into the app to allow users to get more information about the slideshow images.
We noticed that while the slideshow is being played and when we launched the pdf file and closing it again, the slideshow stops playing. It doesn't reset itself either. The slideshow just stops at the image on when we launch the pdf.
    Any solutions?
    Regards

That's how they work. Slideshows pause when you open up an in-app browser window. There's no setting to change/configure this behaviour.

  • Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than [100] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry(a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).

    Hi,
Our Environment is Essbase 11.1.2.2 and working on Essbase EAS and Shared Services components. One of our user tried to run the Cal Script of one Application and faced this error.
Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than [100] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry(a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).
I have done some Google and found that we need to add something in Essbase.cfg file like below.
1012704 Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than number ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry (a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).
    Possible Problems
Analytic Services could not lock enough blocks to perform the calculation.
    Possible Solutions
Increase the number of blocks that Analytic Services can allocate for a calculation:
Set the maximum number of blocks that Analytic Services can allocate to at least 500.
If you do not have an $ARBORPATH/bin/essbase.cfg file on the server computer, create one using a text editor.
In the essbase.cfg file on the server computer, set CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH to 500.
    Stop and restart Analytic Server.
Add the SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH command to the beginning of the calculation script.
Set the data cache large enough to hold all the blocks specified in the CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH setting.
    Determine the block size.
    Set the data catche size.
Actually in our Server Config file(essbase.cfg) we dont have below data  added.
    CalcLockBlockHigh 2000
    CalcLockBlockDefault 200
    CalcLockBlocklow 50
So my doubt is if we edit the Essbase.cfg file and add the above settings and restart the services will it work?  and if so why should we change the Server config file if the problem is with one application Cal Script. Please guide me how to proceed.
    Regards,
    Naveen

Your calculation needs to hold more blocks in memory than your current set up allows.
From the docs (quoting so I don't have to write it, not to be a smarta***:
CALCLOCKBLOCK specifies the number of blocks that can be fixed at each level of the SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH | DEFAULT | LOW calculation script command.
When a block is calculated, Essbase fixes (gets addressability to) the block along with the blocks containing its children. Essbase calculates the block and then releases it along with the blocks containing its children. By default, Essbase allows up to 100 blocks to be fixed concurrently when calculating a block. This is sufficient for most database calculations. However, you may want to set a number higher than 100 if you are consolidating very large numbers of children in a formula calculation. This ensures that Essbase can fix all the required blocks when calculating a data block and that performance will not be impaired.
    Example
If the essbase.cfg file contains the following settings:
    CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH 500  CALCLOCKBLOCKDEFAULT 200  CALCLOCKBLOCKLOW 50
then you can use the following SET LOCKBLOCK setting commands in a calculation script:
    SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH;
means that Essbase can fix up to 500 data blocks when calculating one block.
Support doc is saying to change your config file so those settings can be made available for any calc script to use.
On a side note, if this was working previously and now isn't then it is worth investigating if this is simply due to standard growth or a recent change that has made an unexpected significant impact.

  • Why is the iPod Touch (4th Gen) missing the video setting for TV Out?

Has anyone else noticed that in the iPod Touch (4th Gen) that there isn't a video setting for TV Out? It's not on the new iPhone either. I wanted to attach an AV Composite cord from my iPod to my TV. It won't work because of the missing video setting. You would think that since this is new technology, it would have that setting. After all, my iPod from 2005 has that feature and works just fine with the $39 AV Compostie cable from Apple. I was hoping to display what I have on my iPod Touch to my TV, but discovered that I couldn't. When I called Apple, they thought at first I had a defective cable. But later told me that i OS 5 left out the video out feature as if by mistake. Could anyone elaborate on this issue? I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

I am well aware that setting was on the iPod before iOS 5! My question is why is it missing? Because right now, Apple is selling the AV Composite cable claiming it's compatible with the iPod Touch (4th Gen) and it's not. Thank you!

  • What video setting should I use?

I'm converting videos using Aieesoft, and am wondering what video setting is the best to use for playing on an ipad 4?  I don't want the files to be huge.  If I can I'd like to keep them under 1 gig each.

First, decde how you are going to deliver this production to your client. Then tell us what that delivery medium will be. Then we'll have some advice for you.
See the section in the FCP manual on using still images. You need to understand that in video there are only pixels, no dots per inch or lines per inch. Those terms are meaningless in video. You wil sand at a size in raw pixels that is only slightly larger than your delivery format.

  • How to dynamically set Min count and Max Count values in Adobe Print Form?

How to set the Min Count and Max Count values dynamically in a Print Form?
The values when set should over ride the values set in Binding Tab.
This is all needed to print multiple Material Number labels on a single page - and the number of labels to be printed needs to be under user control - something like an Avery Address labels
    Please advise.
    Thanks,

Here is a work around that works for me and may not be an intelligent solution .
I kept the Min Count to 1 on the subform binding properties.
Per the number of labels required, I appended the same item to the internal table so many times and passed it to the label.
it works fine for my requirement.
However - leaving out the post for a while to see if this can be done at the form level via scripting.
    Thanks,

    Try this:
Go to System Preferences - Bluetooth. Delete the keyboard from the list of devices by pressing the "-" button. Take the batteries out of the keyboard and reinsert them. In Bluetooth Preferences press the '+" button to add the new device. If the keyboard begins to pair, click the word "pair" and type in the passcode. Press return. The keyboard is now paired.
If the mouse is not pairing, try this: shut down the computer completely, unplug any USB mice, then turn off the power to the bluetooth mouse.  ONce the computer starts up again, wait for the pop-up looking for a mouse.  Turn on the power to the bluetooth mouse.  It should work normally now.

How to set Tile count column or count row? If not can do, How

    Thx for all idea.

The Tile container's number of columns and rows is calculated
based on each child's width and height (or based on tileWidth and
tileHeight which you can set). If you need more control over the
    layout, use Grid.

Thanks for the help, however the issue was due to the language difference in the systemobject. I could only translate the text of the object because it was maintained in a different language.

  • Media Encoder (AMC) F4V - none of the video setting effect file size????

When I used to use sorenson squeeze, mov  i could get a web flick down to 15 MB by reducing frame rate or size.
when using AMC - F4V - no matter what size or settings the same movie satays at about 34MB (with olny slight varistions if i tweek audio)
How do i get the file size smaller if none of the video setting effect file size????

In the limited amount of comparison testing I've done, I've found that 2-pass VBR files are consistently smaller than CBR files, all other things being equal. They're not always a great deal smaller, but they've never exceeded the size of the CBR files, and this goes for any type of encoding I've done, whether it's MPEG-2 for a DVD, or a web format like WMV, FLV (VP6), or H.264. This seems to be true even when the target and the maximum bitrate for the 2-pass VBR files match the bitrate "quantity" of the target bitrate of the 1-pass CBR files, and I've noticed this in any encoding application I use, whether it's AME, Sorenson Squeeze, or TMPGEnc Xpress. When analyzing my VBR-encoded files using an application such as MediaInfo, the average bitrate that is reported is never even close to my max bitrate, and is usually well under my target bitrate.
I see two reasons for this:
If you're encoding with CBR and set your bitrate at 1000kbps, for instance, the encoder will simply allocate 1000kbps of bandwidth (divided by the frame rate) to each and every frame of video, regardless of how complex or simple each frame is. Each frame will be compressed to as near 1000kbps (divided by the framerate) as possible. Using CBR, you can more or less estimate the end file size by multiplying the bitrate by the duration in seconds. Think of it as filling a series of water glasses: with CBR, you fill each glass full, regardless of how much each individual actually wants to drink.
If you're encoding with 2-pass VBR and set your maximum bitrate to 1000kbps and (for argument's sake) your target bitrate to 1000kbps as well, the encoder will use the first pass to figure out how much available bandwidth is needed at each individual point of time, and that writes that to a log file that the second pass of the encoder then uses to properly allocate those available bits to the frames that need them the most. If a particular passage of the video can be encoded at a lower bitrate, and still maintain a prescribed level of visual quality, the encoder will simply put the squeeze on a little more. Back to our water glass analogy from above, this is the equivalent of filling each water glass with only as much water as each individual wants.
For example, using the max/target bitrate set above, a low-motion/low-complexity passage of video may be able to be encoded at only 500kbps and yet maintain the visual quality of 1000kbps. This results in a fewer bytes needed to encode that particular duration of the video, and usually there are multiple sections in a video that can be treated as such. This has a cumulative effect and subsequently results in a final encoded video that has a smaller file size than it would had it be encoded at the same bitrate, but with CBR encoding.
I'm not a software engineer or mathemagician, so I can't back all this up with empirical evidence, but in real-world practice, these have been my observations. Long story short: I always use 2-pass VBR for web-distributed encodes, and enjoy both smaller and better-looking files, at the expense of a coffee break.
