Video Stutters & songs skip

My ipod will stall playing music videos and skip to next song at random points in songs. I tried to restore but that doesnt help. Also, sometimes i get a wierd chip while playing music.
Anyone else having issues like this or a solution?

I believe I found the problem: very long audio files from books on cds
I restored ipod again, and only put one music video on the ipod. The playback was great. So I made sure not to add those long audio files and playback is good as well, no more skipping in middle of tracks.
Hopefully, this will help someone if they encounter a similar situation.

  • When I play a movie through iTunes, audio has no issues but video stutters and skips

    Hey everyone,
    I have a Dell 17R, Windows 8 64 bit, intel i7-3630QM at 2.4 GHZ, 8gb ram, Nvidia GT-650M at 1920x1080 using driver 320.49
When I play a movie in iTunes, the audio works flawlessly but the video will be smooth for a few seconds, stutter and then skip small 2-3 second spots. I haven't noticed that the parts skipped are any more graphically intense than other spots and there is no discernable pattern.
In the past, I have been able to play movies through iTunes with absolutely no problem but when I downloaded this most recent one a few days ago all of my movies have been experiencing the same issue.
When I stream other videos from other sources I do not experience the same problems as I do when I use iTunes. Streaming 1080P over youtube or a similar services is no issue.
I have updated my video drivers to the latest version as well.
I am at a loss, any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Video before Menu skips

    Hey guys,
I'm trying to finish a DVD in Studio Pro 3. I've more or less got the hang of the program.
When the DVD starts, I want to have a quick 5 second graphic of my company logo fade in and fade out, then go to the menu. Easy enough.
But, for some reason, the intro video stutters and skips a few times. I've tried re-exporting the clip from FCP and have made an entirely new clip in FCP and exported it, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. The video clip has a jerky motion to it no matter what. I've tried everything I can think of to overt this but nothing seems to do the trick. Has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks,
    pat

    Patrick
FCP will not set the Max Rate, what you should do is export the movie as self contained and then use Compressor (sending it from FCP to Compressor is another option, but self contained seems to work better andd quicker.)
The 2 hour version may (not sure if it does, do not have settings) drop the Max Rate but it would drop thee average rate.
What you should do is check the settings by double clicking the preset in the preset window.
What you can do is also "make your own".
Take a look at this movie here
    http://www.dvdstepbystep.com/qc.php
to see how you can make your own settings - note the AC3 settings in particular for items that you should check/uncheck.
The m2v section (which is actually first) just shows how the controls work in general and do not mean they have to be your actual settings.

If you can view a ProRes 4-2-2 video at all, then you either have the independent ProRes422 Playback component installed or the FCP "Pro" video components installed.

Check your "~/Library/QuickTime" folder for your various "Pro" components. If in doubt that you have them all, re-run the FCP installer and it should add any missing components, apps, or utilities.

  • ONline Video Stutters/Skips [other programs affected]

HI. ive been having this problem for quite some time now; everytime i watch videos online, the video stutters and or skips. i tried everything, fixed my internet connection, wait for the video to load completely, but the problem is still there. these past few days when it starts stuttering/skipping my other programs do the same thing too.
like for example if i was on itunes i cant access it since the cursor wont even move, and if im on imovie playing a video or something, it stutters as well. i have a feeling it's not just about my safari, it's about my mac in general [i hope not]
ive updated all my flash, safari, EVERYTHING. still the prob persists. i cant watch vids online at all!
    pleasseee helllppp meee!!!!
[ps: i sing on youtube, and i use youtube instrumentals as music, and i cant really do that with stutering audio in the background.LOL. just sharin' how important this is to me! hahah]

You don't really give us enough to go on, so I'm not going to swear to this, but sometimes you see this kind of thing with a dying hard-drive, or filesystem corruption. Make a backup of any important data NOW to be on the safe side.

  • Songs skip on burned CD's

My first song alway plays clearly. The remaining songs skip constantly making them unlistenable

I have the same issue of iTunes-source songs skipping on CDs played in CD players rather than on DVD/CD players. I'm going to give this Discussions route a fair shot before I file a complaint with American Express so I can get my money back. (This and a couple of other threads establish that this is a common problem that has been brought to Apple's attention. I've also called Apple and e-mailed them, both to no avail.) Here's (1) a description of my problem and (2) the technical data I've seen requested from others:
    (1) Problem Description: I have a CD/DVD burner on my Dell computer. I purchased $59.04 in tunes from iTunes and burned some of them to 2 CDs. When I try to play the CDs in some CD players, tracks 1 and 2 of both disks play OK, but beyond that, the songs begin skipping. By the time you hit track 5, the skipping is so bad that there is no playback at all. However, these 2 CDs will play perfectly on players that are also DVD players. The problem is with playback on mere CD players. Thus, neither will play back in car CD players, which is a problem since I purchased most of these songs for the purpose of making CDs and giving them as Christmas gifts. (Needless to say, the gifts were a bit of an embarrassment, a dud.) Following some suggestions on the Apple site, I updated my version of iTunes. I also tested my burner by burning a copy of a commercial CD that I bought from a music store down the street. To do this, I used some Windows software. I can play this "test CD" on any player, even in a car CD player. Thus, my burner is not restricting me to playing burned CDs only on DVD/CD players. The limitation seems to be coming from the iTunes software. Does anyone have any idea why I can't play the 2 iTunes-source CDs on a car (i.e., non-DVD) CD player? Are there some iTunes software settings in the burning process that I need to change?

  • Stuttering Songs in iTunes

I have seen a few posts on this subject in the discussions, but no one really had a resolution for it. So, I thought I would try to share my problem, and see if anyone has some resolutions for it:
I just purchased a 24" iMac, 2.8ghz intel, 2 gig ram. It's literally brand new as of Thursday.I have a relatively small iTunes library compared to a few people on here: 16 gigs. I am running iTunes 7.6.2, Quicktime 7.4.5 and Leopard 10.5.2. I use UBS-based Soundsticks that are now about 4 years old (the first version).
So, that's my mac, here's my problem. I get randomly stuttering songs when I listen to music in iTunes. It's like you're streaming something off of the Internet and the music reaches the end of its buffer. It happens randomly. It can be every 20 seconds, or couple minutes, or right now - more than 10.
But it happens regularly, and enough where I am getting annoyed.
I was asked by Apple Tech Support to run one random song on loop in quicktime, which is going on right now, to gauge what is happening. So far, it's skipped a few times just in quicktime (iTunes is not open).
I'm at a loss. The computer doesn't have performance issues (obviously). More importantly, my now-dead iBook always played music without skipping.
What's been the general consensus of what to do? I am thinking of trying to play music without the soundsticks next to check if that's a problem.
Anyways, your thoughts on this subject would be great. There seems to be a lot of people with this problem.

And is your PC an Hp- particularly a Pavilion laptop- as this was the major trouble when 8.x came out. I'm getting hiccups again now too. I'm not as keen as you on enabling /disabling things... last time I think I changed back to an older version, but can't now remember how I did that. It's a shame when the music is the thing that goes wrong.

  • Video stutters when setting range in and out points within browser

While playing back video and using the "I" and "O" keys to set range in and out points, the video stutters every time I press either key.
Footage is Apple ProRes 422 1080p23.98 and 720p59.94 (problem is more noticeable with 59.94 footage). Playback quality is set to "Better Performance"
    FCPX 10.1.3
    OSX 10.9.5
    Mac Pro (Late 2013)
    3 GHz 8-Core
    32GB RAM
    Dual AMD FirePro D700
Project stored on 7200rpm eSata drive via GbE

Yes that's exactly right. As I'm going through selecting ranges to mark with a keyword tag, the video pauses for a split second (and skips a few frames) every time I use the "I" or "O" keys. As I tend to tag multiple sections within each clip I like to mark my ranges and tag them on the fly while the clip is still playing.

  • Video Stutters

I have a Quicktime movie in my Keynote presentation. When I play the presentation, the video stutters. When I play the same movie outside of Keynote all is fine. Would anyone have any suggestions? Currently running on 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with 2 GB RAM.

I believe I found the problem: very long audio files from books on cds
I restored ipod again, and only put one music video on the ipod. The playback was great. So I made sure not to add those long audio files and playback is good as well, no more skipping in middle of tracks.

  • Songs skipping on itunes

I've just purchased an ASUS X553M and they didn't skip at first, and now every song skips.
I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled, I've restarted my computer, I've checked I've got the latest updated version.
I've searched for this problem and gone to Task Manager, changed the priority to 'high'.
It happens to songs i've imported from CDs and bought from iTunes store so I really don't know what it could be.
Do i return the laptop or is it an iTunes fault and take the laptop to an Apple store even though it's not a Mac.

There is an alternative version for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version of 12.1.0.77.  The alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer.  The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio (one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8).
If this doesn't address the issue, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.

  • Audio stutters and skips

Hi, when I play music on my computer it stutters and skips when I open applications or surf the web. Everytime I click on something it stutters or skips. Please Help!!! I have a Pavillion dv6.

i looked at that link and even tried some of the fixes it suggested but it didn't fix the problem. i still get skips and jumps in the video playing while the audio runs fine. i have tried restarting in safe mode and that didn't fix it. i watch alot of videos online, but as it is, it is making it almost impossible to watch videos and understand what is going on.

  • Select Purchased Songs Skip on iPod

Three of my recently purchased songs skip on my iPod, but not my iTunes. I've reset the iPod and restored it enough that Apple Support tells me it's an iTunes problem. My iPod plays all other purchased music, but only on these three songs will it skip. It skips at the same point each time, but the points vary between song. If I "fast-forward" past the skip-point, it will play a bit more of the song (maybe a couple of minutes), and skip again. Anyone have any idea what's going on here? Thanks very much, it's gotten really irritating, and I've run out of viable solutions.

    Hi Charlotte,
I've had this symptom before on my iPod, and have solved it by taking rather drastic action. Please pay close attention to the advice I will give now and proceed only if you understand the implications.
I firmly believe that many iPods suffer from disk fragmentation and errors which cause this problem. Syncing iPods with continually changing content in one's iTunes library is not a good thing in the interest of keeping an iPod healthy, even though it's extremely handy. Also, even though the process of restoring an iPod is usually considered a last-resort option, it actually does nothing to check for or correct possible disk problems on an iPod, whereas the procedure I describe below does.
The first thing to do is to take a careful inventory of what's on your iPod and what's on your computer. As long as you're certain that you won't lose any irreplaceable data by temporarily deleting the contents of your iPod, you should be safely able to follow these steps and restore your iPod, hopefully solving the playback problem in the process.
    1. Connect your iPod to your computer.
    2. Quit iTunes if it was open or opens automatically at this point.
    3. Open Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility).
    4. Select your iPod from the sidebar in the Disk Utility window, taking care to select the device itself rather than just the logical volume appearing below it.
    5. Click the Erase tab.
    6. Enter a name for your iPod in the Name field.
    7. From the Volume Format drop-down list, select Mac OS Extended.
    8. Uncheck the Install Mac OS 9 Drivers option.
    9. Click the Security Options button.
    10. Check the Zero Out Data radio button.
    11. Click the Erase button.
    12. Give your consent to the ensuing deletion of the contents of the volume/disk when prompted.
    13. When Disk Utility is finished erasing your iPod, quit Disk Utility. Your iPod should now appear as a generic-looking white removable disk icon on your Desktop.
    14. Launch iTunes.
    15. Follow the prompts to set up your iPod for use with iTunes on your computer, name it (even though you already gave it a name in Disk Utility), and sync it with your iTunes library after setting the various iPod preferences to your liking.
Please note that I have performed the preceeding actions with my own 5G 30 GB iPod Video more than once with only positive effects, so I am not merely pulling wild suggestions out of my hat. I would really like to hear back from you after you've tried this, if you decide to go for it, to see if it solves your problem. I am thinking of refining these instructions and submitting them as a user tip here in Apple Discussions.
    Good luck.

  • My songs skip when i have other programs running and am navigating through them, how do I fix this?

My songs skip when I have multiple windows running and am navigating through them, it is quite irratating!

First try deleting the songs and redownloading them
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Next
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync

  • Songs skipping like scratched cd in iTunes 10.6 why and what is the fix

Hi, I use my MacBook pro to play backing tracks for my live show. I am working in Greece in the outdoors at night. Since the beginning of the summer iTunes has been skipping like mad during gigs Not Good. I don't remember when I upgraded my iTunes but don't recall having the problem last year when I started using the MacBook. I have searched the net and have found many a kindred soul suffering skipping songs.
    What gives?
    What I have tried:
1- I have disabled the sudden movenmt sensor thinking it might be a Bass Response issue. However, still does it.
2- bought a DJ rack to elevate the computer thinking it might be a heat issue. Nope.
3- got rid of all start up items, closed airport, netshred, etc.
4- changed the setting on Perian from Dolby stereo to stereo, and then I uninstalled it. Nope
5- I use the apogee duet live and I get skips. Tried it without the duet and it's worse.
    What I am running-
    MacBook Pro
    Lion X 10.7.4
Processor- 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7
    Memory- 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    1TB SATA HD
I hope someone can help. I spent a lot of money for my MacBook and don't want to go back to the PC.
    Thanks

    Hi, Clinton,
Now I think that I have officially tried everything short of taking out the HD and replacing it..
I have used the removable drive and still got the problem.. However, I noticed that the skipping only happens on my Backing Tracks and the same ones, which then told me that the tracks became corrupted. So I re-encoded 2 of the tracks using Garageband and Others I just replaced with new versions..
It worked great for 2 gigs and I was chuffed to bits.. However, I needed the third gig to make it a go and then BLAMMO one of the re-encoded songs skips... My 4th gig I get a new addition to the skipping...
Something is wrong and it is doing my head in.. Do you have any other suggestions aside from going back to my Cheapie Windows Notebook that never skipped?
