Videos no longer work..HELP!!

Ever since I upgraded to itunes 8.0.1 none of my videos will play, OR will any
videos I preview in the Itunes store play. Just shows a "green" screen. Never had this problem until I upgraded my itunes. HELP!!!

I could understand if the problem was the other way around - you would have system sounds muted - but this doesn't make sense. Did you check the volume control on the right side of the iPad - by the side switch? Adjust the volume up? But that would affect the typing sounds as well.
Restart or reset the iPad and see what happens.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Try this and see if it fixes it for you. Close all apps in the recents tray and then reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of all of the app icons. Tap the home button.

Converted YouTube videos no longer work

I have been converting some YouTube videos for my own offline use for some time to view on my iPod Touch. I use a little program called TubeSock.
Since 2.0 software was released for both iPod Touch and the iPhone 3G all of my converted videos no longer work. Apple changed something. I also have an e-mail into TubeSock to see if they have an update in the works.
Anyone else experience this problem and if so any solutions?

If it happens again then you can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Why, after installing iTunes 11.1.4.62, do my videos no longer work? Running Windows 7, fully updated, on a PC.

I did the whole uninstall/reinstall thing because I got the Msvr80.dll issue and got rewarded with this new problem! VERY Frustrated to say the least!

Facebook videos are still working for me in the Facebook App (using iOS 7.0.6).
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost.

You Tube videos no longer work after Flash Player upgrade

I am running Win XP 2002 with SP3 and Firefox 3.6.15. I just upgraded flash player and now the You Tube videos no longer display. The You Tube sound works. IE has not be affected and I can see the You Tube videos. Firefox does display videos from Netflix and news sites but not You Tube. Your company wants $39.00 to solve a problem that is the result of your efforts, not mine. I think that is wrong. So what do I do so I can resume using Firefox to view You Tube videos?

To eidnolb/anyone else who can help?
I am having a great deal of issues trying to sort out the flash player. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling the flash player, however I still get the same messages on sites such as youtube, bbc that I do not have the correct version installed and to install version 10.
I notice that you have mentioned to right click the flash symbol and then on to settings on the link page that you provided, unfortunately, all i can see is a plain box with a cross in the top left hand corner, and when i right click, there is no Settings option. i have run malware and other sytem scans and have removed any issues that there might have been, all still to no avail.
Any further help will be greatly appreciated.

I can't play the videos any longer on yahoo. They use to work just fine. I've updated Flash Player already. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. My browser is Mozilla Firefox. Please help!!

FF 3.6.6 :: Address Bar No Longer Works - Help?

After updating Firefox to version 3.6.6 on Windows XP SP 3, the address bar no longer works for navigating to pages. When entering any URL and pressing enter, the page reloads with google.com (which is my homepage in FF). Clicking some bookmarks works. However, navigating from search results in Google does not. I have tried reinstalling. Also, I have tried to start up in Safe Mode. Nothing helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

My 'run with administrative privileges' script no longer works - help

Hey all. I have an applescript that shuts down the computer that I made a while back. I pulled it out today to use it and it no longer works. Here's part of the code I'm having trouble with:
do shell script ¬
"sudo shutdown -h now" password "myadminpassword" with administrator privileges
On old machines this worked great, I would just put the admin password where myadminpassword is and it would work perfectly. Now though, I run it on my machine and I get the prompt to enter my admin username and password before it will shutdown.
Now this is going on a remote install so I need it to work. Any ideas? The machine is running snow leopard, but it seems to still work on an old leopard macbook pro.

Well, for one, do not use sudo in do shell script.
The whole 'with administrator privileges' part takes care of elevating your privileges. sudo has no place in do shell script.
Don't know if that's your issue, but it's the first thing I'd fix.
If that doesn't help, are you running the script as your admin user?
Nowhere in your script are you defining the username to run the command as, therefore it will attempt to run as the current user who may not be the same as your admin user, nor have the same password. You might need to include the username:
do shell script "shutdown -h now" user name "admin" password "myadminpassword" with administrator privileges

Stanza and my videos no longer work after upgrade to iOS5?

I upgraded to iOS5 on my 3GS.
Problem 1:Now Stanza just hangs and I get a null error. The books are also gone from iBooks (They both had the same titles - I use Stanza to read at night because of the night view option.) I imagine this has something to do with Newstand. Can anyone offer any advice.
Problem 2 : I have a large collection of old 1950's TV shows that are in MP4 format. I keep a few on my iPhone for times when I travel and there is nothing on TV. Now when I go to the Videos icon they are listed but are "greyed out" and I can not click on them. The old radio shows work fine in Music (formerly Ipod) but the videos will not work. I am sure this is not a DRM issue because they are in the public domain and free to download at the Library of Congress. I have not yet tried a purchased video, though so this could be it. Can anyone offer any help for me. I am just an old retired guy struggling with new technology!

IMac sound is no longer working- help?

This morning i turned on my iMac and the sound is no longer working. When i turn on the computer the start up chime in audible, but after that nothing can be heard through itunes, safari, or anything. When i hit the volume keys on my keyboard it shows that the volume is maxed and underneathe there is a circle with a cross through it. I first tried to resolve the problem by going into system preferernces and disconnecting my keyboard from bluetooth and then reconnecting. That didnt work, so i then put my computer to sleep, then restarted it, then shut it down. Still nothing has changed. I followed this up by resetting the SMC and PRAM, but that also has done nothing. Im not entirely sure what to do! If someone could help me out thatd be great. I feel like there should be a simple solution to this problem, but im just missing it!

Reset the SMC and PRAM each at least 2-3 times. I don't know where you got instructions for these resets so please navigate to Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets for correct instructions just in case.

Videos No Longer Working

Hi all,
I have an iPod Touch (64gig) with 3 movies, 60 music videos and some podcasts. Over the past week or so when you push the video button on my touch I get a white screen for about a minute and then it goes back to the main menu. The odd thing is the videos/movies play in iTunes, the music videos play when I go to the music option in the touch.
While in iTunes, I changed the Hangover movie to a music video (options in iTunes), the movie will play like a music video. Is there a setting that needs to be changed or has there been a glitch with the iPod Touch update. This is very frustrating. Suggestions?

This has been a problem for me since 4.2.1 and the 4.3 upgrade didn't address it. The bug appears to be related to music videos on the ipod. I have found a workaround.
Here's what I did:
Remove all music videos stored on your ipod
Within iTunes, highlight all of the music videos in your library
Select Get Info then Options
Change the Media Kind from Music or Music Video to TV Programme
The music videos will then be stored within TV Programme section of the iTunes library
Now highlight all of the music videos again and select Get Info
Under the Info, make sure Album & Album Artist is labelled 'Music Videos'
Now drag all of the music videos to your ipod.
Most of the time the Video App will still 'white screen' then crash and return to the home screen the first time I select Videos. However, if I press Videos a second time, the white screen will linger for a little while longer BUT will end up showing all of my videos including the music videos.

Importing Videos No Longer Works

Recently, iPhoto stopped recognizing and importing videos from my cameras.
I used to work fine, now, I'm not sure what happened, it no longer works.
Is this common or just occurring for me?
Any comments appreciated.

Nay. The videos will not appear anywhere except on the camera.
I take the card out, and no videos. So I know they are on the card.
The camera records in AVCHD Lite and Motion JPEG.
The videos I'm having problems with are AVCHD Lite.
I found TD's posting about these file types and was able to import the video using iMovie.
Once in iMovie, I found the source of the imported images and added them to iPhoto.
I'm changing the setting to Motion JPEG so I don't have to do this in the future.

Embedded videos no longer work in iOS5

I have a couple of videos embedded on my website. Suddenly after updating my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, and on my new 4S these videos no longer play at all. They used to play fine on the 3GS running iOS 4. They also still play fine on an original iPhone 2G running iOS 3.1.3
And of course they play fine in any browser on a Mac or a PC.

Could someone please check if they play in your iPhone running iOS 5, and/or let me know if they play correctly in earlier versions of iOS.
Does anyone know a solution for this, since obviously the videos are embedded properly because they play for me in earlier versions of the iOS.

I had given up on this and not checked this for a long time, since I posted the original post above. After your note I checked again, and it now seems to work just fine.
On my old iPhone 3GS the videos play fine now under iOS 5.1. And on my new iPhone 4S the videos also play just fine. On the 4S I am still running iOS 5.0
I did not make any changes to the video files in question.

Rename roll no longer works - help

In iPhoto (6.0.5) I used to be able to change the roll name by simply clicking on the existing name (e.g. roll 243) in the info panel at the bottom left, and then typing in a new name. This no longer works. When I click on the name in the info panel the name is momentarily highlighted, but then dims and will not permit me to rename it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Run Disk Utility and repair disk permissons. Also make sure you have the Helvetica font enabled for your Mac and account. It's a long shot but worth a try

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
