View Link with destination VO in expert mode

I have view link with the destination View Object in expert mode for applying a custom query.
The view link doesn't run nicely because it seems to never find the right table.
Does anyone manage to create this kind of view link based on a custom query in the destination VO?
Thanks
Olivier.

Hi,
I had also the same problem, I needed to query two tables which are in a Master-Detail relationship, the only way to do this is to write a new bean, extendind the FindForm bean to make a query like this:
select * from mastertable where condition4mt and pk_mastertable in ( select fk_pk_mastertable from detailtable where condition4dt)
So after this you get a pointer in the master table, but your condition to the detailtable is not considered from the ViewCurrentRecord Bean. I didn't go further to extend the ViewcurrentRecord bean, because this solved my problem, besides I think it would be also very difficult.
JDevTEAM !!! are you planing to solve this king of problem ???
I know that I can force the VO.setWhereClause() to force some condition on the detail, but are you planing to extend the ViewCurrentRecord bean to have also a master-detail view with a restriction also on the detail table ???
TIA,
Seb.

    hello
i ma try to extend a VO which having Expert Mode Uncheck and Vo is EO base d
is it possible to extend that VO

    Hi,
You can do it through personalization. Open that page and click on about this page link which is in the bottom left corner of the page and inside this search for the VO and after getting the exact VO, Click on it.
You will get the whole query of this.
If you can't find about this page link on the page then you have to activate a profile option i.e. FND:Diagnostic=> "Yes"

  • Use View Object with Alternative Data Sources in View Link

In my case, I created a view object based on alternative data source (not with SQL query). I have setQuery(null) in the override create() function for this View Object. When I use this View Object at the destination end of the View Link, the setQuery(null) will raise Jbo-26016 exception (You cannot set customer query (calling setQuery()) on a view object if it is the detail view object in a master detail view link.) which does not allow me to do that. I looked Avrom's Framework for Database API-Based ADF BC, in which he override the DBTransaction and CallableStatement in order to intercept the default query clause set by the View Link. I'd like to see if there is any alternative ways to achieve my objective?

Just following up what I found so far. I'm trying to use customized View Object based on alternative data source at the destination end of View Link with ADF 10.1.3.
    1. For the View Object at the destination end of View Link, I can not call setQuery() which will raise Jbo-26016 exception.
    2. I can omit the setQuery(null) call in my customized ViewObjectImpl, and as long as there is no SQL statement in the View Definition XML, it won't cause problem when calling the executeQueryForCollection() of the super class.
    3. The override executeQueryForCollection() must call the super.executeQueryForCollection() in order to get appropriate result (I tried to skip the call and it does not give back any results)
    4. The funny thing is, when I make getQuery() call in my customized ViewObjectImpl (I'm just trying to double check if the Query object is clean or not), the query object is set to "SELECT FROM" following the getQuery() call, and which causes the exceptions when I call super.exeuteQueryForCollection(). I found out later from the Javadoc API which is implemented in that way.
So I guess my case is resolved by not making specific call to setQuery(null).

  • View Link  and HGrid - Urgent

    Hi,
The hierarchy in HGrid can be constructed using the view link and a view object.
If I want to associate a "Where" condition with the child rows of my "root Row", I need to relate the source view object with destination view object.
How do I independently associate a where clause with the child rows ?
I am working on this for a long time and finding nobody to help me on HGrid complexities.
Can anybody please help ? Does anybody suggest raising a TAR for this, to Oracle ?
    Thanks,
    Amit

    Amit,
You would have to build runtime VL in that case, because only then you would be able to first set where clause of child VO and then get filtered rows by runtime VL.

  • EJB Finder View Links and CMR

    Hi,
Can someone please give me some input on the following warning in the JDeveloper online help!
"Warning: You cannot create an EJB finder view link that expresses the same relationship as a CMR."
I'm new to EJB, BC4J and JDeveloper. I created container managed entity beans with local interfaces only to represent my data and relationships. No problems with the mapping so far.
To test the beans I used Session Facades with remote interfaces and build a sample test client.
Now I thought I could create EJB Entity Facades, EJB Finder View Objects, EJB Finder View Links and EJB Application Modules to make use of the BC4J framework in order to speed up programming clients (JSP and JClient).
So I've started studying the JDeveloper online help (which seems to be very useful) and found the above mentioned warning.
Well, better a warning than nothing at all, but some more explanations would have been even better.
Is there no need to use view links with CMR?
How to achieve the same functionality (synchronizing two view objects in a master-detail-relationship) with CMR?
Do you know any examples? I couldn't find any examples using EJB entity facades in the "sample code" area on OTN.
Any comments about other (better) architectures are also welcome. Would it be better to use BMP entity beans in conjunction with BC4J?
    Many thanks for your help!
    Regards,
    Eric

    Steven,
thank you for your reply and suggestions - I'll count on that. If I find time I'll read this book. It seems to be very interesting.
For educational purposes I'd like to look at both persistence implementation strategies. I agree that it looks definitly easier to use entity objects. Certainly it's also performancewise a better choice.
Anyhow, could you give me some useful tips for cmp entity beans and finder view objects?
Is there something which works completely different if I use BC4J on top of it?
How to implement a master-detail relationship in JClient (Swing) for example?
What about writing an ejbfinder which doesn't return all, but all data where the foreign key is equal to a parameter passed to the finder method and use this as the source for a detail view object. This could be the primary key of the selected master. Well, I don't know whether this is doable. But that's what comes to my mind spontaneously.
Would this be a solution? I'm still thinking about the aforementioned warning in the online help regarding view links.
I guess the problem is that the foreign key is not part of the entity bean as it's not a cmp-field. Instead you have accessor methods to retrieve a related object or a collection of objects.
I'm sure my questions are not too complicated to answer. It's only hard for a beginner to get an overview.
I'm quite confident that I'll manage this if I give my best and get some help from knowledgeable people like you Steven.

  • View Link Bug!  - JDEV Developers please read.

This has to be a bug. When I am done with my project for the day I check in the files into PVCS. After check in the files are deleted off my local drive. When I recheck out my project and do a rebuild on the project, I get several View link XML files that say that they are not correct. However when I pull them up in the editor and relink them, there is NO CHANGE to the XML file that stores the DEF. Below is a sample of one of the files. If I go into this view link with the visual editor and reselect the linking nodes, all is fine in JDEV.
Is this a bug that is being worked on for the next version?

  • Substitution problem in VO with viewlink and not in expert mode

    Hi All
i have to extend a VO ,standar VO is not in expert mode so i made it and then extended the VO(need to add two new date columns) and substituted the BC4j ,i was involved in this discussion also
Re: Substitute ViewObject. Urgent!!!!!  Thank you
,and i was aware that viewlinks should take care by substituion itself ,but in my case it is creating problem ,first it has thrown the error given below
oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: oracle.jbo.InvalidParamException: JBO-25006: Invalid parameter value PoRequisitionLinesVO for source passed to method ViewLinkImpl.setSource.  Explanation: view def mismatch
then i modified the VOExRowImpl and added the viewlink setter getter from seede Rowimpl ,now it it not throwing the InvalidParamException ,but throwin OAAttrValException saying get method for LineNum is not resolved ,now i m puzzeled what is going on ,i m sure i have not made any mistake in substitution, any clue would be very helpful for me ,please throw some light on this issue
    thanx

thanx kumar, nice to see your reply.
basic requirement is i have to create two date fileds on the requsition line form ,it shud appear on the basis of selected value in a field of same row ,so i set PPR ,initially i bounded these fields with spared attributes of VO but it was creating problem after page refresh ,i have raised the issue in the forum
Date value format is changed itself after page refresh
raised a tar with oracle ,issue was that these attributes are varchar type and used for the date fields, thats y creating the problem after page refresh ,VO extension didnt work bcz these attributes are already there in seeded VO with there data type, so they can not be changed in VO extension, oracle suggested create two columns with date type in the seeded table itself and use them in VO extension , i did it ,now the problem is
i have extended the VO ,and this problem came ,one thing i m not sure is
since i have added two new columns ,shud i do EO extension (i did it ) and then VO extension ,if yes then how bcz when i will move all the files from server they are all standard files and ,extended VO is getting the reference of seeded VO which is using the seeded EO not the extended EO .
so what approch or steps shuld i follow to add this newly added column in VO .
    thanx

  • PDF goto named destination link with current zoom level

    Hi,
I am created PDF file from 3b2 software with many links and bookmarks, The links with in documents are created with named destination bookmark names.
When I am click the link to navigate with in document it will goto the bookmarked location and zoom level will changed into “FIT TO WIDTH” but I am want to navigate over the document with current zoom level from the link where I am clicked.
For this process I am tried one method that is javascript action in link.
    Using link properties
Action -> Add Action -> Select Action  (Run Javascript)
    Script
    main()
    function main()
    var zoom = this.zoom;
    this.gotonameddest(“bk1”);
    this.zoom = zoom;
By this method I am get what I am looking but I am having one problem,
First I will goto that book marked page with and after only it will fit to the current zoom level, so when I am go for previous view it will goback to "FIT TO WIDTH" zoom level, so this method failed.
And also I am unable to edit all the links in my PDF document by Manually.
So please advice me what is right way to navigate over the document with current zoom level from link where I am clicked.
    Note:
The output PDF document will contain 100 number of links so I want to update all the links with my requirement by automation.
Is there is any way to handle this process by Acrobat SDK with C# , .NET

  • Problem with af:table and view links

I want to display a table with data from a database table called PERSON, so I'm using af:table tag.
The PERSON table has the next fields:
    PERSON_CODE
    PERSON_NAME
    PERSON_COD_STATE
The field PERSON_STATE is a foreign key to other table called PERSON_STATE:
    PERSON_COD_STATE
    DESCRIPTION
I've created a view to get data from PERSON table (personView). Because I want to show the person state description in the af:table , I've created another view to get data from PERSON_STATE table (personStateView). And I've also created a view link between personView and personStateView.
In the column of the af:table that represents the person state I drop the field 'description' of the state view linked to the person view.
When I run the JSP the state is not shown properly. All the persons are shown with the same state.
When testing directly with the application module, the view link works properly.
Does view links work inside a af:table?
    I'm working with ADF 10g.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
The second alternative works, but I would be interested in the first one (using a view link).
The foreign key is defined properly:
    PERSON.PERSON_CODE is a primary key.
    PERSON.PERSON_COD_STATE is a foreign key.
    PERSON_STATE.PERSON_COD_STATE is a primary key.
I have created a view link based on that foreign key.
When usign af:table to show the records of PERSON table, all the data of PersonView is properly shown. But the STATE of the person is not ok. It seems as the view link is not working.
    Why?
    Thanks

    Hello John,
Thanks for the reply. I can't find any material so that I can aware with JSF introduction (with demos) and ADF Faces. So will you please suggest me some tutorial or demos related to JSF and ADF faces. I passed through the video demos of Oracle ADF homepage but still I can't understand the use of those tags.
    regards,
    Kush

  • Error with view link and ADF table Tree

    Hello
( Note: View objects are created based on static data but not from database tables)
I created two view objects "SuiteViewObject" and "FamilyViewObject" which are based on static data( stored in collection) but not on database entity. A veiw link "SuiteFamilyViewLink" is created from the above two view objects. An ADFTreeTable is created from the above view objects and view link. When run the jspx page containing ADFTreeTable, following error is occured in the browser.
JBO-30003: The application pool (staticviewobjects.staticappLocal) failed to checkout an application module due to the following exception:
oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.InvalidOperException, msg=JBO-26016: Cannot set user query to view "FamilyViewObj2" because it is a destination in a view link
Any help on the above error message.?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello
The above error is coming becuase view link's SQL query expects tables. But in my case I dont have tables, view objects are created from static data source(collection).
How to create a view link from view objects which are created based on static data source(collection)?
