View object sharing between task flows

Hi,
I two view objects one should not share the data between bounded task flows and another view object should share the data between the two task flows.
view's can attach diffrent application module also. how can i configure the AM properties or task flow properties to achieve the same.
Reg,
Brahma B.

thanks Frank,
My shared view object may be updatable. if am in one task flow there i will modify one column in VO then navagate to other task flow, there based on previous modified column i will change another column data and send to entity to update that data to DB. in case of view updation i didn't require any transaction change also like making dirty and undirty.
you mean i need to set the AM in Application scope or session scope in project properties correct? even if am setting the AM in session or application scope when am running the application for diffrent task flows with begin New transaction my preparesession method at AM level is getting invoked for every task flow so the transaction is new correct? so data also not getting shared between task flows even am giving the session or application scope for AM.
Reg,
Brahma B.

  • Issues with table filter during navigation between task-flows

    Hello everyone,
    I'm looking for a workaround to resolve two issues about the table filter. They are:
    1) If I type something in a filter and I change tha page (in a different task flow) when I return on the first page there is the previous search plus the string "%*". Here the video example: http://screencast.com/t/FbVenZGm
    2) In the same scenario, if I click enter on this filter the system returns this message error: "Attempt to set a parameter name that does not occur in the SQL: vc_temp_1 ". Here the video example: http://screencast.com/t/yMs6rNDF
    I have found something interesting in this thread: task-flow table filtering behaviour related to bug 8602867
    Anyway, I have implemented the solution reported in this document: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/april2012-otn-harvest-1609383.pdf (pp. 8-11). This solution works fine with my master table, but it doesn't with the detail table.
    Have you any idea for this kind of behavior?
    Thanks in advance,
    Baduel

    Sudipto,
    each table has a binding on a page fragment in this way:
    <af:table [...] binding="#{backingBeanScope.MyBackingBean.masterTable}">
    <af:table [...] binding="#{backingBeanScope.MyBackingBean.detailTable}">
    In the pageDef I have two methods, each one of the VOImpl class related to the table:
    <methodAction IterBinding="MasterTableVO1Iterator"
    id="clearOutstandingImplicitViewCriteriaMaster"
    RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="invokeMethod"
    MethodName="clearOutstandingImplicitViewCriteria"
    IsViewObjectMethod="true" DataControl="MyDataControl"
    InstanceName="MyDataControl.MasterTableVO1"/>
    <methodAction IterBinding="DetailTableVO2Iterator"
    id="clearOutstandingImplicitViewCriteriaDetail"
    RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="invokeMethod"
    MethodName="clearOutstandingImplicitViewCriteria"
    IsViewObjectMethod="true" DataControl="MyDataControl"
    InstanceName="MyDataControl.DetailTableVO1"/>
    MyBackingBean class:
    public class MyBackingBean {
    private RichTable masterTable;
    private RichTable detailTable;
    /*getter methods here*/
    public void setMasterTable(RichTable masterTable) {
    this.masterTable = masterTable;
    resetTableFilter(1);
    public void setDetailTable(RichTable detailTable) {
    this.detailTable = detailTable;
    resetTableFilter(2);
    /*This method returns the phase id */
    private String printCurrenPhaseID() {
    FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    Map requestMap = fctx.getExternalContext().getRequestMap();
    PhaseId currentPhase=(PhaseId)requestMap.get("oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.lifecycle.CURRENT_PHASE_ID");
    // System.out.println("currentPhase = "+currentPhase);
    return currentPhase.toString();
    public void resetTableFilter(int tab) {
    String phase = printCurrenPhaseID();
    FilterableQueryDescriptor queryDescriptor;
    if(phase.startsWith("RENDER_RESPONSE")) { // Only in this phase the binding is ready
    switch(tab) {
    case 1:
    queryDescriptor = (FilterableQueryDescriptor) getMasterTable().getFilterModel();
    if (queryDescriptor != null && queryDescriptor.getFilterCriteria() != null) {
    queryDescriptor.getFilterCriteria().clear();
    // PPR refresh a jsf component
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(getMasterTable());
    break;
    case 2:
    queryDescriptor = (FilterableQueryDescriptor) getDetailTable().getFilterModel();
    if (queryDescriptor != null && queryDescriptor.getFilterCriteria() != null) {
    queryDescriptor.getFilterCriteria().clear();
    // PPR refresh a jsf component
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(getDetailTable());
    break;
    default: return;
    invokeClearViewCriteria(tab);
    public BindingContainer getBindings() {
    return BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    /* This method invokes the exposed method in my fragment */
    public void invokeClearViewCriteria(int tab) {
    BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding;
    if(tab == 1)
    operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("clearOutstandingImplicitViewCriteriaMaster");
    else if(tab == 2)
    operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("clearOutstandingImplicitViewCriteriaDetail");
    else
    return;
    if(operationBinding != null) {
    operationBinding.execute();
    Finally I have two identical exposed methods in the VOImpl classes of the tables:
    public void clearOutstandingImplicitViewCriteria() {
    // we only want to remove the stuff that was added though the table
    //filter (or a default search form)
    // "__ImplicitViewCriteria__" is the magic name for this VC
    ViewCriteria vcDefault = this.getViewCriteria(ViewCriteriaManager.IMPLICIT_VIEW_CRITERIA_NAME);
    if (vcDefault != null) {
    //Clear the stored values
    vcDefault.clear();
    //And refresh the collection
    this.executeQuery();
    Please note that this workaround works fine with my master table, but i does not with the detail table.
    Thanks again.

  • How to stretch view of document manager task flow

    Hi all
    I am using Document manager task flow to display folder of my UCM.
    I am using explorer view. When i open any document(pdf/html) in right pane it displayed
    i want to resize that pdf to fully stretched to right pane in height.
    How can i achieved it. i tried using panelstretchlayout component with AFStretchWidth an inlineStyle height 1000px but nothing I tried to find it in oracle docs but nothing is there. please help me
    Thanks

    Hasn't the af:inlineFrame for document preview got the attribute sizing="preferred"?
    I would expect the iframe to stretch with its contents. Why isn't this working?

  • Error while runtime customization for task flows in jdev drop6 build 11

    Hi,
    I am using jdev drop 6 build 11. I am trying to build a webcenter application in which I want to drag and drop task flows at runtime. I am able to add the ADF components at runtime. I am also able to expose the task flow at runtime on the UI after creating my own catalog. But if I try to add the task flow by dragging it, it gives an unhandled exception and it shows that no metadata found for metadata object for the task flow. And after this error I am not able to add the ADF components as well. It gives the same error. This is the error I get:

  • ADF Task Flow based on HumanTask - Region withiin Task form

    Hello All,
    Was wondering if anybody here has sucessfully used region in their human task forms? I really like the idea of regions and after going through the tutorial here* I tired to implement it.
    Following are some additional details of the issue I'm facing.
    I have created a UI project based on a human task. The main <human task>_taskFlow.xml is bounded and non-fragmented. I then dropped 'view' component within this task flow and create a blank jspx page underneath. I then dragged and droped another bounded and fragmented task flow (which is also a train) on to this jspx page. The 2nd task flow has some jsff pages in a train. When I deploy run this bpm project,I can't see train form within the region and I get following Null Pointer Exception on the server:

    Update: After struggling with it almost whole day, I recreated the UI project and the problem has gone away.

  • Task flow return-Current Record pointing issue.

    Hi friends
    Newbie in ADF (basically from .net back ground)...........I am in the process of developing my first module.
    I have a task flow where a master detail records are displayed ..When I click "Edit" it is calling a edit task flow where the editing of master/detail tables are performed .When I click "New" a blank record is created and it is calling same edit task flow.
    my problem is when the child task flow exits and returns to the parent it is not pointing to the current record I edited...This is true if return either by commit or cancel.
    My data control is shared , parent task flow does not have any transaction and child always starts a new transaction.
    What is the ideal solution to point to the current record when I return?.
    Thanks .
    Ashraf

    Below is updated bean code
    ViewObject VO;
    FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    DCBindingContainer bindings = (DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding iter = bindings.findIteratorBinding("Delmast1Iterator");
    VO = iter.getViewObject();
    Key currKey = iter.getCurrentRow().getKey();
    Row[] rows = VO.findByKey(currKey, 1);
    if (rows.length == 1) {
    System.out.println("row found");
    VO.setCurrentRow(rows[0]);
    iter.executeQuery();
    iter.setCurrentRowWithKey(currKey.toStringFormat(true));
    iter.setCurrentRowWithKeyValue(iter.getCurrentRow().getAttribute("SaleId").toString());
    If my child task flow does not have a commit or rollback the above code works fine...But I am beginning a transaction in my child flow(edit flow) so it is a must to have commit/rollback.
    Is there any other options experts ?..Please guide me.
    Thax.

  • Bounded Task Flow as Dialog - 404 Not Found

    I am attempting to call a bounded task flow as an inline dialog from a view activity in my unbounded task flow. When the bounded task flow is invoked, I am presented with a dialog which contains a "404 Not Found" error. I thought that I had this right based on what I read in the developers guide:
    1. In my unbounded task flow, create a task-flow-call activity
    a. Set the "Run As Dialog" behavior to "true"
    b. Set the "Display type" to "inline-popup"
    2. Add a named control flow which associates a view activity to the task-flow-call activity.
    3. In the related view activity page, add a command control with the "action" set to the name of the control flow, and "useWindow" set to "true".
    4. In my bounded task flow, add a view activity which points to the JSF document (jsfx) that I want to display in the dialog.
    5. I add a task flow return activity to my bounded task flow, and a control flow that associates the view activity with the return activity.
    6. In my page fragment, I add a cancel button which invokes the control flow from the view activity to the return activity.
    Run
    When I click on the command button which invokes the bounded task flow as an inline pop-up, and I see an inline pop-up which contains the 404 page not found error.
    I must be missing something fundamental here. I've scanned all the doc and the forum, but I don't see it. Will someone please point it out to me?
    Cheers

    I appreciate the response, but I am actually building an ADF application that I am running in the JDeveloper embedded WebLogic Server. These instructions are for deploying a task form composite app to a standalone WLS.
    I'm just trying to run a bounded task flow in a dialog as described here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/taskflows_dialogs.htm#BABBAFJB
    However, I get the 404 Not Found error when I invoke the bounded task flow from a command control. The dialog appears, but the default page of my bounded task flow is not in it.
    Seems like this has to be a simple problem to fix. Anyone?
    Thanks

  • CreateInsert Not Working on Child Task Flow

    JDev version :: 11.1.2.3
    I have a parent Task Flow 'A1' which uses Data Control 'D1'
    Another Task Flow 'A2' which uses Data Control 'D2'
    I navigate from Task Flow A1 to A2 and does createInsert for a VO named 'X' and then Loads
    the page. The Page does not opens in a CreateInsert Mode.
    However If i run the Task flow A2 directly , it does open in CreateInsert Mode.
    Can anyone tell me what can be the issue ?

    Hi,
    from my understanding of your post which you have been made. i did that same it's working.
    with your requirement, i did that same.
    things which i used.
    1. one jspx page named simple.jspx.
    2. 3 Bounded TF named it as (common-taskflow,task-flow,task-flow1).
    3. 2 jsff(view,view1).
    4. one backing bean.
    5. two datacontrol
    here i posted the code.
    sample.jspx this will consume your common-taskflow as static region

  • WebCenter/ADF Bounded Task Flow Permissions 11.1.1.4

    Hello All,
    I'm seeing some strange behavior related to permission on bounded task flows within a WebCenter Portal Application created with the 11.1.1.4 WC extensions.
    I created a bounded task flow and added a view activity and a return activity to it. I have provided "Administrator", "anonymous-role", and "authenticated-role" application roles with view permissions for the task flow resource in "jazn-data.xml". I also added the page related to the view activity in the bounded task flow to my page hierarchy file "page.xml", and provided users with view permissions there.
    What I'm seeing is that anonymous users can view pages in this bounded task flow just fine, but authenticated "Administrator" role users cannot.
    Am I missing a configuration setting somewhere?
    Thanks

    Certainly... I've uploaded the sample application here: http://rapidshare.com/files/456317758/WebCenterTestApp.zip
    To make this simple, I've used the OOB, pre-configured, Web Center Portal application template with default project files. Run the "home.jspx" page. I've removed the customization panel and added a button command whose action invokes the control flow to the task flow call activity for the bounded task flow. The task flow has a single page, and I have it being displayed as an inline pop-up... just for fun.
    Before you login, click on the button to see how the anonymous user can view the bounded task flow page. After you return from the task flow, login and verify that the admin user sees the app auth error page in the dialog instead.
    I've configured one admin user in jazn-data.xml: myadmin/myadmin1
    Cheers

  • How to create ADF region without Task Flow

    I want to divide my page into different regions, but I don't want to have any bounded task flow under each region. I want to include Page Fragment inside the Region.
    I find the example of creating Region using some page flow, would you please help me, how to create Region that contains only page fragment, actually the problem I am facing, I don't know what I will provide in value attribute in Region tag, that is expecting some Region Model.

    Hello, RajeshBiswas.
    A solution could be to generate 'MultiTaskFlow' for indeterminate number of regions or multiple regions on the same page.
    It would be necessary to create a single file to define all participating 'TaskFlows' on page:
    1. Select 'new -> ADF Task Flow (JSF/Facelets)'
    2. May include all 'jsff' files as:
    <task-flow-definition id="genericTaskFlow1">
        <default-activity>case1</default-activity>
        <view id="case1">
          <page>/pages/case1.jsff</page>
        </view>
        <use-page-fragments/>
      </task-flow-definition>
      <task-flow-definition id="genericTaskFlow2">
        <default-activity>case2</default-activity>
        <view id="case2">
          <page>/pages/case2.jsff</page>
        </view>
        <use-page-fragments/>
      </task-flow-definition>
    It should create a Managed Bean to implement the List of Task Flow Bindings:
    1. Create a new Class with de following code:
        private List<TaskFlowBindingAttributes> mTaskFlowBindingAttrs = new ArrayList<TaskFlowBindingAttributes>();
        public MultiRegionBean()
            TaskFlowBindingAttributes tfAttr = new TaskFlowBindingAttributes();
            tfAttr.setId("region1");
            tfAttr.setTaskFlowId(new TaskFlowId("/WEB-INF/.../ADFTaskFlow.xml", "genericTaskFlow1"));
            mTaskFlowBindingAttrs.add(tfAttr);
            tfAttr = new TaskFlowBindingAttributes();
            tfAttr.setId("region2");
            tfAttr.setTaskFlowId(new TaskFlowId("/WEB-INF/.../ADFTaskFlow.xml", "genericTaskFlow2"));
            mTaskFlowBindingAttrs.add(tfAttr);
        public List<TaskFlowBindingAttributes> getTaskFlowList()
            return mTaskFlowBindingAttrs;
    2. Define this new class into the 'adf-config.xml' file as Managed Bean with 'pageFlow' scope.
      <managed-bean id="__1">
        <managed-bean-name>managedBeanName</managed-bean-name>
        <managed-bean-class>className</managed-bean-class>
        <managed-bean-scope>pageFlow</managed-bean-scope>
      </managed-bean>
    At the page definition, add a MultiTaskFlow inside <executables> tag:
        <multiTaskFlow id="multiTaskFlow1" taskFlowList="#{pageFlowScope.multiRegionBean.taskFlowList}"
    On the page, insert regions in the desired locations. For example:
        <af:group id="g2">
            <af:panelAccordion id="pa1" inlineStyle="width:50%; height:400px;">
                    <af:showDetailItem text="showDetailItem 1" id="sdi1">
                    <af:region id="r1" value="#{bindings.multiTaskFlow1.taskFlowBindingList[0].regionModel}" >
                    </af:region>
                    </af:showDetailItem>
            </af:panelAccordion>
            <af:panelAccordion id="pa2" inlineStyle="width:50%;">
                    <af:showDetailItem text="showDetailItem 1" id="sdi2">
                    <af:region id="r2" value="#{bindings.multiTaskFlow1.taskFlowBindingList[1].regionModel}" >
                    </af:region>
                    </af:showDetailItem>
            </af:panelAccordion>
        </af:group>

  • HFM Consolidations using Task Flow Automation

    I have created a task flow that has 5 stages (each stage having a success and a fail link). The first stage is set to consolidate (Impacted) our Actuals scenario for 6 years for 3 entity trees). The 2nd stage consolidates a different scenario for 3 yrs for 3 trees, etc. The task flow seems to "stop" in Stage 1 after consolidating all 3 trees for a few years. If I look in the View Taskflow status, the task flow still shows as being active; however if I look under Running Tasks, it shows nothing is running. If I look under Task Audit, it shows the last consolidation finished. I run into this same problem both when I schedule the task flow and when I run it manually. It consolidates a few years and then stops (and it's still in the first stage). I looked in the Event log on the HFM server and don't see anything that looks suspicious. Has anyone else had this problem?
    Also one more question - when I go to automate the task flow, why does the server time stamp listed there not match the clock on the server? I'm remoted into the server and the clock on the task bar says 9am, but the Server Date showing on the Starting Event tab shows 8am.
    Thanks.
    Terri

    I just got back to looking at this today. I ran the task flow to consolidate 2004-2009 actuals for 3 trees for all 12 months. All 3 trees were consolidated for 2004. Two trees were consolidated for 2005 and then it stopped. Both 2004 and 2005 are in the same stage of the task flow, so if the settings were correct for 2004, they should be fine for 2005. If I look at the task audit screen, it shows that it started consolidating the 2nd tree of 2005 at 8:32am. It then shows my id logging off at 8:33am and that the consolidation finished at 8:38am. Then it shows my id logging off again at 8:47am. The task flow is set up so that my id logs in for the 1st stage and then the following stages are set to use Initiator ... but the flow isn't getting to the 2nd stage be/c it dies.
    If I view the status of my task flow, it still shows as being active. I don't understand why the task audit shows my id as logging off be/c I still have the same 2 HFM sessions running as I did when I initiated the task flow ... unless it's the session that starts up to run the task flow that's getting logged off ... but if it is, I don't know why. Would the auto-logoff after so many minutes of inactivity cause this? Maybe that session appears inactive even though it's waiting for the task flow to do it's thing.
    1:07pm Follow-up - After the task flow hung this morning, I manually stopped it. I then kicked off the same task flow again and it completed successfully about 4 hours later ... so it doesn't seem to be due to the auto-logoff (time out) setting.

  • TP4 [BUG] moving a fragment don't changes task flow definition

    Moving an existing fragment using the refactoring corresponding option didn't change the path in the <page> tag for corresponding view activity in a task flow.

    Hi,
    assume the bug your are reporting is that MOVE is not doing anything here. Its not that it doesn't update the taskflow. If I am correct then yes, this appears to be a bug.

  • How to filter View Objects on Main Page - Unbounded Task Flow

    Hi All,
    Version: 11.1.1.4
    I have a scenario where I am trying to filter the Employee information by EmployeeID and show their related Items. I can do this if I encapsulate Employee and / or Items in bounded task flows and expose their view Criteria in methods that I am setting on the App Module. I could also add the bind variable to the View Object queries. The problem I am having is that I want to display a pop up based on the item they select. My issue is that I can't seem to figure out how to either grab the item row selected and pass it to the pop up (Can't create a control flow from a page fragment to a page - which as far as I can understand the pop up in the task flow has to be a page and not a page fragment) or drop the employee view object and item view object on the main page and have them be filtered.
    So basically two issues:
    1. If I use the Employee and Item bounded task flows and place them as regions on the main page then I am having difficulties passing the row selection (item selected) and pass it to my pop up window (another task flow).
    2. If I place the employee and item view objects on my main page the original methods I am using to filter the data are not getting called at all. I have tried placing them in the adf-config task flow prior to my main page view and going into my main page page def and adding them as method calls in the binding.
    I am sure I am doing something wrong or maybe even creating an invalid approach, but I should be able to filter my employee and item data on load within my unbounded task flow or use the data within my bounded task flows and generate a popup with data I am collecting from my item row.
    As always greatly appreciate the feedback....still really ignorant with ADF.

    I figured out the issue Shay. I didn't have my pageFlowScope value set on the task-flow-call. So I had the parameter name and value set on the input of my downstream bounded task flow, but when I add the control to call the task flow I didn't have the task-flow call value set. That piece was not intuitive to me. It makes sense that it would have to know how to pass the value.....just wasn't sure where it should be set.

  • App module view object row currency and task flows

    Hello -
    Using JDev 11gR1. My application uses ADF Rich Faces with ADFBC.
    I have case where I want to
    a. select a row in a table based on a view object
    b. hit a button to invoke a method in an application module.
    c. in the app mod method, call getMyViewObject().getCurrentRow() to get the row selected by the user
    d. "do something" with the row
    In 10.1.3, this worked fine.
    In 11gR1, I am having problems:
    1. The above situation works fine if I have a regular page.
    HOWEVER,
    2. The above situation does NOT work if my table is in a page fragment in a task flow. (The getCurrentRow() returns NULL.)
    For case #2 I've checked the following:
    * verified that the selectedRowKeys and selectionListener attributes were set on the table in the page
    * verified that I'm using the correct app module instance (I have nested application modules).
    * experimented w/various transaction and data control scope settings in the task flow definition.
    So... from those details is there something obvious I am doing wrong? It looks like cases #1 and #2 above use different row set iterators. Is there a way to grab the correct row set from within my app module method? Does this have something to do with the data control scope defined by the task flow? (For 11g do I need to "rethink" sticking logic in the app module and instead placing it within a managed bean get access to my ADFBC objects via the bindings layer?)
    Thank you for reading my question,
    -- Scott

    See this article for View Object tuning tips:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/voperftips/index.html
    Are you planning to use this AM as a nested AM inside other application modules?
    If you don't the "selection AM" will have its own, separate database connection/transaction.
    If you do, it will share connection, transaction with its containing "root" AM.
    It may not be relevant to your application, but just realize (which is explained in the article I point to above) that view objects that are not related to entity objects do not "see" pending changes in the current transaction. That feature depends on the VO/EO cooperation. It's fine to build VO's without an EO -- in fact we've made it easier to do this in 10.1.2 in the Design Time wizards -- but you just want to make sure you realize what features it's giving up. If you don't need those EO-related features, then by all means create an Expert Mode VO that's not related to EO's.

  • Task Flow Transaction Handling Inconsistent between JDeveloper R1 & R2.

    We have a solution developed using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.1.0.
    To describe the use case I will use the HR schema.
    The user must be able to view Regions and navigate to Countries and Locations in a hierarchical way. At each level he must be allowed to view and maintain the detail of the current record at that level. The user must also be able to navigate directly to a level and perform a search to view the data and from there be allowed to to view and maintain the detail of the current record at that level.
    So I have created the following design to achieve this and take into consideration that I need to reuse my task flows that maintain the data.
    Business Services (Model Project)
    1. HierarchyAM, containing Read Only VO’s of the various levels nested by association/view link.
    2. Region + Countries + Locations
    3. Search#Level#AM, A separate AM for each level, containing the Read Only VO per level.
    4. Maintain#Level#AM, A Separate AM for each level, containing an updateable VO per level.
    UI (View Controller Project)
    I created the following BTF’s (To try and keep the post short as possible I will only provide detail for a single level to explain the issues)
    *1. HiererchyBTF*
    a.     Contains a fragment.
    b.     Added RegionHierarchyBtf, CountryHierarchyBTF, LocationHierarchyBTF to the above fragment as dynamic regions.
    c.     Task flow transaction <No Controller Transaction>, isolated.
    *2. RegionHierarchyBTF. (The same BTF’s are created for each level in the hierarchy)*
    a.     Contains a fragment.
    b.     Exposed HierarchyAM<RegionRoVO>
    c.     Task flow transaction <No Controller Transaction>, shared.
    d.     Includes a call to the EditRegionBTF.
    *3. SearchRegionBTF (The same BTF’s are created for each level in the hierarchy)*
    a.     Contains a fragment.
    b.     Exposed SearchRegionAM<RegionRoVO>
    c.     Task flow transaction <No Controller Transaction>, isolated.
    d.     Includes a call to the EditRegionBTF.
    *4. EditRegionBTF*
    a.     Contains a fragment.
    b.     Exposed MaintainRegionAM<RegionVO>
    c.     Task flow transaction <Use Existing Transaction if Possible>, isolated.
    Runtime behaviour with above configuration.
    1.     Running the HiererchyBTF and navigation the levels works in all versions.
    2.     Calling an edit BTF allows me to edit the current record and successfully commit the data in all versions.
    3.     Calling an edit BTF for the same record immediately thereafter, allows me to edit the record and commit the data successfully in all versions.
    4.     Running any of search BTF’s and calling the edit BTF works in all versions.
    Runtime behaviour and changing the EditRegionBTF task flow transaction to Shared.
    1.     Running the HiererchyBTF and navigation the levels works in all versions.
    2.     Calling an edit BTF allows me to edit the current record in the table and successfully commit the data in all versions.
    3.     Calling an edit BTF for the same record immediately thereafter, allows me to edit the record and commit the data successfully in 11.1.1.4.0 & 11.1.1.6.0 only. If I perform the same scenario in 11.1.2.1.0 I receive the following exception.
    a.     JBO-25003: Object MaintainLocationAM of type ApplicationModule is not found.
    4.     Repeating the process, but after editing the first record, edit the second record in the table the error is not encountered. If, after successfully editing the second record and committing the data successfully, I again edit the first record I edited, I receive the same exception as in point 3.
    5.     Running any of search BTF’s and calling the edit BTF works in all versions.
    For the purpose of having a reusable edit task flow, I need to have the task flow transaction configuration as <Use Existing Transaction if Possible>, shared. This enables me to have the edit task flow as a parent as well as a child task flow and use the task flow functionality irrespective if it is controlling the transaction or not.
    My questions are;
    1. Is my design acceptable for the solution I am developing, I am more specifically questioning my separation of the AM’s to achieve loosely coupled task flows.
    2. Is there a bug (I have done a search on MOS) that details this behaviour.
    3. As, in my opinion, this is a common requirement, why is there inconsistency between the versions.
    The demo for each version can be made available.
    Regards.
    Leon.

    Hi Frank,
    +1. Its the first sting I stumbled on reading your post. Unless the read-only view object AMs are shared across users (application scope) I don't see why you want to have them in a separate AM. I don't see a benefit in a purely read-only view object that is not backed up by entities and thus would follow Oracle's recommendation to always use entities with view objects.+
    The read-only vo's are based on eo's. I separated the AM as the search use cases are independent of one another. So my understanding, from a performance perspective, is to not have all the read-only vo's of the entire hierarchy of products in a single AM if I am only going to access one of them. If I do not understand correctly, can you please assist me in better understanding.
    +2. For sure this behavior doesn't sound right and should be filed. You may want to check 11.2.3 in case it has been fixed in there already.+
    As posted by Chris, I have through MOS found that it has been fixed in a later version.
    Btw.: "Calling an edit BTF for the same record immediately thereafter, allows me to edit the record and commit the data successfully" how do you call this task flow dynamic region or task flow call activity ?
    The BTF's are called using a backing bean.
    Regards
    Leon.
