Hi all
I have 10-20 tables and they have some same column names
How can I know it?
I mean, I want to know the tables which have the common column names
Thanks...

  • Where statement on two different tables with same column name

    Hello,
    I have 2 financial tables:
    tblincome, tblexpenses
    in each table I have column name "monthPayed" (have values of all the months of the year).
    I would like to create a balance view table that will show me the financial status for the Q1 (for example).
    I have a column totalIncome and totalExpended respectively.
    I've create a view table that shows me the financial balance at the moment but I want it to be devide to Quarters of the year...
    Regards

    Please post DDL, so that people do not have to guess what the keys, constraints, Declarative Referential Integrity, data types, etc. in your schema are. Learn how to follow ISO-11179 data element naming conventions and formatting rules. Temporal data should
    use ISO-8601 formats. Code should be in Standard SQL as much as possible and not local dialect.
    This is minimal polite behavior on SQL forums. Where is the code you already tried? Or are you so lazy, so rude or so privileged that you did not do anything for yourself?
    In fact that silly “tbl-” prefix is so bad that it has a name! It is called Tibbling and Phil Factor even wrote a humor article on bad programmers that use it.
    Your narrative is vague; it sounds like this is the DDL:
    CREATE TABLE Incomes
    (payment_month CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     income_amt DECIMAL(12,2) NOT NULL
      CHECK (income_amt > 0.00),
    CREATE TABLE Expenses
    (payment_month CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
     expense_amt DECIMAL(12,2) NOT NULL
      CHECK (expense_amt > 0.00),
    >> in each table I have column name "monthPayed" (have values of all the months of the year). <<
    I hope not! 2014 has not gotten to September, November or December yet! And the ISO-11179 data element name should be “payment_month”; but it is still wrong! An expense is not a payment! An income is not a payment!
    >> I would like to create a balance view table that will show me the financial status for the Q1 (for example). <<
    Report Period Table
    Since SQL is a database language, we prefer to do look ups and not calculations. They can be optimized while temporal math messes up optimization. A useful idiom is a report period calendar that everyone uses so there is no way to get disagreements in the DML.
    The report period table gives a name to a range of dates that is common to the entire enterprise.
    CREATE TABLE Something_Report_Periods
    (something_report_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY
       CHECK (something_report_name LIKE <pattern>),
     something_report_start_date DATE NOT NULL,
     something_report_end_date DATE NOT NULL,
      CONSTRAINT date_ordering
        CHECK (something_report_start_date <= something_report_end_date),
    etc);
    These report periods can overlap or have gaps. I like the MySQL convention of using double zeroes for months and years, That is 'yyyy-mm-00' for a month within a year and 'yyyy-00-00' for the whole year. The advantages are that it will sort with the ISO-8601
    data format required by Standard SQL and it is language independent. The pattern for validation is '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-00-00' and '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[01][0-9]-00'
    Now figure it out for yourself, show us what effort you put into this, then we will help you.

  • View of tables with double column names

    Hello,
    my problem is that in my database schema the name of the primary-key-column in one table has the same name as the corresponding foreign key-column in another table. Now i want to create a view of those two tables and get an error (double column names).
    Is there any chance to avoid this error without rename all my column names (cause this happens many many times)?
    Thanks for any help.
    Christoph

    Hi,
    In SQL you cas prefix the column with its data container. Use this and it'll be OK. This is not an error, it's expected and absolutely normal behaviour.

  • Many to many join table with different column names

    Hi have a joint table with different column names as foreign keys in the joining
    tables...
    e.g. i have a many to many reltnshp btwn Table A and Table B ..and join table
    C
    both have a column called pk.
    and the join table C has columns call fk1 and fk2
    does cmd require the same column name in the join table as in the joining table?
    are there any workarounds?
    thanks

    HI,
    No, the foreign key column names in the join table do not have to match the primary
    key names in the joined tables.

  • Deleting from multiple tables where few tables have same column name

    Hi,
    I am new to PL/SQL and need some help. I need to delete data older then X years from some 35 odd tables in my schema and out of those tables 25 tables have same column name on which i can have my "where" clause and rest 10 table have different table names. I am doing something like this :
    declare
    table_list UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE;
    string_line VARCHAR2(1000);
    tables_count number:=0;
    table_name VARCHAR2(400);
    column_name VARCHAR2(400);
    BEGIN
    table_list := UTL_FILE.FOPEN('ORALOAD','test7.txt','R');
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(table_list);
    LOOP
    UTL_FILE.GET_LINE(table_list,string_line);
    table_name := substr(string_line,1, instr(string_line,'|')-1);
    column_name := substr(string_line, instr(string_line,'|')+1);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(table_name);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(column_name);
    IF column_name = 'SUBMISSION_TIME' THEN
    delete from :table_name where to_date(:column_name)<(sysdate-(365*7));
    ELSE
    delete from || table_name || where ( || to_date(column_name) || ) <(sysdate-(365*7));
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(table_list);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Number of Tables processed is : ' || tables_count);
    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(table_list);
    END;
    WHERE the text file "text7.txt" contains list of table name and column names separated by a pipe line. But when I execute the above proc it gives error "invalid table name".
    Can something like this be done or is there any other way to execute this task of deletion from 35 tables.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for replies. I don't know what I am doing wrong but still not getting this damn thing work...This is the proc i am running now :

    table_name VARCHAR2(4000);

    table_name := substr(string_line,1, instr(string_line,'|')-1);
    column_name := substr(string_line, instr(string_line,'|')+1);
    IF column_name = 'SUBMISSION_TIME' THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('do nothing');
    ELSE
    code_text:= 'begin delete from'|| (table_name) ||'where to_date' || (column_name) || '<(sysdate-(365*7))';
    Execute Immediate code_text;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;

    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Number of Tables processed is : ' || tables_count);
    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(table_list);
    END;
    But it gives following error :

  • How to join two columns between two tables with different column names

    Hi
    How i can join 2 columns with different names between the 2 tables.
    Can any one please give solution for this.
    Thanks
    Manu

    Hi,
    basic understanding of joins:
    If you want to join 2 tables there should be matching column w.r.t. data and it's data type. You need not to have same column names in both the tables...
    so, find those columns which has got same values..

    This is in addition to the Problem in getting DropdownbyKey inside a ALV Table Cell in DropdownByKey inside ALV Table - Problem with Value set
    Regards,

    You have forgotten to set a cell variant. I had the same with setting a ProgressIndicator cell-editor to a table column as default editor. This causes the column to be hidden on the table while it did show up in the settings dialog. I removed the set_editor( lr_progressindicator) and created a cell variant instead with this lr_progressindicator. You then need to add this cell variant to your column. By default it will select the standard viewtext-cell-editor (which can only be textview and inputfield, like when you create a table yourself in a view), but if you use a cell variant, it will display the required cell editor if you set it (last line of the code).
    <b>In your case, replace lr_progressindicator by your ref_dropdownkey.</b>

  • Compare tables in two schemas for the table with particular column & value

    Hello All,

    Can we wirte a query on this - I am using SQL DEVELOPER , which has menu item - TOOL - database differneces to find the diffenence between two schemas but my requirement is to find the differences in two schemas for all the tables matching for a particular column ( as given in quer).
    Appreciate your help.

    Hi, Kumar,
    This is the SQL and PL/SQL forum. If you have a question about SQL Developer, then the SQL Developer is a better place to post it. Mark this thread as "Answered" before starting another thread for the same question.
    If SQL Developer has a tool for doing what you want, don't waste your time trying to devise a SQL solution. The SQL Developer way will probably be simpler, more efficient and more reliable.
    If you do need to try a SQL solution, then post some sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for a table that resembles all_tab_columns; you can call it my_tab_columns) and the results you want from that data.

  • Retrieving Data from different Tables with same tuple name

    Hi,
    I am made the following query from different tables. A tuple "name" is appearing in some tables. So when I run the qiery in a Java class, it delivers the same result of c.name, bpl.name and p.name. The result of c.name is correct, but the other 2 names are overwritten. It works perfect in a postgreSql query tool. How can I correct it, plz?

    Hi,
    create alias, if u have similar field names as below. Use the alias name (rs.getString("cname") and rs.getString("bpname") and so on ) to retrive data.

  • Replication on the table with XMLType column and schema registered

    Dear All,
    Does Oracle XML DB 11g support replication for tables with schema registered?
    Is there any recommended approach?
    Thanks and regards,
    Swapnil

    Hmmmm ... I don't know if I should smile or frown with the implication that I am an OO guy :D :D
    Most of my colleagues when I started working as a software engineer, treated me as too low-level because of my C background (started doing C in 1985).
    In my last job, my colleagues hated my guts because I was asking them to squeeze every bit of performance out of C++ by using STL which is definitely not OO (although C++ is).
    My current colleagues treat me as a DB guru (which I most definitely am not) and they overlook/forget the fact that most of them use Java libraries in their projects, that I wrote for them !
    I am inclined to believe that I do not fall into any category in the end...
    The only thing I am for sure - and I am proud of it - is inquisitive. I want to know everything there is about the tools I use, and so I end up spending hours and hours investigating... (Microsoft found that out the hard way when I filed 16 bug reports in 8 days when Visual C++ 6 came out ! Not that it hurt them though...)
    This is where my confession ends (and my working on the XML validator starts...)

    PS: I did not follow the last solution anyway. I just wanted to verify its operability ;)

  • How can i export the data to excel which has 2 tables with same number of columns & column names?

    Hi everyone, again landed up with a problem.
    After trying a lot to do it myself, finally decided to post here..
    I have created a form in form builder 6i, in which on clicking a button the data gets exported to excel sheet.
    It is working fine with a single table. The problem now is that i am unable to do the same with 2 tables.
    Because both the tables have same number of columns & column names.
    Below are 2 tables with column names:
    Table-1 (MONTHLY_PART_1)
    Table-2 (MONTHLY_PART_2)
    SL_NO
    SL_NO
    COMP
    COMP
    DUE_DATE
    DUE_DATE
    U-1
    U-1
    U-2
    U-2
    U-4
    U-4
    U-20
    U-20
    U-25
    U-25
    Since both the tables have same column names, I'm getting the following error :
    Error 402 at line 103, column 4
      alias required in SELECT list of cursor to avoid duplicate column names.
    So How can i export the data to excel which has 2 tables with same number of columns & column names?
    Should i paste the code? Should i post this query in 'SQL and PL/SQL' Forum?
    Help me with this please.
    Thank You.

    You'll have to *alias* your columns, not prefix it with the table names:
    $[CHE_TEST@asterix1_impl] r
      1  declare
      2    cursor cData is
      3      with data as (
      4        select 1 id, 'test1' val1, 'a' val2 from dual

  • How to Select data using same column name from 3 remote database

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me on how to get data with same column names from 3 remote database and a single alias.
    Ex.
    SELECT *
    a.name, b.status, SUM(b.qty) qantity, MAX(b.date) date_as_of
    FROM
    *((table1@remotedatabase1, table1@remotedatabase2, table1@remotedatabase3)a,*
    *(table1@remotedatabase1, table1@remotedatabase2, table1@remotedatabase3)b)*
    WHERE b.dept = 'finance'
    AND a.position = 'admin'
    AND a.latest = 'Y' AND (b.status <> 'TRM') AND b.qty > 0;
    GROUP BY a.name, b.status ;
    NOTE: the bold statements is just an example of what I want to do but I always gets an error beacause of ambiguous columns.
    Thanks in advnce. :)

    Each object must be uniquely identified. So you cannot do this:
    select * from (table1@remotedatabase1, table1@remotedatabase2, table1@remotedatabase3) a3 objects cannot share the same alias. Example:
    SQL> select * from (dual, dual) d;
    select * from (dual, dual) d
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00907: missing right parenthesisYou need to combine the objects - using a join or union or similar. So it will need to be done as follows:
    SQL> select * from (select * from dual d1, dual d2) d;
    select * from (select * from dual d1, dual d2) d
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00918: column ambiguously definedHowever, we need to have unique column names in a SQL projection - so the join of the tables need to project a unique set of columns. Thus:
    SQL> select * from (select d1.dummy as dummy1, d2.dummy as dummy2 from dual d1, dual d2) d;
    DUM DUM
    X   X
    SQL> I suggest that you look closely at what scope is and how it applies in the SQL language - and ignore whether the objects referenced are local or remote as it has no impact to fundamentals of scope resolution.

  • Can I create a view based on two tables that have the same column name?

    I have two tables A and B. Each table has 50+ columns.
    I want to create a view that includes all the columns in A and all the columns in B. I created a view with a select statement that says
    Select A.*, B.*
    From A, B
    where A.id = B.id
    It returns an error because in each table I have a column that keeps track if a record has been changed called Modified_By. That's where it chokes up on I figure. I would like to write the view without explicitly writing each column name from A and B as part of the select statement. The actual select statement works fine and only bombs when trying to turn the select statement into a view.

    You will have to type the full column list at least once. You can save a few keystrokes (i.e. alias. on every column) by providing the column names to the CREATE part instead of in the SELECT part. Something like:
    SQL> desc t
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    ID                                                 NUMBER
    NAME                                               VARCHAR2(10)
    SQL> desc t1
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    T_ID                                               NUMBER
    LOC_ID                                             NUMBER
    NAME                                               VARCHAR2(15)
    SQL> CREATE VIEW t_v (id, t_name, t_id, loc_id, t1_name) AS
      2  SELECT t.*, t1.*
      3  FROM t, t1
      4  WHERE t.id = t1.t_id;
    View created.HTH
